As of today my beloved friend C has been gone for two years. I'm starting to understand what people mean when they say that it will never get better, but it gets a little easier.
Anyways, found this old pic from 2021. I ended up streaming the entire Mass Effect series for C at some point, and she liked it so much she got the games when the remakes were released. I made her this picture the day she finished the third and last game. Say hello to our Shepards Ethan and Alex.
Figured that I might post this here instead of having it rot in one of my folders. It's a nice memory.

So, to prepare for LGBTQ+ Shepards week, I’m going to refamilarize myself with my LGBTQ+ Shepards, and maybe some of you will even enjoy reading about this as well, who knows. (Just to get all of them out here, I will also be posting about my straight cisgender Shepard but she won’t be tagged with any LGBTQ+ Shepard week tags) So, this is Ethan, my first protagonist in any non-Sims video game, ever and a proud pansexual. I’ve posted a brief bio before, but he’s changed since then.
Ethan has spent almost his entire life in space, only living planet-side for the first few months of his life in Montreal, while his parents were on leave. His mother, Hannah Shepard, was a hardworking marine who thrived in leadership roles, a characteristic she passed onto her only child. His father, Isaac Shepard, was an all around tech specialist who filled gaps on whichever ship he served on, from the engineering corps, to navigation, and even to special ops infiltration teams. Ethan’s parents separated when he was 9 due to disagreements on how to raise him. Only a few days after being reassigned to serve aboard a new ship, Isaac died in action after the ship was boarded by pirates. As a kid, Ethan was well known by all of his mother’s crewmates and always found himself fascinated by the engineers and the workings of the ships his mother served on.
In school he excelled at science and math, as well as music. He enlisted in the miltary as soon as he graduated to pursue a career as a member of the Alliance Engineering Corps. While on shore leave in Elysium, visiting a man he had met on Arcturus Station, the Batarians attacked. Ethan effectively saved the colony by holding the invaders off until reinforcements arrived.
In 2183, he briefly pursued a relationship with Dr. Liara T’Soni, though he later admitted it was a grief-driven response to losing one of his closest friends, Gunnery Chief Ashley Williams, during the assault on Saren Arterius’ base on Virmire. When he came back from the dead in 2185, he and Liara decided not to rekindle their relationship. After his run-in with then Commander Kaidan Alenko, Ethan was thrown for a loop and found himself unable to focus on the flirtations he had begun with Miranda Lawson. He directed his attention entirely to his suicide mission, expecting a one-way trip. When he and Kaidan met again in 2186, Ethan was determined to repair their friendship and hopefully quell the gut-twisting pain he felt at the thought of the Major. It wasn’t until Kaidan mentioned the possibility of a relationship between the two that Ethan even realized he had been in love with him for over a year. To end the war between the sapient species of the Milky Way and the Reapers, Ethan chose to destroy all Reaper encoded synthetic beings. Ethan barely survived the resulting explosion, being found by a search and rescue team 3 days later. Ethan spent 2 years in intensive physiotherapy regaining movement in his legs and acquainting himself with a prosthetic arm. Kaidan and Ethan married on Armistice Day in 2189 in memory of Ashley and settled down with 2 dogs and 3 children, all orphaned by the war. Both veterans retired from the Alliance shortly after and were immediately poached by Jon Grissom Academy to teach engineering and biotics. Ethan would only teach for a few years before being selected as the new human councillor, splitting his time between his apartment on the citadel, Kaidan’s apartment in Grissom Academy, and their beachfront home on the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia.

That’s My Girlfriend!
Ethan Dolan X Reader
Reader visits home with Ethan and her dog doesn’t like him/is jealous of him.
“Are we there yet?” “Almost, E. Just be patient,” you told your boyfriend of several months. Who is your boyfriend, you may ask. Well it is none other than Ethan Dolan, one part of the popular Youtube group, the Dolan Twins. Currently, you and Ethan were traveling to visit your parents. This would the first time Ethan would met them, so Ethan was a bit worried. You weren’t as worried as him, a bit nervous, sure, but you were trying to look on the bright side. Ethan would finally be able to see your childhood home and the town you grew up in.
You were driving the rental car to your home, and just pulled into your street, when Ethan, yet again, asked “Are we there yet?” “Wait a moment ... and, here we are,” you said as you pulled into the driveway. Parking the car in the front, you were the first to hop out of the car, excited to see your family face-to-face instead of through a phone or computer screen. Ethan chuckled at your excited nature, wrapping an arm around your waist and kissing the top of your head. “Come one, babe, let’s meet your parents,” he said.
The two of you walked up to the front door, Ethan’s arm still around your waist. You were just about to knock on the door, when it quickly swung open. It revealed your mother, a giant smile on her face and joy in her (e/c) eyes at the sight of you. “(Y/n)!” your mother exclaimed. “Mom!” You were quickly caught up in a hug, completely enveloped into her arms, the familiar smell of her perfume filling your senses. Your mother eventually pulled away, immediately starting to yammer away. “I thought that was you! I heard your car and looked out the window just be sure! I’m so happy your home!” she said, leaving kisses on your cheeks and forehead.
“Mom, please, you are embarrassing me,” you complained, a blush on your cheeks. It was then that your mother realized you weren’t alone, her eyes widening when she saw Ethan. “Oh, who is this young man? You didn’t tell me you would bring company,” she said, leaving you to now pester your boyfriend. “My name’s Ethan, ma’am. It's a pleasure to meet you,” Ethan said, sticking his hand out for a handshake. “Oh, so you’re Ethan! It's so nice to finally meet you!” your mother said and caught the unsuspecting male in a hug. You giggled as your mother practically squeezed the life out him, despite your mother being (much/slightly) shorter and not as muscly as Ethan.
