And I think anyone trying to claim the people not seeing it do it in bad faith are adding to some harmful rhetorics I've been seeing a lot in the fandom. What they're doing by throwing accusations like those so easily is trivialising some very serious issues, whilst actively engaging in perpetuating those. Meaning, you cannot seriously tell me I am homophobic for not liking Buddie when in the same breath you're saying (with your whole chest, mind you) that Tommy Kinard, a canonically gay man (or Josh, also a canonically gay man), should be run over by a train. Look, to be very blunt here, I don't think 911 has written a single one of their pairings as being corroborated by the storyline. They've hit gold with Henren, Bathena, and Madney, and now with Bucktommy, but honestly? In all cases, it was a product of their luck in having actors that had insane chemistry together without the producers expecting it, in having actors advocating for their characters and the directions they wanted to take them in... I am not undermining the talent of the writers. There is only so much an actor can do without some good material. But I genuinely believe not a single couple of 911 was planned from the start (save Henren, because of obvious reasons), nor did they orchestrate the whole series to fit them.

Bucktommy are an anomaly (affectionate), in the way that, somehow, they fit so well, to the point that the red string theory was born. But we all know they were not planned from the start, and that Tim is probably still in shock at how hard he hit the jackpot with them.

So. For Buddie? Nothing indicates it was them from the start, and I think some small fun tidbits (like the elf in Season 2) that were done to joke around with the fans got taken too far. I'll just put in as simply as I can, I guess:

If the show wanted them to be endgame from the start, their growth would've gone perpendicular. Meaning - the actions of one would constantly be reflected in the other. Furthermore, if they were meant to be endgame, you know what we would've seen? Them acting like they do in fanfics.

Hot take, idc. But I mean it. Because in fanfics, back when I was reading Buddie, I maybe could see it (in the ones that didn't heavily mischaracterize them). A situation where they were fully supportive of each other, where they were each other's number 1 (Chris on a whole other league ofc), where their decisions were heavily influenced by each other, where they shared every big moment with each other.

But that is not what we got. And that is not what we have, for as much as they want to twist it that way.

And they made that even more obvious once Tommy came into play. Once they had Buck leaving his sister's wedding momentarily because he wanted to share that moment with Tommy (who, also, put Buck as his priority the second the emergency was over). Once they had Buck going home to his boyfriend in 710, instead of almost moving in with the Diazes to try to fix Eddie's mess. Once they showed us how Tommy takes care of him in a way no one else will, will put Buck as a priority even when they are not together (yet), will feel Buck's pain as if it were his own.

I feel like this got very long, and that my thoughts are all over the place lol. But to sum it up:

I do not think Buddie endgame is corroborated in the show, nor do I think it would be as amazing as they think it would be. Mostly because we've had Eddie looking about done with Buck several times this season (and in a no-cute way, I'll say), and mostly because after all they've done with Bucktommy, how significant they've made them so far? Yeah... I don't know if they could ever achieve that again without people thinking: Oh, but this is just a copy of Buck and Tommy. Meh.

I may have mentioned this phrase before, but I was introduced to "would anyone be swayed by further discussion" in college to put an end to debates where people simply would not agree and (in that case) to just put it to a vote or make the decision that was being discussed. The thing is, on the internet there's not the same impetus to wrap it up already because we're doing this all asynchronously and aren't actually people who need to work together in the first place, and so two differing opinions can endlessly sling mud without real consequence, and I think the discourse has reached the point of "you're stupid" "no you're stupid", and to be clear, I have participated heavily.

I don't actually mind if the discourse remains that way, for reasons that will become apparent in the course of this post, but here's what I propose: this isn't the kind of discussion that vagueing forever can solve. It requires actual back and forth with opportunities for requests for more information (eg: if I'm not understanding the themes of this campaign, what are they, in your own words, and how are they being demonstrated throughout the course of the campaign) and a cessation of ad hominems and at least the appearance of an assumption of good faith on both sides.

