I was gonna make this post way way earlier but I forgot lol but Uhm
I have played through the splatoon 2 story fully and am replaying it (for a future post bc a lot of the dialogue is rlly funny) and honestly while I absolutely loved it it makes me even sadder that splat 2’s story mode was kinda tossed aside (for valid reasons ofc) because it’s so Cool.
Excluding the gameplay, I think they did marie so well, because she sells the desperation of someone who’s got nobody she knows by her side. While she of course keeps the sassy attitude of sneak dissing her best friends (agent 3) and also telekinetically telling you to fuck off if you talk to her too much it’s very clear she genuinely cares so much about agent 4 and is so grateful they’re doing what they do.

these are only two screenshots of 8(?) of Marie randomly being really sentimental to 4 because this stranger chose to help her in her time of need rather than just ignore this GROWN WOMAN hanging out on a sewer drain
It’s like heavily emphasized multiple times that Marie could not be more grateful for 4’s help in retrieving not just the zapfish but also her cousin.
But then revealing that 4 knew about Callie the WHOLE TIME (I have a lot to say about this part but it’s mostly hc so) which is so KIND OF THEM???? this random woman recruits them into a secret military agency and hides the fact she rlly misses her cousin but they help anyway bc they WANT TO. (They didn’t even know either of them were famous btw) Marie shows a lot of gratitude toward 4 ESPECIALLY after the big reveal.
(You could make arguments for 3 being similar bc an old kook made them do it but this isn’t about them..)
And it’s not just being grateful for the one time, she genuinely enjoys 4’s company and wants to be better friends with them and chat after the zapfish and Callie are saved 😭😭😭
It’s so cute too, because 100%ing the game and even just being a little nosy is something that Marie picks up on, and remembers way later in the game. (More abt this later)
god I love this socially inept squid woman and her adopted child soldier that likes finding pieces of paper
Speaking of said soldier! I think the way they characterized 4 via the actual gameplay rather than art/statements/whatever is so cool
4 doesn’t have many illustrations besides the chaos splatfest and that one group photo where they’re being funky in the corner (and the apartment) but I feel like the reason for that is the fact that a lot of Marie’s dialogue as well as how splatoon 2’s hero mode is structured/designed speaks a lot about how they wanted to represent 4.
From a realistic standpoint, of course splatoon 2’s story mode has to be more creative both prompt wise and secret wise. But it feels like the reason its that way is because both 4 and Marie are separate types of people from Craig and 3.
The bosses help a lot with this too, being more gimmicky and weird (subtracting stamp.) Octo shower and samurai being bosses where you have to either react well or change your positioning to effectively beat them. (Octo shower is my fave btw I loved fighting it the first time)
The level design also shines in this aspect because if I’m honest I remember none of the splat 1 levels significantly besides the few octoling ones. Splatoon 2’s levels are very detailed (and also insanely pretty) and have some rlly fun puzzles in a handful of them and even the more fast ones are a blast to play through
And then all the little extras (sardiniums and scrolls alike) are hidden so well and you usually have to go out of your way to find them and even the secrets that aren’t either of those things have substance
Small note, a lot of extras are also made so that it flows well with the levels design (like the first dualie request mission) which is also extremely fucking cool.
the way marie touches on those little discoveries is so smart too because it (as I said before) characterizes 4 as someone who loves to look for things even if it’s on a whim especially since the sunken scrolls in the game are so much harder to find than in splat1.
And the fact that unlike splat 1, you can (technically) 800% the game by playing EVERY SINGLE LEVEL WITH EVER SINGLE WEAPON TYPE. to me it feels like it deepens the fact that 4 likes to be really thorough. marie goes “you have a problem.” When you break like two hidden egg crates in this one level and it’s so great.

I love what they’ve done with 4, whether it was intentional or I’m over-analytical.
Nothing gets past them, looking in every nook and cranny whether or not there’s secrets to be found. They’re too nosy and thorough and they like to be around marie after completing missions, they don’t know who the squid sisters are, hate balloons, may or may not be ok, have impulsive secret finding, partake in many extracurriculars, can be needy at times, go with the flow and they apparently smell better than agent 3.
Agent four, of the New Squidbeak Splatoon.

I redesigned Yangchen's outfit!
... I actually designed a lot of outfits for her, because I am Extremely Normal about these books, and also I like costume design and learning about historical clothing.
Short disclaimer: These fantasy clothes aren't culturally or historically accurate, just historically and culturally influenced. I don't have any expertise in East or Central Asian culture or clothing, I've just been clicking around on the internet a lot the last two weeks learning things because that's my idea of fun lol. If you wanted to talk to people who actually know things you should check out @atlaculture or like @ziseviolet, both of whom's blogs I referenced while drawing.

I only designed two alternates for the outer robes. The first is based loosely off the robes Buddhist monks wear (loosely, because drawing draped fabric is hard ^^') especially the Tibetan zhen robe. This garment is just a long wide rectangle of cloth which can be draped across the body in lots of ways (versatility ftw!).
The other garment I drew is a Chuba, a traditional garment from Tibet and the Himalayas. It's a robe, but it highkey reminds me of kilts and hoodies, in that it a) can be worn over one or both shoulders or just as a skirt and b) it makes a giant pocket over the stomach. The long sleeves can be folded up or tied back btw.

I spent the most time on the middle layer, because I was thinking it has to be something she could comfortably fight in while also being suitable for diplomatic meetings, meditating, espionage, and possibly sleeping.
And like. You can fight and hike and whatnot in loose skirts, but it's annoying how twisted up they can get while sleeping. ALSO, YC does a lot of flying and leaping, so my girl needs pants. My faves are definitely the Xiaolin monk pants and the yellow wrap pants Aang wears. I tried dhoti (Indian wrap pants) because that kind of looks like what the giant statue of Yangchen meditating might be wearing, but I think it looks odd paired with a highwaisted shirt instead of a long tunic. Maybe I'll do some more drawings with her in a tunic and dhoti or a monk's dhonka and shemdap later, idk.

As any good historical fashion nerd knows, foundational garments are everything (◡‿◡✿).
But also, there's a scene where Yangchen and Kavik pretend to be lovers, and are "discovered" by a maid sleeping in the same room, with Yangchen in a state of partial undress (gasp!)
I am living for this fake drama; I need to know how scandalized the maid was lmao.
When the maid walks in, Yangchen immediately wraps herself in a bedsheet before ushering the maid back out the door. Maybe all she did was take off her outer robe... but why would she need to wrap herself in a sheet if she was wearing a long-sleeved high-necked gown? I got the sense from both the book and cursory research about buddhist monks that walking around without your outer robes was socially acceptable, at least in casual settings. I think it more likely she was in her underclothes, which historically (in the west anyway) would also double as sleeping clothes.
"The Aang" is censored because this is Tumblr-dot-com. Its mostly a joke, but also, I know other countries are less uptight about bººbies, so like, maybe it's a valid option ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The ~Water Tribe~ look is based off Sokka's swimwear and not Katara's, mostly because chest binding seems antithetical to airbending.
All the other undergarment designs are based on hanfu neiyi, because that's what I could find reference photos and romanized names for.
I'm tired of typing now. Lemme know if you have questions about something, or want me to post a larger version of a specific outfit. I am open to feedback and tentatively open to requests.

tom riddle x ravenclaw head girl!reader

✧ ˚ · . cw + req. some she/her pronouns used. i stand behind tom being a bitch. i was kind of yapping, it's 1.1k words... 'I was wondering if you could please write some headcanons for Tom with a Ravenclaw s/o who is extremely intelligent but absolutely sucks at Potions. They are both Head Boy and Head Girl. Ik it doesn’t really make sense if she’s Head Girl and bad at Potions but let’s just say she’s passing because she does homework and puts lots of effort yk 😭 — anon?'