“Honey, who is at the door?” you heard your father say from somewhere in the house. Said man appeared, his (e/c) eyes eyeing your mother squeezing the life of your boyfriend, before they stopped on you. A smile broke out on his face when he saw you, his loving daughter. “(Nickname), there you are! Your mother and I have been waiting for you to finally come visit us,” he said, calmly making his way towards you. You met him halfway, immediately wrapping your arms around him in a hug. Your father returned your hug, quite tightly might I add. “Did you miss me, dad?” you asked, separating slightly so you weren’t chest to chest. “Of course, I did. Though not as much as ...”
Your father was abruptly cut off; something big and furry running then jumping on both of you. The force caused you to stumble back, out of your father’s arms, as a long wet tongue attacked your face. “Jakey!” you exclaimed, shocked yet happy to see your beloved dog. The German Shepherd continued his attack of affections, despite you obviously struggling with holding the canine’s heavy frame as he stood on his back paws. “Jake, get down!” your father commanded, voice stern. Jake listened to him, removing his front paws from your shoulders, returning to his normal four legged position. “Are you alright?” Ethan asked, hurrying over to you and scouring your face for any injuries. “I’m alright. Just got the wind knocked out of me,” you said, trying to regain your breath from your dog’s impromptu makeout session.
“Oh, dear. Let me get you some wet wipes, darling,” your mother said, before quickly rushing off to the bathroom for said wipes. “Jake, you know by now you can’t jump on people,” your father scolded Jake. The black and tan furred shepard whined, ears flattening against his head, showing he knew he did wrong. “It’s okay, Jake. I still love you, just don’t do that again,” you told your dog, petting him as he kneeled at your feet. He smiled with an open mouth, leaning into your touch. Your mother came back with some wet wipes at that moment, which you gladly took and wiped your face with after thanking her.
“Thank goodness I didn’t wear that much makeup. I had a feeling this would happen,” you joked lightheartedly. “I didn’t know you had a dog,” Ethan said, bending down to pet said canine. Jake turned his head around and grabbed Ethan’s hand with his mouth, nibbling and suckling on his thick fingers. “Ow!” Ethan exclaimed in pain, pulling his hand away after a moment when Jake suddenly chomped down on his hand. “He bit me!” “Jake!” you yelled at the pupper. “He bit really hard. Why did he do that? Look, he made an indent in my skin with his back teeth!” Ethan exclaimed, showing you where Jake bit him. Like Ethan said, there was a huge indent from Jake’s teeth on the side of his hand, the skin around it red from the bite.
“I’m so sorry, Ethan. He’s still a puppy and is still teething. Did he break any skin? Do you need an ice pack?” you worried, over his hand. “I think I’m okay. I’m not bleeding or anything.” “I still feel bad. I brought you here to meet my parents, not to get attacked by an eighty-pound fur ball,” you joked. Ethan just laughed and gave a reassuring kiss on your forehead. Your mother returned from the kitchen, a platter of crackers and cheeses in one hand and a plate full of cucumber, mini carrots, and tiny celery. “Let’s sit down and talk over a slice of pepperoni and cheese slices. There is so much I want to ask about,” she beamed. You and Ethan moved towards the family room, sitting down on the plush polyester couch.
You guys talk as you picked over the finger food, occasionally having to push Jake away from the coffee table when he tried to sneakily grab a piece. Everything was going well, your mother loved Ethan and your father bonded with Ethan over guy things. Of course Ethan avoided the cheese and meat, but stocked up on the mini vegetables, crackers, and potato chips. An hour into your visit, your mother got up from the coach. “I’m going to put the chicken in oven now and start the sides. (Your father’s name), will you open a bottle of wine for our guests?” she told you and Ethan. “I’ll pass on having a glass, Mrs. (last name). I plan on driving us back tonight,” Ethan warned. He omitted that he's wasn’t old enough to drink yet, a probably a good move on his part.
Your father just nodded and smiled, glad that he was a responsible man. Your parents left you two alone, taking their small empty paper plates with them. You laid your head on Ethan’s shoulder, closing your eyes in bliss. “Tired already?” Ethan teased, wrapping his thick arms around your waist and bringing you closer to him. “No. I’m just glad everything is going so well. My parents have really taken a liking towards you,” you replied, feeling blissful and at peace. “I know. Everything I was worried about on the way here ... the bad thoughts .. they’re all gone,” Ethan told you, his hazel eyes gazing lovingly into your (e/c) orbs. “I told you there was nothing to worry about. You should listen to me more often,” you teased, placing a few light kisses against the underside of his jaw. “Oh, really?” “Really.”
Your arms wrapped around his neck, fingers playing with the soft hairs at the nape of it, your faces slowly inching towards each other, closing the distance as you went to kiss each other. The romantic moment was ruined by a certain German Shepherd puppy. Jake jumped onto you guys, front paws pushing on Ethan’s chest and separating him from you, the 80 something pound dog whining in your ear as his bulky body blocked you from your boyfriend. “Jake!” you yelled, frustrated at the shepherd for preventing you from loving your boyfriend. “Bad dog! Shoo!” Ethan sternly reprimanded your pet. Jake ignored him, climbing onto the coach, literally laying on your lap, leaning all of his body weight onto you and pinning you to the coach. His long snouted face was directed towards Ethan, his brown eyes glaring at your boyfriend. You were unable to push Jake off of you, the young canine purposely resisting your feeble attempts to get him off of you.