Here is the other thing, though: it is my hypothesis that most people posting about why they don't like Campaign 3 are in earnest: they don't like Campaign 3, they are articulating why (perhaps imperfectly! perhaps even incorrectly, in your eyes), and that's that. I think the people complaining about those people, ultimately, are mad that their personal preferences aren't shared by all. Or, to descend back into the mud for a moment: I think when I call you an idiot it hurts your feelings, and when you call me an idiot I say "Likely thing for an idiot to do." I think if the discourse continues, anyone who dislikes Campaign 3 will keep posting and say "wow it's a little annoying that people keep complaining about me expressing my opinion but them's the breaks, I know what I'm about" and the people complaining about those posts are simply going to feel worse and worse, no matter how much they yell about the other side's stupidity, because what they really want is agreement and validation. In other words, there's a pretty clear advantage, because one side doesn't rely on the good opinion or really any actions of the other. Or in the words of what I consider to be a far superior campaign, you need me more than I need you.

So with that in mind. I didn't read all of this because it hurt my head. I actually do not agree with the premise that Azula is incapable of kindness, but the person in the screenshots was replying to a post that tried to argue that Azula is actually a good person, and the only reason people consider her bad is due to protagonist-centered morality, which is 1) blatantly, ridiculously false, and 2) not how protagonist-centered morality actually works.

I'm not interested in the argument about whether Azula is inherently evil or incapable of redemption, because of course she isn't inherently evil and anyone is capable of redemption, but she is a sadist, and this is a problem that people cannot wash away with "well she was just following orders," and it kinda floors me that people would spout this kind of garbage and then claim that they know what they're talking about because they (allegedly) are from a colonized country or have themselves suffered abuse. I'm not saying those claims are not true but like. This is not the argument you should be making if you claim to understand colonialism or abuse. It just isn't. I'm not saying their life experience didn't happen, but just because you experienced something does not mean you always understand it, and these arguments do not speak of understanding. With abuse, in particular, a lot of people don't have the clarity to understand unless they've been through therapy, which is one of the reasons abuse victims who do not get help are at risk of becoming abusers. This very closely describes Azula, whose abuser encouraged her worst traits.

And like, the thing about colonialism is that it encourages and enables people who already have sadistic tendencies. Whether or not Azula was born with those or if they were instilled by Ozai is not an argument I am interested in, but he certainly encouraged them and that is one of the reasons she thrived under a colonialist regime. Zuko and Iroh also could have easily developed these tendencies, although we do see that even when they still believe in the FN, they do have much more of a tendency towards kindness. This is canon.

What makes the real difference, though, is that they stopped believing in and supporting colonialism, and Azula did not. They drew on and expanded upon the more empathetic sides of themselves and became changed people. That is the real difference between Zuko and Iroh vs Azula, and it makes all the difference.

And I'm absolutely not here for garbage takes about how Zuko and Iroh were not nice enough to Azula when she came to them for the express purpose of lying to and imprisoning them. If you really want to speak for victims of colonialism or abuse, you really need to stop with that very obvious victim-blaming argument and like, think before you type.

The last thing I will say is that it's funny that these people always paint Zuko as having an inferiority complex when Azula's is a mile wide and a major part of what brings about her downfall.

been thinking about my sweet prince henry all day bc of this fic i have planned and. i just keep thinking about how one of the reasons he tells alex it has to casual is because he sees himself as an issue. he sees himself and his mere existence as a gay man as a problem. and then he sort of starts to forget to feel that way until zahra catches them.

i know it's a funny scene but i think she really fucked with his head. he flies over to see alex because in their emails alex has told him he is afraid he's letting his mother down, that he isn't good enough etc and the dnc is a big deal and he wants to support the man he loves, the man he has always loved. so he has this amazing night with alex, and they're so so so happy then he gets literally shoved into a closet and yelled at by zahra who essentially confirms that he is a problem and a threat to ellen's reelection, right? then there's the climax of him telling alex that he won't trade on prison (the crown) for another (politics) because he knows how much making a difference matters to alex, he knows that alex does is important and he thinks it's amazing and he cannot in good faith get in the way of that. this is why when alex steps in at the airstrip he freezes and says, "go win an election." the obvious visual here is that they cannot kiss because if they did it would cost ellen the election, or this is what henry feels. and alex respects that and treats it with complete understanding.

