CASSIAN WAS ALWAYS A VERY ANIMATED PERSON. even more so when he was stressed. " i'm just saying–- i've seen a lot of things, and that was messed up. " he's hands waving a bit as he spoke. " why attack a wedding? " he knew WHY, it was smart even, but he didn't like it. " okay, okay –- i know why. " shaking his head. " our guards were down. it's the smart play. truly. but it's so sad. " he continued his rambling by adding " we need to start being more proactive! we can't just let them – " he paused, looking sheepish. " sorry, you know me. " cass could go on and on if someone didn't stop him.

CASSIAN’S JAW TENSED, BUT HE DIDN’T LOOSEN HIS GRIP ON HER— if anything, he pulled her in tighter, like that alone might keep her from drowning in guilt she didn’t deserve to carry. his voice was low, steady, but full of feeling. “ clem… you were in p i e c e s. you both were. you were doing everything you could just to survive that year, to breathe through it. i don’t think nate ever expected you to carry his pain on top of your own. and yeah, he's hurting. of course he is. but so are you. ” he exhaled quietly, his thumb rubbing a slow circle against her arm. he didn’t say anything about how much it w r e c k e d him hearing that nate’s brother died, how it scraped against the old grief he kept buried. that wasn’t for now. “ you’re not selfish. you’re not heartless. you’re not cold. you’re just... you.. and you lost your whole damn world in that tornado too. don’t turn that into some kind of sin. ” he leaned his head against hers, grounding her like he always tried to do. “ you showing up now? that matters. you think he doesn’t see that? you think he doesn’t feel that? maybe this is the start of something neither of you knew you needed. ”
"He doesn't blame me," Clem said with a sigh. "Doesn't mean I still don't blame myself. I think he's still pissed, reasonably so. His brother is dead..." she said. "That's why he came back. I was so caught up in my own trauma, that I didn't even think to make sure his siblings were good, especially with everything happening. He would've done the same for you, for Autumn. God, I'm so selfish. I let this tornado take everything, more than just my friends."

Our second edition of the Black History Month Author Spotlight series features beloved author, C.C. Hill (@when-life-gives-you-lemons-if)!
(CC is an absolute institution. What better way to celebrate Valentine’s than by doing a feature of the slice-of-life romance queen herself? CC is one the most inspiring, supportive IF writers out there, and it was a great honor to pick her brain! Read on for pandemic-setting feel good stories and Creole-based spells!)
Author: C.C. Hill
I'm from Haiti, born and raised. I love red wine, ice cream, and I'm obsessed with true crime podcasts.
Games: When Life Gives You Lemons (Slice-of-Life)
Synopsis: You play as an MC starting a new life in a small town called Lemon. It’s a story about self-discovery, love, and parenthood—a comfort story where the love interests want to sweep you off your feet.
Games: The Midnight Saga (Horror)
Synopsis: After finding yourself trapped in another dimension, you and your friends must fight for survival and defeat the monsters that lurk in the shadows. Make sure to grab a weapon as your quiet Halloween night turns into an out-of-this-world adventure!
Quote from the interview:
What mostly inspired Lemon in particular was the need for a feel-good story—a story where the character just needs a break. No magic, no monsters, just going through life and having the romance options fall in love with them no matter what. It was just the need for comfort, for feel-good moments, for romance, and a little bit of drama.
Read on for the full interview!
Tell me more about yourself! What are some things new readers or long-time readers might not know about you?
I'm from Haiti, born and raised. I love red wine, ice cream, and I'm obsessed with true crime podcasts.
Can you tell me a bit about what you’re working on right now and your journey into interactive fiction? What inspired the game/story you’re currently writing?
I'm working on so many things it should be illegal for my brain to operate this way. But mainly, When Life Gives You Lemons. My plan is to focus on the final part in March, do some beta testing, and submit it to Hosted Games in April for my birthday month.
I'm also under contract with Heart’s Choice, writing Spices of the Heart, with hopes of completing it this year. On top of that, I’m working on publishing my first visual novel, The Wedding. It’s close to completion, and I have the third quarter of 2025 planned for publication.
