Ric(hard) Fenton; Part 1
(Once again slightly inspired by @saltymarshmall0w 's prompt.)
Read on ao3.
Masterpost. Next.
“B, didn’t you promise us as you’d tell if there was a possibility of another secret child?” Tim asks as he stares at the black haired boy, who looks like he had been to hell and back to get here, with blue eyes — because of course, they are blue —  in front of the Manor’s door.
He can’t help but feel unnerved by the way the boy evaded their security measures and how he hasn’t said a single word since Tim opened the door even when he can see the boy’s hands tremble.
“Yes?” Bruce's voice floats from further in the Manor, his barely audible gaunt drawing near.
“Then who the hell is this?” he asks just as the man turns the corner. He freezes at the sight of the kid, literally blue screening as he takes him in.
“Actually he’s mine,” a too chipper voice announces and Tim nearly jumps out of skin as he turns to Dick.
The young man must see both Tim and Bruce doing the mental calculations in their heads because he interrupts before they can draw the wrong conclusions.
“If Bruce can go around adopting children, I can do the same.” Then he turns to the boy. “You can come in, Danny.”
Tim is eerily reminded of a wary, frightened cat as the boy — Danny moves inside. His steps are too silent for a mere civilian.
Bruce and Tim share a look and Tim knows that they are both asking themselves when Dick met the boy and why he never mentioned him with how familiar he acts around him as he easily tucks him into his side.
Although neither of them wants to accept it, Dick has changed since the one year where he disappeared without a trace. He’d told them that he was shot leading to him to lose his memories and that he only retained his memories a few days before he came back, but Tim always had a feeling the older man was not telling the whole truth, hiding it behind an easy-going smile. He didn’t speak a single word about what happened during that year, claiming he didn’t remember much of it ever since his memories returned.
Not only that, but it had become even rarer than before that any of them would meet Dick at the manor (even Jason was at the Manor more often) — and when he was present he was always studying them with an intense stare as if he was searching for something in their expressions.
“Dick,” Bruce starts but the man waves him off.
“Later,” he says. “I need to see if I have any fresh clothes for Danny.”
Dick pulls the boy away and they head up the stairs. Tim gives it a minute before he follows, nodding at Bruce, who does the same. He hears them stop in the hallway and he pauses in his steps.
“What’s going on?” Tim hears the man's question and he sneaks closer when he can’t hear the boy’s response. He subtly uses his phone’s camera to peek around the corner.
“What about Mom and Dad?” Dick asks in a hushed whisper and Tim knits his eyebrows together — confused about who his brother is talking about.
Danny winces with a pained expression.
“The GIW got them in custody for affiliating with and aiding an ectoplasmic entity,” he explains. “You are my only chance.”
“Jazz, Sam, Tucker?” Dick almost seems desperate and when the boy just shakes his head after each name, he runs a hand through his hair and curses.
“And you are sure we can’t go to them?”
Tim can’t help but ask himself who they are talking about that Dick’s voice is so full of disdain. Danny vehemently shakes his head, eyes squeezed together like he is remembering something painful and when he speaks his voice is shaky.
“I don’t know what to do, Ric,” he says, clutching the top of his shirt like his heart is hurting and Tim’s eyebrows climb to the top of his hairline at the unusual nickname. “I can’t- I can’t do this alone…”
“Fuck.” Dick takes a deep breath as he hugs Danny. “Okay. Yes, of course I’m coming with you, baby ghost. Just let me grab my things and then we’ll go on our way.”
“You will not go anywhere.”
Bruce steps in Dick’s path before Tim can stop him and he narrows his eyes at the pair. Danny flinches away from the man and Dick steps protectively in front of the boy.
Tim knows Bruce and Dick had their rough patches in the past but never like this. Never had Dick looked at Bruce like he was a threat.
“I’m not in the mood, B,” Dick warns sharply.
“And I’m not about to let you go off with someone that I haven’t vetted.”
Dick lets out a bitter huff of a laugh.
“Of course that’s the only thing you would focus on.” His voice is cold. “You’ll bulldoze your way through, and prod and condemn, not caring if you hurt someone innocent in the process as long as you can justify your actions. I don’t even know why I’m surprised at this point. It’s what happened to Jason after all.”
Bruce reels back like he’s been punched.
“Now if that is all, I have to go save the people who actually treat me like family.”
This time nobody stops Dick as he leaves the house, Danny in tow.
“Master Bruce, Master Tim,” Alfred’s voice tears Tim out of his trance and startles Bruce who froze in his spot. “Where is Master Dick?”
Dick trembles with barely suppressed fury as he leads Danny to his car.
He wanted to believe that Bruce was better — that he wouldn’t have led the Justice League on a hunt after a child, but the longer he is back in Gotham as Richard Grayson — the longer he is around who were supposed to be his “actual” family, the more he grows unsure about that fact. There is no easy trust between them — not the steadfast determination that no matter what happens, they’ll take his side. Not like the Fentons have. (It’s been barely 2 months and he misses being Ric Fenton — misses being Jack and Maddie’s son and Jazz and Danny’s older brother.)
Bruce has contingency plans about them for fuck’s sake. And while he understands that there might be situations where they would be on other sides — the time where he and the Teen Titans had to fight their mind controlled mentors comes to mind — it’s a scary thought. For the first time since ages — since Bruce had taken Robin away from him — he feels like he is on his own.
Back then he had turned to Clark — to Superman. He was the one who gave him the name Nightwing but Dick is plagued by the nightmares he witnessed Danny having. He doesn’t think he can look at his uncle ever the same again.
At the same time, he doesn’t know if Danny and him can do this alone. He glances at the boy as he drives out the gates to the manor — he looks incredibly drained. He’s even paler than usual and there’s a sheen of sweat over his whole body as he leans back in his seat, breaths shallow.
As he drives through the streets of the Bowery a sudden thought comes to his mind. He tears the steering wheel around, tearing Danny out of his doze. He blinks at Dick, eyebrows knitted together when he sees that they are still in Gotham.
“Where are we going?” he asks and Dick gives him a smile that is all teeth.
“Just a little pit stop.”
Jason and Dick don’t talk much — or to be more precise they don’t talk about the important stuff. Not about the — ‘I broke down when I heard about your death and I blame myself for not being there’ or ‘I was sure you hated me and you were glad I was gone’. They barge into each other's apartments, spar or get drunk together and cling to each other when they are sure the other isn’t awake to witness it. It’s not quite healthy — but it’s something better than when Jason was still Robin.
So when the door to one of his safe houses gets slammed open, Jason isn’t concerned. He knows Dick had been off the past few weeks and had been expecting his visit for quite a while now.
The look in Dick’s eyes is different this time around though. It’s not quite the mix of depression coupled with anger he normally expects — it’s something stronger — righteous fury.
“I need your help,” Dick demands before Jason can question what’s going on.
Jason knits his eyebrows together.
“What about Bruce?”
There’s a dark look in the man’s eyes for a moment before it passes and that’s the moment Jason realizes that this something more serious than the usual spats he normally has with B.
“You are the only one I can trust with this.”
He spins around on his heels and is out of the safe house before Jason can blink. Getting a bit impatient and angry about Dick not getting straight to the point and still expecting him to follow — Jason storms out. What he doesn’t expect is the passed out half-dead kid in the passenger seat. A tinge of green enters his vision as he glares at Dick.
“What the hell is going on?”
The story Dick tells as they speed on the highway leaves Jason reeling. If the man’s tone wasn’t carefully monotone as he spoke about Ghosts and an entire town being shifted to a different dimension, Jason would have already declared that Dick finally snapped. He wants to question why he lied to the rest about losing his memories about the year he went missing, but the desperate look he sends him and the way his hands shake on the steering wheel hold him back. It’s only the boy’s quiet snores that have Jason’s volume not climbing above a hiss.
“Are you sure this all happened? That this is real?”
“I was there, Jay,” Dick’s tone leaves no arguments. “I almost watched Danny die, again — fighting Pariah Dark. I would have never forgiven myself if another of my brothers…” He gulps and shakes his head. “I was there this time. I should have made a difference and once again I was helpless”. He slams a fist against the radio, cursing when it turns on, blaring loud music.
He quickly turns the volume down and both of them wait with bated breath as Danny stirs in his seat, before he goes limp again. Dick lets out a deep sigh.
“How do you think I felt once I realized the situation?” Dick questions. “I was in the middle of nowhere with no recollection of who I was. If the Fentons hadn’t found me-” He shakes his head. “Next I know I’m watching a kid fight fucking Ghosts twice his side and getting thrown around like a ragdoll like it’s a normal Tuesday. That shouldn’t happen Jay, it just shouldn’t.”
Jason stays silent.
“And worst of all, I still knew how to fight,” Dick barrels on. “But no matter how much I tried to help Danny and teach him, it was useless because it wasn’t humans or even metas he was up against. How could my moves counter beings that can fly and go intangible and invisible at will?”
Jason still can’t fathom why Dick hid this from them all — but he knows enough to understand why he needs his help.
“So what’s the plan?”
Dick shoots him a relieved smile.
“We still have 12 hours of driving ahead of us,” Dick glances at Danny. “I’m reckoning he’s gonna be out cold for at least half of it if not more. I need you to switch with me after half of the drive so I can get a power nap in, then I’ll take over again.”
“Not trusting me with the car?” Jason teases.
“Show me your drivers license and maybe I’ll reconsider.”
They start bickering, and for a moment Jason can convince himself that this is a normal road trip.
Jason’s at the wheel when the boy wakes up. Dick is out cold and despite the man’s protests Jason can drive normally if he wants to. There’s no reason the man has to over exhaust himself.
They had tossed their phones once they crossed the border to Illinois and Dick had withdrawn a couple of thousand bucks. Jason had questioned why they hadn’t done sooner if they wanted to keep Bruce off their trail, but the man told him he’s not the one he is worried about. Considering what Dick told him about the elusive GIW, Jason can harbor a guess on who he is talking about. It’s after that, that Jason wrangled him into another nap — Dick was in no condition to drive any further.
“Ric?” Danny questions sleepily as he sits up and Jason keeps an eye on him out of the corner of his eyes.
“He’s asleep,” Jason answers and it’s only because he’s used to Damian that he blocks the instinctual kick as the boy realizes he’s not alone.
“I can see that Dick kept you sharp” Jason huffs out a laugh. “I’m Jason, in case he didn’t mention me.”
Danny blinks at him and shifts so he is sitting cross legged. He knits his eyebrows together, clearly thinking.
“You were the pit stop?” he questions.
“Apparently.” Jason shrugs. “Great work, by the way. It’s been a while since I’ve seen Dick this pissed.”
The boy frowns, gnawing at his lips as he stares out the window.
“You’ve died too, haven't you?”
Jason suppresses his initial reaction to snap at the boy. Instead he grits his teeth as he stares straight ahead, the road blurring together.
“And?”
“Ric shouldn’t have let you come.”
He grips the steering wheel until his knuckles are deadly white, green hazing his vision.
“They’ll cut you open too.”
It takes the wind out of his anger and he lets out a curse. The brakes screech as he stops at the side of the road, nearly catapulting them forward with the force of it. Jason finally turns to look at Danny properly. The boy peels down his t-shirt to reveal a gnarly, ugly red Y-shaped scar as he gulps.
“Ric doesn’t know,” he says as he releases the hem of his shirt, covering the scar once more. “I haven’t told him.”
“Then why me?” Jason’s voice rises without his consent.
“Because you’ll get it,” the boy murmurs. “How it feels to die.”
The boy leans back, turning away from Jason to look at the corn field.
“How it haunts you.”
Jason wants to puke and he lets his forehead fall onto the steering wheel.
“Fuck,” he says emotionally and the boy laughs — broken and hysterical. Jason doesn’t comment on the tears streaming down Danny’s face.
Jason starts up the car again, leading the car back on the road.
“Next time Dick asks for my help, I’ll send him to hell.”
Jason hides a smile when the boy snorts at that.
Dick comes to himself as they are about to cross the border into Amity Park. Jason and Danny are quietly talking and he wipes away a little bit of drool as he sits up. It’s dark outside and Danny directs Jason as they enter the city. He leans forward as he enters the conversation.
“You’ll think the GIW’s detectors will sense us?”
Danny glances at Jason, before he turns his attention to Dick.
“We should be fine for a few hours at least as long as I don’t have to turn ghost,” he says. “Half of the town is liminal at this point so you and Jason shouldn’t raise any alarms either. They had too many false alarms in the months since you left.”
Jason looks at Dick strangely once they park where they can hide for the night.
“Since when did you have contact with Lazarus Pits?”
“Never,” Dick retorts. “But living above a portal to the Infinite Realms for a year will do the trick.”
Jason's face scrunches up.
“Who the hell builds a portal in their own basement?”
Both Dick and Danny snort.
“Gotta love Mom and Dad,” the boy says as Dick nods in agreement. “Only they are insane enough.”
Dick makes a face.
“I could do without reanimated meatloaf for the rest of my life though.”
“Don’t remind me,” Danny shudders.
Jason stares at them in bafflement.
“You do know how crazy that sounds?”
“Crazier than Ghosts?” Danny questions with a smirk and Jason pinches the bridge of his nose, shaking his head
“To give it to Mom and Dad they did stop storing samples in the fridge after we lectured them about it,” Dick adds. At Jason's aghast face he just shrugs. “They are passionate about their work.”
“Insane, absolutely insane,” the man mutters and Dick suppresses a smile.
It had taken him a bit to get used to the Fenton's and their flavor of insanity and chaos. At first he had been worried about them being neglectful at best, but it turns out that they just needed someone to remind them when they got into “hyperfixation” mode. He and Jazz had to stage an intervention and both Maddie and Jack were embarrassed once they realized they took it too far. Dick doesn’t know who is worse — them or Tim when he’s awake for more than three days.
He was very relieved when his initial hunch didn’t turn out to be true after Danny revealed himself as Phantom to his parents. They did a whole 180 on their research, focusing on learning about the intricacies of the Infinite Realms, their culture and even politics instead — resigning from their high positions in the GIW. That’s when the trouble really started.
Dick hadn’t lied about getting amnesia after he was shot and it was also true that his memories had only returned — thanks to Frostbite — two months ago. But the only reason he went back to Gotham had been to get Danny help (the longer they waited the worse the situation with the GIW became) — to find out if the Justice League could be trusted. Once he heard what happened with Freakshow and the Reality Gauntlet (and had the memories to properly realize what that meant) he had been horrified. He had given himself a deadline to — if need be, confront the Justice League by the time Danny’s birthday came around and find out the truth. (He had desperately hoped that this was all a misunderstanding, but Bruce’s words still taste bitter on his tongue.)
Dick knows bringing Jason along was a risk — considering Danny’s theory that the Lazarus Pit were corrupted ectoplasm, but they need the manpower to get through the GIW’s defenses. Even if he’s scared shitless about what they’ll do to Jason when they find out just how liminal he is. He knows this is a death mission. But it doesn’t have to be for Jason.
“We need to establish some ground rules,” Dick says reluctantly and Jason narrows his eyes at the wording.
“If we get captured, I want you to save yourself, Jason.” Jason scoffs and Dick raises a hand, silencing his retort before it can come. “I’m the sole reason you got involved in the first place. Me and Danny may be willing to die for them, but I’m not letting you sacrifice yourself for something that isn’t even your problem to deal with.”
“If you think I’m gonna agree to those, you are more than stupid than I thought Dick,” Jason’s voice is scathing. “It started being my problem when you came to me for help and we drove for 12 straight hours to get there. If you say those people are your family — then they are mine as well.”
His lips perk into a smirk.
“Besides, I want to meet the people that might be even more batshit insane than B and got you to call them Mom and Dad.”
Dick flushes slightly — the Fenton’s had always insisted on him calling them Mom and Dad and he doesn’t know when the titles became genuine. Even with his memories restored, Ric Fenton feels more alive  — more loved — than Richard Grayson ever did.
Danny just shrugs as he leans back, arms crossed behind his neck and feet rested on top of the glove box.
“I guess I have not only two sisters but two older brothers now,” he adds cheekily.
“Brat.”
Jason playfully shoves Danny and Dick gapes at the fond tone in his voice.
“How?” he stammers — they should barely know each other. “When?”
Jason tucks Danny into his side, angle a bit awkward, but grinning as he ruffles his hair.
“You missed a lot, sleeping beauty,” Jason jests and Dick groans.
“I was only asleep for 1 hour!” he bemoans.
“Two,” Danny corrects and Dick glares at him, raising a finger.
“Don’t you two dare gang up on me!”
“This is sweet revenge for when you and Jazz teamed up against me,” Danny grins.
“We were literally trying to help you!” Dick complains, shoving Danny’s face away as the boy cackles, Jason watching on with amusement.
Dick might have to leave Ric Fenton behind for good now that his two worlds have collided, but maybe he can still be Richard “Dick” Grayson-Fenton instead.

