sonadow fankid blast đĽ meet Breaker! his twin is up next đş
primarily takes after Sonic, taking over the day shift of watching Green Hills and the 'hero' mantle. beloved face. helps grandmas across the street. avid errand runner. has helpful big brother/camp counselor vibes!
đ At first I named him Breaker as a shorthand for 'daybreak' (his twin being named Dusk) and thought it was stupid (bc Sonic would name his kid something stupid) but the more i thought about it.. the more it worked.. windbreakerâŚ. circuit breakerâŚa breaker being a heavy sea wave connecting to Sonic's fear of water..breaks/brakes⌠mm wordplay
very aloof! enjoys life. loves hiking. he loves anything with a good view. prefers to take it a day at a time, if given the choice. has a curiosity and interest in the powers and skills of others
he's incredibly strong w/ powers including electricity + Chaos Control/time-space manipulation (and still wearing limiters)
he is extremely tactical with when and how he uses Chaos Control. Breaker wouldn't use his Chaos Control on new opponents, choosing to rely on speed and fistpower. If he did, he'd make it seem that he was just extremely fast getting places, using the shadows of his opponent and surrounding environment to slip between places
ever since he was a little, Breakerâs always come out on top. heâs always looked up to heroes, naturally- after all both their fathers were. and heâs settled into the role quite nicely, one of Green Hillsâ very own, and just as beloved. all the townsfolk know him, all the women fawn over him, a true bonafide role model. But even his twin brother Dusk wonders/isn't sure if thats really what he wants or if its simply a role heâs acclimated to.
Breaker has a bit of an iceberg to his character. Most people see the very top layer, what they see day-to-day of the young aloof Mobian heralded as "Sonic and Shadow's son". there's something else that goes on beneath..
his powers essentially distort him from living the same wavelength as others. Like that moment in Sonic Prime where Sonic is going so fast, time has essentially stopped for everyone else. Tapping into this power has led him to believe he is invincible in ways, but not entirely. he enjoys all the scuffs, he enjoys what life has to throw him, his friends, etc. It keeps him grounded. as a result, he has a curiosity when he finally gets to dance with danger one-on-one like the average Mobian. he appreciates any opportunity to throw himself into dangerous situations because he enjoys the thrill of possibly getting hurt, as the pain allows him to feel 'mortal'.
One of his core principals is that he doesnât want people hurt. He wants people safe. But sometimes it's unsure if thats the case or if its because he wants other people out of his way so he can set the stage between just him and his opponent.. and thus, minimize the collateral damage/cleanup.
He is rather tactical outside of battle too and does especially well in social settings. he already has the chops for it, being charismatic from the getgo- but he knows how to set people/things/his environment up in ways that would allow him to get that final push for things to successfully go his way without anyone being aware he had pulled any strings at all. he is incredibly observant, and always picking up on the finer details. his penchant for people-watching both comes in clutch as a both hobby he truly enjoys in the present and something that could help him in future instances. the "kill two birds with one stone" type. maybe three, if the winds decide it that way.
Whether Breaker wants to admit it or not, he cares about his image. Although his swagger comes quite effortless, he cares how the townsfolk perceive him, not just for the sake of vanity or narcissism but because he understands that people need an idol- they need guidance. That's what his dad was, and that's what he's for. It's what the stars were here for-- people had to look up to somewhere (or someone) for answers. He understands that he is something like a guiding light, a north star- but if they choose to refuse him, it's no skin off his back bc thatâs their choice. He doesn't interfere with the choices people decide to make for themselves.
Breaker is a weird paradox character. where he's direct and very upfront, he is also so incredibly indirect about stuff too. Bro's always contradicting himself which makes it very hard for anyone to really pinpoint just what he's thinking beyond what they might know from the "hero" image he shows off once they truly get to know him.
Being good is a choice for him. But it's a choice he doesn't think about and something he's trained himself to wholeheartedly believe is instinct, as he doesn't believe himself to be a bad guy (and he isn't!) But it's like making a lie real and true.
Breaker, like his brother, has his own brand of isolation. Because of his powers, he lives on a different wavelength to other people. Always looking things through a window. He can look close enough to pretend the glass isn't there, that he's with there with everyone else, but there still exists that separation. So he chases after whatever makes him feel 'alive' and in the moment with everyone else.

matsukawa + mark him? >:33
KNEE DEEP IN THE PASSENGER SEAT.
matsukawa issei x reader â 2k, suggestive, marking, hickeys, kissing, friends to lovers, seijoh 4 banter
âItâs not that big of a deal,â Matsukawa groans, pinching the bridge of his nose and scrubbing a hand down his face.
He takes a peek over at you where youâre sitting beside him cross-legged on Oikawaâs living room floor, back against the couch, as if to say, please back me up here.
You shrug, looking at Hanamaki. âI mean Mattsun hates her, itâs not like we have to worry about him relapsing back into the most toxic relationship of his life because she just so happens to be going to the same party as us tonight.â
Makki groans loudly, placing his drink on the coffee table with a little more force than necessary. Iwaizumi glances up from scrolling through his phone, brow raised.
âThatâs not the problem,â Makki sighs, tracing a finger through the wet ring of condensation left behind on the tableâs surface from the last time that he moved his can.
Oikawa smacks his hand, and Makki mutters something under his breath before pulling down the sleeve of his hoodie to wipe it up, and Iwaizumi barely glances his way as he flicks a coaster toward him.Â
âIâm not going to talk to her,â Matsukawa adds, reaching over to pick a piece of lint off of your top.
Fingers threading into his pale pink tresses, Makki glares at him. âThatâs my point. Youâre going to ignore her all nightârightfully so, sheâs an evil witch and I will disown you if you so much as think about making her my girlfriend in-law againââ
Iwaizumi cuts him off, âWhat the fuck is a girlfriend in-law?â
Matsukawa blinks, âI donât think thatâs how you use that wordââ
âANYWAY, youâre going to ignore her, and sheâs going to spend all night stalking around the perimeter of our group like a bloodthirsty wolfââ
âI need you to stop finding a way to insert a Twilight reference into every conversationââ Iwaizumi mutters.
âHow the fuck is that Twilight? Can everyone stop interrupting me? Mattsun, for fuckâs sake. She cornered me outside the bathroom at Yahabaâs last time and spent twenty minutes trying to Sherlock Holmes her way into finding out where your dickâs been latelyâŚâ He trails off, eyes going wide as he turns to look at you.
Your heart rocks violently in your chest at the implication, and you valiantly fight the urge to cast an accusing glance Oikawaâs way.Â
Because heâs the only one that knows youâre in love with Mattsun.
And if he told Iwaizumi and Iwaizumi told Makki and now Makkiâs about toâ
Youâre going to be sick.
Probably.
Maybe.
Not right here though, because throwing up on Oikawaâs new shag carpet (despite the fact that itâs the ugliest thing youâve ever seen) inches away from Mattsunâs feet would make this the most mortifying moment of your life.
(Not that it wonât be a record-breaking runner-up either way.)
Iwaizumi speaks up suddenly, a surprisingly thoughtful look on his face. âShe was always paranoid that the two of you were hooking up.â
You steal a quick glance Oikawaâs way, and he subtly shakes his head.Â
He didnât say anything.
He might be insufferable most days, but youâve been friends with him longer than anyone else in this room, and he knows what this secret means to youâ
But still, Iwaizumiâs statement is news to you. Itâs completely and entirely false and nothing more than a headline from your pathetic reoccurring dreams.
And itâs dizzying, the way your chest lurches as it sinks in.
Mattsun coughs.
âShe what?â you squeak out.Â
Makkiâs answering grin is downright predatory.
-
Ten minutes later, youâre sitting in front of Matsukawa trying to stave off the flood of warmth that blooms in your gut under the steady weight of his gaze. He runs a hand through his hair, eyes briefly darting somewhere beyond your shoulderâprobably to look at Hanamaki.
âWe have to leave soon, chop chop.â Speak of the fucking devil.
You swallow as your throat goes impossibly dry. âCanât we just like, hold hands?â you ask the pink-haired imp.
âHolding hands is easy, a foolâs errand,â he sighs dramatically. Like heâs reading a goddamn Shakespearean monologue. âA trashy hickey is forever.â
âA week, two tops,â Iwaizumi corrects him in a bored tone.
Oikawa sounds downright gleeful as he asks, âHow would you know, Iwa-chan?â
Iwaizumi grunts something back, but you donât hear him over the sound of Mattsunâs voice. âYou donât have toââ
Makki huffs in annoyance, throwing the small metal tab from his drink can at him, and Matsukawa catches it without looking.
âSheâs going to see the two of you together at the party, and sheâs going to see the big, sexy, dirty hickey on Mattsunâs neck like a big, obnoxious billboardââ
âI know a big, obnoxious billboard alright,â Mattsun mutters, only loud enough so that you can hear, and you snort.
ââand sheâs going to finally accept the fact that our dear, precious Issei wants nothing to do with her wicked, scheming ways, because heâs actually madly, deeply, passionately in love withââ
Mattsunâs head jerks up, eyes a little wide, but you donât have time to contemplate the look that crosses his face when Makkiâs suddenly cut off. Turning your head slightly, you catch sight of Oikawa tackling him to the ground.
Iwaizumi sighs, staring at them with all the interest of a man watching two bugs fighting in the dirt before returning his attention to his phone.
You look at Matsukawa again, taking the inner edge of your bottom lip between your teeth. âWhere should IâŚ.â
He breathes in slowly, eyes searching yours for a moment before he tips his head slightly, baring the left side of his neck. And if thatâs not enough to have sweat collecting in the center of your palms, you momentarily forget how to breathe when he spreads his legs, silently beckoning you to slip between them.
Warmth slides down your spine at how unnervingly natural it feels to crawl between Matsukawaâs legs, to put something into practice that youâve unfortunately imagined more times and in more ways than you can count.Â
Thereâs a brief moment where you wonder why you didnât just remain sitting beside him, why you didnât just lean in sideways and carry this out in a far more platonic positionâ
But then his hand brushes somewhere in the vicinity of your outer thigh, and all you can smell is the familiar scent of his laundry detergent, and suddenly you find that your lips are hovering barely three inches away from the smooth expanse of skin that makes up the side of his neck.
And Mattsun mistakes your hesitation for something else, a warm laugh rumbling in his chest and brushing down your spine. âBite as hard as you want, I like it rough.â
You know heâs joking.Â
Heâs trying to lighten the moment, to make you laugh.Â
To stave off the awkward hesitation thatâs probably written across every facet of your body language.
âbut all it does is turn the heat churning in your gut positively molten as his words confirm something you already had a feeling was true.
(Something that has your thigh muscles instinctively trembling as you fight the urge to squeeze them together at the thought.)
Matsukawa tenses beneath you for a moment when your lips meet his neck, and you stiffen in turn, waiting for the inevitable regret, the unrequited rejectionâŚ
His hand slides up your nape, cupping the back of your head in a way that he likely thinks is reassuring (in a way thatâs going to probably ruin you forever after this.)
âJust do it,â he encourages you.
So you do.Â
And you donât mean to get so into it.
But thereâs a starved, unreasonable part of your brain that takes over when you start to bite and suck at Matsukawaâs neck, alternating between rolling his skin between your lips and teeth and running your tongue over it after.Â
Every other bit of uncertainty fades into background noise when you feel Matsukawa react. When his shoulders go pliant, when his head tilts even more to the sideâbaring himself to you even further. When you swear you feel him push down on your head like he wants you to go harder.
When his free arm wraps around your waist and clutches your hip.
When his thighs press against you, caging you in (and thereâs a delirious, faraway laugh that bubbles up in the back of your head as you imagine that heâs holding you there, that he doesnât want you to stop).
When you bite and suck and lick andâ
âand he fucking groans.
âShould we really be watchingââ you think you hear Oikawa ask from somewhere behind you, followed by a yelp from him and a grunt from Iwaizumi.
Matsukawaâs exhale is downright ragged when you pull back slightly to observe your work, fingers clutching his shirt in an attempt to hide the way your hands are trembling.
âShould Iââ you start, more than a little breathless and not exactly sure what you even intend to ask as you stare down at the bruise thatâs already blooming against his skin.
Something possessive yawns awake inside of you, and you try to suppress the full-body shiver that dances down your nerves like spider silk.
Matsukawa stares at you for a beat, chest rising and falling, and he looksâ
He tilts his head the other way. âJust in case,â he explains, his voice like gravel.
This time, you hear the sound of footsteps padding across the floor and the patio door sliding open, and the room goes quiet other than the sound of your breathing as you press your lips to the opposite side of Matsukawaâs neck.
He inhales sharply, and you momentarily find yourself lost to the pull of gravity as he fully reclines with his back against the carpet and pulls you directly on top of him.
Your heart thunders in your chest as you realize that youâre now fully straddling Mattsun, fingers somehow finding their way in his dark, messy curls as you mouth at his skin in an attempt to match your first canvas. One of his large hands slides across your lower back, and scorching heat blooms through your shirt under the deceiving weight of his touch.
He breathes out your name, the sound reverberating in your eardrums alongside the sound of rushing blood, and he cups your cheek as you stare down at him, faces scant centimeters apart.
Your eyes dart to his lips, to the way theyâre parted slightly, and it takes everything in your power not to wholly collapse into him like a dying star taking its last brilliant breath when his thumb carefully strokes the hinge of your jaw.
He glances at your mouth in turn.
âI donât think thatâll leave a markââ you weakly start to joke.
âAre you sure?â he asks.
You swallow. âI guess we should test it out, just to seeâŚâ
Matsukawa stares up at you. âDo you want to?â Itâs a loaded question.
âYes,â you whisper.
Your lips have barely finished forming the word before Matsukawa flips you over without warning and pins you beneath him on the carpet, his mouth crashing into yours.
Youâre oddly thankful for the plush embrace of Oikawaâs ugly carpet as you sink into it, trapped between the multi-color fibers and the all-encompassing warmth of everywhere Matsukawaâs body is flush with yours.
An embarrassingly needy sound crawls up your throat when his tongue darts across the seam of your lips before slipping into your mouth to deepen the kiss. You unconsciously start to card your fingers through his soft hair and he groans into your mouth in turn, leaving a sticky trail of saliva between your lips with each slick, hungry kiss he presses to them.
âHey, we should probably get goââ the patio door slides open, and Makkiâs voice floats into the room.
Iwaizumi barks something at him, and the door slams shut, cutting off the sound of their bickering as Oikawa laughs.
But you can hardly hear itâ
Mattsunâs lips slow against yours, and he pulls back slightly, only to lean back in and press another lingering kiss to the corner of your mouth.
âHi,â he says.
You blink up at him, reaching a hand up to rest against his jaw, your thumb just barely skirting his bottom lip. He gently bites the tip of it.
âHi,â you whisper back.