I only started writing interactive fiction in 2020. When the pandemic hit, I needed something to keep my brain occupied, and five years later, I’ve published three games and still have a ton of projects in progress. What mostly inspired Lemon in particular was the need for a feel-good story—a story where the character just needs a break. No magic, no monsters, just going through life and having the romance options fall in love with them no matter what. It was just the need for comfort, for feel-good moments, for romance, and a little bit of drama.
How has your identity, heritage/background, upbringing, or personal experiences influenced your storytelling or writing process? OR How does your work feature aspects of your identity / experience?
My first game, The Midnight Saga, was heavily inspired by my background and where I'm from. The story itself is based on an old Haitian folklore about not staying outside after midnight—if you do, the Keeper of Midnight will eat you. I took that idea and built the characters around it.
I even managed to include some spells written in Haitian Creole. It was a lot of fun to write, and even though Book 2 is currently on hiatus, this story has a special place in my heart because it was my first game. The characters are a representation of my people and the struggles they’ve gone through. I’m really happy that it was my debut story.
What are some of the most rewarding or challenging aspects of writing Interactive Fiction for you?
For me, it’s branching and being able to write an MC and other characters in a way that readers can truly connect with. Lately, I’ve been writing a lot of feel-good romance and slice-of-life stories, and I’m starting to feel like this is my comfort zone—and I want to stay here forever.
I never want to create a romance option that is inherently bad or purposely deceitful. My biggest challenge is writing characters who are flawed and complex—where readers can love them or hate them—but making sure they aren’t just villains for the sake of it. They’re simply existing in the world they were created in.
What does your writing process look like? Any rituals or habits? Any tips, tricks, philosophies or approaches that have worked very well for you?
My writing process is a mess. My brain gets pulled in so many directions. When I get an idea, I have to code it, shape it, and give it life—otherwise, it’s going to bug me forever. That’s why I end up with so many WIPs. I need to see them through, at least to a short demo, to see if they make sense.
My desk is also full of notes, and I basically write on anything—pieces of napkins, tissue boxes, whatever is nearby. One weird habit I have is that some of the best changes I’ve made to my games, those "spark" moments, happen when I’m in the shower. It’s weird and strange, but it works.
What’re you excited to tackle/implement/work on next? Or anything you’re looking forward to in the year ahead?
Keep writing romance and feel-good slice-of-life stories. Get When Life Gives You Lemons published this year. Focus on doing this full-time. Publish my visual novel.
Overall, just stay busy and be productive.
If you were to say one thing to your readers, other authors, and/or the interactive fiction community: what would it be?
To the readers—us authors don’t have all the answers. Sometimes, we start writing a story and end up forgetting certain plots or characters, which is easy to do when writing interactive fiction. So yes, we often write ourselves into a corner and just put a period there so the story can progress.
To the authors—write stories you love, something you would want to read. It makes it easier to keep going because if it’s a story you love, you’ll want to see how it ends, and that will push you to persevere.
This-or-that segment: (red = CC's pick)
Coffee or tea?
Early mornings or late nights?
Angsty or Cozy romances?
Steady progress or frenzied binge-writing followed by periods of calm?
Introvert or extrovert?
Plotter or pantser?

DUE TO COPYRIGHT ISSUES, THIS GUIDE IS CURRENTLY OBSOLETE.
hi, i just want to let everyone know, if any of you are frustrated with the state of TS4, i've compiled several different tutorials and made an all-in-one guide for playing TS2 on modern computers. it has all the fixes necessary to prevent crashes + pink flashing, and tips to make the game look just as nice as TS4, if not better!
please let me know if this guide is useful for you, or if anything needs to be changed/added/removed. i've tested it myself on multiple computers, and, while it works for me, there are many possibilities for error, considering that everyone's computer is different.
thank you for reading! i hope you like it :]
EDIT: i've set up a ko-fi, if anyone wants to show their appreciation for my work!! thank you so much to anyone who donates!!
EDIT 2: if you're going to copy my guide, especially if some parts are word-for-word, please give me credit, just like how i gave credit at the end of the tutorial to all of the creators whose guides i referenced in the creation of this carrd. as far as i'm aware, i came up with this idea of an all-in-one carrd first- having a large platform does not make you better than anyone else or "above" giving credit to others.
EDIT 3:
the web installer has been taken down for a copyright issue. i will have to find an alternative method of downloading. as of right now, this guide is obsolete, and reblogs will be turned off until the issue is fixed.
last updated: february 16th, 2025, update info in the replies.