✧˖*°࿐ i think it’s quite plausible for her to be a little challenged with potions and still receive ‘passing’ grades btw. we know that a pass in general is an ‘acceptable’ and that slughorn requires an ‘exceeds expectations’ to enter his advanced potions classroom (newt level). with that being said, she could be great at theory work (such as explaining the effects of a potion, the suitable uses for ingredients and where to find them…), it’s just that when it comes to actually mixing together the proper ingredients, she can’t seem to get the desired end result (so lets say her potion ends up becoming, i don’t know, turquoise instead of green or something like that). the potion may work, but it’s probably not as potent as it should be or it’s considered ‘toxic’ in the typical suggested doses.
✧˖*°࿐ personally, i don’t think tom allowed himself to be anything less than brilliant, and considering how he was one of slughorn’s faves (got away with asking a ‘hypothetical’ question about one of the most obscure dark magic practices, like come on now, that’s peak “english teacher and the athletic popular boys” level of favouritism), i feel like it is safe to say he probably received very high grades in potions, probably an outstanding every time. and if we take into account the cave, where we find the emerald potion (a.k.a. drink of despair) which must be drunk in order for it to disappear (iirc it’s his own creation? or it’s heavily implied that it is) and considering the fact that the potion was most likely not checked on for a while — i feel like it’s valid to assume since the last time he checked on it using kreacher, and did not expire, it could have been the case that the potion was/mimicked an everlasting elixir which means that the potion either never ran out or never became ineffective. and while we don’t have much information about how complex it is to actually create an everlasting potion, it can be assumed that it requires advanced potion-making skills and successful brewing which is hard for people unskilled/average at potion-making. and so, that whole meta was really just my way of trying to say tom is a nerd and probably got really high grades and therefore means he’d be condescending about being smarty mcsmarty pants to our poor head girl 😭
✧˖*°࿐ i imagine he’d make a few underhanded comments here and there like suggesting she should brew something and then following it with a “oh… nevermind!” and then quietly laughing to himself. like stfu mf. no one thinks you’re funny.
✧˖*°࿐ he gives me major ‘i won’t help unless you outright asked (read: begged) for my assistance and if i feel like it, only then will i help you’. i don’t think he’d feel threatened enough by anyone to consider being overtaken, which would have been a reason for him to avoid helping out, because hello? no one could beat him, he probably took every subject available like the nerd he is (narcissistic and a nerd? pick a struggle, you insufferable boy). so yes, if she asked him really really really nicely (i.e. offered him something nice in return which could range from sweets to a whole new wardrobe, his pick) then he would totally, condescendingly tell her to “add the stupid, blasted liver after the brew begins to boil like it said in the book, for fuc— oh, professor slughorn! i was just going over the instructions with…” fake. ass. he’s actually an ethnic dad teaching his kid maths btw, you’re crying and he’s trying to restrain himself from calling you an imbecile and finding 20 synonyms to follow it with. this is why dumbledore rejected you for the dada position, you prick!!
✧˖*°࿐ i think if you were his deskmate/station-mate or whatever, he’d keep his eyes on your potion whenever he’s finished with the necessary steps for his own, purely because he’s bored and is a nosey bitch who likes being an overachiever. “it’s anti-clockwise…” “you know you’re using a quarter instead of a half right now?…” “oh please, you forgot to add the feathers…” like just do it yourself atp. you’re being a menace, even though you might? maybe? possibly? infinitesimally? mean well and don’t want to see the potion blowing up in the poor head girls face or have slughorn walk past her cauldron with a click of his tongue and a disappointed glance of his eyes which in turn causes our ravenclaw’s lips to purse and eyebrows to fall. tom when he sighs and rolls his eyes but charms the ladle to stir in the right direction, adding the necessary proportion of ingredients all whilst looking like he wants to be anywhere but in the classroom he spends so much time in. (tom riddle softie era???? if only he actually wasn’t a dick smh)
✧˖*°࿐ but other than your little potions “floundering”, power couple i hear?? i think when it comes to head boy and head girl relationships it’s either pure love and/or respect or “i genuinely don’t know how you got this title when you’re so incompetent and losery, i think you should kys” which creates for hilarious dynamics ! i think, contrary to popular fanfic belief, tom needs someone who could challenge him a little (not so much that he wants to (and can successfully) destroy them but enough to make him suck his teeth and for his eye to twitch) and i think the most harmless way would be ‘academically’ because god forbid it’s actually magically, then he’s conspiring on how to bring about your downfall because how dare you be better than the most brilliant wizard alive who pushes the boundaries of magic and blah, blah, blah… anywho ! he would definitely appreciate an academic and curious mind who’s imaginative and willing to experiment with him. he thinks the pinnacle of romance is trading books and hanging out in the library so you’d definitely need to be someone who is willing to engage in magical (and sometimes non-magical??) debate with him.
✧˖*°࿐ i also absolutely do think he uses you as an excuse to check out the ravenclaw library because it’s all good and well that he can easily walk into the common room (i mean a riddle for riddle… come on now, it’s too easy) but he would definitely get multiple side eyes for walking in all willy nilly unless he had a reason, i.e. visiting his pretty, intelligent, and amazing head girl of a partner ! tom is not tom if he’s not scheming and plotting to use people to his advantage (even if he likes them romantically, it’s the poor orphan boy unable to make healthy connections in him)

✧ ˚ · . return to main masterlist?

On Diomedes of Argos.
Typically, when people think about their favorite heroes of the Trojan siege, they think of the likes of Achilles, or Odysseus, or even Agamemnon (or if you’re based, Hector.) And while these are all valid to whatever extent— because let’s be real, no one is choosing favorites based on who has the purest moral standpoint— they’re not exactly remembered for the noblest of reasons.
Achilles spends half of the Iliad inside his tent as a sulky burrito, and the other half slaughtering Trojans and crying over the consequences of his own actions. Odysseus is a chronic liar, and Agamemnon is Agamemnon. But at the end of the day, they’re still remembered (for better or for worse, really.)
Though, on the topic of Homeric heroes, I feel there is one who is often overlooked despite achieving great feats over the course of the epic; Diomedes of Argos. (Note: arguably the most metal of the Achaean heroes at Troy.) So, let’s rant talk about him!
Diomedes was one of the key players in Homer’s Iliad— a recount of the last year of the Trojan siege. Being summoned to fight under oath, Diomedes headed his fleet of 80 ships to Ilium. As well as having a whole chapter dedicated to how kickass he was [read more about that whole thing here], the king of Argos was also a master strategist, and extremely noble— not just in his war efforts.
For example, there are multiple points in the Iliad where he checks the leader of the Trojan expedition, Agamemnon, calling him out on his cowardice or for otherwise being an inadequate leader, [Book 9; ‘Agamemnon, I will begin by taking issue with you over your proposal… do you really believe the Greeks are the cowards and weaklings you say they are? If you for one, have set your heart on getting away, then go.’] [‘Zeus has granted you many things… He gave you the sceptre of power and the honour that comes with it, but he did not give you courage— and courage is the secret of authority.]
And one instance where he truces with the Trojan hero, Glaucus— both of them exchanging armors (on an active battlefield, btw) to honor the fact that their grandfathers had been allies, [Book 6; ‘So let us avoid each other’s spears... And let us exchange our armor so that everyone will know our grandfather’s friendship has made friends of us.’]
He is also one of the only soldiers in the war who avoids committing hubris in the entire epic, which is probably the most telling of all his virtuous traits.
Diomedes also has a proverb named after him! ‘Diomedean Necessity/Diomedean Compulsion', which basically means when someone does something for the greater good (despite the reluctance of the person in question.)
This is taken from the myth of Odysseus and Diomedes taking the wooden statue of Athena— dubbed the Palladium— from Ilium. During this heist, Odysseus tries to stab Diomedes in the back to steal the acclaim of taking the Palladium for himself.
Rather than punishing Odysseus on account of betraying his ally for personal gain, Diomedes ties him up and drags him back to camp instead, because he knew the Greeks couldn’t win the war without Odysseus’ wisdom.
Anyway, why the rant? Sure, I could sit here and convince you that he’s the coolest Greek hero, but what would I be trying to accomplish in doing so? Well, it’s simply because while every other Homeric hero is recognized and represented in modern media, Diomedes isn’t.
He wasn’t even mentioned once in Troy (2004), the film adaptation of the Iliad! Despite him being the focus of multiple chapters in the book, as well as playing a big role in the Achaean army’s over-all victory.
I’m sick of everyone (and by that, I mean most modern media) depicting him as though he was just some dude™ in the Iliad when he was actually (from a mildly biased standpoint) one of the best of the Achaeans at Troy.
TLDR; Diomedes of Argos = Based. He solos ur favs (probably. He almost killed Ajax the greater at Patroclus’ funeral games 💀)Put him in more movies/shows/games so me and the other two Diomedes fans can be happy.
#tagamemnon#greek mythology#greek epic#homeric epics#the iliad#diomedes of argos#i didnt get to talk about him on the battlefield for the sake of the word count#BUT HE WAS A BEAST#i think he got the most kills in the book ??#insane.#dont even get me started on all the roman cities he founded#UGH what a guy#are these enough glitter gifs to boost my grade owen

Do you have any Peso headcanons? :3
yep!