2024 Senate Elections: You'd Better VOTE!
Yes it's election year yet again in America! but not just for President, almost as important will be the US Senate!
I'm not gonna lie this is a rough map for Democrats, we're playing a lot of defense in some pretty red states with even our best hopes for a pick up being pretty long shots. But even with narrow control of the Senate we've managed the biggest climate bill in American History a huge infrastructure bill thats bring high speed rail to America capped the price of insulin changed the law to allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices bring savings to everyone, and put over 160 federal judges on the bench, 2/3rds of whom are women and/or people of color the first time white men haven't been the majority of nominees by a President. So let's keep progress going by voting for, supporting, donating, and volunteering for the following candidates in the races that will decide the US Senate this year.
Arizona
Ruben Gallego (Hold)

After frustrating Democrats by repeatedly voting against major Democratic priorities, supporting the filibuster and putting donors over voters, Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema left the Democratic Party to become an independent in 2022. Democratic congressman Ruben Gallego was running to primary Sinema before she left the party and is now the likely Democratic nominee to unseat her and give Arizona the Democratic Senator it deserves. Gallego is a former Marine, combat veteran, Harvard grad, a former state representative, and since 2014 a member of Congress. Gallego is a member of the Progressive Caucus and is known for his blunt and combative style standing up to Republicans. In Congress Gallego has been a strong supporter of native rights advocating for tribes on health care and child welfare issues. Gallego is also the sponsor of a bill to bring about nation wide, free, all-day kindergarten which isn't available in many states. If elected Gallego would be Arizona's first hispanic Senator. Republicans hope that the Democratic vote will split between Sinema and Gallego allowing them to win this important seat. The Republican front runner is conspiracy theorist and Trump super fan, Kari Lake. Lake rose to national fame in 2021 for pushing conspiracy theories about Trump having won the 2020 election, as well as anti-mask and anti-vaccine Covid conspiracies. Lake was the Republican nominee for Arizona governor in 2022. During that campaign she ran on an aggressive anti-LGBT platform, saying she'd ban drag, and was against trans rights. Lake also is against Abortion in all cases. After losing to Democrat Katie Hobbs, Lake refused to concede, and still pushes the conspiracy theory that she's the rightful governor of Arizona. If you live in Arizona please make sure you vote, but more if you have any time between now and November, volunteer to help Gallego! and if you don't live there you can still Donate or buy a pro-choice shirt from his campaign!

Florida
Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (Flip)

Florida's current Republican Senator Rick Scott is a right wing extremist pushing dangerous ideas even by the standards of the Modern GOP. During his first term as Senator Scott has pushed to defund the IRS, and the Department of Education. He's sponsored bills to punish schools that allow students to use preferred pronouns, to ban affirmative action, bans teaching critical race theory, and ban trans people from women's sports. Scott is against abortion in all cases. Most alarming Rick Scott proposed a radical plan that would "sun-set" ANY and all federal laws after 5 years, including Social Security and Medicare, Scott would place all federal programs and agencies on the chopping block every 5 years for a radical Republican minority to block their renewal and leave us without Social Security, or the EPA, to name just two examples. The likely Democratic nominee is former Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. Born in Ecuador, Mucarsel-Powell immigrated to the US when she was 14 and had work to help support her family. When she was elected to Congress in 2018 she became the first South American born immigrant and first person of Ecuadorian heritage to be elected to Congress. In Congress Mucarsel-Powell was a member of the Progressive caucus, she fought to expand medicare, and secured $200 million for Everglades restoration. After a narrow defeat in 2020 Mucarsel-Powell joined the gun control advocacy group Giffords to fight for gun control a personal issue for her after her father was murdered when she was 24. If you're in Florida please make sure you vote, and Volunteer to help remove on of the most extreme Senators, If you're not in Florida you can help Debbie win by donating.
VOTE VOLUNTEER DONATE
Michigan
Elissa Slotkin (hold)

Long time Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow is retiring this election, so there will be a tough fight for control of this important swing state Senate seat. The likely Democratic nominee is Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin. Slotkin is a former CIA analyst, after retiring from the CIA she worked in the State and Defense departments during the Obama administration. Slotkin was first elected to Congress in 2018 winning and being re-elected in a tough swing district. In Congress she's fought for common sense gun control, supported the cap on insulin prices and Medicare drug price negotiation, she helped pass a law on drug price transparency, she championed the CHIP act to bring high tech manufacturing jobs back to America, and was a big supporter of Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Slotkin is centering a pro-choice message in her campaign as well as gun control and bring down medical costs. Who the Republicans will pick isn't totally clear, it seems like it's between Former Congressman Mike Rogers and former Detroit Police chief James Craig. Craig ran for Michigan governor in 2022 before he was disqualified for fraudulent signatures on his nominating petition. Craig has listed cutting off US support to Ukraine as one of his top priorities, and endorsed Trump's 3rd run for President early in the primaries. Mike Rogers is also trying to win over Trump voters and has attacked the rights of LGBT students in schools calling it "social engineering". If you live in Michigan make sure to get out and vote, and also volunteer! And for everyone outside the state you can donate or buy some merch.