on top of that you add the layer that he feels completely useless. nothing the royal family does matters and he knows that, and he has such little freedom which is showcased by alex's disbelief at the fact that henry isn't allowed to vote. and this is all why the ending works, because while being outed as they were is genuinely horrific henry was genuinely SHOCKED that there would be thousands of people supporting him. he genuinely thought he would be locked up somewhere, he thought the entire county - TWO entire countries - hated him, but that isn't the case at all. but what gets me the most is alex's speech sort of being a life raft to henry, because alex knows what henry is afraid of, he knows what the royals will attempt to do and he stops it in it's tracks. he says, YES henry and i are together before the royals can say it was a smear campaign! more importantly, he is actively choosing henry over the election, even over his own future as a possible politician as well.

yes, this is a fairy tale and they live happily ever after and ellen wins etc more to say etc but i feel like matthew did such a great job tying it down to reality on screen and having what henry is feeling in the book be showcased by his behavior and body language ouughhhh ACADEMY AWARD

More often than not it is essentially just shouting ‘debate me bro’ from the rooftops in a bid for attention, those people are not worth your time. Other times it’s about taking part in this bizarre group soothing exercise where tumblr ‘leftists’ pat each other on the back and reassure one another that supporting the exploitation of sentient beings for profit is totally in line with progressive values, actually. These usually prove to be enormously popular, for obvious reasons.

There are a few who are actual shills, either they’re animal agriculture students, have family in the industry or they’re involved themselves. Unfortunately and for reasons I cannot fathom, these people are believed with zero sources seemingly precisely because they have a vested interest, as if this makes them a reliable expert despite the obvious profit incentive involved.

There is no space for vegan discourse you’ll find that isn’t infested by people who feel challenged by it and therefore feel the need to shout out the same tired old arguments, unfortunately. You can’t even look up a vegan recipe without seeing it in the comments section. Quite a lot of them on Tunblr are the same few anti-vegan time wasters though, so you will see these take much less if you block them.

I haven't watched the barbie movie and don't really plan to, I just have a problem with some arguments people have been making in its defense, as they are weak arguments regardless of what piece of media they're defending. specifically it's the "this is just feminism 101 for kids, it doesn't have to be a whole manifesto!" type of dismissive arguments.

first of all, if a movie is marketed as feminist and the fanbase praises it for its feminism, people who go see it will have certain expectations based on their own idea of feminism, since feminism is an umbrella term for different ideologies whose common trait is that they want rights for women. who counts as a woman, what specific rights they should have and how we should get them are all points of contention, without even getting into intersecrionality just yet. (very broad generalization, also some leftist feminists disagree with the 'rights' framing) there's only so many grains of sslt you can take, before you decide this is just too far away from what it was presented as and clearly, many women feel this way about the movie.

second of all, regardless of how a piece of media is marketed, it is always fair game for critism, whether that be from a feminist perspective, an anti-racism perspective, a leftist perspective or whatever else you can come up with. to demand that people simply not bring up these critiques because it's ruining people's fun or it's not that serious (but still serious enough that you call people misogynists for criticizing it?) is blatantly reactionary. it's the same thing angry geek boys do when you point out their funny little sci-fi and fantasy shows have weirdly few POC in them. you can say a criticism is in bad faith or based on a misreading of the text (I've seen this about the gynecologist scene, for example), sure, but what I'm seeing more commonly is just a total dismissal of these critiques and perspectives, as if the movie simply isn't subject to it for whatever reason.

expounding upon this, the "feminism 101" part of the argument is similarly reactionary. to reiterate what i said in my last reblog about this, the way people talk about this movie gives me the impression that it's way more suited to the ~2012-2014 pre-gamergate era of tumblr feminism, when people said stuff like "eyeliner so sharp it could kill a man" and feminist criticism was treated as more of a checklist of good and bad tropes. we're almost a decade past that era, with many events that changed the political and pop cultural landscape in the meantime, so what was passable back then might not be such now. we've talked extensively about intersecrionality, issues of race have been brought up time and time again, especially in light of the BLM movement and anti-Asian racism in the COVID era, queer issues have also been gaining more and more traction, etc etc, I can't and won't recap the last decade of political development. my point is, if you're a feminist in 2023 (or any other type of left-leaning politically active individual, but the barbie discourse is about feminism, so that's what I'm talking about specifically) you cannot simply ignore these issues and say multiply marginalized women will have their time, but they need to wait for the privileged women to go first. actually, it was always unacceptable to demand marginalized women support more privileged women while getting nothing in return, but it's even more obvious and ignorant in the current era, after we've been trying to make people understand intersecrionality for years.