Me: See, when Cloud asks Aerith if she and Zack were serious and she responds "Not really", she's not actually lying. While obviously she loved him and he loved her, Zack wasn't really a loadbearing part of her life, and with the hindsight of being an adult she can look back and acknowledge how little their lives intersected. However, Aerith was and is a much more important person to Zack, because she was basically his only friend outside of Shinra, and representative of the life he should have been leading instead of being a child soldier. Their interactions throughout crisis core are baked with a sense of normalcy, something Zack is in desperate lack of, so he views his relationship with her as the only thing "safe" from being in the military. That's why, when his life of being a SOLDIER crumbles around him, the only thing he can really think of is reuniting with Aerith. Aerith is the only haven he had away from it all, and stands for the domesticity he has been so violently robbed of. Aerith is the personification of his dreams, in much the same way Cloud is the personification of his honor, and his mindless chasing and protecting of the two represents Zack trying to cling to the last shards of his identity he has left.
My coworker Jeff: I see. And those reports I asked for?
Me: Irrelevant.
#I'm really obsessed with the coexisting truths that aerith wrote 89 letters to a ghost of a man#but describes their actual dating as 'not that serious'#I love Zack desperately and lovingly pursuing Aerith through like 3 layers of reality#because he realized he was placing her on a pedestal and in actuality she never existed in safety#I love how awkward and silly and childish all their interactions in cc are#and I love Cloud and Aerith both buckling under the pressure of being the two people Zack loved with his last breath#final fantasy#final fantasy vii#final fantasy 7#ffvii#ff vii#ff7#ff 7#crisis core reunion#crisis core#compilation of final fantasy vii#final fantasy vii crisis core#final fantasy 7 crisis core#ffvii crisis core#ff7 crisis core#zack fair#cloud strife#aerith gainsborough

Scott Smajor (cc) is such a good story teller actually and the common themes he uses in his storylines captivate me. I think we should talk about how good he is at Themes more often. If I wasn't so tired I'd write essays.
#scott smajor#his use of *grief* specifically#how it's often framed as *the worst thing* one can experience#how his roleplay(tm) moments in third life + a lot of witchcraft smp explore this idea#that grief = a death of the self as well and is uniquely horrifying in how it robs one of agency and hope#and how heavily it interacts with scott's typical central thematic focus on hope through continuation#his stories often convey hopeful and positive endings- even to tragic events- through presenting a world that keeps moving#where you have a path forward. a will and ability to carry onward. and a non-negotiable continuous consciousness interestingly enough.#notably even when scott's endings include death they don't tend to be true deaths.#there is a confirmed afterlife in both empires season one and third life#and scott literally reverses death in witchcraft smp#the idea of true death and subsequent *loss* is the biggest thing you can clash against scott's main themes of hope+choice+moving forward#so it's very natural that frequently loss#and maybe even more broadly any form of true *endings* as a concept#are framed through such a lens of horror and unique despair within the stories#because the storyteller is juxtaposing it against their central themes as the most hostile and irreconcilable thing with them#maybe i'm hyping up my cc too much by implying the minecraft roleplay is.#a dialogue with- and grappling of- the mere concept of finality and endings#(usually through death because that's typically the most profound and unchangeable form of finality we have any grasp of)#like i'm probably giving “is the minecraft based commentary about the relationship between hope and mortality in the room right now?” vibes#but like.#you have to understand how many recurring themes he uses#and how interesting they are#i believe in my cc's storytelling capabilities because his themes blow me away.#and even if it's not intentional storytelling (which i think it is because the themes are very well used and frequent enough)#i still find it interesting regardless

「 closed starter. 」 cassian and maya. @howmcnythings
HE WAS ICING HIS SHOULDER AFTER WORK, sitting across from maya. “ so–- i told her how when i fell, it felt like it popped. then she made me sit out to be the man behind. which is fair. but i told her i was good. and now–-- here i am. ” he explained with a shrug. which caused him to wince slightly. “ doc said to just ice it. ” he smiled up at her as she finally sat down across from him. “ so i'm not too worried. ”

CASSIAN ALMOST DIDN’T WALK IN.
