Repost for future reference.
There is a lot of information out there about weaving, crocheting and knitting, but relatively little about spinning.
Which is a shame, since spinning is really where the "resource provided by the earth" tangibly becomes "object with a use."
Aspects of spinning, such as the amount of twist and the length of the fibers, are impactful upon the thread or yarn created, but lots of fiber crafters don't get to directly play with those variables...
It is so strange how textile production is so utterly dominated by very few fibers, when so many are possible. Industry keeps coming up with new ways to transform bamboo or something into fibers, which is all well and good, but we have yet to run out of easily usable natural fibers that have worked for thousands of years.
Dogbane—Apocyonum cannabinum—was called "Indian hemp" because it was used by Native Americans for ropes, cords and textiles. It's incredibly strong, soft, and easy to collect large amounts of it. But hardly anybody uses it.

Ever After High Reimagined: Hunter Huntsman Redesign/Character Bio.
Hunter Huntsmann
Trans Boy
Son of the Huntsman (Maori-Scottish)
Hunter Huntsmann is a boy who simply wants to protect the woods he loves and the creatures who live in them, play guitar in a band with his friends and be with the girl he loves. Unfortunately the destiny system isn't kind, and Hunter specifically is expected of so many unreasonable things, expected to be both hero and villain in multiple tales, his father's ideal, preposterously masculine son, a butcher of beasts and a killer of princesses… The list goes on, and Hunter, sweet and soft hearted, cannot be doing with any of it, he's rebelling no questions asked, and determined to grow into and be his own ideal of a man along the way…
Likes: Being with ashlynn, playing the guitar ,woodworking, hiking and helping animals.
Dislikes: Pesky the Squirrel, capitalism, his dad's bullheadedness and chauvinism, traps and snares and people trashing the woods.
Spellbinding Style: Rugged outdoor wear found in your typical outdoors store, typically in green, brown and neutral tones with myriad flourishes from both his parents cultures including Highland dress and Korowai cloaks for more formal occasions,he's particularly drawn to kilts, and Ashlynn thinking he looks dashingly handsome in them does help that…
Companion creature: Pesky the Squirrel. Hunter doesn't really enjoy the concept of owning a pet but Pesky, who has made it seemingly his life's mission to screw with hunter, is around him so much he might as well be one…
Hexworthy vex: Aside from Pesky, his father's posturing, chauvinist machismo and his mother's refusal to stand up to his attitude. He knows it's partly because of how they were raised (and why he has no desire to see his grandparents much) ,but their insistence on playing their parts infuriates him.
“Oh Curses” moment: Hunter is a bit of a doormat especially surrounding his family, surprisingly for somebody branded a rebel, he and Ashlynn share a desire not to upset the proverbial apple cart. In a better world both would find the courage to speak out, but for myriad reasons neither feels like they can, and all things considered it's driving both of them to their wits ends!
Storied Secret: Hunter never quit doing many of the “girly” things his dad assumed he had upon coming out, chiefly staying on the cheerhexing team when he said he'd join the other boys playing sports. (although faybelle would never let him had he tried, he's too integral to many of faer routines…)
Deepest wish: to be a wildlife veterinarian, helping and healing animals instead of hunting and trapping them.
5 Fantastical Facts
Hunter fancies himself a barber in addition to a vet, cutting his hair into a signature style to differentiate himself from his father, no one has the heart to tell him it looks dreadful…
On the other hand, Hunter is skilled and adaptable at bushcraft and is able to make just about anything with whatever random materials he finds in the forest and his trusty penknife.
Hunter is a vegan, as well as a very skilled forager and cook, his much-lauded specialty being hāngī-cooked vegetables,a firm favourite among his friends despite many inevitable puns about “hole foods” being slung around during the cooking process.
Beyond his girlfriend and friends, Hunter is closest to his younger sister, Fern, but due to the insistence of his father he act “strong, stoic and the like” as a show of masculinity, , Hunter however knows this is all a bunch of bunk, had he not transitioned he figures he'd have an equal hand in raising Fern as his homemaker mother.
Hunter is The Rebels backup guitarist, owning both an acoustic and electric guitar. He's also one of two members of the band to know how to play multiple instruments and the only one who knows how to make them, whistles and flutes among the projects he's carved.
This week's Rebel is Hunter, the nature loving token boy of the Rebels and secret true love of Ashlynn Ella.