Wait, we keep talking about Bruce's reaction to supernatural reader, but what about Alfred's reaction to supernatural reader looking just like Martha and her mother. Who has a pair of twins now with a loving family that she chose herself.
(And to rub salt in the wound, supernatural reader could be a necklace of pearls when she's teleported to the manor with her family)
I see your pearl necklace, and raise you Martha's ACTUAL pearl earrings (and her subconsciously styling her hair the way Martha did)
Alfred isn't good.
BTW- It's crazy how this family is built on miscommunication. Like- I don't think Alfred meant anything bad by putting "good soldier" on Jason's plaque, he's a military man, he respects soldiers and sees it as an honor to be called that, to be remembered by your actions, but he doesn't know how to acknowledge the fact that a child in his care did die either, Bruce and Alfred are so similar on that front.
Like- Alfred saw it as honorable, and all Jason saw was proof that Bruce didn't love him, only what he could do, what he could give. To Jason, all that meant was that Bruce loved Robin, not Jay-lad. Soldiers are replaceable, one dies, the next takes his place, children aren't.
He, despite still kicking, is in fact OLD.
He's watching from a distance, and he needs to lean against the wall as he feels his heart stopping, just for a second. It doesn't even register for a moment that you aren't Martha- because that's all he sees, especially with the little boy clinging to your leg and glaring at everyone, much like Bruce used to.
Alfred didn't even hear the conversation anymore, too focused on how your eyebrows furrowed the same way Martha's did, the same way Bruce's do. On the twitch of your nose, on the glimmer of Martha's pearl earrings fitting you so well. On the way your hands toyed with your kid's hair, much like Martha used to do with Bruce to soothe herself.
And that man you're with- He looks nothing like Thomas, he's not as tall, not as massive in muscles, the eyes are a different color, and his hair is too light.
But it's Thomas he sees in the way he stands tall at your side, in the way his hand stays on your back, silent because he knows you can stand your ground but ready to bite at the slightest mistake from Bruce.
He found it uncanny how much it was like the dead Waynes were reborn in your family, how much the little boy looked like Bruce, how much the little girl looked like Dean, how much those two stood like Thomas, guards at ready by the most precious thing in their life.
He did something he never thought he'd do while on the clock. He took a seat. Hiding in the shadows of a corner, on the chair stuffed in the nook of it.
And he stared.
He stared at what they lost. He thinks of how you would have missed out on this, on your children and lover -he refuses to acknowledge the matching silver rings- if they were different to you, if they loved you like you deserved.
Would you have fallen in love with a friend you made? A friend of the boys? Someone you met at a gala?
But that's not what he cared for, not when your little girl whined about wanting to go back to Grandpa Bobby- he also ignored how the little thing called Bruce the mean man.
Most of your other siblings have slipped at one point or another and called him gramps or pops or any variation of it- you never did. He can barely count the times he's interacted with you beyond absolute necessities, and after a time, he can't even remember talking to you. Bruce should have been grandpa to those little kids... Alfred should have been grandpa to you.
Have you ever called Bruce dad? Was this Bobby your parental figure or the father of the two men standing by you? He didn't know- he didn't know anything about you. None of the Waynes did... not the alive ones anyway.
He buries the guilt. He doesn't deserve to feel sorry after failing you, failing his promise to keep Bruce and his kids safe. Instead, he lets shame take him. He felt responsible for your mistreatment, he could have done more, but above all, he doesn't think he deserves forgiveness.
Which is... something new. He didn't feel sorry when he "nudged" Bruce or the other kids towards the path he wanted them to take, didn't even bat an eyelash when he added "A good soldier" to Jason's plague only for it to come and bite Bruce in the ass- he didn't feel sorry for his mistakes, for being even more emotionaly constipated than Bruce ever was.
But when it came to you, seeing you so happy with these nobodies, all he felt was shame. Shame and anger. The more he looked at those men, the angrier he got on the inside, his exterior still a blank page, no scribbles or crinkles to show what he actually felt.
Or was it jealousy?
It didn't matter to the old man anymore, he just wanted the little baby girl who would drool on his suit back. He wanted a second chance at it. He'd be better this time around, he swears.

