constructing an actually informative model of consumer prices, cost of living, debt and buying power is simultaneously extremely complex in the granular sense (TVs cost less now than in 1990 because TVs are now subsidized by selling consumer data and serving ads, for example) and extremely simple (are you able to pay for a better life now than in 1990). the simple view is something like, are you happier now than you were in 2010. is doing things, in general, easier or harder. can you afford to buy things you need, or are you having to put up with broken things instead of fixing or replacing them. the average guy on the street has his own personal understanding of line go up or down, which is why vibes based polling should be taken extremely seriously in economics discussions.

economics discussions about "the economy" are currently stuck in the same place 20th medicine got stuck in, describing an objective underlying illness that's disconnected from the subjective experience of the patient, even though the patient themselves will tell you, and it should be obvious btw, that whether they have pain or find things harder to do or will die sooner is actually the only thing that matters.

i am absolutely not interested in hearing arguments about why the economy actually rocks now and Gen Z is rich when we have unambiguous numbers about homelessness increasing sharply every single year. you pay for housing and all the things that you need in order to get and keep housing with your own personal access to resources. access to those resources has decreased for almost everyone. therefore the economy, the shared delusion we all have to participate in to survive and operate in extractive capitalism, is bad. any other definition of "the economy" is irrelevant in the context of discussing the national and international Normal Guy.

i simply don't care about anything else. i don't own property. i don't even own any money, I'm just a hole that money passes through on its way to debt and expenses. 71% of Americans are living this way according to Forbes as of 2024.

i'll try and make it as brief as possible, but my comedy of errors retelling/reimagining is literally my entire life (it's where my url comes from since the original title was Sure Uncertainty)

it's called That Makes Two Of Us, and it's a teen coming of age comedy set in the 80s (1988 to be precise) and it's also queer as shit and i'm currently working on writing the screenplay with my partner @drama-dick ! here's my art of all the main characters in one place!

it's basically like, the vague story of comedy of errors (identical twins/mixup, etc.) but in our version their family is separated bc of queerphobia (the parents are queer, their dad is trans and their mom is bi) and that's a main theme in the book. it's mostly focused on the love square between the Antonys (Antipholuses) and Addie and Lucy (Adriana and Luciana), similarly to the play, except in this case, without the cheating and misogyny and they're dumb teenagers instead of grown-ass adults. Also Angelo is genderbent to Angel, a goth lesbian who sells jewelry and the light of my fucking life, and the Dromios are also genderbent and instead of just being comic relief, they have their own arcs and everything

it's basically comedy of errors without all the problematic/dumb elements and with actual heart and themes to it, it's about identity and finding yourself, and the way others perceive you not matching up with who you really are, in both a queer/trans way and a being-mistaken-for-your-twin-sibling-you-didn't-know-existed way

it's always disheartening seeing all these polls about 'who's your bias?' because it's kind of a way to push individualism instead of unity in the fandom :/ don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with having a bias. i mean we all do (that'd be hypocritical to say otherwise) but those polls seem to push people into competing about who's the most popular and that saddens me. i'm saying all of that from the polls i've seen. it's sort of a popularity contest and, generally, the ones at the bottom of the list are looked over and it's so sad :( anyway i don't want to bring too much negativity to our conversations so i'll stop here ^^ but i'm honestly shocked to see seungkwan at the bottom of the polls because he seems like such a lovely guy and he's funny and kind too

i don't stan a lot of groups, i'm more of a casual listener but if i had to list the groups i like i'd say: f(x), 2NE1 (yes i'm putting them here even when they're no longer active because they hold a special place in my heart), shinee, txt, svt (duh!), woo!ah! and everglow. i listen to a lot more groups but those are the main ones.

nmixx is an interesting group. idk where jyp will take them honestly but i can't wait to see more of them and find out what genre(s) they'll explore in the future. as for loona :/ yeah, the whole situation is messed up. the only thing i'm wishing is for the girls to finally be free and get compensated for their work (even if it means disbanding </3)

Spoiled for choice

In the spirit of continued transparency, here’s an update on the Charmed! class selection process:

I asked people to make it hard on me, and you did!  There are so many great class proposals that picking only 72 was agonizing.  In fact, I cheated a bit -- a few of the more social- or entertainment-oriented offerings are going to be held as after-dinner activities, where I hope they will be able to draw a larger audience while also freeing up daytime class slots.

