When you remember the ocg gave us two Datastorm monsters.

It makes me just a little insane. Like holy shit these two are real. Rokket Coder being able to assist in summoning both Borrel and Code Talker monsters. Its design being a mix of the Code Talkers and Rokkets, with Borreload's wings. Borrelcode Dragon being a reference to Borreload Dragon and the Code Talkers, while the design is based on and its effect interacts with the Topologic monsters. What if I fucking die.

For the ask game I'm gonna ask for the coolest motherfucker this side of the Yugioh galaxy, my one and only wife; Kogami Ryoken aka Revolver.

Why I like them/why I don’t

Ryoken might, putting aside biases, be the perfect evolution of the Kaiba rival archetype. He is a remarkably well-written character who has one of the strongest performances in the show both in the sense of his duels, his writing and his VO. Even when he works with Yusaku and the gang, he's always doing so to push his own agenda forward and remains an unpredictable rogue element. He's one of my favorite characters across the entire franchise, to be blunt and to keep myself from pivoting into just how much I love him.

What I like about their appearance

His piercing blue eyes, the pink V-neck, that thing he does where he puts his hand on his waist and walks like a runway model, you know what I mean.

Also that second design, chef's kiss, no notes, he's so pretty. He even makes those green highlights work for him.

Do I prefer their dub names or original names?

I have never called him Roken once, and the only times I have said Varis willingly is after playing Duel Links and having it stuck in my head for a few hours after a lot of Dragon Link grinding. Performance wise I do have to give it to the sub, Daniel J Edwards does fine, but the layers that Shunsuke Takeuchi brings cannot be understated enough.

OTP

You know it's Datastorm. They functionally complete each other in a way that's near impossible to describe. You cannot have this show without them, they are the fundamental pillars on which this series rests. They are a deeply fascinating pairing who bounce off each other so well, they are perfect foils which even represents in their decks and playstyles. They should logically hate each other and yet they keep crawling back to the other for one more hit of that good shit. They would move the heavens for each other and violate almost any moral code if the other asked.

Any of the Hanoi leaders, mostly because I think they all only deserve the romantic comfort of a sock. Also not too fond of him and Soulburner due to personal preference.

The weird post-canon situationship of Datastorm/Aiball happening at the same time is so funny to me where Ryoken has to play nice with Ai, who is revelling in that Ryoken can't touch him because they both like Yusaku too much to make a fuss.

Favourite card they use

YOU KNOW IT'S BORRELOAD SAVAGE DRAGON. The herald of his great comeback, it has a kickass summon animation and involves Revo summoning a BOLT OF LIGHTNING to flex.

Bring it back Konami, it's fine, it never needed to be banned.

Favourite moment they were in

My joke answer is gonna be in the Season 1 finale when he catches feelings for Yusaku and decides the logical course of action was to RUN AWAY ON HIS FUCKING BOAT FOR THREE AND A HALF MONTHS.

My real answer is from his first duel when he summons Toplogic Bomber Dragon and Ai calls him a hypocrite for using a Cyberse monster, to which he looks Ai dead in the eye and replies, "It's fun to fight poison with poison." Absolutely banger line but also shows genuinely how willing Revolver is to do anything for The Mission, that he'll dabble with poison as long as it suits him to.

Honorable mention to his boomer traps (always love seeing people react to MIRROR FORCE for the first time) and his comeback in Season 2 where he kicks in the roof to remind you all who the real GOAT is.

Least favourite moment

His misplay against Soulburner in their final duel annoys me enough that I have to headcanon he threw the duel. Otherwise I always thought it a bit odd how egregiously he glazes Blood Shepherd after their duel, given I think Blood Shepherd is... lame.

That's really it, like I said he's overall a really consistently written character.

Would I fuck, marry or kill them

I would marry him for the money, but he and I would both know that he's thinking of Yusaku the whole time.

Ik you are going crazy over the end of ep 70 of Vrains (WHICH I DONT BLAME YOU FOR, WHAT THE FUDGE VRAINS) but!!!! I really want to talk about my bestie, my good friend Borreload Savage Dragon's summon!! Mostly because my twin brother showed me some cool (possible) 5Ds references!!!

Don't worry, you're not spamming at all! If anything, *I* am sorry I can't answer the other ask. I'm not deleting it, maybe in a year or so I'll be able to answer it ^^" I don't know when I'll be able to fully watch Zexal. For now I'm only going with second-hand knowledge, so it's not ideal to answer this type of questions.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand.

Ryoken. Of course it's Ryoken. It's always bloody Ryoken and since he's kind-of the fandom sweetheart, I'm always terrified to write about him. 😂 I have another ask game to answer about him and it's taking forever (if the person who sent the ask for it reads these lines: I'm so sorry. I promise I'm on it...) But I'll do my best!