“Ethan, help,” you gasped out, struggling to breath a bit. Ethan moved closer to help you, getting stopped by Jake baring his teeth and letting out a deep hair raising growl. Both of you stilled in shock at Jake’s unexpected reaction. Ethan was the first to recover, a furious expression on his face. “Jake, get off of (y/n),” he commanded, the air filling with tension as his dominant aura flared. Jake didn’t back down, despite him moving to no longer crush you, now sitting with his hind legs on your lap, facing Ethan. His furry muzzle, with teeth bared, ears standing up straight and alert, front paws holding him up in a way that you could see the hair on his chest and on the scruff of his neck were raised menacingly, was directed straight at Ethan.
Despite the scary sight, Ethan refused to back down. He went to touch one of your legs sticking out from underneath Jake’s bulky body, but a yelp-like bark escaped Jake’s sharp-toothed filled mouth. “Hey, stop it!” Ethan shouted. A few more barks come from the German Shepherd on your lap. Hazel-brown human eyes met brown canine ones in a silent battle of the wills, waiting for the other to give up so they could be the dominant winner. Somehow, Ethan won this battle, Jake blinking first and bowing his head in submission, avoiding eye contact as he whined. Without another word, Jake hopped off of you and the couch, onto the hardwood floor.
You let out the breath you didn’t know you were holding, as Ethan moved closer to you to check you over. “Are you okay?” he asked, worry in his hazel eyes. “Yeah. Just shocked,” you replied breathlessly. “Jake’s never been this possessive of me. Why did he act like that?” “I don’t know, but hopefully he won’t act like that again. I think he knows who’s the boss now,” Ethan pointed out. At that moment, your father decided to make an appearance. “I heard Jake barking. Is everything alright?” he asked, eyeing Ethan nervously. “Jake was sitting on me, crushing me. Ethan tried to get him off of me but he wouldn’t let him touch me,” you explained, trying to prove Ethan’s innocence to your father. Luckily, he believed you, especially after he saw Jake looking miserable, a few feet away. Your father groaned, in apparent disbelief. “I’m sorry. Jake is being so possessive. (Your mother’s name) and I have noticed that in the last month or so he’s starting to get territorial and rather ... loving, if you know what I mean,” your father apologized. You and Ethan made faces of disgust. “Thank god he didn’t try that shit with me. I would have slapped him,” you replied. Your father just gave a short chuckle, then said, “Dinner’s done by the way. Come take a seat in the kitchen and have a piece of your mother’s cooking.” “You don’t have to tell me twice,” Ethan joked, causing you to giggle. Holding hands, yours encompassed by Ethan’s much bigger one, you both trade you may to the kitchen table.
Once the smell of roasted chicken hit you, your mouth started to water. “Mmm, I just realized how much I missed your cooking mom,” you said as you took your seat, Ethan pushing it in for you. “So you haven’t missed my meals until now,” your mother joked. “Oh, stop, honey. Don’t patronize her,” your father whined. “Dad, she’s joking,” you pointed out. Dinner started without a hitch, each you serving yourself pieces of chicken and some side dishes. The room was filled with idle chatter, utensils scrapping gently across the dishes, teeth chewing, and drinks repeatedly being filled. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their meal, including Jake, who was given a few table scraps in his bowl every once in a while. Your father and mother asked Ethan a couple of questions but weren’t outright interrogating him. Ethan answered all of them truthfully, but you parents reacted positively to his answers. Like his passions and goals in life, things you two love to do together, his relationship with Grayson, etc. Before you knew it, plates were being clean and left overs put away.
“Hey, mom, would you like some help?” you said when you noticed your mother washing the dishes in the sink, bright pink rubber gloves covering her hands and lower arms. “I’d appreciate it sweety.” Towel in hand, you started to try and put the utensils and plates in its proper place. You worked in comfortable silence, until your mother spoke up. “So ...” she started. “So what?” you replied, eyebrow raised. “You and Ethan. Are you happy with him?” she asked. “Moooommmm,” you whined, pout on your lips. “What I’m curious? I want what’s best for you, honey.” “Honestly, he’s the best thing to ever happen to me. I’ve never been so happy with someone else like this before. Ethan cherishes me and loves me unconditionally. We’ve been on so many adventures together, getting me to try new things I would have never thought of before. He’s my best friend,” you explained, remembering all the wonderful moments you had with Ethan since you started dating him. “You really love him, don’t you?” your mother realized. You just nodded; no words could define the intensity of your adoration for Ethan. Your mother moved to hug you, and you returned the warm embrace.
You two separated, your mother gently holding your upper arms as she looked at you with immense pride and affection. “My little girl has grown up so much. I’ve always wondered when the time would come for you to find someone and I’m proud to say you made a great choice,” she praised. “Mom,” you whined, a blush on your cheeks. “Alright, I’ll stop getting all sentimental. I suggest you go back to Ethan and your father. I’ll finish up here.” She gently pushed you towards the entrance way into the kitchen, where you could hear Ethan and your father conversing pleasantly.
You left the kitchen and your mother, rounding the corner of the hallway towards the living room. Just as you about to walk into the room, you heard the last few words Ethan was saying to your father. “... I promise never to do anything like that. I truly love (Y/n), with everything I have,” you heard him say. You decided now was the right moment to let your presence be know, striding into the room as if you didn’t just hear their conversation. “I see you to were getting along. I didn’t interrupt anything, did I?” you faked innocence. “Nothing too important, dearie. I was just telling Ethan here to take good care of my little girl,” your father said, patting Ethan on the back. Ethan gave a fake smile, clueing you in that your father’s conversation wasn’t as friendly as your father let it out to be. But you let it be, as it wasn’t really your business. If Ethan wanted to tell you later on, then he could do so when he was comfortable.