Now comes the really hard part:  I am going to have to tell some people, including some that I love and respect, that their classes did not make the cut. I axed most of my own class proposals to make room for new presenters and fresh ideas.  And I own every decision, for better or worse.

The Charmed! board is currently looking over the draft class list, and I may change a thing or two based on their feedback.  But we are on track for me to notify all of the presenters next week and publish the presenter and class lists soon after.

To the Anon who suggested a vote, I still like that idea but I thought it was important to do what I promised this year.  The idea in my head right now is to do a poll about class topics before opening the call for proposals, so I can tell prospective presenters what topics people are most interested in ahead of time rather than risking a presenter popularity contest. 

BTW, I’m going to GKE in a couple of hours; see you all next week.

so i want to talk about doomfist but i feel like he deserves another day. so instead ill talk about how i said that fox news uses fallacies in their argument and often makes misleading claims by cherry picking. now i know i didnt provide examples when i did that like a week ago. so today im going to provide 2 videos from fox news and argue against them.

this ones about the stance on transgenders and how this person believes that it is child abuse. the first thing that i did was look up the sources. the first is from dr michelle cretella who is the president of the american college of pediatricians. the american college of pediatricians was tagged as a hate group from the southern poverty law center who uses their power to advance their political agenda. the SPLC is a nonprofit that works with the FBI. i refuse to trust a source that is categorized as a hate group. im just going to post the wiki page but feel free to dive deeper. there are some big red flags going on, one of which is that fox news trusts in the probability that their viewers arent educated or have the care to look up these things. (btw, there are many studies that would argue the exact opposite of whats being said)

alright, second one and this one is packed. the thing that pisses me off the most about the claim that the media is biased against trump is that fox news IS MEDIA. they are part of that. they cant just claim that theyre not media when theyre the number one news source among republicans. anyways the claim that leftist media is only talking about russia and trumps ratings tanking because of russia is bold and stupid. the problem with the claim that theyre only talking about russia is stupid because russia is a current, large, and likely illegal, scandal. also healthcare is pretty big right now too. the media is supposed to talk about the things that the president fucked up on, we cant just turn a blind eye on the possibility that the strongest man on earth cheated by partnering with a hostile foreign power to rig our supposed to be fair election. imagine the shit hillary wouldve gotten if she did the same thing. speaking of hillary, fox is still obsessive about hillary too and its a little unfair. russia is not the reason trump is tanking, trump’s ratings are tanking due to a number of various factors and russia is only one among many. another would be healthcare which was the leading policy that all republicans banded over (remember repeal and replace?). next he pulls out a phrase “watch the people not the polls” because statistically trump is failing in almost every way but his rallies are packed. look, obamas rallies were also packed but were we supposed to believe that everyone liked obama because of it? no, thats why we have polls and statistics. this claim is basically saying that we should ignore the majority of the population for a bias and select few. and he tries to appeal to the feelings of the viewers by talking about how those republicans are real american people who care about their families and in doing so dehumanizes liberals by saying theyre not real american people who care about their families. next he talked about the presidents speech at the boy scouts jamboree and how the washington post criticized trump for being very political with his speech that has always been nonpolitical

fox news just writes it off as the washington post having problems with the boy scouts which is very misleading when even the chief scout of the boy scouts had to apologize to the kids and parents for the political rhetoric that the president put out. then he talked about how republicans will be ridiculed for listening to the people and not the liberal propaganda.

thats only the first half of the video. its clear that fox news wants to bring out the feeling that the republican party is the underdog and theyre rising to power behind trump who is doing great things (hes not). theyre even willing to say that fox news is the “people” and not the media when it is the media. they also tell people to essentially be ignorant of the truth and live in the small world of only the republican party. and they call liberals sheltered and special snowflakes.

edit: before i get off for the hate messages, i should probably add that liberal media can do similar shit however its usually not as bad and sometimes the facts are partisan.