it's also insidious how the implication is that feminism needs to be dumbed down for kids (a dubious claim in the first place) and for some reason, that dumbing down involves flattening everything to being about the most privileged women possible. why shouldn't young privileged girls learn about the issues that face their less privileged peers face? why should girls of marginalized groups have to sit and listen about the issues facing their privileged peers, but never being given the tools to discuss their own issues? whom does this dynamic serve exactly and why is it not only acceptable to continue to exist, but it also important to so vehemently defend?

I'm not trying to tell people not to like the barbie movie, that's really not what I care about. I'm saying the types of arguments being made reveal a failure of intersectionality and a dismissal of multiply marginalized women's issues, coupled with a self-centeredness which should be unacceptable to any serious feminist. stop making excuses for a hollywood blockbuster funded by a multi-billion(!!) dollar toy company and start giving a shit about the women in need right in front of you!

So, if you are telling me the truth (and are not mistaken) then if you have contact with that server you should warn them that whoever is doing this is using their name to do it.

However Cass, because you have come to me with no proof and I cannot access these other servers either (assuming that they would not let me in for obvious reasons) I cannot take your word at total face value. There comes a time when we need to either level our playing ground or change the playing field, increase in altitude, and see differently from everyone else.

Consider the eagle and its ability to soar at high altitudes; changing its playing field to achieve its goal is an ability the Lord instilled in all believers. By His word, we too can change our playing field. Attitude determines altitude! We cannot occupy a position we are not ready, trained, or have a vision for. According to God’s question in Jeremiah 1:11, it’s what and how we see that determines how high we go.

Some fields are so saturated that there isn’t any room for us to rise, but we insist on remaining in such fields for personal reasons, even when the Lord tells us to level up. According to our text, a fool is not recognized as a fool because he walks in the company of the wise; this is what I call “camouflage,” using people and things around one to conceal inadequacies. These inadequacies become obvious when they walk alone.

But God didn’t create us to feel inadequate in life. As He says in Philippians 3:13, our ability is of Christ and not ours, so we need not go to any length to fool people into believing that we are something we aren’t. In several passages of the Bible, such as in 1 Kings 20:23, the Arameans acknowledged that changing their playing field might help them defeat the Israeli army. An army with high ground usually wins! The phrase “the high ground” describes a person who has a significant advantage over their opponents. Conversely, a level playing field gives everyone an equal and fair chance.

Some of us need to change the playing field in our jobs, careers, neighbourhoods, and even churches. The average mentality is that if something is not broken, why fix it? But what if it’s not working? What do you do? Many of us need an attitude adjustment to reach our altitude. Until we begin to behave appropriately, we can’t access the altitude we’re aiming for.

Psalm 75:5 declares, “Do not lift your horn,” and goes further to tell us that lifting, promotion, elevation, or altitude does not come from our efforts, from man, or from anywhere but the Lord. The Lord, in His faithful goodness, will elevate us to the altitude pre-ordained for us when we’ve met all the spiritual requirements. When our character, behaviour, and attitude align with His word, purpose, and will for us, we will rise.

Ephesians 4:23 prescribes that we need an attitude adjustment if we are to start soaring high and not remain on the ground like chickens, feeding on leftovers instead of the sumptuous meal the Lord has prepared for us where He wants us to rise to. Fear keeps us grounded and stops us from attempting to change our field even when we know we need to.

If the people we hang out with don’t speak inspirational, motivational, and supportive words to us, why stay around them? We can only go so far, even with the Lord, if the people around us sabotage and upstage us. We need the 1 Thessalonians 5:11 people around us, mixed with the word of faith and the strength of the Lord, to change our playing field and soar like the eagle. The world we live in is not God’s world, therefore it cannot last. We, as God’s people, must remember God is with us in everything we do.

The eagle takes its prey out of their comfort zone to defeat them. Changing the playing field is vital to our increase and promotion, so level up!