“Oook ... well Ethan and I should probably get going now,” you said. “Yeah, Grayson’s probably waiting for us to get back. Don’t want to keep my little bro waiting do we?” Ethan piped up. “Really? So soon. I thought you guys would stay the night, at least,” you father whined. “Oh, let them go, (father’s name). We can’t force our daughter to stay even if we wanted to,” you mother spoke up as she appeared in the entryway of the room. Your groaned but gave up on the issue, falling under your mother’s thumb.
Ethan and you started to gather your things as you prepared to leave. The jiggling of car keys must caught his ears because out of nowhere Jake came running up to you two. The German Shepherd puppy skidded to a stop, nails clanking against the hard floor as did so. Luckily, he didn’t barge into the four of you, like you thought he would. Ethan let out a sigh of relief, relaxing from bracing himself from impact. “Aw, Jakey, have you come to say goodbye?” your mother cooed. Jake pushed his furry head into your hand, huffing happily in response. You kneeled down and pet the dog’s soft furry cheeks. “Goodbye, puppy. I’ll see you later, ok,” you told him, looking deep into his giant brown eyes. Jake gave a couple of gentle licks to your hand before you stood back up.
“You ready to go, babe,” Ethan asked you wrapping an arm around you and pulling you to his side. “Yep, I got everything,” you replied. Ethan smiled and moved to kiss you on the forehead, when Jake started barking. Ethan pulled away from you, as your parents and you looked on in confusion. Jake immediately stopped barking once Ethan was away from you. Confused, Ethan moved his face closer to yours, causing Jake to start barking again. Ethan frowned as your parents laughed. “It looks like Jake is a bit jealous, isn’t he?” your father chuckled. Ethan then tried to hug you, but the same thing started to happen again. Jake even tried to jump to separate you two but Ethan pushed him away before he could. “No! Bad dog!” he yelled. Jake just barked back unhappily, whines leaving his lips. “No! She’s my girlfriend! Not yours!” Ethan scolded the dog. Jake gave one last high-pitched bark then walked away, plopping himself on his beg on the other side of the room.
Your mother sighed, and started to apologize. “I’m sorry how he was today. I swear he’s a good boy , he’s just very stubborn. We’re working on his possessiveness with his trainer but we really haven’t gotten that far,” she explained, rubbing the bridge of her nose in exhaustion. “It’s ok, Mrs. (l/n). He’s just being an overprotective puppy. And there was no harm done,” Ethan tried to reassure her. “It’s almost like he’s a grumpy old man unhappy that someone is kissing his daughter.” “And that is why Jake’s my best friend. Our two minds think alike,” your father joked. Everyone had a laugh at that.
Goodbyes and hugs were exchanged between the four of you before Ethan and you were officially on your way. As you walked along the driveway, hand in hand with Ethan, you turned around to see Jake looking longingly out the window. A giggled escaped your lips, causing Ethan to turn his head around to look back. He smirked and put an arm around you, pulling you close and kissing your head. “My girlfriend,” you heard him mumble. You shock your head in mock disbelief, revelling in despite everything that happen the meeting between your parents and Ethan was a success. The only problem was that you were both covered in dog hair. Grayson was not going to be happy about that.

approaching the area where the exogeni staff are being held, we hear some chatter over the radio, and lizbeth demands we stop the rover.
a disagreement (tm) is occurring between ethan and juliana. we’re not really able to hide successfully behind a bunch of debris, so we come out when called. with a beautiful stink-face.
Ethan: Hah, Shepard. Damn it! I knew it was too much to hope the geth would kill you. I found some interesting facts about you in the ExoGeni database.
Ethan: I know what happened on Akuze*. This doesn’t have to end like that.
*Sole Survivor background. and goddamn, if shepard ain’t sick of people bringing up their trauma like that every ten minutes...
Lizbeth: This is a human colony, Jeong. You can’t just re-purpose us.
Ethan: It’s not just you. There’s something here far more valuable than a few colonists.
and here the ugly face of corporatism rears high, ready to strike. lizbeth quickly explains about the thorian to her mother, and everyone’s adequately horrified... except ethan, who really doesn’t care about anything other than exogeni and really makes me think of burke from aliens with how fervant he’s being toward his employers. it’s... it’s almost like... placing people in danger at the expense of your research into something that’s clearly too much for you to understand or look into isn’t going to end well!!
still don’t have enough points in the paragon or renegade skilltrees to be able to select EITHER of those suggestions on the left, which is where your P/R points get used in-game. i’m a little >:C about that, because i’ve maxed them both out at 9 skills, and i’m hoping the rest of them open up sometime soon.
ethan reaches for a gun, but shepard takes him down first, no problem, and his security detail quickly put up their hands and surrender. smart lads.
Juliana: As if we don’t have enough problems. Now we’re shooting each other in the back.
juliana gives us some nerve gas that we can use on the colonists to knock them out rather than shooting them - since they’re now aggressive and are highly resistant to the idea of shepard coming anywhere near the thorian. but before we even get anywhere near the first of them, we see something truly horrifying.
this is a thorian creeper, and takes the place of husks on feros. they’re quick moving, come at you in small swarms, and on harder difficulties can overwhelm you with ease. tali mentions that “no amount of infection could have done that [to a colonist]” which only begs the question... what is it? it’s humanoid, but not human, utterly mindless but for protecting the thing that, presumably, created it. but created it from what? the spores have only been infecting the colonists for a couple of weeks, so what did it take the form of before it had them to sink its spores into?
brr.

