Lyra is a human who grew up with her closeted gay dad, who was a Starship Ranger. She would visit the different planets with him, including Bug World. During her time there, she met a baby Scorpion named Pincer. They were the best of friends, but she had to go when the Galactic League left. They completely lost contact. On one of their missions, when Lyra was about 13, her father passed away in a tragic accident on the job. This caused Lyra to leave once they returned to Earth and develop a deep hatred for GLEE along every Starship Ranger. Flash forward years later, and Lyra is plotting revenge on the Rangers. She's planning to sabotage their mission by reprogramming the robots to destroy the ship and leave them stranded. Lyra joined the team by pretending to want to be a ranger. She certainly wasn't expecting to be back on Bug World. While Lyra was exploring, she came across the mosquito brothers, who obviously weren't fond of her. However, before the mosquitoes could attack, Pincer showed up. Lyra INSTANTLY recognized him, but he had zero clue who she was- Anyways, now, they work together to try to destroy the rangers (even post-musical).

Summary (for this chapter): Abiding by his father's orders, Prince Kyungsoo spies on the wandering troupe's spring festival performance. He finds himself drawn to their performance, especially that of the acrobat on the tightrope, growing curious about the troupe's true intentions.

A/N: It took a long time but here is the very first chapter. Thank you so much, anon, for this request. My imagination has been running wild with this series. You probably asked for a one-shot, but this type of story called for a multi-chaptered development.

Chapter 1: Duty vs. Desire

A flock of birds guided the townspeople to the outskirts of the forest, along with the sound of the drums that the troupe performers played among the crowd. As the sun set, vibrant, colorful banners and glowing lanterns began decorating the woods, illuminating the glade where the famous wandering troupe had settled for the performance to celebrate the start of spring.

Families and friends strolled along, arms linked and laughing harmoniously. People of all ages wandered with curious eyes and joyful smiles as the resonating sound of drums initiated an anticipatory beat coinciding with the growing excitement of the gathered multitude. Just when the chatter intensified, the fireflies above began to twinkle. Sparkling eyes witnessed how the tiny bugs added a magical ambiance to the night.

A sole figure leaped out from the shadows of the tree boughs, landing with a dramatic flair and a bowed head at the center of the clearing, opening the act. The acrobat’s impressive skills and graceful movements captured the undivided attention of the audience. A discreet pair of eyes that carefully observed from the shadows were especially mesmerized. The pull was so strong that the entrances and changes of the performers, as well as the details about them, started slowly fading away.

Prince Kyungsoo’s breath caught in his throat, his gaze transfixed on the performance unfolding before him. The acrobat’s maneuvers drew him in like a hypnotist as he lingered uneasily at the tree line, torn between duty and curiosity. The spell broke once more acrobats made their entrance, and the first one disappeared back into the shadows. He was only abiding by his father’s orders to spy on the wandering troupe that the people seemed to love, searching for signs of dissent against the crown. However, the artistry that the troupe showed in their movements, combined with the music and their comedic theatrics, started to distract him from his mission.

Taking flight on the tightrope, the acrobat who started the performance reappeared. Kyungsoo felt himself drawn in, taking step after step forward, getting closer and closer. The acrobat moved as if dancing on air. A serene smile under the elaborate mask evidenced the elegant artistry of his movements. There was an undeniable sense of fearlessness that defined his craft. It was contagious, and Kyungsoo discovered a feeling he didn’t quite understand stirring within.

The prince felt his inner balance waver; the sense of freedom that the aerialist exuded in each step reflected his own suppressed yearning for adventure and the longing to explore a life beyond the confines of the palace walls. At the same time, he couldn’t deny the beauty of his smile and how it started a fire within. Even at his expense, Kyungsoo laughed and smiled at the acrobat’s comedic performance of the crown prince while on the tightrope.

Unaware of being in front of the crowd, the prince caught the performer smiling in his direction. A swift glimpse of his bright eyes sent a flutter through his chest, and even in the dimmed light coming from the lanterns, he knew he wouldn’t be able to forget the light within them.

“Your Highness.” The whispered voice from his guard brought him back. “You’re too exposed here; we should go back to our last location.”

The prince finally realized where he was. His guard was right; even in disguise, he could be noticed faster by any knowing eye possibly keeping a watch on him. But before they could move on, he caught one of the members of the troupe running deeper into the forest.

The guard noticed the prince’s hesitation, but he managed to see the man too. “Should I follow him and catch him?”

The prince was still static. He knew it was the perfect opportunity to advance on his mission, but kidnapping someone to interrogate them felt too extreme for him. Kyungsoo only managed to let out a resigned sigh and nod, prompting his guard to follow his orders and pursue the man.