im foaming at the mouth for your tim thoughts
well firstly: he is my lovely little darling baby whom i love. please jot that down. that one is real important to me. let me see what else i can come up with. these come to me in dreams and also... other... private moments. these are explicit btw.
full head of hair. he's not really very hairy in the rest of his body (really struggles growing a decent beard lol) but he has a lot of hair to grab onto. i really like when he's got his long haired emo look. pin straight. i think he should go to that one japanese salon, they'd have fun with him.
i also think he's very pretty in an understated way. delicate. his particular brand of looks is not flashy, like dick is, or demanding, like jason's, and he's not even the old school hollywood beauty that bruce is. i'd put him in the ballpark of duke, but whereas duke is suave, vigorous, tim's almost waifish. i think it's easy to overlook him. and i like when he looks like cass but. i am gay.
but there are details about him, and those are the ones that really catch your eye. he is deceptively strong. you don't expect it from him, but you can feel it when you touch his arm, when he moves your chair with a quiet excuse me and it's no effort whatsoever. because he's pretty pale, his veins are really easy to spot. you tell him he's a lab tech's dream and he laughs and says, or a vampire, right? and you imagine yourself biting down on the thin skin of his wrist and feel a little faint.
and his eyes! that's the real weapon to me. i don't think he can really hide those. there's just something so... sharp about them. he can play dumb with ease, but there's this keen awareness swimming behind them. anyone who's any bit discerning can see the overwhelming force of his sheer presence in them. this is different from jason, who i also think has a very heavy gaze. tim's gaze is not heavy, but it is.. sharp. like a needle.
also unexpectedly manly at times. and pushy. i don't think you expect him to be pushy, because he behaves so nicely and is generally quite polite (and you do think well, isn't this a little bit of a farce and feel bad because the boy is trying to impress you, be a little kinder). and he really is so very nice until the last possible moment, when he's got you between his sharp, sharp teeth. foxy.
(he is so. relentless. he really does fuck you with wild abandon. i don't know how to explain it exactly. he doesn't slip into mindlessness, there is no fog, he is just so so present all the time throughout it. it may look like he's lost control of himself from the outside but he always knows exactly what he's doing and it is all deliberate and in service of your joint pleasure. the only way i can think to explain this is you know how he zeroes in on a specific goal or mission and everything falls apart until he gets it? like proving bruce is alive. but this time he wants you to unravel underneath him. you will crawl away from him and he'll pull you back asking where you're going because he's not finished with you. good luck with that)
tim is very good at maneuvering, rather than lying outright. dick will deceive with the fervor of a corralled animal, and push come to shove, tim will do so as well but he doesn't prefer that. every bat can come up with a plan and put it in effect but i get the feeling that tim has a real talent for the chess board of it all, and doing do from a distance. he's the person i find the easiest to imagine as a yandere, because he's so prime for the calculation. (i don't exactly know how to explain the difference here with dick, but they could do more or less the same thing, and the mental processes would still be different.)
and he is also so so lonely. he seems like such a lonely child to me. i think his parents were neglectful in a sense, but not unkind, and i think he loved them very much, but he grew up with that little wall that separated him from the rest of the world. so he really looks for that love everywhere. in the small doses he can have it. i don't think even when he does have it, he ever quite believes it. and he really wants it to hold and i think most of the things he does are sort of in service to that desire or in conflict with it. ultimately he will choose what he thinks is optimal, but it does weigh on him.
also, tim sort of... exists to fill a place. in his mind. he is very dutiful to me, and because he is so lonely, i think he feels beholden to fill the place the relationships he has dictate he should. but these sorts of roles come with a type of hierarchy (a flexible one, but still) where his duty is more so defined by need that value (or perhaps value comes from need, which is very noble but not always kind). so say he's playing robin, boyfriend, son: robin will trump all others so long as nobody else is there to share that weight with. boyfriend always falls by the wayside because, well, they can break up with him. and he does feel bad when you tell him you need him there, but. a broken heart is not a life saved. with his dad the thing is a little more complicated, because you only have the one dad (well...) and you can always get a new partner. i think when it comes to you, when he thinks of you as the love of his life, this really is the place that will bring more tension. the biggest shift in priorities. good luck x2!
god. a contract marriage must be hell on earth.
i like his stalkerish tendencies. i'd like to play them up, even. i think they're cute! they betray a need to know more and more as a way of like... consumption. like every morsel of information is a little bit of you encased in him. for a long time he felt like knowing was the only thing he could do, the only thing he had permission for, and i feel he can quite quickly delude himself into think if he can just "stumble upon" these odds and ends of your life, then it's fine. you're both just living within each other's orbit* :) (*there are cameras in your home)
he likes sending you suggestive pictures, more so than outright nudes, just to rile you up (he has read ecchi manga :/). he really loves the ones where he puts stuff in his mouth. think a 20 second clip of him sucking one of those lollipops or a picture of a cherry on his tongue. he likes a really obscene one where his mouth is held open by two fingers pushing against his tongue, gleaming with spit, and you zoom in and is that cum and he's looking at you like these should be your fingers in my mouth. why aren't you here?
i always say he's into psychological warfare. he very rarely gives it to you straightforwardly, because he wants you to use your imagination to fill in the blanks, to spend your time thinking about him, putting together the clues to what he's doing and why he wishes you were there.
to that same end, he's an assiduous user of the voice note. you'll be working, middle of the day, and you get a text with a voice note you gotta scramble off to the bathroom to listen to. it's tim whimpering and moaning, calling for your presence, so needy, voice ragged, out of breath, telling you how all he can think about is your maddening heat enveloping him and how close he is to coming, but you're not there to see it. he never sends any visuals with these, because he wants to drive you mad trying to figure out how he's getting off. is he fisting his cock? is he fingering himself? is he humping against a pillow, imagining it's your thighs? endless possibilities.
phone sex haver. loves to hear you masturbate. HE will call you during a stakeout. kon's always begging to get a little listen in.
he is also. so wicked. i think i've said before but there's little to no way to win over him. it is so frustrating. he could be coming apart underneath you in a way you've never seen and somehow, somehow, the one who's losing it is you. wicked man.

