Why Changing Paths Doesn’t Mean Giving Up on Your Dreams
Life often throws us curveballs. We start with clear goals, imagining how our future will unfold. But sometimes, we find ourselves facing a new path. We may ask, "Am I giving up on my dreams by going in a different direction?" It’s normal to feel this way, but changing direction doesn’t mean abandoning your dreams—it can lead you closer to them.
The Pressure to Stick to One Path
We’re taught that success follows a straight line. Graduate, get a job, and keep moving forward. We compare ourselves to others and fear that veering off course means failure. But in reality, few people follow a perfect path. Many successful people look back and see how detours helped them grow and find new opportunities.
Changing paths doesn’t equal failure. It often means you’re adjusting to what you’ve learned along the way.
Reframing Change as Growth
When we change direction, we may feel we’re giving up on what we wanted. But, instead of seeing it as a setback, think of it as a chance to grow. Sometimes the path we choose early on is based on what we know at the time. As we learn more about ourselves, our dreams evolve.
Your original plan might no longer fit who you’ve become. And that’s okay. Changing paths can lead to new, even better dreams that match who you are today.
Dreams Change Over Time
Dreams aren’t fixed. As we grow and learn, our goals shift. The dreams you had yesterday may not be the same today. This doesn’t mean you’ve given up on them—it means they’ve evolved with you.
Your new direction might be part of a bigger plan that you haven’t seen yet. Trust that your journey is still moving you toward a fulfilling future, even if it looks different from your initial vision.
Embrace the Process
It’s natural to wonder if you’re making the right choice. You might doubt whether you’re on the right path. But often, the only way to know is to trust that the path you’re on now will lead to something valuable. Change doesn’t have to be feared. It’s just another step in your journey.
Your path is unique. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to success. Every twist and turn you make adds to your experience. Each change is a part of your growth. Even if you don’t see it now, trust that these steps are moving you closer to your dreams.

High control covens
There’s a new article from Storm Faerywolf on The Wild Hunt today talking about the warning signs of high control groups and covens. Members of these damaged covens are often instructed not to socialize with others outside the group, or lineage, or are otherwise told certain individuals to avoid. Information is often restricted; leadership oftentimes telling congregants that certain books or…

Forget the mountain, I'm headed for the beach: Exploring a Journal Prompt from Chapter 14 of "Changing Paths"
Happy Friday, dear readers! This Friday marks my exploration of the final chapter in Changing Paths by Yvonne Aburrow. I thought I’d offer a few musings on the following journal prompt from the book: Do you believe that all religions are paths up the same mountain, or up entirely different mountains? As I think about this question, I suppose that all religions might have the same goal in an…

Do you think instead of destroying statues and paintings of the traitor Primarchs the Imperium just repurposed them? Or far down the line when the memories have faded they were found hidden away and attributed to a loyalist Primarch? Did the returning Primarchs ever see such depictions and know truth but had to keep their mouths shut?
Did Guilliman ever see what he was told was a statue of Corvus Corax recovered damaged from a bombardment but knew instantly he was looking at Konrad Curze from a better time?
Was the Lion ever shown a governors private art collection and see a portrait of Sanguinius but with strangely pale hair and an odd tinge of purple peaking out beneath a thin layer of gold?
Personally I headcanon that this kind of thing is the in-universe reason for the Primarchs looking slightly different in various canon materials. Especially Corax sometimes having his hime cut and sometimes having a more Curze-like hairdo, it was a mix of the imperium trying to cover up the traitors role in shaping the imperium and later generations just forgetting.

I am riddled with ailments, but I stay silly!
#ask#non mdzs#My health journey has been: Hernia -> acid reflux -> Vocal pain due to aforementioned reflux -> chest infection.#I'm terrified to know what's about to hit me next. Please let it be something kind. PLEASE.#The consequence of living with linguists is that you'll wake up with a wacked up voice -#suddenly you're sitting you down in front of a program called something like Praat having your shimmer and jitter levels calibrated.#They gave me a GRBAS of 33012. I have a fun thing called a pitch break where a whole octave just does not exist.#My vocal pain was bad enough I ended up seeing a speech pathologist and that whole experience was super neat!#I learnt a lot about voice - to be honest I might make a little comic on it after some more research. Fascinating stuff.#For example; your mental perception of our voice modulates the muscles of the vocal folds and larynx.#meaning that when you do have changes (inflammation = more mass = lower frequency)#your brain automatically attempts to correct it to what it 'should sound like'. Leading to a lot more vocal strain and damage!#And it gets really interesting for trans voice care as well - because the mental perception of one's voice isn't based on an existing sampl#So a good chunk of trans voice training is also done with the idea of finding one's voice and retraining the brain to accept it. Neat!#Parkinsonial Voice also has this perception to musculature link! The perception is that they are talking at a loud/normal volume#but the actual voice is quite breathy and weak. So vocal training works on practicing putting more effort into the voice#and retraining the brain to accept the 'loud' voice as 'normal'.#Isn't the human body fascinating?#Anyhow; Now I have vocal exercises and strategies to reduce strain and promote healing.#Which is a lot better than my previous strategy of yelling AAAH in my car until my 'voice smoothed out'.#You can imagine the horror on the speech path's face. I am an informed creature now.#I'm my own little lab rat now. I love learning and researching. Welcome to my tag lab. Class is dismissed.#I'll be back later with a few more answered asks </3 despite everything I'm still going to work and I need the extra sleep.#Thank you for the well wishes! And if you read all of that info dump; thank you for that as well!

I have very strong opinions about disaster preparation as someone who lives in a tornado zone, where evacuation is NOT an option for anyone and the only way to definitely survive is to 1) be in a building that WON'T just get picked up AND 2) have a basement, cellar, or specialized tornado shelter.
The simple fact is that the majority of fatalities in tornadoes are people living in mobile homes/trailers and those deaths could be reduced massively if the government built tornado shelters in high risk areas. But there's been very, very little effort to do that and tornadoes are just getting stronger and more deadly while poor people are left to huddle in our bathtubs, listening to the sirens and thinking about easily we could die.