As Kyungsoo observed the troupe interacting with the spectators, offering flowers to children and bringing smiles to everyone’s faces, he couldn’t help but question the true intentions of his father when he urged him to spy on the troupe. It was a familiar awareness that he couldn’t just ignore again.

There was so much kindness and gentleness in their performance. They weaved tales about the royals that subtly alluded to each of their identities, but these were mere generalizations and deductions about them. The staging seemed celebratory, making him question the severity of the threats his father had warned him about. Perhaps, there was more to this group than met the eye, and their routine performances held the hidden messages that required his closer attention.

Someone was watching him. Even when lost in thought, his instincts caught the growing density in the air. Just as he was looking in front of him, a figure moved on the other side of the crowd. Vigilant, the prince maneuvered through the commonality, taking care not to collide with those around him. He tried to blend in, trying not to be perceived, and followed as he discreetly trailed his guard.

Once the prince caught sight of his guard, he noticed that he managed to capture the member of the troupe without causing any harm.

“Your Highness, we have apprehended him,” the guard reported, his voice filled with determination and loyalty.

Kyungsoo glanced at the man, his eyes searching for any signs of malice or rebellion. Yet, all he saw was fear and confusion, not the dangerous insurgence that his father tried to convince him about.

“Well done, Aeron. Escort him back to the palace,” Kyungsoo commanded, his voice firm yet filled with a hint of compassion. “We will interrogate him there… but I want to know more about this troupe and their intentions before we proceed.”

The guard bowed, taking a small glance at the frown on the prince’s face, understanding his hesitation. Making their way back to the palace, Kyungsoo couldn’t shake off the feeling that he needed to find out more about this troupe. He was determined to uncover the truth and see it with his own eyes.

The journey back seemed to pass in a blur, with the prince’s mind still spinning with questions sparked by the troupe’s performance.

His performance.

The look on the troupe member’s face that they were taking away wasn’t helping either. The conflicting feelings within him were burdening his conscience.

Still following procedure, Kyungsoo imprisoned the man before he requested an audience with his father. The guards let him in once they received the king’s approval.

As Kyungsoo entered the throne room, unease stirred within him, wondering in what state he might find his father. He was aware that it would be almost impossible for the king to accept his request, but his steps were steady as he allowed a small spark of hope to remain.

The imposing throne engulfed the hunched form of the king. His eyes wandered aimlessly around the room, seemingly oblivious to Kyungsoo’s presence, as if he didn’t exist at all. It wasn’t something he hadn’t witnessed before, since the king’s deteriorating mental condition had been evident for years already. It had worried Kyungsoo even when the relationship with his father was already too ruptured after his mother’s death.

Kyungsoo bowed cautiously, his senses on high alert as he attempted to unravel the enigmatic nature of the king himself. “Father, I have advanced on the mission and detained a troupe member to interrogate him.”

“Why haven’t you killed him yet?” The king let out an unsettling laugh, making Kyungsoo flinch and look back at him.

Taking a deep breath, he kept his composure. “Allow me to speak with him first, before other methods are implemented,” Kyungsoo pleaded calmly. “I will inquire about their whereabouts and performances while I keep spying on them. I strive to make this a successful mission once the entire troupe is caught.”

“You must not show weakness, or the wolves will rend this kingdom.” The king uttered under his breath in an endless echo.

Kyungsoo stared as his fight or flight instincts reacted at the familiar murmurings. He had seen the toll that ruling had taken on the king’s mind. In his heart, he still grieves the heroic figure he had seen in his father, even if it had been but a child’s impression. Now, through wariness and trepidation, the prince can’t let any vulnerability show if he wants to get his father to at least consider his strategy.

“Father,” he breathed and gathered his composure, carefully selecting his words for his father to listen, even when they could burn through his throat, “my aim is to eradicate all of the treacherous troupes that dare challenge your reign. I require valuable information, for that the prisoner would serve useful.”

“Weak boy,” the king whispered, yet Kyungsoo managed to hear. “Do as you must, and bring me facts, not fanciful suspicions. If they scheme revolt, they die. You have three days.”

“But, father, the hunting games—”

“I said three days!” His yell resonated throughout the entire room, even reaching the guards outside.

Kyungsoo clenched his jaw to restrain his own anger as he bowed and proceeded to leave. His mind was in turmoil—three days were not enough if he wanted to find the truth without hurting innocent people. The hunting games were now overlapping his mission time span, leaving him with only a day to carry it through.

As the prince walked out in a hurry, his guard Aeron followed. Kyungsoo made his way back to the prison where the troupe member was. A clear intention set his pace. Something within called for his compassion to remain until clear proof contradicted his intuition.