I am really angry suddenly bc I just got an idea for a longfic that would mean disaster for me bc I literally don't have time for this, but I have a rule that if an idea sticks with me for more than a week I have to write it.
Okay, so, hear me out, mandalorian Bruce Wayne. I recently rewatched Rebels, and from there, it was a downwards spiral of: Oh, the mandalori also has found family! Oh, there is a complex, actually decently detailed culture there! OH, THAT'S A EHOLE ASS LANGUAGE.
So here I am.
Anyways what the AU is about.
Martha and Thomas Wayne are political figures during the Republic, and they hire a mandalori to protect them bc Martha is pregnant.
Que Alfred. I think he would have green armor at first (mandalorian armor colours actually have meaning how fucking cool is that), and I imagine that Alfred would be one of em "never misses" type of character.
Anyways, the waynes and Alfred fall in love, and Alfred takes off his helmet for them and leaves the religion. It's super romantic and involves a lot of kissing and tears. By that point, bruce is like, two.
When Bruce is eight, his parents are killed by a droid. Bc this is still pre-clone wars, it was probably a modyfied protocol droid. (I'd imagine Palpatine ordered it bc the waynes got a bit too close to him, since he isn't that established yet.) Alfred guns down the droid, and he tries to do it sooner, but Martha pushes Bruce into his arms, which distracts him. Que angst.
When bounty hunters come after Bruce, Alfred has no choice but to vacate the family manor and flee in a YT-1300 that Martha tinkered with occasionally.
After Bruce's request, Alfred starts teaching him the way of mandalore, and Bruce decides he wants to follow it. Alfred agrees and starts training him.
When Bruce was around 15, they met Leslie, an old, self exiled mandalorian armourer who got disillusioned with the way long ago. She made Bruce his first armour, which was black. It was made out of a beskar alloy, but Leslie told him if he ever finds more beskar, she can make him better stuff. She also reforges Alfred's armour. It's grey now.
When Bruce is eighteen, the clone wars begin, and the two retreat to Lothal, to a smaller settlement away from the capitol.
There in a bar, Bruce meets Talia. Their romance is super flamable, and Talia convinces him to come along to her dads space ninja cult where Bruce spends three years training.
And then order 66 happens, and Bruce leaves the cult and asks Talia to come with him, but she refuses, so Bruce leaves alone, and goes back to Alfred.
The two are forced to move on as Lothal's economy plummetts bc of bad harvests and a diesase among the livestock.
Bruce is 22 when they land on a moon populated by greenery to refuel and circle the oxygen, when he finds a feral ten year old boy.
Cue creed, adopt all children on sight. This one part inspired this whole thing btw.
So little Richard Grayson is brought into the fold. The kid opens up about how he was a padawan and shows off his lightsaber. I think it would be blue. He's also super flippy bc his master (his bio dad but shhh) taught him a lot of acrobatics.
One of the cargo bays on the YT-1300 is converted into a bedroom, but Dick gets frequent nightmahres about his master getting gunned down in front of him when order 66 happened, so he sleeps with Bruce.
Dick believes that the jedi way is stupid. He likes attachments and his emotions, so he demands an armour of his own. Bruce finds some beskar and takes Dick to Leslie. His first arour is Red, Yellow, and Green. (All of these colours have meaning, and they fit so beautifully. Can you believe it???)
Anyways, they kill some kind of bat alien, and that's their clan insignia. Idk.
When dick is around 18, they meet a HRD (Human Replica Droid) in a really bad shape. He tried to steal something off the ship idk, and initially bot Duck and Bruce are a bit distrustful but Jason looks way too pathetic so... Well, he's sentient enough.
Dick meanwhile grew out his old armour, and so they headed back to Leslie, who became Jason's secind fave person the first time she bonks Bruce on the top of the helmet the first time with a hammer.
Dick gets a nice blue armour, and since Beskar is getting rare to come across, they agree on modyfying Dick's old arnour to fit Jason.
It also turns out that Jason is strong in the force, which should be impossible, but somehow it isn't. Dick decides to teach him.
Two more years pass and something happens that causes Jay to shut down and nobody can figure out why since project HRD was discontinued.
Meanwhile somewhere else one child genius Timothy Drake escapes his parents palace, because they are devoted to the empire and he is strong in the force, with two inquisitors on his tail.
Tim gets shot down, and sends out a distress signal which the bat- Lovingly named by Dick- responds and let's Tim dock.
Obviously nobody on the ship is happy about the imperial brat, and treat him coldly while still mourning Jason when Tim finds him in the closet which was transformed into his charging station. Since he's alone on the ship he decides to take a look, finds the problem, but can't even start to fix it before Dick throws him backwards with the force, causing Tim to lash out in the Force and mentally attack Dick on accident.
Luckily nothing permanent happens.
Anyways Dick can feel that Tim feels really guilty and scared so he decides to let it go and ask Tim what he was doing near Jason.
Tim explains that he can fix the boy and after persuading Batdad and getting some parts Tim needs Jason is good as new. Since Tim knows a lot about HRDs Jason asks for some body modifications, and they all visit Leslie.
Jason gets an orange armour, and Tim gets the old one.
There is so much more to this au, and the fic will take a long time, but patience is a virtue or whatnot.

Fights btw tim and y/n
warning- a little yandere
bro is the perfect teenage love type of boyfriend but ofc we all have our issues.
he is a stalker, like full blown cameras, drones , stalking your socials and prolly even has your browser history. he tends to get obsessive and struggles to understand boundaries. he means well but if you rlly love your privacy you may need to give him a strict talking to. but this does mean he gets you the perfect gifts( ur entire shopping cart)
he overanalyzes a lot. that + the fact he doesn't sleep+ lives on caffeine and aderaline+ mommy daddy issues+ you being the best thing that ever happened to him...yea he overthinks everything. " why did she leave my hand, wait is it sweaty? her brow also twitched, she is texting someone one, is it a he? the corners of lips turned up at a degree of 10 degrees..SHE LIKES SOME OTHER GUY" yes he his detective skills sort of fail in this case.
he has a bit of tunnel vision, so he sometimes misses the big picture. he is also a little impulsive . while this isn't always a problem , he does end u insulting your friends without first hearing the whole story, or take some action without considering all factors. you always have to calm you hyper asf bf and tell him to take a second to breathe before jumping right into action.
he worries about u a lot, if you have a bad habit he is trying every trick in the book to get you to leave it and may become helicopter parent like even if u don't wanna leave that habit. this prolyl did cause a major fight at some point
he struggles to give you the time you deserve( same a dick and bruce tbf) and he puts so much pressure on himself ( as a robin and as ur bf) that he just cracks really often . and u have to remind him that its okay if he isn't perfect, he is yours and you wont change that for the world

PLEASE elaborate on those ideas (preferable dc but if you want to also talk abt the 911 ones absolutely go for it!!!)
I'm going to be evil and list every single one of them (all of these are Jason Todd btw)
Vamp Jason. He a lil guy (like 12) and doesn't realize he was turned into a baby vamp until like four months later when all the blood in his body starts to die off and he has nothing to replace it with. Cue frantic worry from his newly adopted family.
Selkie au. Bruce keeps Jason's pelt after he dies, which does fucked up things to Jason when he comes back without it.
Shifter au. to survive the streets, Jason stays in his shifted form. Dick, being like 15 or smth, sees a lil puppy and goes "aw, baby <3" and accidentally kidnaps a child. It's cool though, he's fine with it.
Emergency foster placement. Since Bruce is regestered as a foster parent, in theory he could foster an emergency placement. Well, this nine year old kid just lost his mom, and his dad's in jail. Free baby.
Banshee Jason. During UtRH, Bludhaven gets nuked or whatever. Jason, being a banshee, can feel the mass amount of death happening fairly close by and it's not a good time for anyone.
Kid Jason saves Batman from drowning after a massive moral dilemma.
Lab rat Jason. Ra's likes human experimentation, and now he has free test subject thanks to weird resurrection.
Bruce hires Slade to kill the Joker.
Amnesia Jason number who fucking knows. Fresh out of the pit Jason has literally no memories and Talia just goes "ok fine. new son. whatever". But Jason being dramatic and a teenager eventually figures out he's connected to Bruce somehow and decides to hunt him down with a sword instead of like. calling the guy.
Jason and Cass twins!!!!! Fresh from abandoning her dad, Cass finds a boy who looks eerily familiar and decides to stick with him. They're inseparable now.
Jason has Laz Pit powers. This one's my white whale. I wanna write it so bad but the motivation just isn't there. Basically Ra's commissions/hires a bunch of pregnant women to inject Lazarus juice into themselves to see if it will affect their growing fetus. His goal is to make a self healing fetus for ~mysterious reasons~. Only baby to survive to full term is Jason. Sheila drops him off at the league, gets paid, and leaves. Bruce witnesses all that while training there and is like "hey wtf". So with Talia's help, they manage to sneak both himself and the baby out with no one noticing. Eventually Bruce notices that Jason can heal from any injury in a matter of moments, thanks to the fucked up science done to him in utero. Blah blah blah, years pass, he adopts Dick, and so on. Then Talia shows up one day with a warning that her father is suspicious and then the real plot begins >:3.
Shoved through a portal. Dick and Jason get shoved through a portal by Bruce as their dimension is collapsing and they end up somewhere completely foreign and on their own. Angst. Sadness. Grief. Maybe they're in the MCU now, idk.
The Lazarus Pit regrew Jason's wisdom teeth and now he needs to get them extracted again.
Catalina Flores is Jason's mom via time travel. Yes, Dick is his dad.
Really dark shit I wont put in this cuz massive dead dove. But let's just say Sionis does smth REALLY fucked up during UtRH and that's how Bruce finds out about Jason.
Jason gets migraines. He doesn't know they're migraines cuz he never had them before dying so he thinks a wizard cursed him.
Jason gets drunk, gets arrested, gets ID'd as the dead Jason Todd, and Bruce has to pick him up from the drunk tank. Jason barfs on Bruce's shoes.