he stood outside for longer than he’d ever admit, just staring at the little café like it might swallow him whole. it wasn’t fear that held him back— he’d survived enough real fear to know the difference. this was something else. old ache, maybe. guilt. a hollow kind of hope he’d buried and pretended didn’t exist, but somehow still hadn’t rotted away.
when he finally stepped inside, his hands were shoved deep in his coat pockets, fingers pressed so tightly together it ached in his knuckles. he hadn’t taken a full breath since the door c h i m e d behind him. the smell of roasted beans and burnt sugar didn’t soothe him like it used to. not now. not when sol was sitting there.
and sol—gods, sol looked like something out of a half-remembered dream. familiar and d i f f e r e n t all at once. cassian couldn’t decide if it made things better or worse.
he smiled. that soft, lopsided thing that never quite reached his eyes anymore. not like it used to.
“ hey. ” he said, stepping closer, hesitant in a way he rarely was. “ thanks for waiting. i didn’t know if you’d still… ” he trailed off, biting the inside of his cheek, and slid into the seat across from him without finishing the sentence. some things didn’t need to be said out loud. sol always had a way of hearing what he didn’t say anyway.
[ or he used too. . . cassian wasn't sure anymore. ]
he looked down at the table, thumb brushing against a stray sugar packet like it might give him something to focus on, something to ground him. “ this place used to be different. ” he said softly, not quite a deflection, but close. “ i used to sneak in here with one my sisters. we'd make up fake names when we ordered. drove the baristas nuts. she thought it was the funniest thing in the world. ”
a beat. a breath.
“ she would’ve liked you. ” he added, and his voice c r a c k e d —just slightly—at the edges.
there it was. a piece of the grief he carried like a second skin. it slipped in without warning, heavy and quiet, like it always did. he didn’t apologise for it.
instead, he lifted his gaze to sol’s. let the weight of it all settle in his chest for a moment before speaking again. “ you look good. older. ” he said with a small huff of air that might’ve been a laugh if it had a little more strength behind it. “ not in a bad way. just… like life’s been lived. i guess we both do. ” he was rambled.
another pause.
“ i don’t really know how to do this. ” his fingers drummed once against the table before stilling again. “ i’ve had a lot of conversations in my head—what i’d say if i saw you, how i’d say it. none of them sounded like this. i’m not here to dump everything on you. i just— i didn’t want to keep pretending like those five-minute run-ins weren’t doing something to me. like they didn’t still matter. like you didn’t. ”
he shook his head, half a laugh, half a breath of disbelief at himself. “ gods, listen to me. i sound like a mess. ”
cassian finally reached for the cup in front of him, wrapping his hands around it even though it had gone lukewarm. his next words came quieter. “ i know we’re not the same people anymore. i don’t e x p e c t us to be. but i missed you, sol. more than i ever let myself admit. ”
loss was not foreign to salomon. it was not something looming and dreadful beyond the horizon. not the hypotheticals, the 'god forbid's or the 'someday's. he couldn't look to his past and claim fortune. loss was an old friend. it was something tangible, constant, woven through the fabric of his life. at times it was sudden and earth-shattering. life changing. other times it came quietly. it came as several missed calls, one unreturned message too many. the denial of emotions that once felt like an all encompassing truth.
loss was an old friend. a friend once thought to be a merciless devourer. what the half-dragon never considered was that loss would be forgiving — it would return the things in which he placed so much devotion. the (person) people.
sol had been back in northknot for less than a week when he ran into the fairy the first time. it happened just before the new year's ball, something the entire town seemed abuzz about. he hardly held any interest for it. it wasn't his scene; he had his son to take care of, to help acclimate to a town more bustling than the mountain village they had in their rearview. sol had more pressing matters at hand, like finding a replacement for the home baked pastries jase would get from their elderly neighbor. former neighbor.
first it was the grocery store, then the street just outside the deli he frequented as a teenager, then the 911 call for his boy's few broken bones after an adventure in the woods went awry. a few other aimless, random encounters. none of their meetings had been on purpose nor longer than five minutes, if that, save for the final one in which they planned this date meet. they were the kind of toss away interactions one might chalk up to every day drivel — except he found himself still drowning in cassian's ocean gaze, still hanging off of every word out of those lips. oh, what a wrench five minutes could throw into his days. he almost tripped over his own tongue when they finally planned to see each other for coffee, intentionally, alone.