Upon arriving, the prince noticed that the man hadn’t touched the food he ordered to be served to him. Kyungsoo crouched down with a sigh. “You must eat something,” he whispered to the man. Taking the spoon, he took a bite of the porridge. His guard called at him, alarmed, but Kyungsoo stayed calm and smiled.

“You don’t have to trust me. I sent my guard after you and have you locked up here, but… I just want to talk,” he said with a calm and respectful tone. “This isn’t so delicious. Aeron, please ask for a better meal. I’ll eat here with him, and please stay outside while we talk.”

Aeron’s expression didn’t match the acceptance of his nod and bow, yet he still followed the prince’s orders. As he brought the grand dinner, he hesitated, but the prince insisted that he leave. Aeron was a little intimidating if only his height was taken into account—his face was too friendly and innocent—but it was still better for him to stay outside not to frighten the troupe member any further.

The prince started feasting as soon as his guard walked out, but the captive troupe member was still not at ease. Kyungsoo stopped eating and looked at the man. “I truly apologize for the circumstances that brought you here against your will. I hope you can trust my words; harming you is not my intent.”

He stopped to try to read into the man’s face. “Will you not share your name so that I may address you as a friend rather than a prisoner?” Kyungsoo offered with a slight smile tugging on the corner of his lips.

The troupe member dared to look up at the prince, recognizing that his tone hadn’t been harsh at any moment. Yet, at his still-present hesitancy, the prince continued his monologue, trying to convey his sincerity. “I saw tonight’s performance. Your troupe is tremendously experienced and talented. I have to admit, it lifted hearts as mine has not in years…” A small sigh took his imagination back to the acrobat on the tightrope. His determination only heightened.

“Share with me your troupe’s ways and aspirations, and I promise that no harm will befall you unjustly. I only wish to learn the truth in hopes of finding a peaceful path forward.”

The man eyed him warily. It was the very first moment that Kyungsoo saw defiance in him. Yet his eyes held no hostility, only a performer’s passion. “Then why imprison me? We’re but humble performers bringing joy to the people.”

“I know,” the prince replied, “but my father sees otherwise, and I must navigate intricate politics to change his mind… or rather find a way to disobey his orders without him noticing.”

Tension started easing as he comprehended the prince’s intentions. “Jay. They call me Jay,” he softly said as he grabbed the piece of meat that had called his attention since the food platter was brought. He chose to trust the prince, hoping to help his troupe and keep them from harm. Hoping that his faith wasn’t betrayed.

Their conversation extended into midnight, sharing both light and heavy truths as they finished their meal. As trust began to bloom, Jay opened up about the troupe’s wandering ways and their unwavering passion for captivating performances. Kyungsoo learned that the troupe was still in the town he had visited for the spring celebration, with some more performances left taking place near the market.

The next afternoon found Prince Kyungsoo making his way through the lively market crowds, his demeanor calm yet focused. Though duty required vigilance, his heart swelled with curiosity to comprehend the vibrant community that Jay had depicted his troupe to be and to uncover the underlying discontent beneath the facade of festivities.

His brother Hyun chatted amiably with vendors, brightening as colorful wares and foods caught his youthful eye, which brought a fond smile to Kyungsoo’s face as he cherished the carefree joy that remained untouched by the weight of his own burdensome responsibilities on that particular day. He hadn’t planned for his brother to join him, but upon hearing him talk about the market before breakfast, Kyungsoo was unable to deny the younger one’s request.

Aeron accompanied them, while two guards stayed behind to ensure Jay’s safety as he remained imprisoned, maintaining the illusion in the presence of the king. The prince found himself once again entangled in a perilous game. He could only strive to fulfill his mission without causing more harm.

“Kyungsoo! Sorry, hyungnim,” his brother called out, snapping Kyungsoo out of his reverie. He couldn’t deny the rush of emotions that surged within him upon hearing his brother utter his name, fearing the possibility of being recognized. It was more than mere luck that his brother only said it when they were close.

“What do you have there, brother?” Kyungsoo asked, taking a deep breath to regain his composure.

Hyun’s face lit up as he showed Kyungsoo the items he found. “Do you think Riyoon noona would like this bird barrette? How about this mirror for Hwayoon noonim? Since I broke her favorite one, maybe she won’t be so angry if I bring her a new one.”

Kyungsoo giggled at his brother’s innocence. “You know them better than I do. These are beautiful indeed; let’s get them these if you approve.”

With a clear of his throat, Aeron interrupted. “The people seem to be gathering now; the show must be about to start,” he informed them, and Hyun sparked up leading the way forward.