Peso is a bit of a stress cleaner! Clutter just tends to make him feel a bit more stressed and overwhelmed.
You might assume its cuz hes from the antarctic, which would be a valid thought process, but in my au penguins tend to have two "family" (for the entire community) homes they alternate between depending on the time of year. So it wasn't like they didn't have homes that got cluttered from kids and whatever.
It was more that well... everyone got into EVERYONES business and family and friends just.. ARRIVING at your house entirely unprompted was totally normal too. He didn't mind it, even if being an older cousin did mean he babysat more often (which he didn't mind he loves them and prefers to be with the kids than older adults).
It was really more just that having lots of people, lots of noises, lots of little kids to worry about getting hold of breakable/valuesble things, and etc. Yeah hes so autistic.
So everything being neat and tidy and perfectly put away just makes him feel a big sense of calm and comfort. This also applies to the medbay, which makes sense cuz he was also trained to be neat and tidy.

(this is how he draws himself)
this guy also freaking LOVES romance movies and stuff. Especially the dramatic ones... he'd used to go watch them to escape the world with his mom when he was little and it was like their little secret bonding activity. But now he's just so freaking invested. He and dashi watch them together <3 (he still talks to his mom about them and they gotta deal with a plot twist every week 🙏 its therapeutic probably)
Speaking of him and dashi they're actually pretty close friends lol. Whether it's just chatting and de-stressing, making fun of inaccurate medical dramas/zombie movies, just sharing whatever family gossip they have, (maybe venting about their relationships with their older brothers everyone in a while), or just windowshopping online.
Dashi also taught peso who to meditate and do yoga. Although him being a penguin that waddles- uh hes had various levels of success and failure, (penguin bones r kinda just in a permanent squat which is why they waddle) but its still fun and ends with them both laughing. Yeh they're very cute friends <3
peso would be so feral over chiikawa, those Japanese comics about like lil creatures that cry over every inconvenience but still have human struggles and are adorable or wtv. I think its be great for his anxiety.
you can't look me in the eyes and tell me he DOESNT STIM by flapping his FLAPPITY FLIPPERS. When stressed his flappity flippers can also become slappity flippers.
Peso also LOVES physical comfort and closeness alot! Its a big love language for him. So even just close physically proximity is very comforting for him, he loves movie nights and social dinners. Another aspect of his love language is making sure to listen to small details that people mention about themselves. He likes to give very thoughtful or homemade gifts. (Like his stickers <3 its one of his favorite hyperfixations) that also extends to food too! Well made food is such a love language.
Peso also, like shellington, puts glow in the dark stars on his ceiling to remind him of the night sky. He loves little trinkets and decor too, he and dashi love looking for different ones online I mightve already mentioned that tho.
They don't always have great internet and have to basically "download" pages, articles, and etc in advance to have stuff accessible when they don't have connection. Its hard to explain but eh.
Thanks for the ask btw <3 if yall wanna know more about the specific relationships he has with the other octonauts feel free to ask
Some more uh, heavy sad headcanons under the tag? Well not headcanons but just him in my au ig
also in my au pesos dad may have or may have no been extremely emotionally and financially abusive which mightve partially contributed to his career path, self doubt, and high expectations, but when peso was out traveling in training his dad may have sort of been eaten by a leopard seal and peso did not even feel anything.
He mightve even only managed to feel a small odd sense of relief and felt bad for his mom. Whoops. Also pesos canonical brother pogo, who hasn't shown up ONCE in the series, was kinda their dads favorite oldest son so yeah there ya go they don't talk much yeesh).
I didn't set out to make this happen but as for the type of person pesos dad is lets just say he was inspired by the experiences of some people ik, so this isn't meant to be some stereotype thing I just saw his anxiety and my heart screamed to do this to him. Sorry yall I shouldn't have been mean to peso and gave him a gaslighting, blackmailing, pos dad but its already too late.at least he doesn't have to worry about pinto going through the same anymore. It was tough being a middle child trying to defend his mom from his dad.Yikeeeessssssss. his dad was probably a narcissist or at least narcissistic ngl
He probably has complex trauma and an anxiety disorder at least.

omg tell us more about your grif+locus thoughts
OKAY PREPARE YOURSELF. i wrote this all down and did not expect it to be so long. so other than it being a fun yapper/listener dynamic, i think that them being friends could actually be very good for each other.
tldr: Grif and Locus have great potential to have a close friendship that is beneficial to both of their senses of self-worth. They have seen each other at their worst/most vulnerable, and despite this, they show kindness and compassion towards one another. As a result, this can allow them to be emotionally open when communicating, thus forming a healthy friendship that proves to them that they are worthy of being treated with care and forgiveness.
my full explanation under the cut:
sorry guys i really could have worded all this better but i can’t be fucked rn and i wrote it stream of consciousness style. i am too tired to go back and proofread it.
btw i am also ignoring the fact that season 15 was retconned.
ok so. It has been established that grif has low self-esteem. he considers himself as the “hateglue,” and feels extremely guilty for quitting the team. he probably has some attachment issues and problems with feeling unwanted and not being worthy of being cared for (implied by o’malley about his family life)
and locus. he’s got so many problems. mentally and just in general. everyone knew him as the absolute worst version of himself and now he’s trying to seek redemption and atone for all the horrible things he’s done. but locus is doing this all by himself, he has no allies or anyone left that he can call a friend. He probably hasn’t had a healthy relationship with anybody in a long time.
IN COMES GRIF! grif interacts with locus when he’s at a very low point. he has no inhibitions, nothing to repress his thoughts and emotions in the presence of another person. he very quickly accepts locus’s change of heart and opens up to him. They do not insult each other or have any ulterior motives. which is already a big change of pace.
Grif initially knew locus as a horrible person, and experienced first hand his many crimes. despite this, he shows enthusiasm and support when told that locus wants to redeem himself.
Locus, on the other hand, despite how inexperienced he is in making friends and being kind and caring, shows compassion and concern towards grif, listening to his inane rambling and accomodating to his needs (allowing grif to bring his volleyballs on the ship).
Grif is exactly what Locus needs in a companion at this point in time, someone who is honest with him, doesn’t have any ulterior motives and accepts his past mistakes while also encouraging him to be a better person.
Locus has found a real friend, after years of an extremely toxic partnership. grif is somebody that he can also demonstrate care and compassion towards, further aiding him in his journey to being redeemed.
In addition, Grif finally has someone that he can be completely honest around. Someone who has accepted him at his lowest and validated his needs, regardless of how absurd they were.
to sort of quote my recent post, locus is showing grif that he is worth the mess. he is not a burden, he is not there just for people to hate. he is just as worthy as anyone else of care and compassion, even at his lowest.
On the other hand, grif is also showing locus that he is worthy of forgiveness, and that there is someone who is able to look past his wrongdoings and treat him as someone to be trusted and appreciated, no matter how unforgivable locus thinks himself to be.
their first interaction being the way that it was really makes their dynamic work, because they begin their partnership without anything to hide from each other. this opens up so many avenues for them to continue having a very emotionally open and honest friendship, since grif has already shown his vulnerable side to locus, and grif already knows how locus used to be and trusts him despite of it.
now i want to compare grif and simmons to grif and locus.
grif and simmons have a long history together. they are attached at the hip and have watched each other grow as people over the years. they know each other better than anyone else.
HOWEVER, they are both very emotionally repressed people. they avoid showing emotional vulnerability, and struggle to even admit that they enjoy each other’s company.
While it is obvious that they are much closer than grif and locus, they are held back by their inability to be vulnerable and deeply communicate their feelings to each other.
grif and locus don’t have this barrier, as a result of the circumstances of how they met. unlike grif’s relationship with simmons, they don’t have a whole history together of being emotionally repressed that determines how they’re used to interacting with one another.
I really think that grif and locus are the exact type of person that the other needed at the time that they meet. They could be each other’s confidant, the one person that they can trust to be fully accepting, in which they don’t need to feel unashamed about being vulnerable around.
#i literally don’t care if they are platonic or romantic or not i just care about them being good for each other.#also i go crazy about grif being out locus’s soft side. we never hear locus use that tone of voice with anyone else except grif!!!!#*bringing out#“i didn’t know you were bilingual” IT WAS SAID IN SUCH A SWEET WAY. NEVER BEFORE HAS LOCUS USED THAT TONE OF VOICE. HELP ME#anyways yeaaaggh. the logrif ever#rvb#red vs blue#dexter grif#rvb locus#samuel ortez#logrif#dick simmons#richard simmons#grimmons