Further information and thoughts down below:
Hunter being trans is an idea I like immensely, whilst gender roles have been played with in eah before (cough, cough Darling) the expectations that boys are intended to fulfil wasn't, Hunter is a vehicle to do so...
Hunter isn't a traditional "manly" guy, he's an athletic boy with much knowledge and skill for the outdoors for sure, but he's not or much of a leader,he's sensitive and patient and happy to lend his support to others regardless they be animal or person. But still isn't what everybody wants of him...
I like to imagine that hunters rebellion ties into his ideal to be the man he wants to be instead of what everybody else thinks he should be, and how he wishes who he is could be the man everybody is looking for, be it with his father wanting a traditionally "manly" son or his destiny wanting a dashing prince instead of a big hearted forestman.
One final thing to note is that Hunter ironically is very much akin to the Prince from Cinderella and even Cinderella herself, the Prince in that story isnt defined quite rarely for his heart, devoting weeks upon weeks of time to find the girl who he only knew for a few short hours, and uncaring of her social standing to boot, as well as being a person from a lower social standing forced into a situation he's not comfortable with, and his reprieve being found in an upper class person. (though in truth, both hunter and ashlynn are each other's rocks and reprieves from the troubles in their lives)

Create Unforgettable Family Memories on Safari at Tanda Tula
youtube
There’s no better way to create lifelong memories with your loved ones than by embarking on a family safari. And when it comes to blending luxury, authenticity, and adventure, Tanda Tula stands out as one of the best destinations in Africa for families seeking an unforgettable safari experience. Nestled in the heart of South Africa’s renowned Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, Tanda Tula offers a unique opportunity for families to connect with nature, encounter magnificent wildlife, and enjoy warm, personalized hospitality in one of the most beautiful corners of the world.
A Safari Lodge That Feels Like Home What sets Tanda Tula apart is its genuine commitment to creating a welcoming, family-friendly environment without compromising on the luxury and authenticity that define an African safari. The name “Tanda Tula,” meaning “to love the quiet” in Shangaan, reflects the lodge’s ethos of peaceful coexistence with nature.
Tanda Tula offers beautifully appointed tents and safari suites that blend into the natural surroundings, providing a true “under canvas” experience while ensuring modern comforts. Families can enjoy spacious accommodations with interleading rooms, private decks, and stunning views of the bush, making it the ideal base for parents traveling with children.
Tailored Family Safari Activities A family safari at Tanda Tula goes beyond traditional game drives. The lodge’s experienced rangers and trackers specialize in working with children, ensuring that each game drive or nature walk is educational, safe, and fun for all ages. From spotting the iconic Big Five to tracking smaller creatures like dung beetles and chameleons, children are encouraged to engage with the wilderness at their own pace.
Tanda Tula’s Children on Safari program is thoughtfully designed to spark curiosity and wonder in young travelers. Activities such as animal tracking, bushcraft lessons, and stargazing ensure that kids not only have fun but also gain a deeper appreciation for the environment. Meanwhile, parents can relax knowing their children are in the hands of passionate guides who love sharing their knowledge.
A Culinary Journey for All Ages A family safari is as much about the food as it is about the wildlife, and Tanda Tula excels in creating dining experiences that cater to all ages and tastes. The lodge’s chefs pride themselves on using fresh, local ingredients to craft delicious meals served in breathtaking settings — from hearty breakfasts under the trees to candlelit dinners in the boma (open-air enclosure) beneath the stars.
For families with younger children, the kitchen is happy to accommodate early meal times or prepare special dishes, ensuring even the pickiest eaters are well taken care of. Dining at Tanda Tula is a shared experience that brings everyone together, whether around the breakfast table or the evening fire.
Luxury Meets Sustainability Tanda Tula is deeply committed to sustainability, conservation, and community empowerment. Staying here gives families a chance to support responsible tourism that benefits both wildlife and local communities. The lodge operates in harmony with its surroundings, using solar power, recycling initiatives, and water conservation measures to minimize its environmental footprint.
Tanda Tula’s connection to the local community adds another layer of depth to the family safari experience. Guests can visit nearby villages, learn about Shangaan culture, and see firsthand how the lodge supports education, health, and job creation projects. These meaningful interactions provide children with valuable lessons in cultural appreciation and global citizenship.