Montana
Jon Tester (re-elect)

In most contexts Montana is a deep red state going for Trump in 2020 57% to 40%. This makes the reelection of Montana's only Democratic member of Congress and only statewide elected Democrat, Jon Tester maybe the toughest election for Democrats this year. A Senator since he was first elected in 2006 Tester has won a series of upset wins in Montana over the years. A 3rd generation farmer Tester has been as strong for small farmers and ranchers in Washington. Tester has always been a champion of accountably and transparency in government pushing ethnics and campaign finance reforms. Tester is rated one of the most effective senators and managed to pass more bills last year than any one else in Congress. He's never been afraid to stand up for the Democratic side even if it'd be an unpopular vote in Red Montana. Tester voted to impeach Trump twice, and he voted against all 3 of Trump's nominees to the Supreme Court. He supported President Obama on The Affordable Care Act and Dodd-Frank, and has supported President Biden on the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Republicans seem likely to nominate right wing influencer and former Navy SEAL Tim Sheehy. Sheehy promises to get drag queens out of schools and the Lord's Prayer in to the classroom. He also hopes to repeal Obamacare calling for a "total privatization" of health care and made statements against the very idea of health insurance, insisting people should pay full price at point of use. If you're a Montanan make sure to vote to re-elect a champion of the little guy, and also volunteer! if you're not please think of donating what you can, if you can only give to one campaign this cycle this one, or Ohio are the most important!

Nevada
Jacky Rosen (re-elect)

First elected to Congress in 2016 Jacky Rosen moved up to the Senate in 2018. In her first term as a Senator Rosen has championed green energy for Nevada. Together with fellow Democratic Nevada Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, Rosen has gotten millions for solar manufacturing in Nevada as well as millions to replace the state's school buses with electric, and programs to study new groundbreaking green technology. Senator Rosen has been a supporter of gun control, is in favor of banning assault weapons. She sponsored a bill, the Background Check Expansion Act, that would require background checks for all gun sales closing loopholes for on-line sales and gun shows. Rosen is pro-choice and has sponsored a bill to protect doctors from being prosecuted across state lines for providing reproductive care, and is a co-sponsor of a bill to codify Roe V. Wade into federal law. Rosen will likely face Republican celebrity and army veteran Sam Brown. Brown ran and lost a race for the Texas State House in 2014 and ran and lost for Nevada's other Senate seat in 2022. Brown stated he was in favor of getting rid of the Departments of Education, Transportation, and Energy. Brown is against Red Flag gun laws that allow police to temporarily remove fire arms from the home of someone deemed a danger to themselves or others. Brown also has refused to say if he supports a national abortion ban, but does say he's pro-life and wouldn't support any judges that weren't. If you live in Nevada make sure to get out to vote and volunteer to protect the state's green future and the right to reproductive care. If you're not in Nevada consider donating or buying some merch.

Ohio
Sherrod Brown (re-elect)

Ohio together with Montana represents the toughest re-elect for Democrats this year. The state went for Trump twice, elected a right wing radical, JD Vaince, to the Senate in 2022 and has had a Republican governor since 2010. To complicate thing more Democrat Sherrod Brown is one of the most progressive members of the Senate, regularly scoring along side Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren for the most left wing in the Senate. From the time he was first elected to Congress in 1992 Brown refused to take the Congressional Health Insurance until all Americans could be covered. Brown first supported a Medicare for all bill in 2006 and has supported different efforts to expand Medicare and health coverage. He was a key supporter of the Children Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Brown is a strong supporter of unions and has struggled his whole career to protect unionized manufacturing jobs in Ohio. He was one of the first Senators out on the picket line during the UAW strike of 2023. Brown's hard work has help make Ohio the center of a new booming lithium battery manufacturing in America, a green manufacturing future for the state. Republicans look likely to nominate former used car dealer and father-in-law of Republican Congressman Max Miller, Bernie Moreno. Moreno's main qualification seems to be having been endorsed by Donald Trump. He lists among his priorities "End Socialism in America" and "End Wokeness and Cancel Culture". If you're in Ohio make sure to vote to re-elect a progressive giant and volunteer too! If you live out of Ohio donate, if you're looking for the race where your dollar will matter the most, this one or Montana guys.

Pennsylvania
Bob Casey Jr. (re-elect)

First elected in 2006 Bob Casey famously beat incumbent Republican homophobe Rick Santorum by 17 points. Since first entering the Senate Casey has moved leftward on a number of issues. First elected as a pro-Gun Democrat since 2012 Casey has sponsored a number of bills to expand background checks, ban assault weapons, ban extended magazines, and well as supporting mental health funds for victims of gun violence. For a number of years Casey was called the last pro-life Democrat in the Senate, however in 2022 he came out in support of Roe V Wade and voted twice on bills that would have codified the right to an abortion into federal law. Casey voted against all 3 of Trump's Supreme Court picks and has long supported Planned Parenthood's contraception efforts with federal funds, seeing easily available birth control as key to reducing the number of abortions. In 2021 Casey published a plan he called "The Five Freedoms for America's Children" modeled after FDR's famous speech. He proposed automatically enrolling all kids in Medicaid, an expanded child tax cut, a federally supported college fund for all kids who's parents make under $100,000, expanded free school meals, more funds for head start and abuse prevention programs. Republicans are rallying behind Mitch McConnell's hand picked candidate, hedge fund CEO David McCormick. McCormick worked for the Bush administration during Bush's second term. McCormick's wife Dina Powell also worked for the George W. Bush administration and was a senior aid to Trump as well. If you're in Pennsylvania make sure to get out and vote for a solid Democrat out to solve child poverty in America and keep the Hedge Fund guy from Connecticut out, and Volunteer if you can. Remember you can donate where ever you are.

Texas
Colin Allred (flip)

Texas is currently represented by likely the most hated man in Washington, Ted Cruz. Republicans hate him, Democrats hate him more, he has a very punchable face, he might be the zodiac killer (thats a joke and meme). From shutting down the government in 2013 to try to overturn Obamacare, to leading the charge in Congress to overturn the 2020 election on January 6th Ted Cruz is a greatest hits of the worst parts of the Republican Party of the last 10 years. When Texas lost power in the middle of a historic ice storm in 2021 Ted Cruz and family ditched the state to go on vacation in Mexico, classy. Cruz in the Biden years has cast himself as a culture warrior fighting against "woke" publishing a book "Unwoke: How to Defeat Cultural Marxism in America" in 2023 to kick off his re-election campaign. Texas is a traditionally red state but things are starting to shift and in 2018 Cruz narrowly won re-election over Beto O'Rourke. Democrats hope with the right candidate they can turn Texas blue and beat the most hated Senator in America. Democrats think Congressman Colin Allred is the man for the job. Allred is a former NFL Linebacker for the Titans. After the NFL he went on to get his law degree from UC Berkeley, and work in the Obama administration. Allred was first elected to Congress in 2018, unseating a Republican who'd been in office since 1997 and becoming the first Democrat to represent the area in Congress since 1968. When Tammy Baldwin first ran for Congress in 1998 she was the first openly gay person elected to the US House and the first open Lesbian to serve in Congress. In 2012 she became the first openly gay person elected to the US Senate and the first Lesbian to be a Senator, she is still the only openly gay Senator. Through out her time in office Baldwin has been a tireless voice for LGBT rights, in 2022 she helped spear head the passage of the Respect for Marriage Act to help protect gay marriage, she's also a sponsor of the Equality Act to protect all LGBT people from discrimination. Baldwin is a progressive who was a member of the House Progressive caucus, opposed the Iraq War and supported impeaching Dick Cheney. In the House she introduced bills for a single payer healthcare system in 2000, 2002, 2004, and 2005. In the Senate Baldwin is regularly listed as one of the most progressive members, voting against tax cuts for the rich, supporting a bill to require companies to have workers on their boards, she sponsored a bill to create a public option in Health Care, and has supported gun control efforts. The Republican field to challenge Senator Baldwin is uncertain, but former Milwaukee sheriff David Clarke dominates the polls if he decides to run. Clarke's sheriff's department is accused a number of human rights violations from his time as sheriff, including allowing a prisoner to die of dehydration after 6 days without water in the Milwaukee County Jail. Clarke is a Trump super fan who has pushed conspiracy theories about mass shootings being fake, attacked Black Lives Matter, called Planned Parenthood "Planned Genocide", and called for the mass detention without trial of Americans because he believed there were a million ISIS supporters in America. If you're in Wisconsin make sure to get out and vote for a trailblazing icon and also volunteer if you can, all Americans can donate and support Baldwin wherever they are.