Maintaining a careful distance from the younger prince, Aeron whispered at Kyungsoo. “The guards are already in position to keep an eye on anyone suspicious, regarding the mysterious person you saw last night among the crowd.”

“Thank you, Aeron. Let’s hope it was only a paranoid thought; instead, let’s enjoy the celebrations.” Kyungsoo placed his hand on Aeron’s shoulder, reassuring him of his lightened mood even in the circumstances they found themselves in. Aeron wasn’t so sure about taking the mission so lightly, but he trusted the prince, so he still tried to remain alert while trying to unwind and enjoy the show.

The crowd was as lively as the one from the night before. But a sudden expectant hush fell over as some vendors and travelers joined at the back. Prince Kyungsoo scanned with intrigue but didn’t miss his brother’s delighted gaze.

Rumbling drums played an ominous sound. It set a different tone already, compared to the spring festival performance. The prince felt Aeron’s concerned look over him, but he dismissed him and focused on finding the acrobat who set his soul free. Kyungsoo awaited patiently, but a startling laugh alerted him.

A woman wearing a crown just like his father’s swirled around the drummers as she laughed and danced. The people seemed to enjoy the spectacle as they chuckled and applauded. Jay had been honest; this performance felt more challenging.

Veils magically moving with the wind drew the crowd’s attention away. The woman dressed as the king was standing on a throne. Four dancers held the veils as dresses and masks, twirling at the same pace. Other troupe members soared from the back, looking like lords and officials from the castle. The story started looking too real for the prince.

Kyungsoo flinched as the woman drew a prop sword and started dancing along, still acting in a manic way. Knowing what came next, the prince squeezed his eyes shut, but the roar of the crowd made him want to see what happened. The astonishment was palpable.

It was him.

Skipping through the crowd, the acrobat who filled the prince’s thoughts interrupted the scene. The drums stopped, but his heart kept the beat going within.

“Hyungnim! That was incredible! Did you see that acrobat?”

Kyungsoo heard his brother, but he was too busy contemplating the object of his admiration to answer him. The audience offered an enthusiastic applause. As the prince clapped, mesmerized by the aerialist, a familiar voice drawled beside him.

“Back again, cousin? One might think you’re growing fond of these entertainers.”

Prince Kyungsoo’s joy disappeared; he frowned and sighed inwardly at Prince Yeongwon’s sly tone. Though he had hoped to keep this outing discreet, of course his cousin would take notice. “If you’re so determined to follow my movements, I must be more careful not to leave tracks for you.” Kyungsoo’s tone held a subtle warning through his smirk.

“Just like at the festival?” Yeongwon raised an eyebrow and looked back at the troupe. Kyungsoo was nervous, but he managed to camouflage it with a gaze full of resentment and indignation towards his cousin’s behavior.

Yeongwon chuckled and smirked at Kyungsoo. “You’ve piqued my curiosity. You seem utterly enthralled by these performers, cousin, when by rights you should be attending to your princely duties.” He hummed mockingly. “What fascinates you so about these traveling actors that draws you to these performances time and again?”

Kyungsoo was struggling to easily let out his breath; his anger was growing, but before he could respond, Prince Hyun tugged on his sleeve excitedly. “Is that the end? Can we watch more? Please?”

“I’m afraid not, Your Highness,” Aeron interjected in his stoic tone, hoping to distract everyone from the tense moment that Yeongwon created. “We must return to the palace before dusk or risk questions.”

Yeongwon opened his mouth as if to lead to another pointed inquiry, but Kyungsoo cut him off swiftly. “You’ve come back for the hunt, I assume. Entertain us back to the palace with your stories if you must. The preparations will start soon. Hyun, Aeron, we must be on our way.”

Kyungsoo took one last longing look back at the troupe before steering their group towards the market outskirts, hoping the dense crowds might deter Yeongwon from continuing his prying. But from the calculating look in his eyes, the prince knew this conversation was far from over. His cousin’s curiosity had been piqued, and Kyungsoo would need to stay several steps ahead if he wished to maintain secrecy of both his mission and his growing feelings for the acrobat.

Random Asahna Headcanons and Facts

(but since it’s an oc it’s actually canon :P)

As a Padawan:

She has up pictures of Anakin, Obi Wan, and Madeline (my friend bri’s oc) on her walls and has definitely talked off Ahsoka’s ear asking about what it’s like to be Anakin’s padawan.

Especially during the Clone Wars, I feel like padawans are much more rowdy and rebellious, so I’m definitely leaning into that with Asahna, especially with her best friend (if you make out with your friends) being Caleb Dume.