Creating Lifelong Memories One of the most magical aspects of a family safari at Tanda Tula is the sense of wonder and connection it fosters. Imagine your child’s eyes lighting up as they spot their first elephant, or the excitement of gathering around a campfire to share stories of the day’s sightings. These moments become treasured family memories that will be talked about for years to come.
Tanda Tula’s personalized approach ensures that every family’s safari is unique. Whether it’s arranging a private game drive, organizing a special bush breakfast, or setting up a family-friendly sundowner, the team goes above and beyond to tailor each stay to guests’ needs and preferences.
Tips for Planning Your Family Safari To make the most of your family safari at Tanda Tula, here are a few practical tips:
Choose the right time of year: The dry winter months (May to September) are typically the best for game viewing, as animals gather near water sources. However, the summer months (October to April) offer lush landscapes, birdwatching, and baby animals.
Pack smart: Bring lightweight, neutral-colored clothing, sun hats, sunscreen, and comfortable walking shoes. Don’t forget binoculars and a good camera to capture those unforgettable moments.
Consider age-appropriate activities: While Tanda Tula welcomes children of all ages, some activities may have minimum age requirements. Talk to the lodge ahead of time to plan the best experiences for your family.
Trust the experts: Let the Tanda Tula team know about your family’s interests or any special requests — they’ll help create a customized itinerary that balances adventure and relaxation.
Why Tanda Tula is the Ultimate Family Safari Destination In a world where families are often pulled in many directions, a safari at Tanda Tula offers a rare chance to slow down and reconnect with each other in a breathtaking setting. It’s a place where children can play, learn, and explore under the watchful eye of expert guides, and where parents can unwind and savor the magic of the African bush.
Whether you’re a first-time safari-goer or a seasoned traveler, Tanda Tula’s blend of luxury, authenticity, and heart makes it the ultimate family safari destination. Here, the wild becomes your classroom, nature your playground, and every day an adventure to remember.

I've had fake videogames and perhaps concepts for real video games on my mind lately. There was this video on youtube about fake video games by Supereyepatchwolf that kind of. Further opened my eyes to that fact that I can litterally make concepts for anything I want while pretending they are real and inffering a grander story with more labour behind it. Mock covers, game manuals, screenshots ect. I was already a big fan of projects like this with many unfiction projects really serving as inspiration for how stories can be told. I think it's just INCREDIBLY cool.
But I have two particular games of my own in mind that I've been thinking about quite a lot as of late.
The first is 'DESTIN'. This would be a text based adventure, and probably the most feasible project I can make on my own at the moment. We follow Dustin, an astronaut in training who wakes after a van crash in a snowy woodlands and has to brave and survive the wilds crawling with dangerous mutants. It's going to be a survival psychological horror game. It's based off of the things I learned about survival psychology years ago because the base things that people require to survive and prioritize in these situations are very fascinating to me. For instance, one of the greatest enemies of survival is actually boredom/loneliness. To counteract this you are recommended to keep busy even when you aren't serving other needs like hunting or building shelter. You accomplish this through bushcraft. Amongst the things you can craft, it helps to make a 'bush buddy' an object that you can talk to, and Dustin is given this option in the game. Without giving too much away, all the run throughs will be connected, even if you get a game over, it feeds back into landing at the start again. Over the course of the game Dustin will unravel the secrets behind the mutagenic virus, it's various effects and recall things himself that had been forgotten. Increasingly, the question that will be asked is what makes someone human? What are the limits of humanity? Can this even be truely answered?
The second has the working title 'Frigid'. It is a fantasy RPG that begins when the Winter Lord; the entity that controls winters in this world re-emerges with an onslaught on all of humanity as vengeance for it's attempted murder. This onslaught is first unleashed on a small village established near it's lair and one of the victims, frozen alive is the fiance of the descendant of one of the original swordsmen who slayed the winter lord. He sets off on his quest to exact his own vengeance and slay the Winter Lord once more and once and for all.
...Unbeknownst to him however, is the resurrection of his fiance by her own force of will. She absorbs a fragment of the winter lord's power and re-animates herself. This is Daphne. The true protagonist of our game. With her new power, she too sets off on a quest to stop the winter lord. But along the way she is met with the hostility of the winter lord's thralls and human warriors alike. Resembling a thrall herself and wielding the same power, some have begun to claim that she is The Winter's Knight, created by the Winter Lord. There are multiple routes in this game based on the choices that Daphne makes in her situation, and there are other companions she may meet along the way such as a were-hyena bard and a sorcerer of darkness. As Daphne progresses, she realizes more and more that things in this world are not all as they seem and are told to be...