So...is it just me or were the extreme flaws in Arcane season 2 basically the inevitable result of the both-sides politics and general too-enlightened-and-smart-and-cool-to-have-strong-opinions attitude of the first season?
The whole "Suuuure Piltover oppressed Zaun for years through wealth inequality, police violence and ecocide buuut the Zaunites are jerks too! Look! Drugs! Prostitution! Terrorism! (gee I wonder what drove them to do all those things?) in season one became:
"and all of it is just a cycle of pointless violence that will never solve anything and that's why the Zaunites should pretty much just accept their position and patiently wait for Piltover to be nice and grant them basic respect by resolving things peacefully.
See? You can even get one seat at the council which overwhelmingly outnumbers you and still represents your oppressors. Smiles all around! I guess the Zaunites just needed to believe in themselves and be the bigger person in this fight that Piltover started. Because, as we all know, violence has never had a historical record of changing things."
(all of this right in the aftermath of the Gaza war and also Vi's voice actor Hailee Steinfield posed for pics with the actual IDF btw)
The "we support gay rights, as long as one of them's a cop so the audience knows they're not, y'know, one of THOSE gays" became:
"and that's why it's fine that Caitlyn basically coerced Vi into becoming a cop too and then struck her for not letting her endanger a child. CaitVi 5evah! Jinx just needs to grow up and stop being so selfish and jealous and possessive! This kind of volatile highs and lows and emotional turmoil are normal for lesbians, right?"
(like I've seen the whole "7 years in prison vs one month in a lesbian relationship" meme and I get the joke is supposed to be all "haha relationships toxic" but like...is that not literally just lesbophobia?)
The "yeah, we condemn police brutality, IF it's coming from nameless faceless cops who you have no personal connection to whatsoever. If it comes from a main character you're supposed to like, we'll just excuse it away bc they're hot" became:
"and so now all the blame for cops' evil actions, including said main character, will be placed on one generic evil dictator with no exploration of their complicity or the inherent flaws to policing as a system."
"We support mental health awareness! As long as the mental illness leaves you as a hardened badass with cool marketable fight scenes. Deeply rooted emotional scars and unhealthy coping mechanisms are sexy and make you look gritty and tough!" became:
"and that's why all the misery(heheh) from the first season has been ramped up to 11 to the point of feeling gratuitous so we can keep seeing characters constantly sad at all times. And also why now all the fight scenes just basically look like the characters have superspeed instead of at least somewhat believable heightened reflexes from a lifetime of constant violence, leaving them without any of the grounded realism and weight that made them look incredible before"
"Disability deserves representation! Viktor's just such a heckin' valid cool smol bean! As long as it's just basically shown as a reason to feel sad for him and little to nothing else and also he's forced by the plot to be looking for a way to get rid of it."
became
"and now he's looking for a way to solve ALL problems and inequality which has to be a bad thing for some reason and his goal is kind of turned into a suicide metaphor. Also to do it he has to take over the world because we have to keep in line with the original game (even though we already departed from it greatly anyway) and we just made it so it's out of heartbreak over Jayce. Goodness knows we can't just have him actually achieve his original intention of using science and medicine to radically improve society, that would mean fundamentally changing the system!"

i often think back to the times when i was accused of spiritual psychosis, making things up, being crazy, and of being a terrible person with a toxic mindset when i used to wish for support and validation regarding my own insane journey with Lucifer.
Sadly it isn't squeaky clean, but just because my experience is batshit, to me that just means it was that way for me, and doesn't represent how others may experience him. It really punched into aspects of him that had me shitting myself, as well as mirroring the horrors within my soul. I am still reckoning with some tough parts of who I am and my past, and in my experiences he has both helped and challenged me over that (which can be confusing to accept).
I got to experience sides that seemed both holy and utterly infernal- blasting my entire stereotypes of what I thought angels and demons were like into an abyss. And in my experience I've felt both liberated and chained, free yet trapped; trying to resist but being unable to because to face him has meant learning to face myself and all the lies I built my wonky life foundations on.
It delved into many uncomfortable themes ranging from power disparity, violence, a lot of wild and extremely primal sexual encounters that forced me to confront a lot of things I was running from, the difficult balance between devotion and sacrifice; love and ownership- and really unveiled the darkest, most uncomfortable and ugliest spaces inside of my mind and life.
I tried emphasising that most of the scary events happened during my meditation, spiritual dreams or more as an internal thing with some external sensations and sights (like feeling a presence) but even that drew some angry voices.
It hurt a lot thinking "maybe my Lucifer exp is fake and I'm the crazy guy! Nobody else has such a completely terrifying and wild exp with him!"
So over time I gradually withdrew from the internet after all my attempts failed and kept trying to find peace through the mental health system, through trying and failing to keep living a fake life, through books and resources on demonology and various perspectives on deity work; which was ok but left me feeling even more lost and unseen.
My personal experience with him was sexual, overpowering, dominant and terrifying all at once and I used to get so deeply confused as a lot of the posts I read about him are more about his light, relinquishing people from their chains and being warm and soft, which is also really valid btw!
But even today I still ruminate over feelings of jealousy towards others, especially those who tend to connect easier to him than I do or experience him more peacefully and affectionately; as I still have a lot of walls and stuff to overcome, especially in regards to really genuinely trying to see him as he actually is instead of based off my own worldview.
It took me a long time to learn that maybe it's fine that in most stuff I read people experience him differently.
I think my post is just here because whilst I am still learning and growing, I was often told this was the wrong road for me. But as I continue I realise that my extremely challenging and upsetting journey is helping me to grapple with my suppressed emotions and the parts of me that I had long since buried away.
It's a journey that only makes sense to me, if that makes sense? And I wonder if that's also why some can't relate to me or I can't relate to everyone either; maybe we are all on our own paths.
In my upg I guess Lucifer ended up becoming a very unorthodox and powerful guide who helped me in ways that were jaw dropping and nightmare inducing, yet helped me to realise just unhappy I was with the life I had been forced to live before he came along, and all the traumas and pain that nobody could really help me face; because I was trying too hard to be something that was acceptable and loved... But maybe that wasn't right for me.
In my upg he's not always a nice guy or warm sometimes he will destroy my ego and turn all of my beliefs to soup, or even really force me to contend with things I'd rather run away from; and he can be very extreme in behaviour sometimes. He isn't always kind to me and sometimes things have exploded into levels of chaos that have left me scrambling for my marbles or questioning my entire beliefs system, sometimes I even felt bruised and broken.
And the sexual aspects have also been very unorthodox, both reaching the very heights of bliss and deepest pits of terror. I would rather not say anything more as it's a sensitive topic and I have a lot of fears about discussing something so deeply private to me, but I learnt a lot.
However, sometimes he can be super supportive, passionate, warm and friendly too- so honestly, every time I define him it feels so incomplete (and often entirely off the mark)... I think I need to learn how to accept him and his paradoxes; and learn that my perspective also factors into how I may see him, too.
Please do remember this is only my experience. Like if he's a warm and kind guy who wouldn't delve into the terrifying for you- that's okay.
I think I am learning that my experience is maybe not made to be relatable. I would never like to be the one challenging how others see him, even though my experience alone likely does that. I can get if one sees deities as perfect or believes that a deity should never do certain things, and though it is a sucker punch, I do get that I have to accept that my experiences are not universal and do not fit in.
If this post made any of you mad I am sorry, please remember that this is only my upg, it doesn't have to influence how you see him. You can definitely ignore this.
I was compelled to write this from a feeling of unease. I just see a lot of people arguing over what Lucifer is real or fake, and feel a bit sad as everyone's journeys are specific to themselves.
I probably will never post about Lucifer again. I prefer to keep my interactions with deities abd the like completely under lock and key based off past experiences.
I wish you all the best and a great day ahead.