She and Cal met during one of her studious phases when she fell asleep in the library and Cal lightly nudges her awake. She immediately becomes fascinated with this shy, fiery haired boy. She hunts him down soon after and follows him around quite a bit, before introducing him to Caleb. She basically pleads with Caleb if “they could keep him”.

As mentioned above, while nothing is specifically lined out in terms of romance, Asahna and Caleb sneak around in have kissing sessions throughout the temple. This all started when they ended up on their second mission together (after meeting on their first one) and they were the last two around the fire and just looking at stars. Asahna initiated it…

The little trio loves to sit by the fountain and read or relax once they have gotten back from their missions.

Asahna absolutely has a fascination with bugs which mostly dies out after the Geonsian brain worms. She still occasionally ventures to the nature area of the temple and likes to watch little beetles crawl up the trees.

Even at 15, she likes to hang around with younglings and teach them what Yoda allows. She has so much love for the future jedi, which is what leads her to meeting a 4 yr old Leysha.

Although she is a very rebellious padawan, she deeply respects her master and those who have helped raise her into who she is. She often goes and meditates with Yoda and seeks his counsel.

As a fugitive (about the next decade after Order 66):

She absolutely loves hot chocolate! She loves to brew up some for her and Leysha (the youngling she saved) while they sit on her bunk curled up with a soft blanket and a holonet show on. She loves to drink it late at night and first thing in the morning (a very tired asah below).

Asah makes sure that Leysha stays on the ship whenever she has to work a job. Whether that is meeting up with an informant or dropping off some smuggled weapons. This also means that she has stocked up on toys and things for Ley to do while she is left alone.

As much as Asahna claims that their mosswa (original creature, inspo down below), Gigi, is for Ley, she can’t deny how much love she has for the mossy mammal when it curls up on her shoulder when it’s late at night and she is alone in the cockpit, piloting the DawnShredder (YT-2400) to a new planet.

Even though there are about 4 crew rooms on the DS and they each technically have their own rooms, Leysha and Asahna sleep in the same room and most nights, on the same bunk. Mostly due to Asahna wanting to be able to comfort Ley after nightmares.

She is certainly guarded and a much more hardened version of herself but for Leysha’s sake, she puts on a smile and makes sure to be what she had needed in the last 10 years for Ley.

As a rebel:

She meets up with an informant who happeneds to be Hera. Out of the two existing Ghost crew, she finds Hera more attractive in the beginning. The jet juice certainly makes Kanan look better.

She has the exact same coping skills as Kanan, aka being an alcoholic and a slut. Which is exactly how she meets Kanan… by getting drunk and hooking up with him.

That doesn’t stop her from stealing weapons from the Ghost (Kanan took her back to his cause she never brings men to the DS because she doesn’t want to disturb Ley).

Asahna and Kanan do not recognize each other and will not for a couple years.

Zeb is the first person that Asahna genuinely connects with. It was mostly due to the fact of trauma bonding and having to deal with watching your people die (she was at the temple during 66).

She constantly fights with Chopper as a way to release stress. Sure her and Kanan hook up to do that too but what’s more fun than yelling back and forth with a droid that happens to be a war criminal.

Asah never gives up the DawnShredder. It sits on lothal and from time to time, her and Ley sleep on it as a form of sleepovers. Which means that her and Ley bunk together on the Ghost which is alright because they had practically been doing that before joining the Ghost crew.

#73 Anxiety

So... Brianna’s a character who I created before Chamomile, and was originally considering forming a new original story with her based on the idea of “write what you know”. For me, that’s crippling nostalgia. I decided not to abandon these story ideas even when I decided to use her design for Cammie’s best friend, demoting her from main character of her own work.  (By the way, I planted that seed as early as this pin-up just for my own amusement, which predates the comic by a few months - see the picture frames on the shelf in the background (ignore the really small ones, they were just scribbles lol).

Anyway, like Brianna, I get a bit obsessive over trying to retain all my childhood “things” in a bubble seperate from adult life whenever I can - for example, I was bothered when Shrek 4 jokingly used an Enya song that is of great sentimental value to me in a parody vacation commercial thing, like, how dare they.  I’ll sometimes save particularly nostalgic media viewings for weeks where I’m off work, and have muted all my work-related whatsapp groups etc so I’m not getting “adult-life” buzzing in my pocket etc. Thankfully, none of this is to any kind of clinical level where I’d have a nervous breakdown or anything over it, it just really bugs me.  Anyway... in the “what personal issues shall I give to which OC”, Brianna drew the short straw on that one.  Cammie’s advice to Brianna here is basically what I desperately try to tell myself and act upon (and usually fail or end up disappointed that I allowed myself to not indulge my obsessiveness lol).