Daily reminder that you're an awesome artist and person in general!!☀️☀️
BTW!! Do you have any headcanons for Damian and Bruce ?? The emotionally unavailable father and son </33
OMG THANK YOU, YOU'RE AN AWESOME ARTIST TOO, I've seen your doodles and drawings and they're AMAZING!!!! And I really like how your vlog is pink, like it's aesthetically pleasant to just see ur vlog because IT'S SO CUTE
About Damian and Bruce... I like to think Bruce is the type of parent that shows his love indirectly most of the time. Like Damian will be talking to Tim or Duke and he'll be eating, idk, a chocolate bar. He'll say something like: huh, not bad. It's nice.
Next day there's like, 2 packages of those bars and Wayne Enterprises owns a fabric of those chocolates.
Or Damian will be like: Oh, I like this show.
Bruce will watch the show just so he can talk with Damian about it. Unfortunately he sucks at small talk when he really tries and at the end the situation is like:
"...Your favorite character dies at the end. Must have been hard to watch."
"...I haven't watched that part yet..."
"..."
"...Oh."
Damian will show his love with drawings. He'll be like; hey, did this, take it, then leave quietly. He won't admit the fact that he spent 300+ hours in a drawing because he wanted to show it to his father, and he wanted it to be perfect. He also lets Bruce see his sketches and just his sketchbook in general. An artist's sketchbook is sacred and personal!!! But, he supposes he can make an exception.
Sometimes Damian will just sit next to Bruce when he's reading, or in his office, or when he's sleeping...Then he'll pretend it never happened or say that Bruce initiated the cuddles. Beast world already confirmed what we all knew, Damian's a cat! And an Orange one!
During patrol, sometimes Bruce will give the lollipops he brings with him to Damian. Damian accepts them very offended. He isn't a kid! He doesn't like being patroniz-! Oh, wait, is this grape flavored? Oh, it's actually really nice.
Annnnnd that's all. It's already a little too long, but this is how I see their interactions, just two people really bad at expressing feelings trying to express their feelings. Yeah 🗣️✋🔥‼️

disclaimer, i cannot write movies, this is just how i want the batman 2 to go
ok
we get a batman fight, dark and gritty but not as much as the batman 1, which then bleeds into some bruce wayne philanthropist stuff, not massively brucie wayne but it's creeping in there and we see that bruce is trying to help rebuild gotham but better ( we see this throughout the movie btw, just little snippets)
and then we see it from a distance, no people, but whisperings about something
anyway, in this endeavour to make gotham better haly's circus comes to gotham and we get shots of bruce in the audience and then the graysons die and we get more shots of the audience including one lingering on a little toddler with black floppy hair and blue eyes
batman appears and comforts dick and that's the last of that
then we cut to bruce trying to do some stuff at WE and he goes out onto a balcony or a rooftop to take a phone call or something (maybe as batman from jim gordon) and then he gets attacked by the assassin, and we don't really see the assassin in full, just a black mass with some gold flashes, and idk how but the assassin gets interrupted and jumps off the roof and bruce is still alive
so he's trying to figure out who or what that was and is looking at it on the bat computer (maybe he got some of it's clothing or something he can track) and gets a ping so goes to investigate and on the way he bumps into this little 9 year old who's on the rooftop of some building (hmmmm i wonder who it is)
it's dick, he's trying to track down the man who killed his parents (you knew this) and bruce is like "nO don't do that it's dangerous" and dick is like "but someone needs to"
anyway bruce takes dick back to the orphanage or wherever he is and has lost the trail for the assassin
this happens multiple times (montage time bois) and we see bruce finding dick on patrol, on rooftops and in dangerous situations and basically his dad senses are tingling and he decides to foster dick, so goes and picks him up and takes him to the manor
note: dick does not know that bruce is batman
anyway, bruce catches dick. trying to sneak out one night and the conversation goes like:
bruce: whatchadoin? dick: finding the man who killed my parents, people like that shouldn't be in the world" bruce: you want to kill him dick: justice bruce: murder isn't justice, it's revenge
he takes dick back to bed and goes out to finally track down the assassin BUT during this he get's a call from alfred going "bruce, dick is missing" so bruce is freaking out bc he's had this child for less than a day and he's lost him until a ransom comes up telling bruce wayne to go to x location
so he does and he himself gets kidnapped but he escapes once he's wher he should be, he suits up (bc he managed to get the suit there, either under his stupid coat or something i'm not good at this)
he finds his way to this arena where dick is being held but he's not tied up or anything, he's just kind of stood there, and there's the assassin, stood there, looking at him through golden goggles (how else would you describe it)
and surrounding them on a higher level are loads of people in black dresses and suits and white masks that resemble barn owls
it's the motherfuckin' court of owls
and bruce is like "i saved bruce wayne, i'm here to take the boy back home" and the person near dick is like "how about we let the boy choose, back to bruce wayne, where you will be paraded around as his community service project, or with us, where we can train you to get justice for your parents deaths, to take his life like he took you parents lives, and also that dude in the weird owl costume is your undead great-great-grandfather" and dick is stood there trying to choose and bruce says "murder isn't justice, it's revenge" and dick has his little lightbulb "omg bruce wayne is batman" moment, flashback to batman being the only person to comfort him at the circus, and he chooses bruce (obviously)
bruce fights the court and wins (badly injured tho) and they go home
we get a short shot of the court still existing like the gray son of gotham will be ours" and then we go to wayne manor, a few weeks later
dick is swinging from a chandelier and bruce calls for him to get down, he does and runs over to bruce and alfred in the sitting room and he's like "can i see it yet?" and bruce takes him to the batcave, dick bounces around before coming back to bruce
and bruce is like "we will find the man who killed your parents and make sure he is put away for life" and dick is like "we?" and bruce is like "yes"
dick takes the oath, which ends with the bruce calling him robin,
credits roll