@ anon i am not going to post that ask because you name drop literally every single person even tangentially involved in this and none of those people agreed to be directly mentioned on my blog. I have no interest in facilitating any of my followers to harass anyone involved here, so I think it's best we stop pointing the spotlight at specific people who never willingly stepped forward on my blog.
But i will respond here, and this is the last anonymous message about this im going to respond to because we all really need to move on. So if you want to continue talking about this, you can, again, say it with your whole fucking chest in dms, and not cower behind anon.
"bro, the original post about the vallaslin had you blocked for at least 2 months. he doesn't even know you personally. he did have the decency to block you when you made him uncomfortable months ago too." im not sure how this is relevant to anything being discussed tbh. Of course he doesn't know me personally. that's like... 99% of tumblr mutuals? that's how social media and the internet works. you and i are talking right now and we don't know each other personally. and yeah he had me softblocked since a while ago, im not sure what that has to do with anything. Some friends sent me the og post bc it made them uncomfortable, so I offered my opinion to them in private. Then several more indigenous folk made public comments about it, and i offered an extremely vague, broad opinion that we shouldn't try to force people into agreeing with us. that's all I did lmfao.
"what you're doing to him... and other indigenous folx in the darpc is wrong and i hope you can realize it." Omitted all those names you mentioned. Again, originally all i said was don't try to force people into agreeing with you. A stance which, not for nothing, several other indigenous people endorsed. There is no world in which saying that is doing anyone wrong. That would have been the total end of my statement on the matter btw, had gcldfang not decided it was a good idea to send me anons.
"i saw you support a post from user [name omitted] (now conveniently deleted) that said everyone could do whatever wanted with dalish characters and it would not be racist. to me? that post and your reaction comes off as weaponizing your own identities against other indigenous people to excuse your white friends and make them feel better for participating in racism." So there are two different sentiments at play here. We could say "muns who feel that vallaslin is bad and slave markings are perpetuating racism." and/or we could say "Elves in the game who feel that vallalsin is bad and slave markings are perpetuating racism." both of these statements are kinda problematic but this one is more problematic than the other. It seems like you're saying the latter thing right now, idk whether you would agree with both statements or not, but it seems like right now you're only saying the latter.
But it strikes me as really ironic that you can't see the hypocrisy in saying things like "you can't tell me how to feel about my own culture" and in the same breath saying "your elf cant feel this way about their own culture, or it's racist." there are very clearly at least two canonical perspectives of the Evanuris. One as benevolent creators, and one as tyrannical slavers. It is canon that the Evanuris enslaved people. did some of them willingly serve? Of course. But it's canon, still, that there were slaves, and that perspective is offered by more people than just Solas. It just isn't racist for Elves to feel whatever type of way they feel about learning about that aspect of their culture. It's their culture. You can't tell them how to feel about their own culture.
This has pretty much been my and everyone else's point. Saying "if you think this way, that's racist." is not a good thing to say when it blatantly dismisses both in-game character's valid feeling about their own culture, and other irl cultural perspectives from real people. It's been mentioned by multiple people that facial tattoos have been used for a variety of purposes in other real cultures that were also used to inspire the portrayal of Elves in the game. I'm going to quote someone who sent me a message about this, who has already said it: "no one disagreed that the devs using the vallaslin the way they did was a poor choice. while it's true there have been cultures in history that did use facial tattoos for slaves, it's still an insensitive decision! and NO ONE disagreed with that! but from what I saw, you and roughly 4-5 other indigenous people, as well as several other writers, some white, some white and Otherwise marginalized, and some poc of other sorts were saying: 'hey. we get what you're trying to say here, but saying that your culture's perspective is the only correct/non-racist one is not good and not okay. it silences people of other cultures who see their cultures in these characters. yes the devs were racist and careless but that doesn't mean that erasing the other cultures that contributed is ok, and doesn't mean that you get to tell people of those cultures that their interpretations are inherently Less than yours'. Because that is how that original post read."
What that person pointed out is the "railroading" that i've been talking about. It's one thing to say something like "I and my characters all feel that the evanuris were actually gods and that Vallaslin is a good thing because im upset with the bastardization/villanization of how my culture was used to inspire these things in the elves." and it's a different thing to say "And if you and your characters don't agree with my perspective then you're racist/perpetuating racism, too." because that one cultural perspective isn't the only one that exists. Other cultures have their own perspectives and experiences with facial markings, and those matter, too. And yet even still, we have only ever acknowledged and agreed that the choice for Vallaslin to be used as a symbol for enslavement in the game is racially problematic.
"It feels like you punching down on other indigenous people for protesting their mistreatment. that is why people are blocking you. you are vagueposting about a vaguepost." my criticism of other indigenous people, as an indigenous person, is not punching down. That's not what it means to punch down. Nor did I ever say that they can't or shouldn't protest their mistreatment.
"i understand you like solas. i enjoy the egg too but equating the vallaslin with slave markings is racist. speaking from experience: the stigma against indigenous facial tattooing is a product of systemic racism and colonialism. what the characters say in dragon age is sadly impacted by the writers being racist: this is a fact. also people are allowed to be uncomfortable with your fave being a vessel for developer bias." I think it's a mistake to involve Solas in this conversation, honestly. but alright. Given Solas' experiences, and his own personal perspective, he is justified to feel the way he does about his own culture. That isn't racist. Especially considering that, in canon, the Evanuris did enslave people. But that's the fiction. In real life, again, as it's been pointed out, facial tattooing has been used for a variety of different purposes across multiple different cultures. Some were positive, some weren't. I agree that in western society, as a whole, there is stigma against indigenous facial tattooing that is a product of systemic racism and colonialism.
The characters in dragon age exist within the context of the fiction of their world, which has been influenced by a multicultural mix of real world identities. There is no one correct interpretation of their facial tattoos. Neither in the game or irl, because of the fact that multiple cultures were used as inspo for the Elves. You can't insinuate that the perspective of other real world cultures is racist, which is what it seems like you're doing. The world isn't black and white. Indigenous people are not a monolith. People are allowed to be uncomfortable with vallaslin based both on what it represents within in the fictional context of the game and how facial markings have been used within their own real world cultures. Every character in the game, not just Solas, is a vessel for developer bias. That's how bias works, it's inescapable. I've never said that people aren't allowed to dislike him. But it's curious to me how it's only ever Solas who gets hounded for his perspective and not anyone else who is equally as guilty of developer bias or blatant bigotry.
"coming from a tattooed inuit: don't you dare tell me how to feel about my culture being portrayed in a bad light." I'm not. Nowhere did I ever try to say you or anyone else can't how you feel. In fact, i've only ever said the exact opposite of this. We are all allowed to feel how we feel.
"don't tell me not to be pissed off at the way bioware handled things regarding vallaslin. the discrimination the dalish receive is exactly what i deal with everyday." I'm not. I have only ever agreed that it was wrong of bioware to handle Vallaslin the way they did.
And i've said that blatantly more times than I care to count atp. You and everyone else are right to feel whatever you feel about it, and Vallaslin should never have been used as a symbol of oppression in the game. But you just can't tell other people how to feel about it. It really is simply just that.
#discourse for ts#''that's why people have been blocking you'' when i've GAINED followers in the wake of all ts is ironic af also#really highlights how alienated youre making people of other marginalized cultures feel#ooc#and that's it.#fair warning: if you or anyone else messages me anonymously again i won't respond#i can't keep flooding the dash with the same points you guys are committed to misunderstanding.#it's annoying my followers#if you really want to continue the dialogue you can come off anon and we can talk like adults in dms