While I didn’t mention it for the commentary on that comic, this is also what drives Brianna’s issue in #26 - the one where they go to the pumpkin patch.

On a lighter note!  I’ve never been anywhere that offers a “French Fry Sundae” but I’m pretty sure they must exist.  I imagine this as an intentional, luxury version of the blissful act of dipping hot, salty McDonalds French Fries into cold, creamy McDonalds Sundaes, an indulgence introduced to me by my RL friend Julie (who I now owe a life debt to but, worth it etc).

#74 Gone

As oppose to trying to keep a handle on making Brianna’s pokey-back-of-house design TOO quaint, I allowed myself to design the exterior of Milky’s, this perfect nostalgic place, to be fittingly unusual and fun with it’s tiny, perfectly-kid-sized bench on the left and adorable little miniature garden complete with picket fence, grass, bushes and a pond on the right. The mascot and name of the place wasn’t overtly inspired by anything, just the first thing I imagined. I definitely wanted those elements to not be too cool, the kind of thing that once upon a time would’ve been appealing to a kid but looking at it now, is embarrassingly dated and clearly designed as an uncreative adult’s idea of what kids would like (like... let’s put a face on a milkshake cup and have it saying “Hey kids!”, c’mon).

To credit some more blatant inspiration, the mini-joke halfway through of Cammie reading about Uncle Milky’s death mid-sentence was definitely my own spin on a classic gag that was a favourite of mine in both The Simpsons (“Then I get into a skydiving accident and have to be rushed to the... GRAVEYARD!?”) and Gilmore Girls (“Four hours later, Sniffy was dead...  Sniffy was DEAD!?”).

Final comment is that that particular kind of chipboard used to board up windows sometimes is one of those mundane things I never imagined I’d have to figure out how to draw.

#75 Gone

We dip a little more into Brianna’s history of having divorced parents here - while my own parents are divorced, Brianna being so overtly affected isn’t based off my own experience, I was young enough to kind of just accept everything going on in my own life.  Beyond that, the goal of this comic was to just be as sickly cute as possible, lookit babby Cammie and Bri!!!

#76 Better

Again, here Brianna chastises her obsession with nostalgia in a manner that I really always try to act upon myself but am frequently unable to lol.  Their teacher “Mrs. Banfield” is a shoutout to my own Year 5 teacher Mr. Banfield, who was one of my favourites growing up, I hope life treated him well and he’s as nice a person as my child-self’s view of him was lol.

#77 Friends

Annnnd a nice heartwarming end to this little arc, again with some good advice from Cammie that I came up with and yet am unable to follow lol.

The final gag is of course a throwback to the comic where Cammie got stuck on the slide all night.  I kept going back and forth on whether to spell it out more (with Cammie’s response potentially being “no... all those countless hours were contained within a single night actually”) but I felt the gag was funnier if it was simple and snappy, with the audience had to work for it a little bit.  Apologies if anyone out there didn’t make the connection!

If I ever get round to making a printed version, an idea I had for a back cover was the whole cast sitting in sillouhette on swings in reference to this pleasant little scene... seagull included, lol.

Here ya go! This is officially the first fic with Ruby and Bri, and I absolutely love them! I’ve written a fic similar to this before, but I still quite like this one and hope you do too!

Ruby paced the the sidewalk in front of the restaurant impatiently, and checked her phone again. She was getting upset.

Bri had promised to meet her at 7:15, and now it was already nearly half an hour after that. She couldn’t stifle the rage that pulse through her veins. If he didn’t want to go on a date, he should’ve just told her. Now it looked like she had been stood up. People kept glancing over, and it only succeeded in pissing her off further.

Eventually, an employee had to ask her to leave since her reservation timed out.

She took deep breaths as she stormed off to her car, and began driving. She had gotten dressed up for nothing. She cleared her schedule for nothing. Part of her knew that it wasn’t a big deal, but she couldn’t help it. She knew that it was a bad idea, but she took a familiar turn towards Bri’s apartment. Maybe her anger blinded her and she was being impulsive, but she knew one thing. She was going to give her boyfriend a piece of her mind.

Ruby dug out her key to Bri’s apartment, and unlocked the door. She’s be lying if she said she wasn’t a bit worried at this point. This wasn’t like Bri at all. He’s never, ever stood her up like this. Her heart raced as she pushed the door open, only feeling a little bad about coming unannounced.

Right away, she knew something was wrong. The pillows on his couch were hastily thrown with a blanket, like he had been in a hurry to get off.

“Bri..?” She called out.

Radio silence.

She peeked into the kitchen. “Bri, if this is a joke, it isn’t funny..” She managed, trying to hide the quiver in her voice.

She turned the corner into the hallway and froze at the sight before her eyes.