PRAYER: Dear Lord, grant me the grace to always use the advantage of Your word to access every playing field and to change it, if necessary, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

"The Squill." From Surah Seven, Al Araf, "The Heights."

7:64-69:

We have learned during our Pre-Ramadan Flight Path that the name of Allah means "to measure the goodness of God." The First Seat, which means "shoulder to shoulder with God" is the Highest of the Heights of measurements one can aspire to.

In order to make any kind of ascent to the Heights possible, God gave us the Torah which states there are Six Days and an unlikely Seventh called Eid al Fitr in Arabic, "The Festival for the Breaking of the Fast" called Shabbat in Hebrew.

Ramadan "the scorching" which consists of forty days in the desert is the same in every religion. The actual transformation modeled during the forty days is supposed to be the same as the Forty Years during which Moses and Aaron hauled the Israelites into the Zin after they were freed from Egypt in order to finally get them to think for themselves and become a lasting, impregnable nation.

Like the Israelites, Muslims have never quite completed the journey through the Zin, "the place of the sunrise the place of realizations."

The noun צאן (so'n) describes a flock of small animals like sheep or goats, which proverbially wanders about and disperses during times of carefree ease.

The verb יצא (yasa') describes a divergent motion: to go out or go forth. Noun צאצא (se'esa) means offspring or produce. Noun מוצא (mosa') denotes a place, agent or act of going out: a going forth, an utterance, a source or spring of water, a place of departure, a mine. It's also the word for sunrise. The similar noun מוצאה (mosa'a) means latrine. Noun תוצאה (tosa'a) denotes a full collection of whatever goings-out.

I have personally never met a Muslim practitioner that did not impress me or love me with all their hearts. I have been blessed many times by the strength of the devotion no other at the time could possibly have shown me, and there is no greater testimony to the faith than persons such as these. But even still, the world is unconvinced. It remains afraid of Muslims, and Muslims are deeply afraid of themselves. The world appears to think it has few options for the problem of Islam.

Islam is not the problem, Muslims are not the problem. The problem is this thing called Zin, which has the opposite meaning of "being in the latrine" as opposed to "on the way to Paradise."

I have proposed a number of ways the world can choose to benefit from reading the Quran and pressing forward into the Zin. These include a global state of unity regarding American politics. The Republican Party is a vile thing and it cannot continue. America must, like the rest follow the UN Declaration of Human Rights and finally acknolwedge the fact it has a Constitution that is not subject to the whims of religion.

Israel must become one scared place capable like the rest of supporting its citizens well beyond aid packages and occasional temporary ceasefires.

The world has been staunchly opposed to this but God gave humankind a promise, that the unity within Israel would signal unity for the rest and this promise must be kept. No one will be harmed during the constitution of Israel and Palestine, there are no reasons to resist this logical approach.

Nothing in Palestine will change, it can remain its own jurisdiction and choose its own representatives to the Israeli Parliament, and continue to look, feel, and motivate its people in ways they are accustomed. Federalizing Palestine will give its citizens access to income, free education, free health care, opportunities to travel and see the world, rear families without fear, and contribute their voices to global affairs.

All resistance to a single-state Israel must stop, all the fighting must stop and peace must emerge from the process of Zin this Holy Season, it is obvious from our study of the Quran this is what God wants.

The climb to the Heights continues with an additional installment of commentaries on the story of Noah and the Great Flood. Noah means "respite" it also means "to plunge down, to drown."

Ad and Hud mean "until the Message is received", a perfect theme for Ramadan at a time we are being bombed by hot water balloons filled with bullshit by the enemies of mankind.

The squill, a kind of iris lily, is the symbol of the House of David. The same series of Hebrew letters equates to a "stonecutter" which is always Moses, or water, meaning the direct experience of the water of sentience, which irrigates the mind through the study of religion is the target of the study of religion.

The Quran was written to help Arabs keep up with a world that was being changed by water of the the Torah and the Gospels and in many cases it did help. We have not seen a great leap in the human capacity for sentience in a long time, perhaps we are measuring the wrong things, but the onset of a Third World War is not a sign we are evolving further than ever before.