working on the next post was frustrating me so i made more of coco's family to relax!! let's hear it for beautiful brown eyes
nico (33), nicole "coco" (23), monica (22), jasmine "jazzy" (18), amir (12), xena (1)
their family situation is very complicated but if you're interested:
nico was an oopsie when their mom was young. she got married and then quickly divorced nico's dad. coco looks up to her brother a lot. he's the kindest, most generous person you'll ever meet (gives you the shirt off his back kinda guy) and he loves coco so much, but he has an intellectual disability as a result of a complicated birth and he was never given the support he needed. he's had problems with substance abuse for a long time. growing up, coco always wanted to be around him, and unfortunately he didn't always do a good job of sheltering her. even though she doesn't blame him, he'll always blame himself for exposing her to his lifestyle.
when coco's mom met her dad, she didn't want to ruin things by getting married again. nevertheless, coco was planned. she was supposed to be the last baby (hence the cute matching names: nico and nicole).
monica came along so quick after coco that they were basically raised like twins, but coco was still very much a protective big sister to her because monica started losing her eyesight as a toddler. by middle school, she could only see light & shapes. she continued to go to the same school as coco, but she didn't get much in the way of accommodations, so coco was the one who helped her the most. she made sure monica never fell behind or felt different – she learned from nico that if she didn't support monica, no one would. they're the only 2 that share both the same birth parents, though monica always got along better with their dad than coco. oh also she's the sister that used to listen to danny's music fjkjsds
jazzy was from their mom's 2nd marriage which didn't last long. she spent summers with her dad in indiana, which made coco so jealous until she actually visited indiana herself lol. she goes to college at purdue so coco doesn't see her much. it also makes coco feel weird that they both started college at the same time though coco is 5 years older. she wants to be the big sister giving advice and helping jazzy through college, but jazzy has her life together more at 18 than coco ever has. she won't admit it, but she does judge coco for her life choices, and she has a lot of valid reasons for doing so. sadly jazzy had a front row seat to some of coco's worst moments. neither of them really know how to move on from that.
their mom is still married to amir's dad. he's the only kid still living with their mom. coco actually spends quite a lot of time with amir; he likes to stay at her apartment when he needs a break from his step siblings (who coco barely knows, since they moved in after she moved out). they also like to get out of the city and go exploring together / hiking
xena is....... complicated. she's the only one here that doesn't have the same birth mom and that's really all i can say. (btw i'm not bringing back the 2018 extreme red blush, the poor thing just has eczema)
#at this point coco is the closest with nico#she loves monica to death but they're in very different places in their lives right now#it's easiest with nico because well. his life is perpetually chaotic which coco can relate to. plus they went through a lot of shit togethe#she feels so much shame comparing herself to her sisters so it makes it hard to connect with them - through no fault of their own#sorry you know i geek out about complicated/strained family dynamics lmao#coco arias#xena#nico#monica#jazzy#amir#i don't think we'll ever meet them but just in case

So I saw fans on twitter saying they were disappointed we didn’t get the aftermath of the soft phumpeem kiss from last week (which, valid and same), but then I also saw some say that phumpeem were acting as if it had never happened in this ep. This I vehemently disagreed with and ended up doing like 20 tweets about why >.>
I figured I would share my thoughts here too, because might as well, my phumpeem brainrot is pretty strong and tumblr deserves phumpeem thoughts too!
I do Not think they are acting like it didn’t happen. Peem is acting much more ‘engaged’ with Phum this episode.
1) he doesn’t seem annoyed with him seriously at any point
2) despite hurrying off when he sees Phum show up, he still opens conversation with him by asking if he wants to come on the first ride with him. They have a mutual back and fourth during the ep, Peem is much more willing to engage, also seen when
3) Peem *texts Phum first* and says he’s gonna show up at his place. Like we SEE how surprised Phum is about this. DEVELOPMENT.
4) the *flirting banter at the café* is on a new level. It’s much more mutually aware that there’s something more between them! The Phum before last week’s ep could tease him about ‘oh are you looking at me because I’m handsome?’ but could not, in my personal opinion, have said ‘oh so you’re saying I’m not special to you? 😏’ - the way they’re both leaning in over the counter really says it all - they’re much more ‘meeting in the middle’ with their interactions/flirtations than before, where, until the kiss, (and please correct me if I’m wrong here), it was much more only Phum who initiated and Peem who responded in one way or another.
5) we also see this meeting in the middle thing when Peem has been teasing him about joining the amusement park rides (btw me 🤝 Phum about those fr), where he teases him into joining, and is ENJOYING phum’s reactions, because they both have fun fucking with each other, but he also knows not to take it too far. Like how Phum’s orders were douchebaggy in nature first, but turned teasing/pigtail pulling/‘I just want your atteeenttionnnn~~~’ later.
tl;dr they’re both much more aware of where they stand and the dance they’re doing after the last ep and it’s NOT as if the second kiss didn’t happen, there’s been a noticeable shift in how they interact.
But if they know this, have become more self-aware, why aren’t they just boyfriends already, you might ask?
WELL, I believe there’s character reasons for this.
We know Peem is in the process of figuring out exactly what his feelings for Phum are, so even if he’s more open to it, is enjoying exploring it, he hasn’t settled on his ‘final answer’ yet. Also, as he mentions to Q, they had an atypical beginning to their acquaintance, so to speak. Also I’m sure there’s many parts of Phum he’s struggling to understand. He’s often visibly confused by who he is/his character, so he probably doesn’t feel ‘certain’ about him yet. Also I bet Peem has personal reasons to maybe not wanting to let someone too close, which I hope later episodes will delve into.
As for Phum, he’s very aware that he’s extremely drawn to Peem and likes him a lot, he’s just a doofus who really doesn’t know how to be open with his emotions, probably to anyone other than Fang. We know he’s only (often alone in his flat, mentions Peem is introducing him to social experiences he hasn’t had before, only beer & fang would play with him etc.) plus it seems like he has had extremely absent parents and has a very strained relationship with his father especially. He probably has 0 frame of reference for what a relationship looks like AND was never taught how to communicate his emotions. That’s why his default setting to ‘new people’ was poser-ish probably; my guess is that’s probably what he saw his parents doing. He’s only starting to open up re: his emotions *because of* meeting Peem, who refuses to take his shit and refuses to let him get away with hurtful nonsense and whom Phum suddenly realises he doesn’t want mad at him and he doesn’t want to hurt.
We see him struggle to navigate this as well. He doesn’t know when or how to apologise, asks his friends for advice because he’s struggling to even *see* how he fucked up at all.Phum was probably treated like that by his parents and his parents acted like that was okay and didn’t apologise, so why should he?
Phum literally says “i don’t know how to make you less angry” and suggests Peem keeps the stuff he bought because maybe his parents had tried to placate him with material gifts? Beer’s advice is to apologise and he does it 3 times because he literally has no idea what else to do.
tl;dr 2: Peem is confused and uncertain in parts still + potential other stuff and phum does not know how to constructively and productively talk about and act on his emotions or express what he wants based on that. Emotional needs & wants? What are those, how do I detect them & like, asking for help to have them met? Is that something you can even do? <- Phum probably

