Thinking of a sentient Gotham AU where she makes Bruce her champion and stuff, and it basically makes B immortal until his mission is complete. Until Gotham is rid of corruption and it's the utopia that B dreams of making it, he's not going to die.

Like, he stopped aging in his mid thirties and no damage done to him is permanent. Bane breaking his back? Gotham healed it up good as new, every time he SHOULD die? He doesn't.

This can go one of two ways with the Batfam:

1) His children are unaffected by his mission and he has to watch them grow old and die.

2) Gotham extends her claim onto his children as well and they are also unable to die.

I prefer option 1 but what do you think?

i like the idea that like. bruce is constantly grappling with the fact that he's been granted immortality but his loved ones have not. he kind of hates himself for it, honestly. he feels it whenever robin!dick gets injured but never more than that time dick got shot, when he fired him. in this little au, bruce fires him because (in his mind) dick has seen him defy death one too many times and now acts like he can do the same. but he can't. he can die. he will die. but the longer dick is around bruce, the more dick acts like he's invincible. this is not the case, of course - bruce is just projecting. but he thinks, in this desperate attempt to save dick, that if dick stops working with somebody who cannot die, he'll stop acting like he also can't.

but then comes jason. and bruce tells himself that this time will be different. he won't tell jason that he can't die. he won't act like he can't die. this time will be different and jason won't get hurt and everything will be fine and suddenly they're in ethiopia and there's a warehouse and a clown and a boy who knew he could die but who just wanted to save his mother and--

and bruce is constantly grappling with the fact that he's been granted immortality but his loved ones have not. he really hates himself for it, honestly. he hates gotham for it too. why would she give him this blessing and turn it into a curse? why wouldn't she help his children, the people he loves?

gotham may not grant his children immortality, but bruce will. bruce will dig down as deep as he can, tug on strings he didn't know existed, feel the black sludge of magic in his veins and cast it out into the world and it will find his children if bruce has to guide it there himself. gotham fights back, throws everything she has into stopping him, but bruce is too strong, too determined. gotham cannot stop him when he knows her streets better than the endless corridors of his own home.

then something gives. he feels the magic being shared. and he knows, with absolute certainty, that all of his children, past, present and future, will be safe. they will not die.

bruce can now, though. bruce can die. but his children can't, and so bruce is okay with this. because somewhere out there, eyes he thought would stay closed forever have just burst wide open.

I know a lot of people were upset about not getting a Wintake kiss or a hug or whatever at the end of s3 ep8, but honestly as someone who identifies with Miranda a slightly concerning amount, the hand nuzzle and the shoulder bump were actually so much more special in my opinion.

We know Miranda hates hugs, and she’s unlikely to initiate one — she’s more comfortable with physical touch now, particularly with Max, but she’s still not at that point yet. So if Max had put his arm around her at the end, he would’ve been completely ignoring her boundaries and comfort levels (which are likely even more important to her than usual, given the severe trauma she’s just been through) just so he could show affection in a “typical” way.

Instead, he lets Miranda guide the whole interaction, allowing her to show her feelings and how much she cares in whatever way she’s most comfortable with in that moment. He doesn’t push for the hug I’m sure he instinctively wanted to give her, because he’s listening to her and respecting her boundaries around physical touch. And this shows in the way Miranda interacts with him; it means she actually feels safe enough to push through her own boundaries to some extent, because she knows he won’t make her go any further than she’s comfortable with.

It’s this trust and respect that lets Miranda be so open in that final scene. She apologises for her part in their argument, which is an absolutely huge thing in itself given how much she hates admitting she was wrong (and really struggles to do so). She opens up about her feelings, and how she’s realised how important he is to her. She allows herself to be vulnerable and to cry in front of him, which, again, is an absolutely massive thing for her. And she gives him the physical affection of the hand nuzzle and the shoulder bump — something she previously would’ve baulked at in such an emotional moment

It‘s late.

The room is dimly lit, the only light that was offered being the few shroomlights that were hanging around the bunker.

The room is quiet, followed by the soft rustling of feathers every time he brushed his fingers ever so carefully through the black and tattered wings.

A yawn escapes him and he momentarily stops his movement.

Etoiles is angry tired.

His eyes glance down at the soothing weight against his legs, watching the smallest of movements every time the curled up figure took a breath.

Phil is still here exhausted, and passed out.

His head rests on one of Etoiles‘ legs, arms curled around himself and a blanket barely draped over his resting figure.

The floor wasn‘t the most comfortable to sleep on, but Etoiles didn‘t want to move and wake Phil up on accident either. He deserved at least some kind of rest because he‘s sure the Federation didn‘t even give him that. Sick assholes.

The screen from his communicator lights up and his attention wanders to the whispered message.

FitMC whispers to you: Wdym he wanted to go back?

He blinks.

He thinks back to earlier that evening, sun setting and his return to the spawn area. Etoiles knew that Phil had a tendency to stay up late, so visiting him in a couple of hours was not a problem.

He briefly wonders what would‘ve happened if he hadn‘t seen Phils heavy steps in the distance, directing his pathway to one of the buildings constructed by the Federation.

Etoiles sighs and goes to message Fit back, mentioning his encounter with Phil insisting on walking back there and waiting until they take him back in.

He doesn‘t mention the way Phil was not even listening to reason at that moment, or the way he kept mumbling about how imperfect he is and insisted on being fixed, or the way Phils eyes didn‘t have this light in them anymore and how out of it he was, or still is.

He‘s seen Phil laugh and chuckle in amusement, yell and scream and shout in anger, but seeing a fellow fighter he looked up to, his own friend so.. broken down like this. Gods, it stung.

Phil moves a little in his sleep and pulls Etoiles out of his thoughts. He sighs and after a few seconds pass by, Etoiles’ hand goes back to brushing through the feathers.

He wasn‘t sure if he was doing it to distract himself from his anger or if he was attempting to subconsciously soothe the asleep avian, but he knew one thing for sure:

He wasn’t going to let them take Phil back again.

Highly unlikely 😅 (I mean sure they can jet set to Seoul soon after Taipei but they have an upcoming schedule on for THK launch and well, doing a back to back trip from Busan-Bangkok-Taipei and now Seoul? - that sounds like torture to their sleep schedule and body 🙃)

I honestly can’t tell where the pictures were taken from - the recent trip from Busan? Or maybe from Taipei itself? And for all we know it’s a spot in Bangkok