Mass Effect: A Hero’s Legacy -- Ch.1 excerpt
It did not take long for the Shepard children to notice an older woman accompanied by a much younger child—a 2-year-old girl—waiting for them nearby. The woman had recognizable reddish-brown hair, blue eyes, and light skin. She was beautiful. On her lap, the girl was sleeping soundly with her head in the woman's lap. She had dark chocolate brown hair, brown eyes, a light skin complexion, and wore a bright yellow dress.
"Aunt Sarah!" David called out.
Upon hearing her name being called, Sarah turned and smiled at her three nephews' approach. She was the youngest of four of the Williams family and their mother's youngest sister. Whenever Ashley was deployed on missions, Sarah was often acting as the maternal figure for her nephews and niece whenever they needed to be picked up from school whenever their father could not. It was hard for them, but at least one of them understood why such arrangements were necessary.
"Carolyn? Your brothers are here. Time to wake up, sweetie," she motioned for the child.
Carolyn—the youngest child and only daughter of John and Ashley—stirred before slowly opening her eyes and looked around before jumping to her feet. "Big bwuva," the 2-year-old exclaimed happily and stretched her arms out wide.
Kaidan bent down, hugged his sister, and ruffled her hair. "Hey, Carrie! Have you been a good girl?" he asked.
"Yup!"
"I hear you're going to start pre-school in a few months."
"Yup," she said sheepishly. "Daddy says got to…"
"Try noy to think too hard on it, you hear? Sure, school's gonna be tough, but you'll make lots of friends in no time."
"Weally?"
"Really really."
Another seemingly unfair responsibility heaped onto his shoulders, Kaidan thought to himself. Being the oldest of the four, the boy felt he had to help his father raise his younger siblings to relieve the stress placed on him—though John did not allow it, encouraging his son to at least live his childhood and enjoy himself. Kaidan understandably did so with great reluctance, knowing how exhausted his father was. He swore he could see it in his eyes.
"How was school?" Sarah inquired.
"Mr. Felmus gave me a detention slip… again," David grumbled.
"What did you do this time?"
"Nothing—"
"David thought it'd be funny to put a bucket of water above the classroom door," Kaidan explained. "And when the door opened… SPLASH! Right on his head. Mr. Felmus was furious."
"Tehehehe."
Sarah frowned. "David! That wasn't very nice," she scolded him.
"C'mon, aunt Sarah! It was funny."
"Pulling pranks on someone is a way to get yourself into trouble, young man. Just wait until your father hears about this…"
David's eyes widened. "NO! No, no, no, no! Please auntie, please don't tell dad! I don't wanna get grounded again!" he begged.
"You know it's going to happen anyway, Dave," Kaidan sighed.
"Meanie!"
"'Meanie', huh? Here's a good tip: Stop. Pulling. Pranks! What'll happen if you do something else and end up getting expelled?"
David quickly deflated and fell silent before throwing his backpack onto the backseat of his aunt's red X3M C-111 Skyline Shuttle model. Ethan and Carolyn followed suit; as for Kaidan, he sat in the front seat as Sarah got in the driver's seat before starting the ignition. The vehicle hummed as it hovered for a bit before flying into the traffic lanes. As his three siblings chattered in the back, Kaidan gazed out the window to see the thousands of flashing lights passing them by.

When Tom Cruise went ‘ballistic’ upon learning he’d have to share room with co-star - hollywood
https://www.liveindiatimes.com/when-tom-cruise-went-ballistic-upon-learning-hed-have-to-share-room-with-co-star-hollywood/
Actor Tom Cruise apparently wasn’t exactly in a sharing mood when he started filming The Outsiders. According to Fox News, actor Rob Lowe made the revelation when he recently appeared on Dax Shepard’s podcast Armchair Expert, where he opened up about working on the 1983 coming-of-age drama, in which Lowe starred as one of the Greasers, Sodapop Curtis, alongside Cruise, who played Steve Randle.
Lowe told Shepard that the Mission Impossible star couldn’t keep it together upon learning he would be bunking with Lowe while filming the movie, which was directed by The Godfather filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola.
The 56-year-old actor explained to Shepard, “All of the LA people survived the LA auditions, and then the hand-picked people had to go to New York to face the New York version. So it was me and Tom Cruise and Emilio [Estevez] and C Thomas Howell.”
Also read: Tom Cruise will be 60 years old by the time Mission Impossible 8 is released, will have played Ethan Hunt for over quarter-century
He recalled, “[It was the] first time I ever stayed at The Plaza Hotel, and we check-in, and Tom finds out that we’re sharing a room and just goes ballistic.” The pair worked side-by-side though, Lowe quipped to Shepard that Cruise simply knew his value and recalled the Top Gun star doing his own stunts early on his career.
Lowe said, “He ended up being the only one who could do a backflip. It is in the movie The Outsiders for no reason. He runs out of the house and does a backflip for no reason. Just to do it.”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4pFHmSuHRQ
The movie had an ensemble cast, including Matt Dillon, Patrick Swayze, Ralph Macchio, and Emilio Estevez, which Lowe believed fed into the huge chip the 57-year-old star-Cruise, kept on his proverbial shoulder.
Lowe said, “To me, what’s great about the story is, there are certain people who have always been who they are, and that element of them has powered them to where they are today and the rest is history. And the notion that an 18-year-old actor with a walk-on part in Endless Love and like the seventh lead in Taps could have that kind of like wherewithal.”