Hunter x Hunter ships I personally don’t like
These are ships that are NOT supported on my page.
Edit: I have left my hater era… while I do not like these ships myself I won’t shame you for liking the legal ones. I am no longer present in ship discourse. I do not like these but I won’t stop others from enjoying them…. With that said please enjoy the LONG ass read.
Please note a couple things before reading.
1, I do not hate any ships for being WLW, MLM or NL (hetero) unless it’s the result of representation erasure (An example of this is in the Owl House Community. People ship Lunter and say that it’s ok because Luz is a canon Bisexual but it’s still WLW relationship erasure!!! I do not support Lunter btw…)
2, I’m gonna mention stuff like proshipping and toxic relationships so please be warned if you’re triggered by those types of things do not read under the cut
3, I’m also gonna talk about ships I lovehate due to having extremely mixed opinions.
Alright that’s all!! Enjoy your reading and please remember to respect my opinions and interpretations of the characters. This will also include spoilers for the entire animated series.
Killunary (Killua x Canary)
There are a couple reasons why I don’t like this ship but it’s mostly because of the power imbalance. Certain employee x employer ships just don’t work due to extreme power imbalance. The main example of this is the Zoldyck family and their abusive nature towards all the butlers, including how Kikyo treats Canary when she got close to Killua.
The other reason is because I see Killua as a heavily MLM coded character. And I’m sorry if you don’t agree but based on both his canon and non-canon interactions with the various women of the story, I don’t think he’s straight. I personally think he might be gay/vincian but it’s up to interpretation!! I cannot see Killua dating a girl. (This includes ships like KilluRetz and Killumane)
Hisomachi (Hisoka x Machi)
Again, Hisoka is a heavily MLM coded character with Machi being the only woman in the series he’s shown possibly romantic interest in. Hisoka himself is an extremely harmful stereotype of a gay man being overly flamboyant but also predatory towards kids and women. That is a stereotype that is shown and pushed VERY often with Hisoka. (If you do view Machi as WLW, which I do, she’s also a harmful stereotype of the mean, man hating, lesbian./lh)
Also the fact that Machi straight up rejected his dinner offer in the Heaven’s Arena Arc should be enough to push the fact that she doesn’t like him…
Edit: while Hisoka is MLM coded I personally see him as a pan man due to some random factors and just cuz I like it that way
Kuroneon (Chrollo/Kuroro x Neon)
Ok I only have like one reason but I feel like it’s validated tbh!!! He literally attacked her and stole her ability. And I don’t wanna go on a whole rant about Neon and her complexities rn but her nen ability, lovely ghostwriter, was essentially the only reason for her father to love her and care the way he did…
Also their age difference urks me ALOT cuz Neon is about the same age as Kurapika (17-19) and Chrollo is pushin 30… T-T
Kurokura (Chrollo/Kuroro x Kurapika)
A lot of people ship them because “lol omg enemies to lovers!!” But like. This isn’t that kind of enemies to lovers hun… :// Chrollo and the troupe literally massacred the Kurta Clan with zero mercy and left Kurapika alone and almost defenseless in an unfamiliar world. He destroyed everything Kurapika had. That’s not something Kurapika would or will forgive easily. Kurapika is literally destroying himself inside out because of what the troupe did to the Kurta Clan. This ship is just ugh it’s so toxic I hate >:(
Also again, even if Chrollo didn’t destroy the Kurta Clan, age difference. Kurapika’s the same age as Neon (17-19) and Chrollo is PUSHING 30!!!!! Icky!!!
Tbh this goes for any of the Troupe x Kurapika… gross age difference and disgusting enemies to lovers dynamic.
Pitokai (Neferpitou x Kite/Kaito)
One of my biggest icks ever is Victim x Killer because like how would YOU feel if you were violently murdered for seemingly no reason and then find out that there are people out there who think you and your killer would be cute if you dated O.O
Yeah it’s like… really toxic. I don’t have the energy to go into all the details of it but Killer x Victim has no reason to be as popular as it is…
Wisky (Wing x Bisky)

(I couldn’t find any GIFs of them from the movie so you get this still image)
Teacher x Student dynamics really ick me as well… in most but not all cases the teacher is somewhat of a parental figure and the student is very young, in most cases a minor!!! We don’t exactly know if Wing was a kid when Bisky taught him nen since she refers to most people younger then as kids but the idea that she was extremely influential in his earlier years and has that older adult figure role in his life makes the idea of shipping them just.. it makes my skin crawl tbh ^^|||
Also there’s a HUGE age difference with Bisky being 57 and Wing being in his early 20s.
Gingkite (Ging x Kite/Kaito)
Again w the teacher x student guys… the same reasons as with Wisky expect we know for a fact that Ging met and started training Kite when he was a teenager! Makes this extra icky.
Again with the age difference! Ging is in his 30s I think maybe 40s? And Kite is in his early 20s. Pretty big age gap!!!
Any incestous Zoldyck ships
The fact that I even have to state this… dude… c’mon…. Incest is NOT cool chat!!
Any ships between the siblings? DISGUSTING!!
Between the kids and the parents? GRODY!!
Between Zeno and his grandkids? OUTRAGEOUS!!
This isn’t even just limited to the Zoldyck family dude… Mito x Ging is a thing apparently…
Any Child x Adult
Again… why do I need to state this… shipping adults x children is WEIRD!!! And NOT OK!!!
Hisoka x Gon? GROSS!!
Killua x Illumi? DOUBLE GROSS!! INCEST IS ALSO NOT OK.
Killua x Machi? STILL GROSS!!!!
Please if you ship canon children with adults… please… just get off my page :^
Merupouf (Meruem x Shaiapouf)
Gonna be so fr w you guys… I used to ship this… i thought they were funny :’) I’VE RECOVERED DW!!! (/lh)
Uh yeah so the power dynamic is really erm!!! /neg I genuinely cannot go into detail about how toxic they are but I’ll try to summarize… Pouf has like a perfected version of Meruem in his head as the king but when Meruem starts to change for the better he rejects it and thinks he knows what’s best for the king and shit!!! Also Meruem treats his Royal guards like shit (at the beginning) their relationship gets only slightly better towards the end but it’s still abusive!!!
Also my friend pointed out that the Royal guards exist solely for Meruem. Like they are Meruem and Meruem only. Everything is for him and that adds like a super fucked up dynamic to this ship…
Also forgot to mention earlier, ANTCEST. All the chimera ants came from the same mom so shipping them is really weird even if they don’t all see eachother as siblings

Ok so that’s all I can think of rn… please try to understand that this is MY interpretation and perception of these characters. It is ok if this is not how you see these characters, but it is how I see them.

I asked Guess to bring back her TikTok about how California tends to get characterized leaning one way or another(and both are VALID AND RIGHT) but TikTok muted it so fuck that I guess
Anyways, California is one of the most popular characters in this fandom, and rather than thinking nobody is correct about his character, it is better to think that EVERYONE is. That people are entitled to rewrite him as they see fit and massacre his character in the most gruesome way because hey he’s just a fictional character :) he’s not real
In fandom, canon is a foundation and a suggestion. It is up to you entirely to stay true to his character, which admittedly is interesting in its own right, or to add your own special interpretation of him.
Me personally, he’s an asshole and he tends to put his foot in his mouth more often than not. Every dislikable feature he has I can reason by saying he’s extremely neurodivergent.
Much love to y’all btw stay safe