I have in mind some pieces I want to make for each. I was thinking about fake screenshots and box art for DESTIN and sprite art for Frigid as well as heaps of character, prop and set design concepts.
It all actually reminds me of when I was really young and I drafted up a concept for an MMO with notes about character customization, pets, different areas that you could visit and so on. It didn't really matter if it was something I could never make. I certainly wasn't considering the logistics of running an MMO - I just really enjoyed MMO's like Adventure Quest and Runescape and I wanted to make one myself.
It's been easy to feel as I'd gotten older and began considering those logistics that I shouldn't really bother with concepts for things that will never be. Like there's really no point to it if I can't make the thing myself or ever amass a team to make it happen...But I have since realized that there is so much beauty in concept work alone and so much to be inferred from a few convincing scraps. Those little pieces alone can tell you so much. And the world is better having seen these pieces, however small they may be. Our creative expression, our own ideas and our art matters, and it deserves to be seen, shared and communicated.
If I can manage to organize myself a little better, I think I can make both of these projects happen in some conceptual form. I've been thinking about them each a lot lately and I feel like im bursting at the seams to tell the stories that I am thinking of and the concepts inside of them. I want to share the affinity that I feel for my characters and explore poignant scenes. I feel at times like the best way I can do that is through the visual medium, which is why I feel such determination to create illustrations and concept drawings, but I thought that writing about it might help me get it off my chest a little bit.

ISAAC
(The following article may contain spoilers for the Looming Gaia series!)
Name: Isaac of Drifter's Hollow
Place of Origin: Trial of Titans of Serkel Desert, Serkel
Date of Birth: Summer, 5990(?)
Species: Human(?)
Occupation: Mercenary
Known Relatives: Karenza (mother)
First Appearance: "Trial of Titans"
History: Karenza, the Divine of Love, was so heartbroken over the death of her mortal child that she decided to give life to a new child using her divine powers. She crafted a baby out of clay, the bones of her mortal child, and blood from herself and her lover, and breathed life into him with a magical kiss. This baby was known as Isaac, and Karenza wished to give him everything her lost child was denied.
The one thing she could not give him was a soul, so she sought help from the Divine of Death, and asked him to transfer her own soul into Isaac's body. Once she did, her little monster became a mortal, and she decided that he should live his life among other mortals, for the world of divines was dangerous and complex.
Karenza wiped Isaac's memory of her and sealed him in a dungeon called the Trial of Titans. There Isaac slept for ages, waiting for someone brave enough, smart enough, and righteous enough to set him free.
One day, a band of mercenaries called the Freelance Good Guys did just that. Isaac was swiftly adopted into their crew and raised as one of their own.
Personality: Isaac is fascinated by the world and all its endless wonders. Silly, inquisitive, and easily amused, he manages to entertain himself in every situation. He has a bit of a mischievous streak, but he means no harm. He just wants to have fun!
Isaac's playfulness even extends into his mercenary work. He likes to turn combat situations into a dance party, and is known to play juvenile pranks on his foes.
Isaac is a soft-hearted individual with a special affinity for animals. Like his mother, he can't stand injustice and tries to right the world's wrongs wherever he can. His attention span is lacking, however, and his own immaturity is his biggest obstacle.
TRIVIA
Favorite Food(s): Tuna with hot sauce. Chocolate. Candy pears.
Favorite Color(s): Green. Pink. Yellow.
Favorite Animal(s): Roc.
Hobbies/Skills: Parkour. Climbing. Farming and ranching. Bushcraft. Roc piloting. Astral projecting.
Religious Affiliation(s): Agnostic.
Likes: Animals. Camping. Exploring. Comic books. Flying.
Dislikes: Storms. Catfish (food). Books without pictures. Sex and romance. Hunting/slaughtering animals.
Gender Identity/Pronouns: Man. He/Him.
Sexual Orientation: No sexual attraction.
Medical Record: Inexplicably, his blood poisons vampires and his soul poisons liches. Afflicted with a faunae's blessing (meaning animals cannot attack him). Otherwise a seemingly healthy, normal human...(?)
Other Trivia:
Isaac never formally attended school, and most of what he knows was sporadically taught to him by his crewmates. As a result, he's a rather poor reader and speller, and he's terrible at math.