Lowe then pressed on and praised Cruise adding that he was blown away by his acting chops. Lowe said, “I remember going, ‘Wow, this guy is the real deal. I mean it made me laugh, it was gnarly. But in the end of it, you can’t argue with the results. He’s had his eye on the ball since day one.”

LGBTQ+ Shepards Week: Come In (A Coming Out Story)
A/N: This is really messy, I’m sorry about that. I wrote it late last night and ealry this morning and I didn’t really proofread it just so I could get this out there. It also ended up with some smutty stuff in it so if that makes you uncomfortable I’m sorry about that. It’s also my first time writing anything remotely smutty so don’t cringe too much while reading it.
Ethan sat in front of his terminal, scrolling absent-mindedly through the outline for a research assignment in his Biomedical Engineering course, only a few words registering as he skimmed. Medi-Gel… First Contact… Peer-Review. He excelled in mechanics, chemistry, even advanced calculus, but biology and medicine evaded him, no matter how hard he hit the books. He folded his arms on the desk in front of him and lowered his head in defeat, his forehead resting on his forearms.
The door slid open behind him, and a young man stepped into the room, careful to be quiet and not draw attention to himself. He stepped behind Ethan and placed a hand on his shoulder, “How’s it going?” he asked, bending over Ethan and kissing his head.
“God, how are you so good at BioMed? I have no clue how I’m going to write this paper. Hell, I have no clue what I can even write it on,” Ethan lamented, lifting his head and turning to look at the man behind him.
“It wouldn’t be fair if you were at the top of every class,” he chuckled, placing his hand on Ethan’s cheek and lifting his head. He brushed his lips over Ethan’s, gently biting his lower lip and moving his hand back to run through Ethan’s hair.
Ethan leaned into the kiss briefly and reached a hand up over the other man’s neck. Ethan stood from his chair, moving his other hand around the other man’s back, pulling their bodies close before releasing the kiss with a mournful sigh, “God, you have no idea how much I would love to do this right now, Nate,” he paused, turning his gaze down briefly before the other man, Nate, tipped his chin up, “But I have to at least try to pass BioMed.”
Nate playfully nipped Ethan’s lip and smirked, “Who says I can’t help you? I happen to be pretty good at…” he quickly flicked his eyes down to their bodies, still pressed against each other, “biology.”
With a smile, Ethan shook his head, “You know what, you can teach me all about biology after I’ve finished my first draft and if you’re lucky I might even tutor you in mechanics.” He gave a sly smile as his hand quickly dropped to Nate’s butt and gave a quick squeeze.
“As great as that delivery was, you really missed a great opportunity there. It would’ve been hotter if you said chemistry instead,” Nate chuckled a little, “I don’t know if I can be with someone if they can’t even see such an obvious pickup line!” he lamented, dramatically throwing his arms up.
“I’m nothing if not unpredictable,” Ethan retorted, playfully backhanding Nate’s chest.
“And yet, here you are on a Friday night: in your dorm room, writing a paper.” Nate joked, moving to Ethan’s side and throwing his arm over Ethan’s shoulders.
“Oh, am I? Last I checked my boyfriend had rudely interrupted my honourable effort at academic achievement for a booty call.” Ethan smiled, turning himself around so that he and Nate were face to face again, bodies even tighter this time, if it were even possible. His hands slid down Nate’s back, flirting with his waistband.
“Well, now you’re making me feel bad,” Nate mumbled as Ethan pressed their lips together
“I can think of a few ways you can make it up to me,” Ethan snickered under his breath as he nibbled Nate’s ear, while at the same time, slipping his hands past Nate’s waistband, grasping his butt firmly.
Nate could only grunt in acknowledgment, his mouth once again tied up in a deep kiss. Ethan slowly moved himself and Nate toward the bed, pulling his hands out of Nate’s pants as they hit the bedframe and pushing his boyfriend down onto the crisply folded sheets, releasing the kiss only momentarily so that he could pull his shirt over his head and throw it into a corner somewhere. Ethan straddled Nate’s waist, planting his hands on either side of Nate’s head and leaning down into the kiss again, their tongues quickly finding each other.
Ethan began tugging up Nate’s white tank top, the two of them sitting up in unison to ease the process. They broke their kiss as the hem made its way over Nate’s head and in the interest of reuniting their lips as soon as possible, Ethan hooked the front of the shirt behind Nate’s neck rather than dealing with pulling the shirt over Nate’s head.
Nate’s hands began to play with Ethan’s belt, struggling for any dexterity so far away. Ethan instinctively pulled himself forward to make Nate’s job easier, unfortunately ending the kiss. As Nate’s hands worked the buckle, which he found was deceivingly complex when he was not the one wearing it, Ethan began to massage his chest, gently rubbing his nipples. The flicking and massaging, coupled with the sudden release of pressure as Nate managed to open his pants elicited a moan from deep in his throat.
Nate’s fingers teased the waistband of Ethan’s underwear, dancing along the edge, gently brushing the skin underneath.
“Just fucking do it already,” Ethan moaned, leaning forward, his torso hanging over Nate’s head, his arms splayed over the far end of the bed.
Nate chuckled as he wrapped his fingers around the waistband, slowly pulling back, Ethan’s increasingly hard cock resisting the briefs slow move.
DING DING DING DING
Nate released the waistband in shock at the unusually loud chime from the terminal, snapping it back against Ethan’s body.
“Ow! Shit,” Ethan cried, rubbing his waist. They both turned their heads to the terminal on the other side of the room to investigate the source of the disturbance.