*steps on soapbox*
HELLO YES. I feel that when envisioning a young Emmrich, in addition to seeing a wet cat and a sweet puppy of a man who loves a little too hard, hasn't developed his fine technique yet, and cries at weddings we don't consider the eras of style he went through to get to us at nifty fifty- *coughcoughcough*... I'm always seeing young Emmrich with the moustache and I feel like that's a middle age 'I'm going to telegraph just how ridiculously queer I am' thing. I mean, adult hairstyle inertia is real, but I rarely see folks keep their facial hair the same from youth to middle age. Consider: - 'I cannot grow proper facial hair' peach fuzz mustache Emmrich, ages 17-24. - Pre-requisite soul patch phase Emmrich. A few months in there somewhere. - 'Ha! Ha! I CAN grow proper facial hair' cunty chops and Van Dyke Emmrich, complete with snippity-dos on the mustache, 25- ? (Floppy Regency hair optional) - 'Hey Ladies, Theydies, and Gentlemen' manicured stubble and curled mustache, didn't last long because while it looked HOT the itchiness was just... too much. - 'My girlfriend doesn't like the feel of facial hair on her inner thighs and neck' clean-shaven Emmrich, no portraits survive of this era. - Jaw-length hair, side parted and combed back neatly over the collar. - Romantic wavy cascade of side-parted shoulder length hair Emmrich, any time up until about age 35, when his hairline starts pulling a runner. Oh dear. - Whatever vaguely pre-1930s hairstyle he had going on in his 30s to 40s take advantage of the sheer aesthetic of his temples silvering just-so. If you don't dig these concepts, then please enjoy this photo of young Erroll Flynn:

Heyy, I'm obsessed with your writing, so I was wondering of you could write some more about Newt from the maze runner? Anything really, I love your style of writing and i'd love to hear more about a charcter I love! Thank you, <3
Hey there, thank you for liking my writing <3! And yes, I will write more newt because he is an absolute sweetheart. Hope you like it âĄĚ !
Fix me up.

Pairing: Newt x medjack!reader
Summary: Newt got hurt when the new greenie accidentally dropped a garden-hoe that scratched him and he only wanted you to patch him up.
Warnings: mentions of injuries, Newt being a bit dramatic, a few Glader language?, use of y/n, English is not my first language, mistakes should be present, apologies beforehand
Word count: 552
âââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
It was another normal day in the Glade. The familiar hum of activity filled the air as the boys went about their routine tasks. As you got up for the morning, Frypan waved you over from the kitchen area, a heap of fresh vegetables in front of him.
âY/n, mind giving me a hand with these?â Fry gave a smile, gesturing at the pile while you walked over.
Although you were a Medjack, you often found yourself helping around in the kitchen, chopping up vegetables and stirring up pots by Frypanâs side â he really enjoyed your company, since you knew how to handle food with decency instead of almost burning the whole kitchen down like the greenie he tried to train two months ago.
You picked up a knife and started chopping, the rhythmic sound of the blade hitting against the wooden board created a comforting background noise.
But suddenly, a commotion broke out near the garden. Raised voices and loud chatters made you look up, and without a second thought, you dropped the knife and rushed towards the noise.
As you neared the garden, you yanked past the small crowd of boys that surrounded the person in the middle â Newt. You were greeted by the sight of him, clutching his arm as blood slowly bled through the gaps of his fingers.
âIf youâre wondering, the greenie dropped a hoe and scratched him,â Winston gave you a nudge, his eyebrows raised slightly.
âThat doesnât look like a scratch to me, where the shuck is Clint and Jeff?â you shot Winston a glare after seeing the hint of amusement in his eyes.
âTheyâreââ Winston started but got cut off when Newt caught sight of you and immediately let out a dramatic groan.
âUghhh⌠it hurts!â Newt groaned again, his eyes flickering to you every couple of seconds, making sure that you paid attention to his⌠uh, âpainâ.
Newt started wincing and grimacing, exaggerating the pain of his arm. Clint and Jeff were there long before you, and they attempted to approach him once again, to try and help him with his injury. However, Newt kept swatting their hands away, shooting them glares and complaining loudly about the pain.
âStay back, youâll only make it worse!â Newt declared, throwing in a loud sigh for good measure. It rendered the two Medjacks speechless.
âOh, the agony! The absolute agony!â he clutched tighter on his arm.
To be fair, the cut was bleeding pretty badly, but you didnât expect a whole outburst followed by a meltdown from him. What did you expect? Perhaps more maturity from the second-in-command. And if the greenie wasnât already klunking his pants, he sure is now.
âAlright, move⌠move.â you pinched the bridge of your nose and finally decided to step in.
Newt sighed in relief, visibly relaxing and letting his guard down. âFinally, somebody who knows what theyâre doing.â
Clint and Jeff exchanged an amused look, some of the boys standing around rolled their eyes and chuckled before scattering about, returning to their tasks now that the theatrics were over.
âCome on, letâs get you to the Med Hut,â you shook your head while Newt started repeating a bunch of âow, ow, ow, owâ over and over again, seeking your sympathy. Hiding a little victorious smirk from your sight.

