is there any actual confirmation that the secret keeper assigns tasks randomly? because i'm not convinced

so—at the very least, the secret keeper knows who a task is being assigned to. we know this because tasks can involve specific other players. skizz needing to stay near gem, tango needing to get scar to talk about star wars, mumbo needing to become etho's best friend. if the secret keeper didn't know who they were giving a task to, someone could get a task involving themselves

but beyond that, the tasks still feel like they're personalized, to me

both grian and mumbo getting pun making tasks, when they're both essentially inseperable

grian needing to move front doors, when stealing them was his whole thing in hermitcraft season 7

martyn, the least confident in his building abilities on the server, getting a building task, and then needing to get it burnt down next session

im not sure how much i agree with all of this but i do think its an interesting perspective to look at it through

i think it more comes down to the reasoning for me, to have the watchers continue to represent the viewers

wouldn't there be a lot more diversity in how the watchers act, then? wouldn't the viewers be treated differently for all they put the players through?

i think of the watchers a bit less like a species than i do like a specific part of a species, a specific group

and this specific group is the most powerful one that interacts with the life series and its cyclic death games. and they took on a literal taste for negative emotion, the spicier the better lmao

and the listeners are a part of this same species, but are a different group because of how them and the watchers differ from each other

and grian is still technically a watcher, in how the watchers have left their mark, but he's not socially part of them. he's more socially alike the listeners despite his unawareness of them

Tbh I've never been a fan of the watchers being actively evil vision.... I prefer them as fully neutral. They're bored and curious gods. They COME OFF as cruel to mortals because of how far they're willing to go to entertain themselves. Because in that sense, the watchers conserve theie original concept: to be a stand in for viewers

Like if we take the view of them being the ones who created the life series, it wouldn't have been out of malice. It would've been out of pure, neutral curiosity, a need to know what would happen if you threw players in those specific settings

Finding out is their favorite thing to do which pushes them to fuck around

honestly imo, the whole point of it is a death game! you might be hesitant to do destructive things, but think about it—if you don't, no one will, and it'll just be boring from then on

also, take into account how red lives's goal is to kill and only to kill. if you wanna incorporate some of martyn's lore concepts, red lives have bloodlust and everything is bound to descend into chaos. if it doesn't, the watchers will find a way to make it happen.

basically, if everyone's being wholesome, it's just gonna be pretty boring honestly, if you're treating it like a death game

the whole thing that makes traffic lives so fun is the chaos! it doesn't mean you can't be wholesome, but more often than not you're going to have to be on the defensive, and people can easily go on the offensive even if they don't mean to

the things that drive the players in these games is that they care, but there's things like red lives and boogeymen driving them apart—everyone's paranoid and scared and people react to those things differently, whether it be through distraction or feeling paralyzed or trying to take out the perceived threat

It's because of convex.

I have seen only s6 (grians pov) and then forwards but in seasons 5 and 6 (and im not sure about s4) scar and cub had convex/concorp and did pranks with vex masks on.

I'm not the best person to ask as I do not know much about convex as I haven't seen those seasons from their POV