INCOMING CALL: HANNAH SHEPARD
“Fucking hell,” Ethan said, pulling himself off of Nate while rebuckling his pants. Nate pulled himself into a sitting position and pulled his shirt over his head, laughing at Ethan’s frenzied search for his shirt which had somehow disappeared during their makeout.
“You need a ha-” Nate started, hoisting himself off the bed, offering to help Ethan find his shirt before being interrupted,
“I need you to leave.” Ethan said firmly, turning to Nate, and intense stare on his face. Nate’s jaw hung open, unsure about how to respond to his boyfriend of 3 months telling him to leave so abruptly. Ethan sighed, turning back to his search, “My mom doesn’t know about us. She… she doesn’t know about me.” Nate swallowed, still not sure how to respond or how to feel but running to leave nonetheless. Spying his shirt tucked behind a mess of items on his desk, Ethan leaned to grab it, bumping his terminal in the process. Nate had turned back, opening his mouth to say something and say the video call had been answered, unknowingly when Ethan bumped the terminal. Aware of the fact that Ethan didn’t want him to be seen, Nate quickly jumped into the closet, which was closer to him and already opened. The irony was not lost on him.
“Hello? Ethan? Is there a reason all I’m seeing is your bare chest right now?” Hannah’s voice called through the terminal.
Grabbing the shirt and quickly throwing it over his head, Ethan dropped into the chair, “Hey mom! Sorry, I was just finishing some endurance training.”
“In your room?” he saw his mother cock an eyebrow.
“You don’t get top marks for not doing work on your own time.” He smiled, running a nervous hand through his hair.
“I take it your classes are going well.” Hannah smiled
“Yeah, yeah. I have this, uh, paper I have to write for Biomedical Eng that’s looking a little daunting right now but once I figure out a topic it should be good.”
“That seems a little presumptuous. Don’t count your eggs before they hatch, Eth.”
“It’s fine, mom.” Ethan stared at his mother’s image, “Why are you calling? Don’t you leave on a mission in like… 5 hours? Shouldn’t you be sleeping?”
“I’m a little restless. Besides, you just started your training 2 months ago and you were traveling around Earth for months before that. I figure a check-in with my only child wouldn’t hurt.”
“I visited before training started, mom.”
“For 2 days. It hardly counted, not when I spent 19 years raising you,” Hannah shook her head and laughed at her son, “So, would I know any of your instructors?”
“There’s a couple of old guys here who probably saw the Protheans still breathing that you might recognize from vids about the First Contact War, but it’s a different school than you went to, so I doubt you’d know anyone here.”
“You’re making friends, I hope?”
“How old do you think I am, mom? I don’t exactly need help making friends.”
“I know how you get sometimes. Don’t hole up in your room the entire time your there. Go drinking with other recruits, find a jogging buddy. Just… don’t isolate yourself for the sake of your marks. You’ll do well regardless. But you can get lonely just as easily.”
“I’m not isolated, mom. I was just… training with a friend before you called.”
Hannah relented, raising her hands. After a short silence she spoke again, “So, has anybody special caught your eye?” she grinned, enjoying the opportunity to
“Well, uh,” Ethan began, his eyes flicking in the direction of the closet. Swallowing his reservations and steeling himself, he continued, “I’m seeing someone, actually.”
Hannah’s interest was obviously piqued, her eyebrows raised and her head tilted to the side, “You’re seeing someone? That can’t be all information you’re giving me, Ethan.” Hannah chided jokingly. Ethan could practically feel her elbow nudging him between his ribs.
“Well, it’s a boy. Man. Guy,” he sputtered, his chest tight with apprehension, “I’m- I’m dating a guy, mom.”
Hannah rolled her eyes, “Thank you for the wealth of information, that has really sated my curiosity.”
Ethan struggled to think about how to describe him, “Well, he’s, uhh,”
“Is he a recruit, too? Regs exist for a reason, you know.”
“I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have been born if some people hadn’t broken regs,” Ethan joked weakly, forcing a bit of a smile. His chest felt a little more at ease, given her overlooking of the confession, but part of him still waited anxiously for the other shoe to drop.
“Do as I say, not as I do,” she smiled, through a tightly drawn mouth, her tone still aiming for friendly and overshooting to cheesy mom from the vids trying to be her kid’s best friend, “Does this boy-guy-man have a name?”
Ethan panicked, not quite ready to confess the full details of his newfound romance, “Uh, Brandon. Brandon Kee. He’s training for science escorts.”
Hannah leaned back in her chair and hummed, a little skeptical given Ethan’s wide eyes and tight shoulders. She sat forward again, brushing her hand along her hairline, a useless gesture given that her hair was in a tight bun, as it had been for almost all of Ethan’s life. “Are you using any labels?”
Ah, the other shoe, Ethan thought adjusting himself in his chair, readying himself for what might happen next.
“I just want to make sure I don’t use the wrong one or make any assumptions when I talk about it. If I talk about it. It’s totally up to you, of course,” she clarified, her voice finally managing to convey the friendliness and caring she had struggled to pinpoint for years.
Ethan was taken by surprise. He had been preparing for battle. Of course, it made no sense for him to, but there was something about the idea of the conversation that gave him doubts and anxiety which he was quick to give into. He was only glad his Tactics and Recon instructor wasn’t grading him on his coming out. His shoulders slowly fell, releasing their tension, his chest loosened, his breath eased, “I, uh… I’m pansexual, actually. I think. I’m still figuring it out. But, I guess you can tell people if you want.”