Let me take care of you
Newt x f!reader (clint x jeff mentioned- if you don't ship it just ignore it lol)
2,8k
Summery: newt accidentally overhears you talking about liking him but he thinks you were talking about minho
Request: Hello can you do a newt x fem!reader when the reader is a medjack and talk about (I forget if itâs Clint or Jeff) how she is love with him but she didnât realize he was behind her ? Please
Misunderstandings; hurt/comfort, angst
A/N: okay this escalated pretty quick into angst whoops
Can be read as a part 2 of 'let me help you'
It was a usual morning in the glade. The runners were getting ready to start their rounds. Alby started to wake everyone up and frypan made breakfest ready.
You and jeff on the other hand were already in the med-hut to check up on a slicer who almost got his arm chopped off yesterday. Jeff held his fingers to the boys neck.
"He's still alive."
You hummed in relief.
"Lost much blood?"
You collected the things to change the bandage on the young boys arm.
"Nah seems pretty good."
You handed jeff a container of warmed up water and a cloth. "Thanks" jeff muttered as he began removing the blood soaked bandage from the arm. You sat down next to the bed and gave jeff a helping hand whenever he needed.
"How are things with clint?" You gave Jeff a teasing grin. Jeff sighed.
"There are no 'things' between me and clint." But he gave up long ago to deny it convincingly in front of you.
"You looked shucking cute cuddled up yesterday evening." You grinned as you took the dirty cloth and water bowl from him.
Jeff scoffed. "Oh yeah what about you lovebirds then? I'm pretty sure you two were the ones cuddled up. Half the glade was probably jealous." He took the new bandage from your hand. A blush coated your cheeks but you smiled softly at the memory. "Yeah we were quite close yesterday."
You realised that the boy jeff was currently treating was still fast asleep. "Nothing wakes him up does it?" You pointed to him.
Jeff chuckled. "He sleeps like a rock. But don't try to distract me. I'm telling you, you need to ask him out."
"Because you're the expert in that?" You raised your brow.
Jeff rolled his eyes and sat down too after finishing the bandage. "No. Because it is so clearly obvious to everyone. Do you know why the boys don't try anything anymore with you?"
You blinked confused. "No...?" "Newt threatens them. They're afraid they'll be banished or beaten to a pulp if they try something with you."
You were speachless for a moment. "What...? No newt doesn't do that... I know he's protective. That's why they set up the rules but he never uses violence."
"Well he does when you are involved. You remember how gally was brought in with a bashed in face? That was newt. Gally, as gally is, apperently said a lot of disrespectful stuff about you which he could not tolerate."
Your heart beat a bit faster. Newt did this for you? You knew newt avoided violence and stuck to order as much as he was capable off. And that he completely neglected these believes as soon as you were involved was weirdly...sweet.
"So I'm telling you- he cares about you very deeply. Almost concerningly so. And everyone of the boys is aware how you two look at eachother."
You couldn't contain your bright smile. "I never knew that. That is very sweet." You sighed dreamily. "He's just so adorable."
Jeff laughed quietly. "I tell you he's beaten someone up and you call him adorable?"
You glare at him with a pout. "You know that's not what I mean. He's just- so handsome. Even when his hair is touseled of sweat at the end of the day. I don't know how he does it. I could listen to his voice all day too. Every time I see him I just want to squeeze him out of excitment."
"I'm sure he is." Jeff muttered with a grin.
"He always looks out for everyone and rather neglects his own needs than others. I'd rather he wouldn't but I like that about him. He also has everything in control. I mean alby is the leader but he's the leader in the background. He always notices when something is wrong and asks about it. When he laughs he has these really cute crinkles on his nose. Sorry I'm rambling."
Jeff leaned forward. "Then do something about it. Honestly in the eyes of everyone you're already-"
Newt cleared his throat as he stood awkwardly in the doorway of the med-hut. He had walked in a minute ago and heard you talking about someone. At first he thought you might actually be talking about him but his self-consciousness told him you were probably talking about minho. You two always were so close. Minho was a phisical guy. He was muscular. Had great humor. Of course newt understood why you'd fall for minho. After all it was his best friend. But it still stung. A lot.
Newt didn't mean to eavesdrop but he couldn't really find a good moment to interrupt until he couldn't stand hearing more.
His face showed a friendly expression but his eyes wouldn't meet your face.
You on the other hand were turning around to look at newt with wide eyes. You didn't know how long he stood there. How much he heard. If he even heard anything so you tried to slow your heartbeat and act normally.
Jeff glanced between you two as if he was watching a very interesting story unfold before his eyes.
"I uh. I need to get some supplies for the runners. They're about to start. But maybe you'd like to bring it yourself to minho?"His eyes were lowered to the ground.
"Yes of course. No problem." You hastily stood up and collected the small supplies for the runners. As soon as you finished speaking newt was already gone again.
You stilled as you realised this and turned to jeff with wide eyes. "Do you think he heard?"
"He heard something."
"Why did he storm off then?"
Jeff raised his shoulders. "You should probably go talk to him."
***
You did try and talk to him but after the encounter Newts behavior changed. He clearly tried to avoid you. He was a lot more in his room. Even locked up so alby couldn't get in to sleep. He almost worked aggressively hard as a track-hoe. Not stopping to work at dinner time and starting to work before the others were even up.
The others noticed too of course. Newt was the glue after all. Without Newts full help the glade got into a more chaotic state. Alby needed to scream around a lot more. He even seemed to be angry at newt for acting this way.
He didn't come to the med-hut anymore. Neither for his limp nor to pick you up for sleep.
For you and frankly everybody else it was a unreasonable change of behavior. You knew the things he overheard in the med-hut were the trigger for this but you could not fathom why he'd be so distraught because of it.
But to Newt it was perfectly reasonable. You were in love with minho and the latter obviously in love with you. The whole glade seemed to be. You were the only girl. What chance did he have.Newt saw it clearly. You always were with minho. Sometimes even disapearing with him into the woods. He didn't even want to think about what you did. You always kissed minhos cheek. Hugged him a lot. Minho always flirted with you.
And it was even worse that minho was his best friend. He loved minho dearly. They've been through everything together. And he couldn't bare the thought of losing you both when you two were so close.
This reaction to the pain he felt in his chest may have seemed overdramatic to a outsider but to newt it wasn't only about 'not getting a chance with you'. It made him realise that the love he felt for you, the hope you gave him, was all in his head. He needed your love. Desperately. And he didn't know how to cope without it again.
This worried you. A lot.The behavior reminded you of the time after his incident. How you first got to know him after waking up in the glade. He seemed broken then and he did now.It made you realise that nothing really changed about newt. He was still that small kid that you first met.
What worried you even more was his self-harming behavior. Not taking any consideration about the state of his body.
He didn't stop working even when alby told him to. Sometimes he didn't show up for dinner because of it. You always took a extra ration from frypan and brought it up to his room.
You knocked softly on the locked wooden door. "Newt?" There was no answer. "Newt I brought you dinner. You need to eat something."
Silence.
You almost layed the plate down in front of the door again when the door opened a bit.
Newt couldn't help but take that glimpse of your care.
You gave him a smile. "Hey." You held the plate out in front of you. "Here. You missed dinner."
Newt took the plate from your hands hesitantely and scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "Thanks."
Before he could close the door again you held the door open with your foot. "Newt what's wrong? I know I've been asking this constantly the last few days but I worry about you. The whole glade does. You're not acting like yourself." Your voice was soft.
He shrugged carelessly. "Maybe I just have my period." He tried to joke. You were glad he attempted a joke again. But you also knew it was his way of distracting of the matter at hand.
You gave him a look. "We both know that is not the reason."
Newt sighed. "There is nothing wrong. I'd like to sleep."
You scanned his face desperate for a answer. "Is all this about what you heard me talking about?"
Newt froze up. "I never heard anythin'. Good night." He closed the door and locked it. He leaned his back against the door and took deep breaths. Blinking away tears. The situation didn't stop him from defending you though. On the contrary. He got more angry. More irretable. The usual calm and collected newt was overcome with a more emotional one.
Minho and alby gave you a explicit instruction to get throught to him at breakfast table that morning.
And you were determined to do so today. This has been going on for a few days too long for your liking. When you made your way over to the gardens in search of him the sign you were met with made a stabbing pain in your heart. Newt was working in the garden as usual. Pulling vegatables out, getting new fertilizer, sowing new ones. You normally loved watching him work. But today the pain was evident on his face. His limp finally catching up with the pressure he was constantly putting on it. You saw him stumble a few times but he pushed through obviously.
Until he just...collapsed. His leg gave out under him. You could see him staying layed on the ground. His face on the earth. Exhausted. Suddenly his lanky frame you oh so loved looked a bit too skinny for your liking.
You hurriedly made your way over to him. When he noticed you he tried to scramble up fastly which only made his limp buckle under his weight again. He cursed under his breath. You kneeled down beside him and gripped his arm and a hand around his waist. "Shuck newt. What are you doing..."
"I'm fine. I'm fi-" he struggled to get up again with the few strength he had left.
You pulled him down against you by the waist again. "Stop it." There was a plea in your voice. "Stop it newt. You're hurting yourself."
He still struggled against your hold. "Let go. There is nothing...wrong" his voice cracked.
You didn't let him go. He turned his head away from you as a tear rolled down his cheek and he started to shake slightly.
Everything hurt him. His body. His mind. Only your soft touch gave him comfort.
"Shh." You turned his head to you gently. He didn't meet your eye but you could see in them the pain he was in. You wiped the tear away with your thumb.
"Come on. I'll take care of you." You stroked a dirty strand of hair out of his face and helped him stand up. A lot of his weight leaned on you as you led him into the med-hut. Clint looked up startled when he saw you carry a half limp newt in.
"Out." You ordered him but added a thankful smile.
Clint nodded with a glance at newt and scrambled out of the hut. Newt let himself fall down onto a bed. You took a blanket and tucked him into it, started to boil water on the fire and pushed another pillow under his head.
"I will be right back. Don't go anywhere." Newt watched how you gave him a sweet smile and made your way outside again. You came back with a bowl of food and a bottle of water, shut the door to the med-hut to build as much privacy as possible.
You sat yourself down on the side of his bed and showed him your loot. "What do you want?" A loving smile thrown his way.
"Carrot" he cracked out.
You put the rest of the food aside and handed him the carrot. He moved up to rest his back against the wall and hesitantely began to eat the carrot under your careful watch. The silence engulfed the room for a while only the cracks of the carrot being heard.
You made a heating pad with the boiling water meanwhile and pulled the leg of newts trousers up to gently lay the warm pad onto his throbbing knee.
You did what you always did. Care for him. Take care of him. He had missed this terribly. But he hadn't forgotten what had happened.
He looked at you a long moment. Watched your every move. He felt like he hadn't been able to look at you proberly for way too long. "Do you-" he swallowed. "Do you like my voice too?" His voice was timid. He wasn't sure why he chose that detail to ask.
"What?" You ask perplexed and looked up at his face.
"Nevermind" his voice was still raw.
"Of course I like your voice. How do you come to that question?"
Newt didn't know how to answer that question so he stayed silent.
You sighed and slid nearer to him on the bed. "Newt what's wrong? Please tell me. You are in a horrible condition. I'm worried. Everyone is worried."
"I- heard you. The other day. Talking about minho. You should give him a go if you feel that way about him."
You blinked. To you his talk was making none sense at all.
"but uh-" he swallowed. "Can I still come to you if you...?"
You frowned. "I'm not sure what you're talking about newt. Of course you can come to me. Always. You know that. But what has this to do with minho-?" The words now registered completely in your brain. "You think I was talking about Minho?"
Newt looked away painfully. "Yes I suppose it was obvious for a while..."
You shook your head in realisation. "Newt."
His eyes snapped up to yours. "I wasn't talking about minho. I was talking about you."
Newt thought he hadn't heard right. "W-what?"
"Yes. I mean minho is great. I love him too. But he's not you."
"You like all that about...me ?"
"Of course. You are...amazing." You laughed quietly.
Newt was speechless.
Your heart was beating a lot more faster than normally but you tried to ignore it. Taking a deep breath. "May I...lay with you?" You whispered.
He never wanted- needed anything more. But his brain was in freeze and he could only nod his head.
You cautiously layed down next to him and crawled your body under the blanket too. You were very clode to eachother. You could feel the presence of his body next to you. He felt himself relax in the presense of your body next to him. Your small breath tickling his cheek.
You decided to let your instincts take over and slid your hand around his waist gingerly. Newts body tensed up and he sucked in a small breath at the sudden contact.
"Thank you." He breathed out. His body relaxing again.
"For what?" You whispered.
"Loving me. Pulling me out. Caring for me. Without you I'd probably would have taken another go at that jump long ago." His self humor shone through.
You smiled but lightly squeezed him. "Don't joke about that. I'm glad you feel that way. Thank you too."
"For what?" He retorted my own question back.
"Being you. Looking out for me. I heard the boys were threatened by you?"
A blush formed on his cheeks. "Yeah they were saying disrespectful stuff and I can't let them wander around thinking they can try whatever they want with you."
You smiled. "Always holding the order up."
"It's my job." You looked at his big brown eyes.
"Please don't punish yourself like this again. Don't shut yourself off like this. I'm not sure why you're punishing yourself. You don't have to tell me. But I don't want you to do it. Please? At least talk to me."
"I'll try."

