A great example is kungpowpenis, since it requires 12 different blogs to do it properly.

This is the fundamental difference between Tumblr and other mainstream social media nowadays, not only for jokes, but how the site ecosystem works.

While in Instagram; Tiktok and twitter the most you can do is leave a comment (or quote retweet) most people just see a post, maybe like, and scroll to the next one. Those site's UI isn't design also enforce the lack of activity. example:

Twitter/Instagram/whatever - "oh cool a post about something i like, lemme check what other people said" -> click on the post -> be redirectioned to that post's "page" -> (wait it load) -> see other people's opinions

Tumblr - "oh cool a post about something i like, lemme check what other people said" -> open notes -> see other people's opinion

That difference, along with the existence of tags*, is fundamental to how Tumblr's ecosystem works, because it makes interacting so easy in comparison to other sites.

Another, smaller thing is, it is so easy to make a properly formatted post, alongside the fact that most people know only a small fraction of people will see this, so i didn't need to actually format it "properly" if i didn't want to.

*tags are another can of worms, since they make it easy and "personalizes" a post without being too disruptive. Idk how to explain it properly, but i remember seeing a post conveying it in a majestic way.

This very post i an example on the tag thing, both reblogs above mine have screenshots of tags in them, the first using them as a starting point to create an argument, the second simply reinforcing the idea the person who wrote those tags had.

(And as a final example, i probably wouldn't have took the time to write this if it weren't for this site's UI and its core idea.)

do not reblog someone else's starter calls

do not reblog someone else's headcanons

if a post's tags say do not reblog... don't reblog it

"mutuals only" means you have to be following each other to interact with them. they have to follow you, and you have to follow them before you can start sending memes or liking their posts

it is rude to follow someone and start liking their posts before they have followed you back

it's rude to follow someone and unfollow and refollow over and over to try and get their attention

if someone softblocks you, it's rude to try and ask why they softblocked you

if someone hardblocks you, it's rude to go around that block to try and talk to them and ask them why

"reblog from source" means please don't reblog this post from me. please go to the source of the post (the original poster) and reblog it from them

do not mass like posts on someone's blog. it can seriously disrupt their activity page

some people view it as rude to reuse plots or dynamics with multiple people, or reuse starters

you should always try to tag triggers wherever you can

make sure you have your name/alias and age somewhere easily accessible on your blog. some people will not follow blogs without an age, as they may maintain a 18+ or 21+ rule

Some people hate me talking back to the blog...

People have tagged me in accusations, so let's "clear the air," only naming people who named me. DON'T send hate.

In the week since I started speaking up against the confessions blog and mocking its anons, there's been a lot of panic in certain circles and hate thrown my way. I've shaded the blog itself and vaguely whoever runs, uses, and supports it, without knowing or suggesting who that is. Some people have taken it personally - @clubsoft even publicly accused me of running her friend out of the fandom. Now @letsgobarbs is trying to connect me to @ihateconfessionalblogs - I guess she thinks no one else has noticed or heard about her and her friends' public trainwreck of hypocrisy on AI.

And since @letsgobarbs tagged me in a post that spreads misinformation about AI, I'll clear that up, too. I've never read their friends' fic or accused them of AI. AI checkers should not have been used to publicly accuse people since we have no way of knowing how accurate they are. But instead of leaving it at that, these ladies want to carve out a specific explanation for their friend (without factual support), and this bullshit is circulating as truth.

They're spreading the notion that a fic is more likely to come back with a high % ai detected if the fic has been scraped by AI. First of all, everyone's fics are scraped for AI. AI models aren't trained by selectively scraping the fics of individual writers. And even if a fic is directly fed into AI, this doesn't somehow make it more likely to pop on an AI checker. I tested this theory on one of my fics that has been fed into AI relentlessly, and it came back 0%. If it had gotten a high %, the false positive wouldn't have been because it was scraped. That's not how it works.

Don't believe everything you read. Check sources.

Clubsoft's friend reached out after I responded to the hate I got from clubsoft's post about me. This was our second conversation -

I'm glad digital art has become a love for you once you got the right equipment for it. Your style rocks! Teachers seemed to be pro-realism and anti any stylization back then; I feel like I hear about that exact type of interaction all the time lol

Oldest (Kindergarten-4th Grade)

Still have some of my childhood art on hand! Look at my sick ass wolf. I've always loved animals, I've always loved horror games (+2 to your credit score if you recognize it. I must've been nine according to the release date...Don't tell COPPA 🪦), and yes, I still like ice cream.

