Male reader x Husk angsty fic! Word count: 375 words

This is part of a fic trade with the lovely @parisiterileymoon

It was shameful and embarrasing, you thought to yourself "i've outdone myself again, another one who hates me now"

"i don't deserve him, and he doesn't deserve to put up with me" is the truth that you came to after seeing how you had driven Husk, it was clear as day that he couldn't stand you anymore, from the attitude to him getting mad at every chance he got, to the fact that on some nights he wouldn't even come near you in bed.

You were admittedly a pest, witty and never serious. And to top that your love language quality time was not "cuddling and going on dates" kind of quality time no, you got the "annoy the other person until you can see their blood vessels on their forehead" kind of quality time, and never mind that in the few sporadic occasions that you were serious you tended to be as moody as an emo band in the 2000s.

But nontheless, in spite of your now 3 days of continuos brooding in your room, he came and with a seemingly sober voice he said

"what are doing in here, something wrong?"

"letting you get some peace and quiet, i thought you were fed up with me, all week you clearly did NOT want to deal with me, so i got the hint and back down"

he comes into your room, with a face that to you was unreadable for now, you were straight up confused, why would he want your company now? He sits down besides you and slings an arm over your shoulders, "i've missed you, you know", you sat there suprised, "i wasn't angry with you dear" he sighs "i just had a shitty week, and you know i don't get over myself quickly". OH SHIT it's not my fault? for real?

"If anything this whole thing is my fault, i should have told you". Your heart immediately felt lifted off the ground, and a waveof relief hit you hard, but not as hard as the kiss that that Husk was about to give you. Seems that this old man can still charm you like no other.

I realllly hope the (nonsensical) "leaks" about 13 being in tomorrows episode arent true. And i REALLY hope 15 doesn't regenerate. Mostly because this season has not done much to justify it having a Big Epic regeneration/doctor cameo.

Idk if anyone else feels this way, but 15 has barely had any... characterization? I was really loving him this season and then the last two episode felt like such nothingburgers for him. Same with Belinda. Every episode i get excited to see her cus i reallly really like her character, only for Belinda to literally get pushed to the side for most of the last few episodes. Her only character trait is that she's a nurse? That was cool for thw first few episodes but its like the only thing we know about her lmao.

The story and engine and the eurovision episode pushed her aside for the first half of the episode?? And then in wish world she wasnt even allowed to regain her memory before getting disappeared? Ruby has ironically had the most character development and she's not even this season's companion.

Both Belinda and Ruby act like the Doctor's their bff, but show me evidence where that feels earned for their characters (hell, ryan sinclair felt more connected to the doctor than ruby and belinda)

I could chalk it up to 8 episode seasons being terrible for the show's storytelling, but that's not really an excuse. I think, from the last two seasons, there are maybe 2 or 3 rewatchable episodes? (In my opinion!!).

I guess this brings me back to my earlier feelings, which were that the show is more concerned with telling almost an anthology of stories (they really dont mesh well as a full season and the foreshadowing is SO chunky) where the characters are not the most important part of the story?

Idk, can anyone else pinpoint why these last two seasons have felt so off? They feel a bit substanceless and rushed through. There's no lingering.

And all of this is coming from someone that loved 13's run. That's how unsatisfying I've felt this run to be