it was late enough that nary a soul spent more than the three, maybe four minutes it took to order and retrieve their caffeine or overly sugared cups. the cafe was tucked away into one of the quieter streets of northknot, an offbeat, artsy establishment that replaced his once favored study lounge. luckily, it kept the same odd hours the study lounge once kept for the even odder patrons: eccentrics, writers, insomniacs— himself. he sat at the table in the far corner, peering out the bay window onto the lazy street, his index finger idly tracing circles on the now-cold paper cup in his grasp. he would apologize to cassian for the strange meet time if he could remember his manners beyond the shadow of his nerves. @hxrricvnes

this is going to sound so ubnoxious, but i saw a lifesteal confession and immediately realised that im probably guilty of the exact thing it was talking about (people mostly caring about branzy when it comes to lifesteal and clownzy). but after a minute of thinking (🤔<- like this) i could kiiiinda pinpoint why and i thought it'd be interesting enough to vocalise, at least.
in my head, there's a very clear line between "the guy whose vidoes i watch while eating lunch" and "the guy i make fanworks of." even though its technically the same guy. i love watching branzy's videos. he's extremely entertaining and talented. but i also have a separate version of him that's based on the character he plays. the guy who in many cases has a story that ends up being very tied to clowns. being the most important person to the deadliest guy is a compelling character and i find that very fun to explore in writing. admittedly the bit they've got going on where they flirt unprompted is still kinda peak and that is definitely something i'd want to see more of. very chill about it though. *wink*
however, and this is where i wholeheartedly agree with everything in the confession. i really dislike it when the comment section on branzy's videos mention clown in a video clown's barely in. cc!branzy could spend five hundred hours working on a minecraft project and if clownpierce happens to be eluded to, then that's what a lot of the comments will be about. now i LOVE clownzy crumbs because i'm a pathetic individual, but there are so many other things to talk about in branzy's non-lifesteal content than the gay bit he did two years ago.
anyway here are some elements of branzy's character that i really appriciate bout him
he is like a jack of all trades. sure he's not the very very best in any field, but he's a great builder, great redstoner, great at survival things, great at the game in general. i think his strongest trait is just how dedicated he is to whatever he decides to do. he loves a challenge, he loves overkill and theatrics, he needs mental stimulation and work or else he dies.
in after hours smp he commited so many crimes... so many. one thing i loved is that for that video he had to research these crimes and come up with a minecraft equivalent. he's extremely creative and his brain works in weird, sort of morbid and somehow also cutesy ways.
or in the video where he's building a computer in minecraft with rek. one moment he doesn't get what's happening and he asks rek to "explain it to me like im a puppy" or something. and it's such a silly little moment but i like that he just found no shame in asking. in general he's just very down to earth and shameless.
he is not in any way morally upstanding. if he saw a big read button that said "press this to kill one hundred random children" he'd not hesitate. if the button was protected with top security measures he'd do whatever it takes to get past them. he does not care about good and bad. please never give him morals.
his love language is killing his friends for fun
okay here's a personal preference but he needs to have some wacky job. if you're writing this man he needs to be money laundering. or running a pyramid scheme. why would anyone put him in a school, or a cafe. he's a palm reader who sucks but takes money before readings and runs away. he's running a sweatshop and all the worker uniforms are weird costumes. he's a janitor but he uses special access to steal things. he has one hundred different identities. why am i describing stanley pines.
moving on.
there is so much love in him. he loves the craft (insert trademark mark here), he loves the people around him, he finds joy in pretty flowers, he finds joy in setting pretty flowers on fire.
many more things to say but the gist is. bramzycraft....
he's a dad now and i think that's beautiful. buuuuuuuuut the baby doesnt have anything to do with toxic yaoi (that we know of... 👁️👁️) so how important is it REALLY.
clownzy jesus out.
#kidding i imagined her being a kid in my moms daycare#i would boop her nose#yeah im weird im a weirdo#etc#so anyway...#branzy#clownzy#my special interest is studying mcyt spaces and how we interact with ccs and c!s#this will surely get me places.#happy friday everyien'#next up i will be talking about mischaracterization of branzy#boy do i have thoughts:)