I largely got into art at a really young age because my older siblings had notebooks with what were the coolest sketches to me. My brother drew Halo soldiers and my sister drew Pkmn, Invader Zim, cartoony scene girls, anything popular among teens of that era. And I was a quiet kid, so what better way to spend my free/play time than doodling between my pages of schoolwork. Then I got internet access and asked my parents for a tablet to draw fanart for my fav YouTubers haha

Ah...to be honest, 95% of my first online drawings are Warrior Cats lol. And the VERY first were probably wiped off the internet. I put them on DeviantArt and a forum that went defunct. Skipping those years, though, this is when I got heavily into kpop and started to draw people instead of animals. I'll also mention that, when I began to share art online, my #1 artist inspo at the time drew wrestling fanart. Funny how I made my way back to it! T'was destiny.

2018 (1st): Simple, cutesy stuff. No line weight, an intentional limitation. I had a hard time controlling it without straining my hand. Eventually, I bit the bullet and turned it back on since my style stagnation frustrated me. phew

2019 (2nd-3rd): Working more on my style, stylized anatomy, textures, all of that. Tried my hand at shading, too. Can you tell I like mermaids

2020 (4th-5th): Baby's first backgrounds! I subconsciously drifted to a more detailed style over the next few years as my skill and understanding improved. My subject matters really branched out, too.

I've dipped my toes into lots of different fandoms/interests outside of this blog, whether for myself or commissions, so I'll just share what seems relevant enough: pretty men 👍

Right now, I'm the most comfortable I've ever been with my style. Ofc I still struggle and have much to work on, but I'm happy that all of the practice over the years has made me more capable of capturing a variety of likenesses, poses, and expressions :o) Many art blocks and frustrations aside, it'll always be a very fulfilling hobby for me <3!

Ok here's a little thing i thought would fun for any artists to show off their progress at learning art (plus I'm nosey🤭).

Show off the oldest drawings you did (or the oldest that you can still find), the first things you were confident enough to upload online, and your most recent drawings and talk about them and show off how much you've progressed :)

Oldest Drawings I Can Find

Of course, the first is an OC. Never did anything with her tho. Notice the lack of forehead and elbows, the arms that barely reach the hips, how indishtinguishable each part of the body is from one another. They're a perfectly smooth pole. and of course those wings. This is the first thing in my first proper sketchbook when I decided I was gonna start taking art more seriously. This would have been when i started secondary in 2014 at 11 years old. And I can't find anything from before that, since I never kept anything in a proper book/folder.

Second image is another of the first drawings in the book. It was my first closeup of a face, and also my first time drawing anime. I know I'm not the only artist who was desperate to learn to draw an anime-style as a kid. I remember doing this while on holiday, trying to follow an online tutorial, taking about 4 hours to get the outcome I did, and getting so frustrated that I couldn't get it to look right, that I was almost brought to tears. I'm pretty sure this was one of those "I'm never drawing again! >:(" moments, lol. Looking back, it was a pretty good first attempt. But I guess I was always a bit of a perfectionist, lol. Funnily enough, while I carried the anime eyes forward in my art style for years, to this day, I still can't draw a proper full anime style character.

First Drawings I Uploaded Online

I put these on insta to show my mates from school. The first picture was an attempt at a close up face with the new brush markers i'd got for christmas. This was 2017 just before i turned 14. Pretty sure I copied the design from an art tutorial book, that was supposed to be hyper-realistic (another christmas present). But I just couldn't bring that to life so just did what I could. Also, first time I used a signature. My signature's very different nowadays cos it's based on my tumblr username and not me actual name. But yeah. I was tryna get more professional I guess.

Second pic is the first full body piece I uploaded a few days later. Again, used the drawing books trying to learn how to draw flowy clothes. Think it was a book about drawing anime clothes that I used for this (another christmas present). By this point, each body part could move seperately and had joints. Also note the anime eyes, cos my simpler-but-still-anime-inspired eyes were something I stuck with a long ass time. This was the style I drew most often, and could usually do without having references (but obviously for this drawing specifically, I had the reference for the clothes). Had a lot of trouble with perspective, so all my characters faced forward, and later they would always face a 3/4 angle. And they could never lean or reach forwards cos I just couldn't get that to look right.

Most Recent Pieces

The most most recent is on the left, being my most recent closeup of a face. Still has a cartoonish edge with the lineart but much more realistic. And I'm fucking with this semi-realistic look atm. Tbh I dunno if i'd have the patience for the tiny details in hyperrealism. Also, fun story, in 2021 when I was doing my a-levels, I did an art piece that we were free to do in any style we wanted, and my teacher saw mine and was like “I wish you’d done it as realism instead of a cartoon style :(“ but it was actually my best attempt at realism and she hadn’t even realised. So I dunno, maybe I’m not cut out for realism 😂😂 I like my style rn tho so who cares

Then I got my most recent drawing of a (almost) full body. I got joints and decent hands and proportions and more body details.