Her boyfriend was sprawled across the floor, half of him in the bathroom, the other half draped on the hallway floor. There was mostly dried liquid all down his shirt, pants, and the tile below him, and Ruby didn’t even want to begin to identify it.

“Bri.. hey..” She said, her voice wavering. She crouched next to him, and carefully turned his body around to get a look at his face. Saliva smeared across his cheek, and his complexion was ashen. His eyes were closed.

“Babe..” Ruby cried, putting a little volume behind her voice. “You need to wake up for me..”

Nothing.

“Bri!” She shouted, shaking him slightly. His head lolled forward, but he finally managed to make a weak sound.

“Mmh.. Roo..?” He choked out, slumping forward into her chest. His body felt tingly and weak all over. He wasn’t sure he could hold himself up anymore.

Ruby released a breath of relief, and cupped her boyfriend’s cheek. God, he was burning. She couldn’t help but tear up. She had been so angry earlier, and for what? She had much bigger things to worry about.

“Your belly isn’t feeling too good..?” She asked, despite being very aware of the answer.

He hummed in agreement, and sank further info her. She was so warm and gentle. He never wanted to leave. He felt as if he could fall asleep again, then and there.

“Hey.. don’t conk out just yet.. we’re gonna get in the shower, okay? Then we’ll get you right into bed..” She murmured, brushing a pale blonde strand of hair away from his cheek.

Bri had no energy to argue. He nodded slowly, and before he knew it, he was being hauled to his feet. His sick tummy didn’t appreciate the sudden change of position because before he knew it, he was pitched forward with a heave.

Luckily Ruby caught him by the back of his shirt, and began softly rubbing his shoulders. “Oh you poor thing..”

A rush of bile spilled past his lips with another forceful heave, causing his whole body to lurch. He panted over the mess, but he felt empty.

Ruby gently brought him into the bathroom, and stripped him to his boxers while running the tap.

He shivered at the sudden exposure, and curled into himself. Ruby eventually got him, and herself into the shower, and sat him on the floor to make this easier.

The warm water felt heavenly on his feverishly chilled body, and he nearly passed out then and there. He leaned into Ruby’s hands when she began gently shampooing his hair, and rinsing it.

Before he knew it, the water was shut off, and he was being ushered into his bedroom with a towel around his waist.

Ruby finally managed to get Bri into some clean clothes, and also decided to steal some for herself as well. When she noticed Bri falling asleep sitting up, she was quick to gently get him to lay down, and tucked in with a blanket.

“I’m sorry about.. not texting you..” He murmured softly, grabbing her hand before she could turn and leave.

“Don’t you dare apologize. Don’t even try it.” She crawled over his legs and settled in bed beside him, running a small hand through his blonde locks.

He turned over to face her, and leaned into her gentle touch. “M’gonna make it up to you.. promise..”

She smiled. “Okay fine.. but right now, just.. focus on getting some sleep..”

He didn’t need to be told twice, and finally succumbed to the exhaustion pulling at him, nestling close to his girlfriend.

Ends of the Earth

Summary: Jensen reflects on his life and his family when he is away at a convention on his birthday.

Jensen loved Supernatural conventions. He loved the interactions with the fans during all the ops and panels. The Supernatural family is the main reason he and Jared keep going. But when a convention weekend falls on his birthday, he realized there is a part of his life that is missing. His wife and daughter. 

He and Y/N had decided that until Livvy was a little older, they wouldn’t bring her to the conventions. It was easy when she had been an infant, but as she became more mobile, she also became more demanding of Y/N’s and his time. 

As he sat in his nice, but too quiet, hotel room Saturday night before the SNS concert, Jensen scrolled through the pictures on his phone and reflected on the last few years of his life since he had met Y/N. It had been a whirlwind romance from the start and within a year, they were married and expecting their first child. Jensen had always been worried about becoming a father. He worried that he wouldn’t be able to fill the shoes of the man that had taught him so much. His own father was remarkable and had always been there for him when Jensen had needed him. Jensen’s concerns centered around him not having enough time for Y/N, let alone a child. 

From the minute he laid eyes on Olivia, even all wrinkly and screaming her lungs out, he knew there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for her, or any siblings that came along after her. That was the day he made a promise. He would never be away from them for more time than was necessary. 

“Y/N, I have something I want to say to you and I need you to just listen, okay?” Jensen said to his wife the first night they were home after Livvy’s birth. They laid on their bed, Y/N on her side, breastfeeding their newborn daughter, Jensen also on his side, facing them. “I am probably going to sound like a dick, but I don’t care. I don’t want you to go back to work when it’s time. Even after only forty-eight hours in this world, she has turned mine upside down, in a good way. 