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

So much has already been written about Ryoken, it feels like everyone has so many headcanons and I'm not sure I can bring anything REALLY new. I do have two or three I can share now: - Ryoken is a massive tokusatsu nerd. I know I'm not the only one to think this. His summoning poses and chants, his dramatics, even his Revolver outfit... And that explosion after the infamous prison break? All very sentai-ish. One may even argue that Rokket dragons assemble to arm Borreload the way a sentai robo assembles with its different parts, but that might be stretching it. - Ryoken does karate. His poses and the way he moves betrays some martial art training. I like to think he took classes because he was obsessed with tokusatsu shows and wanted to do the same as the stunt performers. I also believe that on the boat, he trains with Spectre: Spectre's salute at the beginning of a duel shows he has some knowledge too. - In spite of his name and aesthetic, Ryoken hates fireweapons/he is terrified by them. I haven't developed a whole theory about it yet, but for me, the whole gun-thing is a way to go against this fear and reclaim something.

14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.

Please don't hate me. I mean it. Please please please don't hate me. I'm sorry. Maybe you should jump directly to the next question if you don't want me to ruin the character for you. Don't say I didn't warn you. After seeing so much of shiny, dramatic Revolver, discovering Ryoken's IRL persona was... deeply underwhelming. And I had a hard time enjoying the character. I actually still have a hard time liking him (I SAID PLEASE DON'T HATE ME :'( ) when, paradoxically, Revolver remains one of my faves. Anyway, with this disclaimer in mind: every time real-life Ryoken would appear on screen, something about him was bothering me. His clothes, his face—there was something vaguely unpleasant. It took a simple comment from my partner to unravel the mystery.

"This guy looks like he has a Linkedin account."

Massive oh moment. Nailed it.

(A few months later, I met one of my colleagues and I KID YOU NOT, the guy worked in communication and had a well furnished Linkedin account and he wore THE SAME CLOTHES as Ryoken. Except his jacket was pink and the top was white, not the contrary. IT WAS UNSETTLING)

And thus, IRL Ryoken Kogami, I assign you the fashion aesthetic of That Networking Dude, and you shall forever be known as LinkedIn Ryoken in this house.

I'M SORRY. YOU HAD BEEN WARNED.

26. What's something the character has done you can't get over? Be it something funny, bad, good, serious, whatever?

This:

Nothing has ever made me fall for a character THIS fast. During the duel where it's revealed, I literally said JUST the turn before "if I were him, the face-down card would be Mirror Force."

LO AND BEHOLD.

I had to pause the video to catch my breath. And to this day, I'm still in disbelief, and I love Revolver for this.

The other (positive) thing I can't get over is how FUNDAMENTALLY good Ryoken is, to Takeru in particular, but to many characters overall. He's a goddamn tsundere and I really enjoy it. But I also can't get over the (negative) way he behaves with Yusaku, about which I have already complained at length and will always hold a grudge for.

So let's just stick to Mirror Force, which pleases me endlessly. What a nerd.

Kanna is Akiza's older twin sister and she's the current Queen of Games, she likes to have fun and since she's the Senator's daughter and her mom, Martha Kakimari is the head Chancellor of Duel Academy, Kanna always strives her best at being a pro Duelist, the blue shorts she wears is when she became a Obelisk Blue in Duel Academy, which began her signature look, Kanna has the mark of the Dragon's body

This is the front door of the Kakimari Manor, it's bigger on the inside, Kanna is a rich family, one of those Billionaires of course, but Kanna is never spoiled or bratty

Personality: She kind hearted, always helpful and always see the good in people, but if you get on her bad side, you'll wish you hadn't

Good Traits: Kind, Helpful, Making Good friends, doesn't like to brag, keeping her twin sister safe

Bad Traits: Her Psychic powers when she gets mad, kicking people in the face when they annoy her

That's all about my OC Kanna Kakimari for now, I thought of her since the beginning of Yugioh, watching the first episode Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Dark Magician Girl started my Dragonic Heroin Deck, I made Kanna's deck alot like my deck I have in real life, but ahem moving on, Kanna made alot of friends, Yugi, Joey all the characters from Duel Monsters to VRAINS, Kanna made alot of friends during her journey to become the Queen of Games

I really like the idea of giving the Main Deck some more love in Arc-V, so I am all for Heavenly Zephyr - Miradora and Van'Dalgyon the Dark Dragon Lord. Still 50/50 on Bahalutiya, the Grand Radiance.

Another one of Phos/Frontier's Dragon Monsters could be Armed Dragon LV or Armed Dragon Thunder LV, go classic with one of the Gandora Archetypes, a Dragon Ritual Monster such Raging Storm Dragon - Beaufort IX and/or Sauravis, the Ancient and Ascended.

Those are other good Dragons for the Main Deck for Phos/Frontier. I will leave the Final Decision up too you.

Also incase you were curious as too what my original choices were before deciding too focus on the Main Deck. They were Borreload Savage Dragon, Borreload Riot Dragon, Borreload Furious Dragon, and Borreload eXecharge Dragon

I thought of Bahalutiya as it fucks with your opponent's hand even on their turn. Phos/Frontier would absolutely throw such a curveball. The former fights against Krawl so they definitely fight dirty more often than not. Meanwhile the other is a Frontier Brain who tests their challengers in various ways so this would also fit.

I did think about the Light and Darkness Dragons though. Like they recently got a Fusion card.