Also this last year is the first time I've really got into digital. I always used to just do pen and paper. I even got a cheap drawing tablet, but couldn't get used to drawing on one surface and the image being up on a seperate screen. So I could never get the lines right. I did draw on my old ipad for a while which was easier, but the stylus was one of those with the thick rubber ball on the end, rather than a fine nib. Again, I had trouble cos I couldn't tell where it would register the contact with the screen and draw the line, which made it hard to do details. I got a new ipad a little while back that supports apple pencil, so I got one for it. And it's so much easier now that I've got a fine nib and can see where I'm drawing. I'm in love with drawing digital atm.

But yeah. That's how i've drawn over the years. Mental to see how much my style has changed and improved :) makes me feel better when I get frustrated with a drawnig and think I'm shit. Cos I know I'm getting better with each new drawing, even if it's only baby steps.

These are my fallout ocs. I don’t feel like making three separate posts because then I can’t pin it. I’ve been adding to this whenever I get the inspiration.

My sole is a vampire who was turned back in the 1800’s he finally decided to settle down and have a kid only for the events in the game to happen, he has your basic vampire powers, turn into giant bat monster, hypnosis, super strength, super speed, enhanced hearing, he is terrified of his companions being afraid of him if they find out about his vampirism. Danse would depend heavily on if it’s post or pre BB for obvious reasons. If post bb they would argue but after some time and watching sole Danse would see how sole sacrifices himself for those he cares for. This would lead to him idolizing sole even more. Deacon would be the one who takes it the worst because he knows all of the old stories about vampires. Hancock is wary of him

Courier Six is a winged fey person (heavily themed after a Harrison’s hawk) who has amnesia from Benny shooting him he can hide his wings at will when hidden they appear as tattoos on his back. He’s in a relationship with Boone and Arcade, he had been interested in Boone for a while but Boone didn’t join the relationship until after bitter springs. Arcade and six hit it off right away with Six’s high intelligence, but Arcade often gets frustrated with Six’s habit of not communicating his plan well. He has many bird like mannerisms that he suppresses such as chirping and trilling, preening his friends, he can change his normal human feet into bird talons. He sees his companions as his family but because of bad experiences he doesn’t fully remember he is hesitant to show them his wings, he wants them to know that part of him but he knows that others haven’t accepted him in the past though he doesn’t know who.

When his companions find out some of them will blow up at him accusing him of keeping other secrets.(Cass) Boone stops talking for a few days and just thinks. Some will want to examine his wings and ask if he’s some kind of angel (Arcade, Raul, Veronica) Lily just goes with it and loves Six Regardless.

Preening his friends is a bit different for each of them because of personal differences, with Boone and Raul is more adjusting their outfits, and getting dirt and twigs and stuff off of them because they don’t have hair. And even then with Raul it’s more of patching him up. and with Boone it’s patching up the damage because that man will not be stopped from throwing himself into near death situations. Veronica is probably the like second easiest, just after Rex, because she is both very tactile and has long hair and actively wants an outfit change. Cass is more guarded and less tactile and so Six holds back a lot but sometimes he slips up and will brush dirt off of her back or something. Arcade is fascinated with Six’s behaviors and mannerisms so he lets Six do all of his bird preening and fussing over him,but the gets flustered by Six chirping and cooing while running his fingers through his hair or dusting him off. Lily asks the least amount of questions so he keeps his wings out with her more.He will always choose the Independent Vegas Ending.

Lone Wanderer is a werewolf who has never seen the moon or been in moonlight until he gets kicked out of the Vault. The only information he has on what he is a book on lycanthropy, he’s looking for his father for answers on top of everything else. He has claws, wolf ears, a tail, and fangs. On full moons he turns into a wolf that is a bit bigger than a Yao guai he is still himself but he can’t talk and he has increased instincts like hunting and protectiveness. He sees his friends as his pack. All of his companions find out by accident, some of them catch him mid-transformation and have to listen to his bones breaking and shifting,(Fawkes, Star Paladin Cross) some get attacked by something in the middle of the night and get rescued by this mysterious giant wolf that try’s to help them with their wounds and transforms into their companion in the morning,(Clover, Charon) and some get awoken by a giant wolf keeping a vigil near wherever they’re camping out that night and either panic and get scared or attack him.(Butch) He wouldn’t travel with Jericho cause he gave off bad vibes.

I am welcome to any questions about my characters. I actually would really appreciate any name suggestions for these three.