want you, need you - minho
Ever since you became a Med-Jack, Minho can't seem to stop collecting random injuries that absolutely require your attention. You might be catching on.
masterlist
The Med-Jack hut is either overwhelmingly busy or frustratingly slow, no in between. There are days when every single room in the place is crammed full of patientsâ somehow, every Slicer manages to cut themselves, and every Builder breaks a boneâ and you wish you had picked any other job than this one. The busy days are rough. You start wondering what might happen if you stopped being able to put people back together as quickly as they fall apart. You think about the endless cycle of injury and healing until everyone wears out entirely, a map of bandages and skin pressed thin like dead leaves.
Those are the hopeless days. Then, youâll have a dry spell, when everyone manages to get their stuff together and no one complains of sprained ankles or excessive sunburns. At that point, you start twiddling your thumbs and mindlessly organizing and reorganizing the medical supplies. By the end, you almost start wishing people would get hurt just so youâd have something to do. Itâs an uncharitable thought, certainly, and one you regret once youâre stuck in the middle of another hurricane of aching Gladers, but when thereâs nothing else to do, it comes nonetheless.
Youâve found yourself in the middle of another boring week. For the past few days, the Slicers have remembered how to hold their knives so they chop the animals and not themselves, the Builders hit their nails with their hammers instead of their thumbs, and the Runners donât give themselves cramps and stay in perfect health.
Well. Not every Runner.
Even during the most boring stretches of your admittedly short career as a Med-Jack, you can guarantee that youâll have one specific patient. Just like clockwork, every few days a certain dark-haired, teasing someone shadows your door, complaining of overworked tendons, pulled hamstrings, heatstroke, and every other medical condition under the sun. If Minho can think it up, heâll say heâs got it.
Itâs honestly becoming ridiculous. For someone whoâs such a capable Runner, it is truly remarkable that he survives so many ailments. One would think he would give up running entirely if it gave him this much grief. Yet every day, Minho sets out for the Maze with a cheerful disposition, and at least two times a week, he appears in the Med-Jack hut, sporting some new injury that materialized at some point during the day.
So, when you look up from labeling the medicine cabinet for what must be the dozenth time this month, and realize that you havenât seen the Keeper of the Runners in a few days, you know that itâs about time for him to come down with the flu, a severe migraine, or maybe both at once.
True to form, youâve barely finished going through the medications on one shelf of the cabinet when Jeff, one of your fellow Med-Jacks, comes into the room. âYou have a patient,â he says impatiently. âGuess who?â
You roll your eyes, although you canât help a small smile. âCanât you handle Minho yourself?â
Jeff gives you a look. âI tried. He told me he wanted to wait for a professional. Figures.â
You snort. âYouâve been here longer than I have.â
âI told him that,â Jeff complains. âThis might surprise you, but he didnât care.â
âTell him again,â you say, turning back to the pill bottle youâre labeling. âIâm busy.â
Jeff heaves a dramatic sigh. âIâm not wasting my time with that. Heâs your problem, go fix him.â
You shoot him a confused glance. âWhatâs that supposed to mean?â
âYou know exactly what it means,â Jeff retorts, reaching over to grab the bottle out of your hands. âEver since you started here, Minho randomly comes over all the time. You know he used to hate visiting the Med-Jacks before you arrived? Now he canât stop showing up.â
âThat doesnât mean anything,â you protest weakly.
Jeff sighs again, so deeply you swat him on the shoulder. âThatâs klunk and we both know it. The data doesnât lie, Y/N.â
âThereâs no data,â you argue, but Jeffâs already waving you out of the room.Â
You make a face at him, then go down the hall until you find Minho waiting in one of the smaller rooms meant for patients. Heâs poking at some supplies on a small table in a corner of the room, but he straightens up excitedly when he sees you.
âDoc! Iâm so glad youâre here.â
You fight the urge to roll your eyes. âWhat have you done to yourself now, Minho?â
âThatâs no way to treat a patient,â Minho frowns exaggeratedly. âWhatever happened to bedside manner?â
âYou got bedside manner the first ten times you showed up for no reason,â you tell him pointedly. âAfter that, you get whatever I feel like. You should be happy Iâm still giving you bandages. We only have so many, you know that? Maybe Iâll start charging you a fee.â
âI can pay,â Minho says lazily, leaning forward so you can feel his breath hot on the side of your face. One of his hands starts to curl around your side, pulling you closer to him.
Dangerous, he is. You idly push him away with your palm, pretending to examine the supplies heâd been poking at earlier so you have time for the heat to leave your face. âHow about you just tell me whatâs wrong with you this time?â
Minho sighs dramatically. âWell, since you care so much, Iâll have to tell you that Iâve broken an ankle. It hurts so bad. This might be it for me, Y/N.â
You arch a brow. âWhich ankle?â
He pauses a moment, thinking. âLeft.â
âYouâre standing on it just fine right now,â you point out.
Immediately, Minho shifts all of his weight onto his right leg, grabbing the back of a nearby chair for support. âNo, Iâm not. Look, I canât bear the pain. It hurts.â
You just look at him. Minho looks back at you, unable to stop the corners of his lips from curling up into a proud half-smile. âDo you really expect me to believe that?â You ask.
He gasps. âY/N. Are you trying to discredit your own patients? Some Med-Jack you are. I bet Clint would trust me.â
âThen go talk to Clint,â you say, making for the door.
Minho hurries over, flinging out an arm to close the door before you can open it. âWait, wait. I didnât mean it, sweetheart. Youâre the only Med-Jack for me, I swear it. Clint is nothing to me.â
You take an obvious glance towards his feet. âThat ankle sure seems to be healing fast, huh? You moved over here like it was nothing.â
Minho leans his back against the door. âAlright, you got me. Nothingâs wrong with the ankle. Still, my lungs have been feeling exhausted lately, that might be somethingââ
âThatâs because you run everywhere,â you say, grinning in spite of yourself at his antics. âCome on, Minho, youâll have to get a better excuse someday.â
âMy bad for wanting to see you,â he returns. âI feel like I havenât talked to you in forever. I miss you,â he adds a little quietly.
It makes you smile in earnest this time. âSo youâre here to be a good friend, then.â
âYeah,â Minho says, and you might be kidding yourself but you swear he sounds almost disappointed, âA good friend. Thatâs me.â
You tap him gently on the arm to get him to move from the door. âHow about I promise to find you straight after my shift ends, and you agree to leave without using any more of my medical supplies? Jeffâs going to kill you if we run through anymore bandages, I swear it.â
Minho pretends to think this over. âStraight after? You promise?â
âI promise,â you repeat. âSo? Do we have a deal?â
âWe do,â he intones solemnly, and at last lets you open the door and usher him out, but only after extracting one more promise that you wonât delay to talk to Newt or anyone else once Jeff lets you out.
When you get back to the storage room, you find Jeff waiting for you, grinning knowingly from ear to ear. It bothers you for some reason, not the fact that heâs on this topic again but worse, the thought that he might not be entirely wrong for it.
âWipe that look off your face,â you mutter.
Jeffâs grin just broadens. âHow was your star patient?â
âFantastic,â you assure him, âAnd Iâd be fantastic too, if you could stop bothering me with whatever weird thing youâre thinking about right now.â
Jeff shrugs exaggeratedly. âOf course. I donât know why anyone would think about Minho being unable to go three days without talking to you. That would be crazy.â
âIt would be,â you add darkly. People in the Glade have said that you have a tendency for killer death stares. However, Jeff seems to be impervious to it, because he just keeps sitting there, proud as anything, as if he were in the right about this.
As if. This isnât the first time your friends have tried to suggest thereâs something going on between you and Minho, and the honest truth is that nothing has happened at all. Yeah, Minhoâs your best friend, and yeah, your days are significantly better when you see as much of him as possible. What about it? It doesnât mean a thing. Life is hard. If you want to talk to the boy who makes you laugh like no one else, you should be able to do it in peace.
You canât deny that the rumors stay on your mind, and recently, you havenât been able to deny them with as much conviction as usual. Youâre not blind, Minho is good-looking, and maybe you start thinking about something past friendship when he makes another excuse to get in your personal space when youâre sitting together by the fire or walking through the Glade.Â
Youâd be lying if you said you hadnât thought about it before, but as good as it might be to have Minho in every way that matters, youâll still be perfectly happy with just the one. You canât risk your friendship, even if, two drinks of Gallyâs brew into a Bonfire Night, you start thinking about what it would be like to kiss him, or worse still, when Minho drops by the Med-Jack hut again, you convince yourself that maybe heâs not just doing it because heâs a good friend but because he wants you just like you want him.
It canât be, though. For one thing, Minho is notoriously confident. If he liked you, he would have told you by now. Youâve seen him argue with Gally for the fun of it, not to mention the fact that he chose to be a Runner of all things. Minho lives on a constant adrenaline rush. Compared to what he does on a daily basis, confessing his feelings has to be nothing major. If he wanted to tell you, he would, and he hasnât, so obviously there isnât anything to tell at all.
For another, and this might just be in your own head, but Minho is so brave and capable that he seems to eclipse everything around him. Maybe itâs just the force of your own perspective, but you swear the entire Glade orbits around him. When he gets back from a run, heâs immediately swarmed by Gladers asking him about how it was, if he saw anything important. Heâs always the first person people talk to, the immediate choice for a dinnertime companion. Minho could have anything he wanted in the Glade. So why would he want you?
Youâve managed to force the whole thing from your mind as best you can. Minho is your friend. At least you can have him like that, even if it kills you sometimes to look at him and imagine all the ways you would love him if he would just give you the chance. Any good medic can keep their feelings internal when they need it, and youâre the best there is.
You meet Minho later that night as promised, and you do your utmost to pretend everything is normal. You stay with him until the sun sinks below the horizon, until the Doors slam shut, until the moon begins its familiar path across the sky. You talk the whole while, idle chatter that occasionally drifts off into comfortable quiet. Youâve never been able to do that with anyone before, feel so at ease that you can stay silent for minutes at a time and have it not be awkward, but with Minho, itâs so simple. Then again, you can hardly remember anyone at all. Maybe there was someone in the past who mattered to you just as much as Minho does now. Even without your memories, though, that feels impossible. Minho could have no substitute, not to you.
Youâre expecting the next day to pass in a breeze of idle hours, but around midafternoon, your dreary day of organization and the occasional bad paper cut is harshly interrupted by the sound of chaos outside. Thereâs shouting for a Med-Jack, and then several people are rushing someone in. Itâs a Runner, apparently, you hear the details as you run for supplies. The Maze started moving during the day and he got hurt.
You can tell from the way people start nervously looking at you that itâs bad. At first, they donât say any names, but then you burst into the chamber that serves as your operating room and you know that itâs worse than you could have possibly imagined, for not only does it seem like thereâs enough blood to drench the Glade, but the victim isnât Ben or one of the other Runners, itâs Minho. Your Minho. Your Minho, bleeding out on your table, who will need you to save him.
You stand there for one fragile moment, drenched in horror, then spring into action. Clint and Jeff have surfaced by now, and you direct them to anesthetize Minho. You want him to feel as little of this as possible. After carefully cutting open his shirt to determine the source of all that awful blood, you determine that itâs not as bad as you thought, more of a broad surface wound than a deep puncture. That much blood loss is dangerous, though, and heâll need several stitches to close the flesh.
About an hour and a half later, youâre done. You and the other Med-Jacks lean back, panting heavily. Your hands and clothes are smeared with red, but color has crept back into Minhoâs cheeks, and heâs starting to breathe evenly again.
âHow long until he wakes up?â You ask Clint.
He checks a nearby clock, then Minhoâs pulse. âFifteen minutes, probably, but he wonât be fully conscious for up to an hour.â
You nod. âThatâs good. Clear out, you guys. Get some rest.â
Jeff stops by you on the way out. âYou can stay with him if you want. Heâd be glad to see you when he wakes up.â
You let out a slow breath. âThanks, Jeff.â
He pats you on the back then leaves to wash up. You spare the time to scrub your hands and get on a fresh change of clothes, but head back to Minho as soon as you can. Ben was with him when the accident happened, he said that everything happened so fast he hardly knew what went down. You donât want Minho to wake up alone and confused, covered in bandages and unable to shake the scent of blood.
Once the immediate danger is over, youâre left sitting in a chair by Minhoâs cot. His chest is swathed in bandages, but no red has flowered through them yet, which is a good sign. As you watch, the fingers on his right hand start to twitch. Clint said he would start to stir around now, and youâre glad to see the signs of movement. Watching him thereâ so still, so motionlessâ it made you wonder if he would wake up. It made you wonder if there was any way you could survive if he didnât.
Minho is starting to make small sounds of distress under his breath, so you lean over and take his hand, squeezing it carefully but comfortingly. âHey, hey. Itâs me. Youâre safe.â
You hear the ghost of your name in his whisper, and then Minho starts to quiet down again, restless rustles turning back into quiet breathing. You check his heart rate with your free hand and are glad to see it returning to normal, shaking off the lethargy of the anesthesia.
Minho sleeps for a little longer. Afraid to upset him, you keep your hand in his. You can tell when he wakes again, because his fingers start to press against yours. Consciousness comes upon him like a wave beating upon the shore. All of a sudden, his eyes are blinking open, and then heâs trying to sit up too fast and is forced back down to the cot by a bout of dizziness.
âEasy,â you tell him, pressing him back. âDonât try to sit yet. The meds arenât out of your system.â
âY/N?â Minho asks, voice hoarse.
Hearing the scratchiness of his voice, so totally removed from the usual confident cadence of his words, makes your throat close up. âYeah, itâs me. Iâm here.â
âHey, Doc,â he says roughly. âJeff wonât give me klunk about the bandages now, will he?â
âNo, he wonât,â you say, torn between laughter and outright sobs. âHow do you feel? Any pain?â
âAll good,â Minho tells you. âWhat about Ben? Is he okay?â
âBen is fine,â you assure him. âYouâre the one weâre worried about, Minho. I knew the Maze was dangerous, but like thisââ
He cuts you off, squeezing your hand. âHey, all in a dayâs work. I knew the risks when I went in.â
You shake your head, hot tears starting to well up in your eyes. âNo, no. This isnât fair. Youâre not supposed to get hurt during the day. Minho, I didnât even know anything happened, and then they brought you in, and there was so much bloodâ I thought I was going to lose you, and I didnât even get to tell youââ
Even in the midst of your tears, you have the presence of mind to stop yourself before you give yourself away. Itâs justâ the thought had not abandoned you the whole time he slept, even the whole time you operated, that you could lose him without ever having him at all.
Minho shakes his head as best he can. âIâm okay, sweetheart. Iâm okay.â
âBut you almost werenât,â you whisper. âWhat if Ben hadnât been able to get you back in time?â
You take a ragged breath, trying to keep the tears at bay, but itâs no use. Your shoulders shake, and Minho leans up slightly, as if drawn to it. To you.
âYouâre pretty even when you cry,â Minho says, one hand weakly rising up to brush a tear from your cheek. âHow is that fair?â
You laugh haltingly, in between the tears. âBarely awake five minutes, and youâre already flirting.â
He grins. âItâs all I want to do.â
If this were any other day, you would be able to brush off that comment, but something about this moment, this spaceâ no one else in the room, Minhoâs palm still tenderly cradling your cheek, your heart still erratic from the stressâ you canât help but turn the words over and over in your mind. All I want to do. All I want to do.
âMinhoââ You start.
âShh,â he says. âYou already know that. Donât tell me you havenât seen through it. My smart girl. All those times I came to see you. Donât say you havenât realized.â
âMinhoââ
âNewt says Iâm being stupid. That I shouldnât keep trying to have something that isnât mine. But Iâll tell you something, Y/N, Iâm selfish, and Iâm greedy. I want you, and I donât want to think about you with anyone else but me.â
Your breath is harsh in your chest, heart beating so loud youâre certain they must hear it echoing all across the Glade.
Minhoâs eyes are fixed directly on yours. He sits up carefully, enough to reach his other hand up past your waist to the small of your back. âTell me you donât want me, or Iâm not going to stop trying to keep you. Tell me to stop.â
Your lips part as you try to form an answer. Minhoâs eyes dart down to the movement, and they only rise to your gaze with great reluctance. âI donât want you to stop,â you tell him at last. âI want you, Minho. Only you.â
Two years now, youâve known Minho. Youâve seen him proud and defiant, laughing and joyous and as happy as anyone could hope to be. Still, you donât think youâve ever seen him smile as brightly as he does right now, right before he kisses you.
Every touch is electric, and this is the most powerful of all. Your mind is reeling from the moment your lips meet, sending you far beyond the reaches of the Maze to the sky itself. You could be floating forever if you wanted, and you only start to gradually come back to earth when he slowly breaks away.
âMinho,â you say, hesitating over every syllable.
âY/N,â he mimics, lips turned up in an irrepressible smile.
âTheyâre going to want to know that youâre awake. I promised Iâd get the others,â you tell him.
He considers this for a moment. âThey donât need to know immediately, do they?â
You smile. âNo.â
Minhoâs eyes glint. âThen kiss me again. You can tell them after.â
It seems like a fair deal to you. You kiss him to make sure of it.