“Thank you for telling me, Ethan. And I don’t plan to go yelling it across the station. I just want some ammunition next time your Aunt Lucy asks if she can set you up with her friends’ daughters,” Hannah paused, watching the last of the tension release from her son’s body, “You looked scared for a second there, kiddo. You should know that you’re my son and I love you for who you are, not despite it.” Hannah smiled, wishing she could reach through the screen of her terminal to hold her son’s hand.
“I’m sorry, you just hear stories about kids who… who get kicked out or disowned,” Ethan’s voice cracked, trying to quell the tears welling in his eyes, “And the churches still can’t make up their mind about what to preach. I know we’re not exactly religious but it just… makes you doubt it, you know?” A tear managed to escape his eye and trickle down his cheek.
“I do, sweetie. But, you never need to apologize for it. This isn’t an experience I’ve ever had, so I’m in a pretty crappy position to judge the way you do it or your reasons to avoid it.”
“Thanks, mom. I appreciate it.” Ethan mumbled, looking down a little sheepishly.
“Okay, I really should get some sleep before I ship out. Good luck on that paper.” Hannah said, reaching to turn off the terminal.
“Good night, m-”
“Oh, and don’t forget to use a condom!” Hannah interrupted, quickly pulling her hand back from the power button.
“Oh, my god, mom. Goodbye.” Ethan frantically closed the call, eager to avoid what would prove to be an even more awkward conversation with his mother. He collapsed against the back of his chair with a sigh.
After a moment of silence, Ethan turned around suddenly at the sound of the closet door rattling open, seeing Nate step out cautiously, “Brandon Kee? Really?” he joked gingerly, stepping toward Ethan.
Ethan got up and walked toward Nate, standing a few paces away, his hands in his pockets. “I guess you heard all that, then.”
Nate nodded, sucking his lips.
“I’m sorry about earlier. I shouldn’t have… I’m sorry,” Ethan’s eyes pled for forgiveness.
“It’s fine. I’m not about to criticize you for not wanting to come out yet. I’m glad you did though,” Nate accepted the apology with just a little derision that Ethan even thought he needed to apologize in the first place.
Ethan stepped forward and wrapped his arms around Nate’s body, sinking into the embrace and letting himself truly relax for the first time since the call tone.
Nate ran his hands comfortingly over Ethan’s back and head for a few seconds, “Still, Brandon Kee?”
Ethan snorted a laugh, pulling his head back from Nate’s shoulder, where it had been nestled“What, you think I should have told her who you were? ‘Hey mom, this is my boyfriend and lover Nathaniel Hackett, you know like the Alliance legend Rear Admiral Steven Hackett’s son?’ I’m sure that would have gone over well.”
“What, am I too much of a bad boy for Captain Shepard’s taste?” Nate smirked, biting his lip seductively as he pulled Ethan’s hips against his.
“Yeah, because all the bad boys have the highest Biomedical Engineering marks,” Ethan teased, pecking Nate’s lips with a kiss, before slipping his hands down to his waistband again.
“Wait,” Nate said, putting his finger to Ethan’s lips, sticking his other into his pocket, pulling out a condom with a sly grin, “I seem to recall someone saying something about one of these.”
Ethan playfully hit his chest, “There’s something creepy about that, I assure you.”
“Mmhmm,” Nate hummed as he pressed his lips against Ethan’s, pushing him back onto the bed.

Paul Dano fails to rival Ethan Hawke in soft ‘True West’ revival
When Ethan Hawke relieving himself onto a houseplant turns into one of the crucial noteworthy moments in a Broadway present, it’s protected to say it’s been a soggy evening of theater. That’s what awaits at this intermittently involving, usually tedious tackle “True West,” Sam Shepard’s much-admired 1980 darkish comedy of savage sibling rivalry and function reversal. On this Roundabout revival, which opened Thursday, Hawke performs Lee, a mangy drifter and small-time felony. He’s a lowlife who lives in the desert, chain-chugs beers and will get off on mocking his estranged brother, whom he joins, uninvited, on the Southern California residence of their vacationing mother. Paul Dano performs Lee’s youthful sibling, Austin, an Ivy League-educated household man and screenwriter who’s this shut to promoting a challenge to Hollywood. Buttoned-up and even-keeled, Austin’s every thing Lee isn’t. Or is he? When Lee persuades Saul, a producer, over an unseen recreation of golf, to purchase his film thought for a Western as an alternative of Austin’s love story, every thing switcheroos. Saul “thinks we’re the identical particular person,” Austin tells his brother. And the Tinseltown honcho could also be proper. Joan Marcus Issue in surreal touches, reminiscent of a long-winded and bloody story a couple of man dropping his tooth, and a fleet of stolen toasters, and that’s just about the play. With the suitable actors, that’s all it takes to compel and combust. Which it did in the 2000 Tony-nominated revival with Philip Seymour Hoffman and John C. Reilly, who alternated roles and set off sparks in every. This new model, directed by James Macdonald, may use a high-voltage energy infusion. As is, the staging faucets Shepard’s sly humor however lacks power and fizzles as a battle royale. Snarling and sneering, Hawke conjures the correct of feral menace, very like the coyotes heard howling exterior the house. However Dano, blank-faced and bland, presents subsequent to nothing to play or punch towards. The “Escape at Dannemora” star fades into the surroundings even when Lee kilos his typewriter to items with a golf membership. In the long run, the brawling brothers have wrecked their mother’s cheery kitchen and are on the verge of killing one another. By then, you’re much less seemingly to surprise what introduced them to this or why their crazy mom (Marylouise Burke), who enters late in the motion, is babbling on about Picasso. You’re extra apt to pity the crew who has to clear up the mess after each present.