second time's a charm
Tumblr media
here's my masterlist!
a/n: ^^^that's a gif btw idk why it's not playing for me. can u see it?
summary: your younger sister called recently to tell you she had found a boyfriend and she wanted you all as a family to meet him.
warnings: again, like the last post. the focus isn't on Bruce being your partner in this one...
pairings: fem!reader x bale!Bruce Wayne
-------------------------------------------------
Two weeks ago your younger sister, Anna called you up and told you that she got a boyfriend and wanted you to meet him. Of course you said yes, as big sister duty and to see who has your baby sister's heart. She knew when she asked that you would want to meet him, but why she really wanted you two to meet was because she needed your opinion and approval. As silly as it sounded, she wouldn't want to be with him if you didn't like him or thought she could do better as she valued your opinion ever so much, like any little sister would-- even though she's not so young anymore. You needed to be there though for different reasons, yes, you wanted to support Anna, but you also wanted to make sure things ran as smoothly as possible and not like when Bruce met your family. To be fair, then, it was uncharted waters and you didn't know what to expect. You want to prevent the invasive mother questions and protective dad mode from arising. Sure, a couple embarrassing stories would be fun, but as long as things didn't go overboard, you were good. You hadn't heard much about this boy only the things that Anna was willing to share when she called you late at night rambling about how their first date went and you could practically see her twirling her hair as if she was in a film.
"Is there a dress code for this sort of thing? Meeting your fiance's sister's boyfriend" Bruce asks from your shared bed while you root through the closet like a racoon in a bin trying to find the perfect fit for Bruce to wear. You felt like a mom picking out clothes for her child. You eventually find what you're looking for and throw it at him while replying
"Yes, not pyjamas. Now get changed"
"Yes, Mom" he says smiling looking for a reaction out of you
"Would you rather pick out an outfit for yourself?" you question, spinning back around to see him now standing up taking off his shirt
"no, you just always do such a good job"
"do you want me to change you too?" you ask, now bickering like an old couple
"you know, I wouldn't mind-" he starts
"tough, you're a grown man that should be able to change AND pick out his own clothes" you say cracking a little smile, despite your efforts to not let it show. You close the door before he had a chance to say something else and also so he didn't she the grin creeping up on your face. You go straight to the kitchen and pour yourself a glass of water because who knew finding clothes for Bruce to wear would be so hard. Not like you hadn't done it hundred times.
Time passes and you two leave to go to your childhood home. It was safe to say you were probably in for a stressful night, constantly listening to make sure your parents don't drift in to a conversation tat would make Anna or her boyfriend uncomfortable. You and Bruce both knew that. The drive to the house was normal, but Bruce could sense that you were slightly worried at the possibilities.
"there's no need to worry, my love. Anna and the new boy should be the nervous ones" He comforts rubbing your hand as much as he could while driving while driving.
"if I don't like him, it will really effect how Anna sees this guy. I just want it to go well. Of course I want to like him and even if I don't, I'm not sure whether to mention it to Anna or to keep it a secret, if I keep it to myself then I feel like she might ignore all the red flags and I don't want her to get hurt but if I do tell her then I will feel like the bad person and that she can't make her own decisions an-" Bruce cuts you off
"you're rambling. I understand you're worried but everything will be fine, I promise" he reassures you sweetly, glancing over to you sitting in the passenger seat. He takes your hand in his and brings it up to his mouth to place it a little kiss into the back of it.
You step out of the car grabbing the last minute things that your dad asked you to pick up on the way here. Bruce meets you at your side and you walk to the door together, entering the house after a quick knock. You are met by your younger brother running up to the door grabbing onto you squeezing the life out his older sister.
You squat down to give him a proper embrace. "hi, big boy! you've grown so much"
"everyone's so excited to see you and mom is shouting at dad a lot" he innocently tells you. bless him for not knowing better.
"and we're here to fix that" you reply to your younger brother, max while getting up to say hi to everyone else. as you're walking away max runs up to Bruce and Bruce picks him up and they exchange greetings. Max looks up to Bruce so much, it's honestly so adorable.
someone that you do not yet recognise catches your attention and you soon realise that it must be the boy of the night, Anna's boyfriend who you still do not know the name of.
"hi, I'm Anna's older sister" you say to him offering your name also. He sticks out his hand for you to shake which catches you off guard but you accept the gesture no less.
"I'm Claude. I am with your sister" he says, a slight French accent flowing it's way to your ears.
"ooh where's that accent from" you inquire not 100% sure if that's an ok question to ask, but you did it anyways.
"my parents are french, my older siblings and I were all born in France and lived there until about eight years ago." he responds with a smile sending proud of his roots
"me and my fiance-- who is somewhere-- were hoping to go next year. any recommendations as to where is nice?" you ask trying to make conversation
he gives you multiple lovely places, explaining each is heaps of detail. you take each into account and make a mental note to check them out later on.
you spot your parents in the kitchen but more specifically, your mother hanging over your father's shoulder bickering with him, telling him that he is cutting the food wrong.
"mom, I don't think you can cut potatoes wrong." you call out catching her attention. she spins around and notices you and visibly sighs in relief.
"thank God you're here" she wraps you in an embrace while telling you how happy she is that you're here.
"everything will be fine. don't worry" you reassure her even though you aren't thinking the same thing at all.
"Anna is upstairs. she wanted me to send you up when you arrived. Where's Bruce?" she inquires looking around.
"with his shadow. I'll go up to her now" you say leaving. passing Bruce and Max on the way, telling him where you're going. You knock on her door and walk in when she says it's good for you to enter. she is sitting at her desk with a mirror propped against the wall touching up her hair. She glances at you in the mirror, puts down the tool and jumps up to run to you.
"I missed you." she tells you into your neck
"I missed you more. sorry I couldn't see you sooner." you answer, pulling back and sitting on her bed.
she sits down next to you and you start to ask her about the boy and teasing her about it and she gets all red and shy but it's so sweet. you've never been in this position before as you only have two younger siblings and Anna is the older of the pair. you remember when she was obsessing over the peeta from the hunger games when she was younger and now look at her. she is graduating soon and you are simply not ready for that. yes, you're not her mother but still, it's strange seeing her like this. You two talk for a little while more before you decide to finish off her hair for her while listening to some nostalgic music from your childhood together.
"he's downstairs. I feel bad leaving him but I need to look good and I'm kinda nervous" she says fiddling with her eyelashes.
"you do look good. And he is definitely not just dating you for your amazing looks, there's no need to worry" you inform her telling the utter truth
There is a knock on the door interrupting you two.
"sorry to interrupt, your mom sent me up. Claude and your family are waiting downstairs because dinner is ready" Bruce says popping in the door.
"oh sorry, we're on our way. just need to make sure Anna is feeling her best" you reply smiling at her in the mirror.
"he seems great, I was talking to him downstairs when max went away to get his new firetruck, that's the only time I got a word in with someone else" Bruce says showing how obsessed your brother is with your boyfriend.
"yeah I think so too. unless he comes out with some major criminal record" you tell her honestly but also glancing to Bruce to see his reaction, as batman doesn't have the best reputation with the cops.
"trust me, he doesn't. he's a good guy" Anna replies giggling a little bit.
"when I introduced myself first, he seemed so starstruck and he was stuttering and getting shy, it was really funny. but to be fair, if I saw George Clooney I would too" Bruce follows up with which makes you laugh and so does anna.
"yeah except, you're not George Clooney" you reply smiling a little bit.
"just hope we turn out like you two. I really like him" she follows up with.
"you want to get engaged or you really like him? they are two different things"
"you can't have both" Bruce replies with still standing in the doorframe.
a look of horror paints it's way onto her face and you quickly have to reassure her you were kidding. you turn off the curler wand start walking down the stairs, encouraging Anna to go first but she didn't want to.
you felt a little bad for Claude waiting by himself downstairs, especially because he doesn't know anyone. Bruce is different, he knows your family and max would keep him occupied anyways. Bruce sits down pulling out a chair for you next to him as he does so. Anna sits down next to Claude also and you all begin eating as everyone is super hungry. During the dinner you kept glancing to Claude to find him glancing at Bruce still starstruck and also did exactly as you said you would, you kept Anna from getting too embarrassed to the point where she wanted to leave and was actually annoyed with your parents. Although, a couple funny childhood stories would be ok but you wanted to stand up for your baby sister when things might get a bit too much.
"so" your father starts talking
"Claude, how do you plan to treat my daughter?" he continues with
"Dad" you warn looking at him trying to prevent exactly what you were afraid of
"I'm kidding. It was a joke. Calm down, care bear. If your mom's dad asked me that at seventeen I would have started sweating and crying in front of him" he admits and the table starts laughing. max too just because everyone else is-- in particular, Bruce. maybe if you weren't so tense you would have noticed it was a joke. God, you needed wine
"wine anyone?" you ask the table getting up and grabbing the bottle of wine you brought. your mom accepts and Bruce denies as he is driving and your dad jut doesn't drink. Hopefully this will help you calm down
questions are thrown at Claude to try and get to know him and he kindly answers. You soon come to the conclusion that you were worrying for no reason at all and didn't need to be so uptight. When you thought you were out of the spotlight your mom brings up an old embarrassing story of you that she promised to never tell anyone. Bruce didn't even know this.
"she went out drinking with some of her friends one time and I knew that they were drinking but she legally was allowed to so I couldn't stop her. But I think we both wish she did listen to me. I waited up for her to make sure she was ok when she came home but nobody walked through the front door, so I went to bed. Maybe she was staying at a friends house and forgot to text or she could sill be out. I don't know. I get waken up by my phone ringing at five am and guess who it is" she says pointing to you at the last part as if the whole table didn't know.
"she was whispering 'mom, can you open the front door please.' thought nothing of it besides the fact it was five am. I opened the door and she wasn't there, so I called her back and asked where she was. she told me she was waiting outside. long story short, she wasn't at our house but a completely different neighbourhood knocking on some innocent families door with some strange woman that I didn't recognise when i picked her up. she told me 'mom, this is angelina' she comes over to me and whispers 'it's angelina jolie. be nice' she thought this random woman was angelina jolie and this poor woman was just following her around because they had been talking all night."
you drop your head in shame as she finishes off the story and embarrassment, Bruce glancing over to you multiple times because he could never imagine you getting that drunk.
"to be fair, I was new to drinking, didn't know my limits and wanted to have fun. Anna, do not ever do anything like that, it was the worst i has ever been it's not worth it"
"Wait, we were together then? You were at least twenty one then" Bruce comments
"yeah, I didn't call you back for like three days." you reply
" I called your parents to make sure you were ok. do you even remember this?" he asks
"no. so this could be completely made up" you admit knowing damn well it was real because of the terrible hangover you had
"oh it was real alright" your dad pipes in
"ok, can we drop it this is embarrassing." you ask ashamed
because of this simple ask, your parents do not in fact drop it and the night ends up being all about you instead of Claude and Anna which was a bit unfair but I guess it was better than embarrassing Anna.
The night ends when Claude's parents ask him to come home. You and Bruce set off then too saying goodbye to Anna, Max and your parents sarcastically thanking them for everything they said.
As you and Bruce drive home and get ready for bed, he won't drop the subject of you getting obliterated drunk.
"I can't wait until I see Alfred next. I'm going to ask him about all the times that you got drunk beyond your limits"
and with that he was quiet and dropped the topic.
"honestly, I think Claude had the hots for you more than Anna. he was staring at you the whole dinner" you say to him
"stop, he just met THE Bruce Wayne. of course he's gonna be starstruck" he replies
"you're so full of it"
and that's how the night you were scared about ended. you were slightly embarrassed to be honest because as you knew deep down in your brain, there was nothing to worry about.