He became fearful of sex after he was seduced and nearly murdered by a malicious nymph. He shows no interest in romance and prefers to be single.
Though he was raised by all of the Freelance Good Guys, he considers Evan his primary guardian.
He sometimes refers to Lukas as "mom" (much to Lukas' annoyance) and Alaine as "big sis". Glenvar occasionally calls him his "little brother".
He always carries small toys in his pockets to entertain himself and others.
He keeps his bedroom window open at night so wild animals can come in for warmth and food.

DBT + ACT helped me as well with managing the bipolar (just sent the last ask) + diving into philosophy and things in that realm (saw you mention stoicism as well).
honestly OCD is more of a nuisance than the bipolar thing at this point in time lmaoo (never got a chance to do ERP, maybe that would help w that)
art + physical activity!!!! despite my physical disabilities genuinely noticing myself going into an upswing and making myself MOVE that energy, dive into my art and SLEEP! no matter what, if that means taking sedative herbs (i am safe w that stuff), or even just laying in bed in the dark if sleep is just not happening. this is kind of a tangent, but yeah w bipolar circadian rhythm >>>
im so glad you found stuff that helps you! yeah i know shit like "trees are the best antidepressant" is said a lot by idiots but holistic therapies AS WELL AS actual therapy helped me immensely. the doctors admitted they pretty much just kept dosing me up to keep "you and everyone else safe" while I was on the waiting list. I liken my experience on that medication to a chemical lobotomy. my therapist referred me to a bushcraft course that was made specifically for people on the psychosis spectrum and it was sooooo nice and healing. I literally just went and sat in the forest and did shit like build fires and whittle and stuff. it was great. im glad psychiatry is catching on to the importance of green spaces. my husband is actually currently an assistant project manager for an initiative at his university about green space therapy for struggling students.
I've still not quite got the sleeping nailed down, im soooo glad you have because sleep is essential to maintaining a healthy lifestyle

🥑 ⇢ you accidentally killed somebody, which mutual(s) do you text for help?
lmao oh god....who volunteers to get my manslaughter confession in the inbox? If I need to skip town I'm coming to hang out with u in brazil
🔪 ⇢ what's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
Answered once below but man I am always opening tabs let's seeeee I did some actual bushcraft for no purpose other than writing about it, which is definitely weirdo behavior. Built a meat smoking rack out of sticks bc I've never done that before and wanted to see how hard it was. The funny thing is that I ended up scrapping the scene entirely

reiterating that jake’s transitioning into a lone survivalist was a slow-going process:
jake learned to build shelters and “bushcrafting” through trial and error. mostly self-taught, initially taking resources from various renovations to the park family’s houses and properties in order to build his own makeshift shelters. detailed in his “Woodworker” cosmetic: “Over the years, he dragged equipment out from his family's opulent renovations to work on his own project. [...] There was distinct satisfaction in sleeping in a shelter built from scratch. It was Jake's favorite way to unwind.”
jake has always been interested in the outdoors, but his family’s wealth and luxurious lifestyle was far removed from this particular fixation. his father was not supportive. unsettled by the way jake reminded sam park of his own missing father, strictly discouraging jake’s wanderlust.
jake “rejected his privilege and left everything behind to find himself,” according to his “Nonconformist” cosmetic. and lore from “The Stranger” cosmetic implies he started out by being a vagabond:
“On the road. Town to town. Yeah, it can be a hard life sometimes. What most people don't know, the journey IS the destination.”
his “Babyface” and “New Utopia” cosmetics also suggests he trained as a doomsday prepper:
“Be actively prepared for anything to go down and always ready for emergencies, disruptions or other deadly situations. Doomsday cometh!”
“Who needs the comforts of the modern world? Take on all challengers as a self-sufficient soldier of a new utopian society.”
he seemed to have learned skills from a prepper community. this experience most likely happened before jake decides to travel to south korea, backpacking through the country’s rural regions to meet the people his grandfather had saved. jake felt as if he could not return to his birthplace without the necessary skills to travel through yanggu county’s isolated areas bordering the demilitarized zone.
while a part of him wanted to connect with them and their concept of a fresh start, jake was not interested in the community’s ideologies, grifts or gimmicks. he was interested in the training, preparations for living off the grid. including homesteading, farming, hunting, basic emergency medical training, self-defense and handling firearms.
he spent two years learning the skills he needed; jake left the prepper community, and inevitably headed for the vast, fathomless wilderness. alone.