Opinions on Milgram characters
I've actually been wanting to do this for some time now lmao. Btw this is just my interpretation of each character, followed by my opinion on said interpretation. Feel free to disagree, I love to discuss with other people. (also cross-posted on Reddit)
Haruka: Okay so what I think happened for him is that he very obviously has a developmental disorder of some sort. I'm not sure exactly what, and I don't really wanna speculate because I'm not an expert. So he, as a child, was neglected by his mom and didn't receive enough attention. This led him to become extremely attached to his childhood best friend, which didn't really affect anything when they were both children. But then, she grew up, yet he didn't. She started to act more maturely, and he didn't. They grew apart, and Haruka couldn't understand why. Or maybe he did, and blamed himself. Anyways. Yada yada, he tried getting attention from his mom by killing animals, he did get attention (the wrong kind), kinda went off and killed his ex bestie as well, either out of frustration or for literally more attention.
Now, my general opinion of him? Neutral. I don't love or hate him. Maybe a very mild dislike, but that's only because I find it kinda disturbing how he calls Muu his mom.
Yuno: Abortion. I like Yuno. Not because of the whole "omg girlboss slayyyy you have total control over your body yas queen" thing, because honestly yall have got to stop saying stuff like that. I like her because she wants to be recognized as a "mature adult" who can actually take responsibility for her actions, instead of being degraded into this poor innocent girl who knows what the shit is. She's so impartial to everyone, even herself, yet she knows and acknowledges the fact that she's still human who has emotions and empathy, which is why she sometimes tries to help out. Yet, she doesn't deny the fact that she seeks interesting and new things, leaving behind others when most would feel guilty. 10/10, relatable character.
Fuuta: HATE. He is so... thoughtless?? I absolutely hate people who gets so caught up in their cause that they literally cannot see anything else. They don't stop to think, "oh, maybe what I'm doing is wrong? Maybe there is a better way to go about this?". Now, to be fair, I don't know much about Fuuta. So please, feel free to disagree with me about him, but I cannot stand the way he didn't stop to think that maybe cancelling others would push them to suicide. That just shows his naivety. I acknowledge that his passion is admirable (passion for what I'm still thinking about), but passion without the knowledge to help is just being a stubborn idiot. His impulsiveness is also another very strong ick of mine.
Muu: I don't have much of an opinion on her character, but I do enjoy the concept that she represents. My personal theory is that she represents how somebody can be both a victim and a bully at the same time. She is at her very core, human, but without all those polite manners and social skills drilled into her. She turns pitiful and desperate when disadvantaged, but turns cocky, arrogant and confident when she has power. She is so, undeniably, human. And yet she can also be kind at times. She has such a f-ked up perception of everything, so maybe yall didn't catch it, but she's still trying to be nice in her own warped way.
Shidou: Eh. He's like, okay?? Not gonna comment on his crime because I don't feel anything towards it. But his attitude is sort of annoying. The way that he clings to his role as a doctor in prison after trying to forsake his life, the way he keeps trying to bring up age with Es (yes I know age is a valid point but bringing that up just makes it seem as if you're looking down on Es only because of their age. it's degrading), all that stuff just kinda gets on my nerves a bit. I appreciate what he's doing for the prison,,, but I don't really like him.
Mahiru: Love her. I love the way she tries to stand up for her ideals, no matter how much society + Es tells her it's wrong. She's been hurt so much yet she's still so optimistic, bright and hopeful about love. I love her. Granted, it may be because I also have fucked up views of love like her which is why I gave her such a high rating compared to like, Fuuta.
Kazui: Neutral. I would have wanted to scream at him about just,,, not telling lies, but I can acknowledge how hard it is for some people to not care about their image, especially if they grew up in a traditional household.
Amane: A bit positive and negative at the same time. I dunno, I just kinda like the way that she found a way to adapt to her horrible circumstances. Although that way is by weaponizing her religion to protect herself, but yeah. Unhealthy circumstances calls for unhealthy coping methods. What I dislike is how she doesn't even want to give other thoughts a try. Like she won't stop and think about other options, not even for a little bit. But then again, it's literally been drilled into her since childhood to not betray that religion, so I guess that makes my point invalid.
Mikoto: Why, why is he so popular?? What?? I'm so confused. Honestly I just think he's neutral. Just like, oh look, another victim of the toxic work environment who found a terrible way to cope. I don't have any feelings about John either, although I do admire his dedication to Mikoto. He's just so,,, uninteresting?? Someone please tell me why he is so popular, because I gen want to try to understand and see his appeal.
Kotoko: My wife. I'll try not to let bias get in the way of this one.
Okay I'm gonna be so fr rn I absolutely detested her at first. She's like Fuuta,,, but so much worse. She takes her ideals to the absolute extreme, pushes down all guilts and feelings about others to carry out her "justice". She's so unwilling to admit that she likes the feeling of beating bad guys up, the moral high ground it gives her. She's not only hurting other people, but also herself. Mf thinks she's in an edgy movie where she's the anti-hero who goes against the government and is constantly misunderstood, like girlie stop. Stop and THINK about what you are doing, see the death, destruction and harm you've brought about not just to others but also yourself?? Goddamn.
I'm not even sure why I like her LMFAO. All my opinions about her is just, she's human scum who needs lots of therapy to stop hurting herself and others.
Es: Love my non-binary guard. They care so much for the prisoners, trying their absolute best to understand them while coping with their body and mind being infiltrated by us. I always feel so guilty having them bear the burden of explaining the guilty decisions to the prisoners,,, just want em to be happy and work-free. I admire their dedication to truly, truly feel for the prisoners, try to understand the entire context instead of the one on the surface. Yeah, they act immaturely, they're a 15 year old who has no memories, no clue as to where they are, clinging onto their role as a warden even if it makes them look pathetic because that's the only thing they've ever known. It's their only sense of "identity" they have that gives them power and pride.
Jackalope: HATE HATE HATE HATE GO BACK TO YOUR ROOM I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOU IN TRIAL 2 END gOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BACK TO WHICHEVER MISERABLE BASEMENT YOU CRAWLED OUT FROM AND STAY IN THERE FOR THE REST OF ETERNITY. JACKALOPE IS A FATHER AND CARES FOR ES?? I CALL BS. HE DUMPED SO MUCH WORK ON ES, ACTS SHIFTY AND MANIPULATIVE ALL THE TIME, DOESN'T EXPLAIN ANYTHING TO ES, AND YOU EXPECT ME TO LIKE HIM?????

Hey Ro, Questions for the Dignity of Choice section for Fools Rush In:
!!SPOILS AHEAD (Repost Warning)!!
What's the timeline for End Game in relation to Fools Rush in? I'm assuming the events happen prior to Sketch & Keeps relationship.
Also, if Buck sacrificed himself for the soul stone, how is he still alive in Fools Rush In? (love your take on this, btw, that does seem like a choice he'd make)
Do you think Nomad Steve (comics/movie) is most similar to Dignity of Choice Steve? I'm surprised to see how far he's been stripped of himself within 3 months of being away (although, the isolation certainly doesn't help). There's a part of me that believes Steve would sacrifice Buck for Keeps, but this also feels like it goes against his core. That said, I don't know much about Steve Rogers when desperate (in relation to the comics), but I have to believe Nomad is the most relatable to this.
Hello! Okay, so first, I'd say Fools Rush In (starts with 'Walk It Off') takes place a few years after Endgame, but it's vague for a reason. It doesn't really matter an exact amount.
Long, rambly, spoiler-stuff below the cut.
Second, I changed...a couple of things about Endgame, one of which is describing how the Stones are returned. I thought it would be interesting to have a soul be given as a reward for sacrifice, just like the Soul Stone is, but see, because I wanted it to happen and I'm the writer lol Bucky and Natasha have a lot in common--shared experience and, in the comics, a romantic history,--it seemed right that he would want to help both Steve and try to get Nat back after such a selfless act.
Look, I get it, I'm sure the alter on Vormir doesn't work this way. It's a stretch. BUT! But what if the equally selfless act of self-sacrifice from Bucky was enough to earn him Natasha back from the dead. Basically, you cannot receive the Soul Stone for nothing; however, I bet it is not enough to simply toss the Stone into the abyss and think your loved one will be returned. It's because he offered up himself and the Stone, clutching it as he fell, hoping and praying that would be enough, that the reward was both of them waking in those puddles far away. They've lost plenty. They've given up everything. They get a reward. I don't even care if that's Macguffin-logic or optimism. I want them alive, I want them happy, and so there. Boom.
Absolutely Nomad is most similar to 'Dignity's' Steve Rogers, but remember, Nomad had friends he traveled with and access to at least basic resources. The idea in Dignity is that he was totally isolated without a variety (or even enough) food, inclement weather conditions, inadequate shelter, and three months to play a guessing game of have-I-still-failed-my-wife constantly.
Yeah. Nobody liked that bit where Steve was ready to shoot Bucky to save Keeps. I've gotten flack for that. I get it. I can only say that my logic is if he kills Bucky, Steve would likely hate himself, but if you die, Steve will want to die, too. It was a lose-lose, split-second decision that he luckily did not have to follow-through on. It's not my cleanest storytelling. I am sorry that it upset some people.
By the time you're threatened directly in Dignity, there is the muzzle of a gun digging into your temple, Steve is withered and in no shape to fight quickly, and Bucky is unwilling to risk himself fighting but a struggle possibly leading to your death. Zero good options. I'm so sorry, blorbos. I shall live in shame.
I don't know if Comics-Nomad has ever displayed any behavior that extreme, and I kinda really hope the writers did not do something this horrible to him because...it's awful. We work out okay in the end. Lots of struggles to get back to real-life.
One last thing I want to say is I, personally, am so mad at canon Endgame because it showed Steve abandoning Bucky a) without giving a valid conversation or development to justify that and b) for the possibility of a happy-ever-after. There was every chance Peggy would be different in an alternate timeline or the past or whatever the hell those f***ers tried to retcon us into. There was every chance Steve would need to reveal himself or fight or participate in his new life with Peggy elsewhere. There was every chance he would be needed by his friends in his REAL GODDAMN TIMELINE, so I refuse and that's dumb.
HOWEVER, in Fools, by that point, Steve has found the love of his life, you--in theory--will be directly saved by the choice to shoot Bucky, and I tried to include some conversation and development to show Bucky understands the extremes of that decision. Maybe that's not different enough, but it's all I got.
Thank you for asking!
I really hope that answers your questions and that you do not hate me forever now. I should probably have never written Dignity at all. It was/is an emotional travesty, likely a mistake. My bad.
#ro answers#oh christ it's a very rough answer#i don't know how to tag this and i'm afraid to try#fools rush in series#spoilers