“I need my family with me. We can keep this house for breaks, but I want you both in Vancouver with me, full-time. I called a realtor already and have her looking for a bigger place with a yard. I just don’t want to be away from either of you. I don’t want to be that Dad she only sees on the weekends, and sometimes not for weeks at a time. I don’t want to do that to her, or to you. I want to be home at night to put her to bed. I want to wake up with her in the middle of the night. I want to take of her when she is sick. I can’t do that if I am not there.”

Y/N didn’t say anything for a few minutes and that made Jensen even more nervous than the speech he had prepared. When she finally did speak, he couldn’t believe he had been lucky enough to find this woman. 

“Jense, you and Livvy are all I want. I love my students and for years, they have been my family. I would follow you to the ends of the earth and you wouldn’t even have to ask me. You and Livvy are my family now,” she smiled and leaned over, mindful of the baby between them and kissed her husband sweetly. 

Jensen smiled when he saw her name and Olivia’s face light up the screen on his phone. “Hey, Baby, I was just thinking about you.” He smiled at the sight of his whole world there on that little screen. 

“Bweak a weg, Daddy!” Livvy shouted and Y/N laughed. 

“I love you, baby girl,” Jensen smiled at his daughter. Olivia was so full of life and the perfect mix of him and Y/N. “Are you being good for Mama?”

“I sure am!” she chirped. “Goodnight, Daddy. Mama says it is time for bed.”

“Goodnight, Livvy. I love you!” Jensen told her. 

“Get in bed, Bug and I will be right in,” Y/N told their daughter and Livvy blew Jensen a kiss before running out of the room. 

“When you get home tomorrow night, I have a surprise planned for you,” Y/N told him. 

“Oh yeah? Am I going to like it?” Jensen asked. 

“Most definitely. But first, you get through the next 24 hours and you will be home before you know it, birthday boy,” she replied, a soft smile on her pink lips. “It’ll be just you and me for an entire night and day. How is that for a hint?”

"It will have to be enough,” Jensen laughed. “Hey, Babe, I gotta run. Thank you for calling so I could say goodnight to our girl. I love you and I will see you tomorrow night, okay?”

“You bet your sweet ass, Ackles!” she promised.

Although the weekend was tight and time was short, he did have a great day celebrating with his friends and cast mates, not mention the fans, at the convention. He yawned as he unlocked the front door of their Vancouver home, seeing the lights already out. He left his carry on by the door and climbed the stairs. He peeked his head through Livvy’s door but she wasn’t there. He continued down the hall to the master bedroom and found his wife sprawled out in the middle of their king size bed, looking very welcoming. 

“Well happy birthday to me,” Jensen whispered as he walked through the double doors, kicking off his shoes and dropping clothes as he got closer to the bed. 

“Happy birthday, Baby,” Y/N cooed as she greeted her husband.

“So did you have a good birthday?” Y/N asked the next morning. They were still in bed, enjoying a cup of coffee. 

“The best ever, Baby,” he responded, kissing her lips sweetly. “Did you know Jared even got me a cake and I ate some of it onstage?” 

“I did see that! But your birthday isn’t over yet. Bri has Livvy until dinner and I have one more surprise for you,” Y/N told him, reaching under her pillow and handing Jensen a gift wrapped box. 

“What? Is this? Really?” Jensen’s inability to form complete sentences had his wife in giggles as she nodded. In the box was a new t-shirt that read ‘Dad2′.

"Happy birthday, Jense,” she smiled, kissing him deeply. 

“This really is the best birthday ever!”

ahhh oh my gosh yes!!!

homebodies is my personal project about the lives of three introverts who become roommates in their first year in college and follows them as they navigate the trials of leaving home for the first time, keeping up with classes, and growing up.

nikita usually spends her time watching anime and playing her guitar. she’s pretty comfortable with not being seen or heard, but when she starts her job at the campus cafe and meets the cafe’s band, nikita has to face her stage-fright head on when band manager james and keyboardist aster ask her to be their singer.

bri likes to spend her time outside and hiking, studying bugs and rocks and whatever else the great outdoors were there to offer her. when she signs up for her first womens studies course at university, she doesn’t expect to meet the very cool and very outspoken sariyah. and she especially didn’t expect her to ask her out on a date.

after a major injury playing soccer in her freshman year of high school, june resorted to her next love: baking. and obviously she’s content with not playing any more sports, because her team kind of sucked and teamwork with them… really sucked. but despite her long list of excuses not to ever step foot on a soccer field again, june finds herself out on the field anyway, about ten seconds before some kid named elliot accidentally kicks a soccer ball into the back of her head.