OKAY YK WHAT THONKING ABOUT ARO CARRIE NOWW... I think shed reach a point in her adult life where she realises 'wait im an adult.. The few civillian friends i have are moving out of their parents homes and getting into relationships.. Hmmm' and she brushes the thought aside cos shes batman.. Whyd she have time to move out.. Her and boss got goons to take down yk?? But then she thinks more on it and she realises the idea is so completely unappealing. Move in with some random guy?? But the idea of living alone also feels alien because shes grown up surrounded by the batboys and boss.
Anyway point being: carrie literally just lives with her kinda-dad (bruce) her whole life and bruce never brings it up that it is atypical out of fear that carrie will move out when he does
YES UES YES YOU GET IT. carrie ABSOLUTELY lives w bruce n the batboys. in bruces mind it's just like. dick lived w him jason lived w him why wouldn't carrie live w him? ofc we don't know what happened 2 dick 2 cause the rift btw him n bruce n we know jason died well before he was at moving out age and carrie. she like has a civilian life but it's more just to fill time btw training n detective work n patrol. her friends who aren't even slightly in the know she just says that she has a really demanding night job.
we think she probably keeps an appt in the city just 2 sleep + eat in 2 lessen her commute and that's where she takes friends. in the eyes of her friends she isn't weird for not having moved out bc they think she already has. n accounting for the amount of time she would be on the phone/comm. link for info drops + other work stuff, it wouldn't be hard 2 assume that she's actually texting a partner instead of scheduling an ambush w the flash.
we don't think she'd mind being alone, given her bio parents, but she definitely prefers company. she would HATE dating though. the idea is so far from her mind it's unreal.
we don't think it would be bruce who brings the subject up 2 her tho. it would be like clark or barry, maybe even lara if they're close enough at this point. it would absolutely catch her off guard and she wouldn't know how 2 respond (which she would be ashamed of, bruce taught her better than this)
we're of the opinion that she only thinks of sex and romance in the abstract. she knows that bruce used to play the part of seductive playboy, and she knows that clark and diana didn't will lara into existence, but she doesn't really think about it any further than that. she doesn't give nudity a second thought either. she's seen bruce naked, and bruce has seen her naked, nothing more to it. (she's also seen barry and ray palmer, and she doesn't make a peep abt either) she doesn't really get why people make such a fuss about it.
we also headcanon bruce 2 b aroace as well, so that only reaffirms her worldview. he kissed selina bc that's Just What People Do, and carrie wasn't squeamish abt that either bc that's just Normal Affection. whenever any of the batboys fall for someone she's just like "yeah ok cool did you complete your drills." she knows, logically, that clark and diana are In Love, and that's why they cling to each other so much, but beyond that she doesn't think about it.
HOWEVER. if the conversation of moving out ever came up between them carrie would spiral. she would start to read malcontent in actions that were previously just neutral. bruce doesn't want 2 talk 2day? before, it's just cuz he was tired or overstimulated or was working on a hard case and needed the quiet. now, there's a reason for her to think it's because she's dissatisfied or frustrated with her. it would definitely end in sobbing and bruce having to explain that he obv never valued what was normal anyways, and no he does not want her gone. he is, however, famously bad at communicating so this would take awhile

If Batman found a broken time travel device, re-made it, traveled through the time stream to a few minutes before his parents were murdered, stopped Chill from killing them by violently punching the thug, but not killing him, went back to the time stream before he vanishes and ended up in a different present time line than the one he'd existed in (with another Bruce there), what would the Dark Knight do next? Btw, this scenario takes place shortly after his first outing as the Bat.
In general? He'd probably just watch over the city or change his name or something, maybe even try to find a way back to his own timeline.
My man most likely goes full stalker mode on his own family - he keeps the Batman identity, still watching over the city and seeing how things are different because he fucked up time like a dummy and now has to see just how bad the damage is, but when he realizes there's another version of himself and his parents are alive still he gets obsessed with just watching them from a distance. He basically stalks them 24/7, following them around from a far distance and just staring like a weirdo.
-----
As for this AU? He sees how the city has changed, sees the things that are different and what is the same. He sees how he himself has changed. This time, he doesn't stalk his family like a freak because he knows they aren't his. But he does know what is his - his rogues gallery. He hunts them down one by one, seeing what and who they are in this timeline and how their lives are because there is no Batman in this world. Most of them are the same as they were in his time before he stepped in, but some are very different, in both good and bad ways.
Most shockingly: Joker, who is just regular old Jack Napier here. He never fell into the acid, never became Joker, never lost himself. He never became Batman's greatest failure. And the idea of that is something Batman obsesses over - he needs to see what Joker was, who he was. He needs to see what life was like before. Batman has never been able to figure Joker out, the guy has always been a mystery, so now that there was a chance to really solve that case Batman wasn't going to just turn it down.
So, instead of stalking his own family, he stalks Joker (or, Jack Napier, really).
As he watches this poor guy he still tries to figure out how to get back to his own time. By the time he does, he's learned enough about all the rogues - Joker in particular - that he can't really look at them the same. Whenever he looks at them he sees what they could've been if he hadn't stepped in. The mantel of Batman is now stained by the perception of what could've been. He starts to see everything different; he starts to see things the way Joker would. "We're the same, Batsy, you and I. We both know what it's like to suffer, we both have the power to ruin this world, and we could if we really wanted to! But, we don't, because that'd ruin our fun. Our mistakes guide us in this never ending dance. Each turn and each twist. We both know what it's like to ruin. And, in truth, we find comfort in the ruin. We thrive off of it. Isn't that right, Batsy?" (Yeah, rambled coo-coo bullshit, but still somehow poetic I think.) He feels the need to give up the cowl, to start over.
I wanna say this leads to him taking a long look at himself and becoming a new man who is even more bent on saving these people, but we all know character development isn't Bruce Wayne's strong suit. Most likely he gives up and retires the cape and cowl, disbanding the Bat Family and leaving the Justice League, becoming a recluse in Wayne Manor that no one really knows the reason for.
The rogues run rampant on the city until they get bored. Some of them leave, some of them stay and turn to either smaller or larger lives of crime, and others do all they can to get Batman's attention - that's why they became villains, after all, what else do they have?
So, really, no happy endings for anyone! Yippee!

Dude you are SO right, you have no idea.
Imagine Duke is having a bad day and Damian walks in and is like "...wanna get some ice cream?"
And Duke's like "...yeah :("
They get ice cream but get pulled over on the way home because Damian was the one driving.
(btw this is an off topic rant, but I've seen people say that Duke isn't part of the batfam. Uhhh, yes the fuck he is. "b-but in the comics he says that Bruce isn't his dad!! And his mom is alive!!" so fucking what? The batfam is (imo) a found family, which doesn't have to fall into the typical "parent/child" He might not be adopted by Bruce, nor see him as a father figure, but that doesn't mean Bruce can't see him as a son. And he can see the rest of the batfam as his siblings [which I believe he does, but I don't have a source on that]. All this to say, Duke is part of the batfam send post)
Headcanon that Damian calls Duke his little brother (like Fransika von Karma does with Miles Edgeworth) because he joined the family later. Also because he just hates being the "baby" of the family.
So he's like "Yeah, I'm hanging out with my younger brother Duke later today." to like Maps or Maya. And their like "Oh, I haven't met him before. But that checks out."
And then Duke comes in and he's just a bit younger than Tim and Steph while Maya/Maps was expecting a 4-10 year old.
Idk I think it's funny lol.