Prompt: Minho x Reader, he doesnt want you to be a Runner
Content: Fluff
⎠â Ë。𦹠â・°⊠â Ë。𦹠â・°
You and Minho never got along quite easily. Ever since you arrived at the Glade he paid little attention to you. You two always get into disagreements and arguments because of his sarcastic comments getting on your nerves all the time.
You tried your best to be polite knowing he is the Keeper of the Runners and that heâs the only way you could become a Runner. Yet no matter how much you prove your worth Minho always refuses you.
Youâve told him your reasons as to why you wanted to become one. All you wanted was to help everyone find a way out of this place in hopes to find a better life. But even after your heartfelt speech he replied with a harsh no.
So now you were stuck as a gardener, which wasnât bad at all. Although it did get boring having to constantly dig up and plant things all the time.
The sun was glaring down at everybody outside, causing the air to be humid and warm. Luckily you were under a shelter, unbothered by the hot weather. Since there wasnât much gardening to do left you decided to help Fry with cooking. You were chopping up some vegetables while he was stirring something in a pot. The two of you were cooking stew for everybodyâs lunch.
You look outside to where the maze is, watching as Minho and Ben running back. You quickly look away before anybody catches you staring at Minho. But of course Fry noticed.
â(Y/N), stop staring or youâll chop a finger off,â he teased.
You roll your eyes in response and continue the task at hand. Everyone in the Glade noticed your tough relationship with Minho, they would always tease you two about acting like an old married couple.
You didnât want to admit it but you did look up to Minho. He was strong, smart and always looked after the other Gladers. You just couldnât understand why heâs always so harsh to you.
You avert your thoughts back onto the chopping board in front of you and focus on cutting the vegetables properly. From a distance you could hear somebodyâs footsteps approaching, you didnât need to turn to see who it was.
âHey, Minho,â Fry greeted him.
âHey,â Minho huffed before pouring himself a cup of water.
His eyes landed on you, you could feel him staring intently. You felt pressured under his stare, distracting you from what youâre doing. It mustâve slipped your mind that you were literally holding a sharp object and it only occurred when you felt a sting on your finger.
You let out a hiss of pain as you immediately dropped the knife. A small but deep cut was on your finger with a small portion of blood seeping out.
Before Fry could ask if youâre okay Minho stepped in.
â(Y/N), you alright?â Minho asks while quickly rushing towards you.
You nodded your head but your face was grimacing at the sight. âYeah..â You muttered.
âCâmon, Iâll take you to the Med-hut.â He gently laid a hand on your shoulder before leading you out of the kitchen.
âMinho, I can handle myself perfectly fineââ
âJust go with me,â he sighs.
âIâm pretty sure Fry has a band-aid.â You try your best to protest since you know Minho just came back from the maze and you didnât want to burden him. But he kept moving you forward.
You look back to Fry with a look of help in your face. Instead you were greeted with him grinning at the two of you.
Not long after both you reach the Med-hut. Minho quickly asked for a band-aid from Jeff and began patching you up.
âI can do it myself,â you say while trying to push his hands away.
Minhoâs grip stayed firm but still gentle around your wrist. It didnât take long for him to finish.
Now you were getting mixed signals. At first, you were a hundred percent sure that Minho hated your guts, but now heâs here tenderly caressing your hand.
âWhy are you acting like you care all of a sudden?â You blurted out without thinking.
Minho was taken aback by your words. âWhat are you talking about?â
You quickly turn your head the other way, hiding the way your face flushed from embarrassment.
âYou always ignore me and argue with me. Just like when I asked to become a Runner. Why are you suddenly looking after me now?â You ask.
Minho sighed deeply, still keeping your wrist in his hand.
âYou donât understand,â he spoke under his breath.
âThereâs a reason why I donât want you to be a Runner,â he says with a stern expression.
You pry your hand away from Minhoâs grip and glare back at him. âIs it because you think Iâm not capable?â You spoke with bitterness in your voice.
Minho crossed his arms, avoiding your gaze. âNo, I know you are.â
âThen why wonât you let me? You and the others need all the help you can get and you wonât even accept my helpââ
âI refused because it was the only way to protect you.â
You stare at Minho, speechless and dumbfounded.
âWhat?â
He finally looks back at you. His eyes were filled with worry. A genuine look youâve never seen on him before.
âItâs dangerous in the maze. What if you get chased by a Griever and get stung, huh?â His voice rose a little, leaving you stunned.
Minho quickly noticed how you reacted to his response. He took a moment to recollect his composure.
âIf I lose you I wonât be able to forgive myself,â he spoke in a softer voice.
He slowly wraps his arms around your body. His strong arms held you close to his body as delicate as possible, almost like you were fragile.
âI really care for you, (Y/N), I really do,â he muttered. âI did what I know is right.â
You felt your heart flutter at his words. Hesitantly, you wrap your arms around him as well.
Although you still want to be a Runner, you understand Minhoâs side of the argument.
âI understand now,â you replied.
The two of you bask in each otherâs comforting presence. After a moment you couldâve sworn you felt Minho press his lips against your temple. His small gesture caused your heart to skip a beat.
As it turns out, thereâs more to Minho than his harsh, sarcastic demeanour.