The final verse of my New Six Days binds the others altogether. First is North, what is unknown, East is the Age of Reason, South is Understanding, West is Enlightenment, the end of all uncivilized thoughts, desires, and actions.

The Values in Gematria for the Years of the Reign of the Judges are:

The unused verb זאב (za'ab) probably meant to despise, frighten and drive away (it does so in other languages). So, we all know the dsmp fandom, especially on twitter, has a bit of a problem with leaktwt and often lots of controversy springing from stuff obtained by kiwifarms. I'd like to talk about this, because it's been pissing me off for months and it's getting ridiculous.

Please stop trusting information like this, or at the very least be cautious with how you interact with it, take it with a large grain of salt or maybe even a handful, don't take it at fucking face value and consider to yourself: why did they obtain this information and how did they obtain it.

Especially the how, because I've noticed the amount of illegally obtained data, from information unobtainable without some form of hacking to a lot of cases of spear phishing. Spear phishing, for those who don't know, is a targeted form of phishing against a specific person; phishing is often described as trying to obtain personal or sensitive information, and here the definition is applicable as digging through years worth of information otherwise inaccessible to the average user without purposefully searching everywhere for it, specifically information from or about a specific person.

This happens a lot, we see many cases, from the people who keep doxxing ccs, to the more recent things with certain information from Steam about Wilbur being made public despite the fact it's inaccessible without some sort of digging or manipulation, and now with (I believe, idk i've not really been looking at it for obvious reasons) the whole Tubbo thing and I believe that was leaked private messages of a friend, I could be wrong there. Either way, there's been so many cases of doxxing, leaked private messages, information inaccessible on the front end of things and it's getting to a genuinely worrying point.

And this isn't because I care about content creators, but I do care about upholding data privacy. Yes, even if they've said shit in the past, please don't go digging and digging because that does fall into spear phishing, and at the end of the day it is very dubiously legal at best. This is something we're taught about in fucking cyber security courses, for even further perspective on how bad it is. Not to mention, often this information is dug up by infamous leaktwt or kiwifarms, which are pretty known for bad faith digging up of shit.

These people dig it up for clout, they dig it up for attention, they do not care who gets fucking hurt and often bringing up old shit is going to harm more people than it fucking helps. It's even worse when you try to hold someone accountable for something someone else did, especially years in the past like it's their fault.

Just, please, stop supporting this, stop circulating this shit like morning gossip, because you're not only hurting people for no good reason, it's also often spreading illegally obtained information from people who commit cybercrimes on the regular. It breaks data protection laws, it breaks someone's fucking privacy.

Data privacy is important, it affects everyone, and even the worst people deserve to keep it. Sure, law enforcement and courts might be able to obtain this stuff, but you're not law enforcement nor a court and you're not entitled to personal data whenever.

I cannot stress enough that I fundamentally distrust callout posts, and I will distrust you if you send them to me.

Don't get me wrong: I investigate warnings, and I act on them if they're true and relevant. But callout posts are, on a very fundamental level, not about what people say they're about. There are exceptions, but generally speaking they're made for one or more of the following reasons:

OP didn't like the subject to begin with (often for bigoted reasons), and they wanted a reason, and a following, to justify and validate that.

OP wanted to gain popularity, so they made themselves look like either a victim, a hero, or both.

OP wanted to claim victim status in a private falling-out in order to preserve good standing with their own friends/their community.

OP didn't like what the subject was saying, and wanted to silence them (often for bigoted reasons).

OP genuinely just wants "revenge" on the subject, or otherwise wants to ruin their reputation and have them sent harassment.

Again, there are exceptions: there are "callouts" that just unravel a subject's lies, or point out problems in already public actions. If OP is claiming to have been personally victimized in a legitimately serious way, and especially one that indicates the subject might be a danger to others, I'm definitely more willing to believe it- one obvious example being sexual violence.

But oftentimes, callouts are incredibly personal, misleading, emotionally manipulative, blatantly untrue, or all of the above.

This person came to me on anon; I have absolutely no way of knowing what their motives are or how trustworthy they are. There is no credibility or accountability here.

And I did read the post. Lo and behold, it's riddled with emotionally manipulative language, false accusations, and the biggest reaches I've ever seen:

Are the accusations you're making something you have personally investigated and found to be true?