What's funny is how this makes me think of parents shittier than Bruce. It's almost like starting with Marv Wolfman giving us Trigon, Deathstroke, and Myand'r, writers insisted? Chuck Dixon gave us David Cain, someone who literally made me want to reach into the panel and strangle him. Tom King had that whole thing with two sisters at war, and as a bonus, they're related to Kate. That's bats for you.
Comics of the 80s-2000s are obsessed with terrible parents! In the Bat books alone, just off the top of my head, you've got Harvey Dent's parents, the retcon to make Barbara's biological dad an alcoholic, Steph's dad, Helena's whole deal, the retcon to make Catwoman into Falcone's daughter, David Cain (created by Kelley Puckett and Damion Scott, btw), Ra's al Ghul, SHONDRA KINSOLVING DEAR LORD.
(There were of course plenty of bad parents outside of Bat books—this is the era where Wally's relationship with his dad was changed to be much more complicated, for instance.)
It's funny, because I think Wolfman and Perez, at least, understood what they were doing with Bruce. Like, you read through New Teen Titans, you look at all of Dick's interactions with Bruce, and that's not just an abusive father, that's an abusive father written by people who have put some real thought into the exact kind of abusive he is. In NTT, when Bruce hits Dick, it's not out of nowhere, and it doesn't go nowhere. The argument in New Titans #55 is heavily tied into Dick and Bruce's specific history, and after Bruce hits Dick, he immediately starts gaslighting him about a real conversation that we've seen them have previously. In subsequent issues, Dick talks to a therapist about the incident, and it lays the groundwork for the response he's going to have in Batman: Year Three and A Lonely Place of Dying. Like, the one line from Batman: Year Three:
"I feel like the child of an alcoholic—you know the problem isn't yours, but it is."
That's not a line written by someone who thinks that Dick and Bruce's relationship is healthy!
We all love to talk about how the Titans all hate each other's parents, and I think for Wolfman and Perez, that's very much the point of the team. These are young adults who have all been very let down by their parents in one way or another, and so they find each other and become each other's family. So yes, Trigon and Deathstroke and Myand'r and Bruce are all different kinds of bad, but they're all part of the same conversation.
But then you move out of the Titans era and into the solo Nightwing era, and it's the 90s and comics are just getting generally grimmer, and Batman is being written as increasingly violent and isolationist. And all of the behaviors he had under Wolfman and Perez are still there, and sometimes even worse, but he's being written by people who I don't think actually understand that he's abusive. Like, in this post, I don't think either Ed Brubaker or Chuck Dixon noticed or intended that parallel.
As for O'Neil, I honestly think he just leaned towards reconciliation generally, and towards a much less abusive characterization of Bruce specifically, and I guess introducing EXTREMELY TERRIBLE fathers in Nightwing Vol 1 was his way of squaring that circle. I'm thinking about "Snowbirds Don't Fly," and how O'Neil wanted that story to end with Roy and Ollie reconciling—even though there was absolutely no reason they should've! It feels like a similar impulse was at play in his Nightwing mini.

Billion Dollar Baby
You tricked me.
--
Y/N
Actually, no. Since we have history, I will even add a bonus to our fruitful collaboration. A valuable lesson : always be extremely precise when you ask for something. In particular here, in Gotham.

Billion Dollar Baby
I hate you.

Y/N
You sound like an angry little boy who is sulking. Oh wait. You are.
...
Btw you're welcome, ungrateful little brat.

I'm the Bat?! (Earth 1T8) - The Court of Owls
More like WHY THE COURT? Feats Talon-Ric-Dick
Note: English is not my language, so I hope you will be understanding of any flaws you find.
NO, I'M THE BAT?! IS NOT A Yandere!Talon!Dick x Bat!Reader, IT'S JUST THE MOOD THIS MONTH, OKAY?
Because they are NOT crazy. And because I read Isekai Villainess things... and because 2nd option was League of Assasins and I didn't know how to put Damian in and it seemed like a must if I did 😅 Must betareadthis
Among the villains of Gotham, it's irremediable for our Bats (if they knows anything about lore) to empathize with a large part of them. Even if not, Gotham and Batman, compared to other heroes /antiheroes/vigilantes has always been known for villains who not only have the standard sad background or in which an outside observer could project themselves, but also had mental affections.
The Court of Owls however is made up of sane, greedy, ambitious, determined people among many things. And paraphrasing a sage from here Tumblr; there are few ways to make a perfect assassination, but many to scam the state without being detected.
The danger of the Court of Owls for our Bat!Reader, and I think of Batman is that they're an enemy that, if they were led by a head or council as intelligent as the members of the Batfam are (which IS THE CASE IN EARTH 1T8) and willwork accordingly; they has the potential to do the same things as President Lex Luthor, Bruce Wayne, and Batman.
After all they're many rich and influential families united, even if individually they aren't close to the Wayne or Luthor.
So, here is Reader, with an opponent who, just think about it, doesn't oppose him illegally but by the damned and badly written law, using it, and among public resources and the population itself. And we all know and have seen how humanity works as a conglomerate, as a herd. And how hateful legal procedure is and change it for the better (there's a reason Bruce put on the cape to begin with!) They would be an enemy that Reader couldn't overthrow without taking the city, or even the country, with them, as long as the Court knows how to play their cards (btw I don't understand how, having been in Gotham so long, were they so "easily" destroyed without the city resenting it).
After all, Bruce doesn't put all of his eggs in one basket that's why Batman is there, so why should the Court?
But rest assured, our Bats even if isn't a genius from birth, is a genius of hard work, has educated themselves, has bled, sweated and cried to get to where it is and has a precognitive advantage.
Them, this would equalize and "nullify" them. It kinda would make Gotham City something similar to other cities, an unknown blessing to its inhabitants.
And it would also serve to cover the "weird hobby" part of the Bat!Reader, maintaining an annoyance and activity to occupy the mind, without oversaturating it.
TALON OR OWLMAN
Tumblr media
"Y/N Wayne... The Court of Owls has sentenced you to..."
In Earth 1T8, this whole not-so-hypothetical situation occurred after the annexation of Dick Grayson to the Court of Owls; they had to put someone smart in the lead to keep up with him, or at least someone with... balls to got him as we could say.
This Dick wasn't totally reprogrammed for various reasons, among others than the Court intention of "breeding" the perfect Talon acted as a double-edged sword. But, damn if he still did not learned the best-worst that he could.
And when his yandere tendencies towards Reader started to erupt, this learning obviously included being more cunning and how to get away getting the ONLY thing he wanted given that between his grandfather and Bats the issues of his parents were well settled.
As I mention before, Dick has various masks going in this AU but, although he may even pretend confusing them (more like, Dick and Talon actually) for his "parents", the truth is that he has very clear who is who. And Reader has the bad habit of getting the Dick in him... mainly because something else wouldn't be credible for our Bat.
He's increasingly tempted by the idea of giving a coup in the Court to stop having bosses and not being "spurred" by his weakness (electrum), not that he needs to use it as often as the rest of Talons for obvious reasons.
Definitely for him his grandfather has ceased to be a family and a teacher and has become a roof and a chain, so it's the first ballast that will fall so that he can spread his wings and fly away with you.
Of course, no one knows that Talon is obsessed with Bats, only that Ric is fixated on Wayne, but this isn't to say that an observer searching it cannot notice. Talon enjoys more than is allowed to lose in one way or another all his weapons to enter melee with the Bat, for example. And if he's not sent on a mission related to you... he just kills another Talon, puts himself in their place, and after the encounter, lets the body seems as if went through as the most convenient death in the ensuing melee. Of course, losing the opportunity is NOT an option.
Sadly, it's because of so many masks that Dick can't afford to kidnap you just yet and do his ways to makes sure to grab all your attention he can in any mask he has. Ric gaslight artistically everyone he catches on his way to you, metaphorically pulling as many people out of many windows as necessary.
And when he "gots" you, the blue of his eyes darkens, highlighting the gold that has corrupted them. But, when you gots Dick, his smile and his eyes are the most damaging of his weapons.
"...come with me".

This is a very common thing that probably isn't healthy but happens nonetheless
But it's one thing for your mom to be mad and scold you, and another for your dad who just so happens to be someone who has been trained by assassins and martial arts masters everywhere and is also known for a very concerning history of violence and tyrannical behavior when in a bad mood
Even if we go for Good Parent Bruce, the knowledge that there is a trained man who knows how to hurt and incapacitate you in the house--add knows where you are-- is just...
It's terrifying. He won't hurt you, since he's a dad who's trying to be a good one, but it's scary to know that someone has the ability to badly hurt you and that he is in the same building.
And especially for Jason and Steph who have sperm donors with histories of physical abuse (depending on the backstories, but these two seem to always have abusive dads)
all the reblogs here are great btw
you know that thing that’s like. your mom controls the mood in whole house, so like when she’s mad, it’s a bad day for everyone?
do you think the batkids have that with bruce?
i’m usually the biggest champion of “let bruce be a good and thereby emotionally heathy dad” but speaking semi-realistically:
do you think that bruce, out of the cowl, is so emotionally volatile that he creates the vibe for the whole house?
do you think tim would text jason and be like “not a good day don’t come by” just to spare himself and everyone else from bruce blowing up on someone
do you think damian breathes a sigh of relief whenever he wakes up and bruce is in a good mood because it means he can relax
and that bruce still doesn’t notice that on his worst days, everyone either avoids him or does whatever he asks, no questions, just because they don’t want to tempt his wrath
i just wonder if bruce sets the tone for the day, no matter what. and i wonder if, like me, they all grew up knowing that a bad day for bruce was a bad day for them too?