Take Me Out - Part One

Pairing: MLB player!Schlatt x gn!sideline reporter!reader
Word Count: 1.6k
Summary: Schlatt is the new first baseman for the New York Mets, and youâre the teamâs new sideline reporter.
Content: Fluff!
A/N: I went with the Mets over the Yankees because a.) Iâm a Red Sox fan, and b.) the Yankees are strict and only allow mustaches (long live the chops). Enjoy! :)
You feel like a kid on the first day of school. Youâve got that nervous, butterflies-in-your-stomach kind of feeling, but in a good way.
Itâs your first official day as the sideline reporter for the New York Mets, and you couldnât be more excited. All those long nights of studying, all your hard work to obtain your communications degree, have finally paid off.
You canât help the grin that spreads across your face as you enter Clover Park for the first time. Youâre in beautiful Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Spring Training is just getting underway. The smell of freshly-cut grass hangs in the air as you watch the players running drills on the field.
Itâs here, as you speak to a member of the production team near the dugout, that you catch your first glimpse of him.
His laugh is what you hear first. Instinctively, you turn towards the sound, and thatâs when you see him. Heâs standing near first base, facing away from you, showing off the number 99 that covers his broad back.
Schlatt, everyone calls him, despite the surname stitched across the back of his jersey. His reputation precedes him. Everyone has heard the scouting reports, seen the viral videos passed around social media. In the minor leagues, heâs been known for his antics, taunting runners on the opposing team when they reach him at first base. Itâs his first year being called up to the majors, and heâs one of the big stories for the team, the player to watch.
Youâve done your homework. You know all about Schlatt and his rather colorful personality. Heâs certainly one of the more animated players in the sport, always fired up after a solid hit or a particularly impressive defensive play. Heâs cocky, and, honestly, he has every right to be. Heâs the Metsâ number one prospect, an above-average first baseman and strong power hitter. You know heâs going to be a handful in interviews, but youâre up for the challenge.
You canât tell from this angle, but you know that if Schlatt were to turn around, youâd see the infamous mutton chops. Second to his spectacular playing ability, his unusual facial hair has been one of his defining characteristics since he was first drafted. Love it or hate it, it gets the fans talking, keeping that oh-so important spotlight on him.
Youâre pulled out of your musings by a shout of, âLook out!â followed by a baseball whizzing past your head, narrowly avoiding you. You look to the field to see a few players standing around sheepishly.
âYou okay?â To your surprise, itâs Schlatt who turns to ask you.
You give him a thumbs up. âAll good,â you call out to him.
With a satisfied nod, he turns back to face the field.
Itâs going to be an interesting season, you think.
Youâre packed into the press room like sardines, shoulder-to-shoulder with fellow reporters. You all crowd around the podium where Schlatt sits, an array of microphones and cell phones in front of his face to catch his every word.
The press conference begins, and youâre called upon to ask the first question.
You open your mouth to speak.
Before you can get a word out, an older, male reporter begins talking over you. âWhat do you thinkââ
âHey,â Schlatt cuts the reporter off sharply. âLet âem speak.â He gestures to you.
You feel your cheeks heat as seemingly every pair of eyes in the room turns towards you. You take a breath, then, as calmly as you can, ask your question: âWhatâs your takeaway from day one of Spring Training?â
Schlatt hums thoughtfully before answering, âThat we look good out there, but we still have a lot of work to do before weâre ready for Opening Day.â He leans back a little in his chair and adjusts his cap. âThat all?â
âOne more thing: got any advice for a rookie reporter, as a rookie yourself?â
He grins wide. âJust enjoy it. Weâre in the big leagues, baby!â he whoops, and the crowd erupts in laughter and scattered applause.
Before moving onto the next reporter, you swear Schlatt shoots a wink in your direction.
Spring Training flies by. Before you know it, youâre on a plane to New York for Opening Day. The sun is shining bright on Citi Field, helping to warm the chilly air.
Youâre trying your best to soak it all in. This is what youâve dreamed of for so long, and you want to enjoy every moment of it.
What an exciting Opening Day it turns out to be. The Mets and Phillies have gone back and forth, earning runs and keeping the score close throughout the game.
Itâs now the bottom of the ninth, and the teams are tied three-to-three. There are two outs, no one on base, and Schlatt is up at bat. The count is fullâthree balls, two strikes. It all comes down to the next pitch.
You watch with bated breath as the Phillies pitcher throws a blazing fastball towards the plate. Schlatt swings the bat, andâCRACK! Just from the sound, you know itâs gone, and Schlatt does, too. He stands in the batterâs box for a few moments, watching the ball sail into the stands, before beginning his victory trot around the bases.
The crowd is going absolutely crazy. Lights are flashing all around, and music is blaring through the stadium speakers. The Mets dugout empties to meet Schlatt at home plate, where they convene in a huge group, shouting and high-fiving one another.
As the celebration on the field dwindles and players are headed off the field, youâre able to get Schlattâs attention for a post-game interview. You can hear Gary, the announcer, in your ear, setting it up for the viewers at home.
âSchlatt!â you have to practically yell over the crowd. âThat was amazing! Whatâs going through your mind right now?â
Heâs breathing heavily, standing with his hands on his hips and leaning in to hear you better.
You think he starts to talk, but youâre suddenly doused in ice-cold liquid. You gasp and instinctively try to back away, but itâs too late. You realize, belatedly, that another Mets player has dumped the Gatorade cooler in celebration, but seems to have missed his mark.
âWhat the fuck, man?!â Schlatt shouts at his teammate, instinctively putting an arm around your shoulder, as if to shield you from another onslaught.
You shiver, not completely sure if itâs from the unexpected contact or the fact that youâre soaking wet in New York in early April. Maybe itâs a little bit of both.
The station must have cut back to the booth by now. At the very least, the audio will have been muted momentarily when Schlatt swore. Still, youâre pretty sure that, even though the camera is there, itâs not broadcasting you in all your drowned rat glory.
âFuckinâ idiot,â Schlatt mutters to himself before focusing his attention on you. âAre you alright? Lemme get you a towel.â
âOh, itâs fine,â you try to tell him, but heâs already jogging towards the dugout and returning moments later with a clean towel, ironically emblazoned with the Gatorade logo.
âThank you,â you say, taking the towel and attempting, maybe in vain, to dry yourself off. Youâre at least able to get the worst of it so there is no longer Gatorade running into your eyes, which is an improvement.
Schlatt crosses his arms and shakes his head. âIâm sorry about him.â
To be honest, youâre surprised heâs still here, still talking to you. You figured heâd want to get out of here as quickly as possible, but here he stands, looking genuinely concerned.
âItâs alright,â you try to brush it off.
âNo, itâs not,â he insists. âIâll talk to him, make sure it doesnât happen again.â
You smile appreciatively. âThank you,â you say again.
He smiles back at you softly. Itâs so unlike him, you thinkâor, at least, so unlike the version of himself that he presents on the field and in interviews. Itâs like youâre getting a peek at the real Schlatt, the man behind the persona.
Youâre whisked off the field soon after. The production team assures you that you donât have to stick around for the post-game press conferences, insisting that you go home and get cleaned up, for which youâre very grateful.
One very uncomfortable (but thankfully short) walk later, youâre back at your apartment. You quickly peel off your ruined outfit and hop in the shower, eager to wash off the day (and the Gatorade).
Soon, youâre curled up on the couch, cozy in your pajamas. Itâs then that you feel your phone buzz, pulling it out of your pocket to reveal a wall of notifications. Confused, you unlock your phone, trying to make sense of the influx of Twitter mentions.
You nearly drop your phone when you open Twitter.
There, on your screen, is a video of you, microphone in hand as you begin interviewing Schlatt, before the Gatorade shower interrupts you both. The video doesnât end there, though. You watch in disbelief as Schlatt puts his arm around you and continues talking to you, unaware that the camera is still rolling. Sure, there are a few moments where the audio is muted to cover up Schlattâs f-bombs, but it appears that SNY aired your entire interaction with Schlatt.
You scroll down, eyebrows raising as you read through the replies. There are screenshots of Schlatt with his arm around you, followed by incomprehensible strings of letters and an impressive amount of emojis. You donât really know what to make of it, and you try to put it out of your mind as you get up to make yourself dinner.
An hour or so later, you get a text from an unknown number:
can we talk?
A second message comes through moments later:
itâs schlatt
A/N: Thank you so much for reading! Let me know what you think! :)

Looking back on the entire show after watching the finale makes me realize just the insane amount of detail and foreshadowing present.
Whenever Nâs memory gets brought up, itâs usually paired with him being beheaded
Ep 1: Gets his head blasted off by Uzi and loses 2 hours of memory
Ep 3: Brings up his memory to V who slices his head off
Ep 5: The episode is all about Nâs memories and we briefly see his worker drone body missing itâs head when they get to the basement
Ep 8: The Solver rips Nâs head off, and after regrowing it, he recalls another memory of the Solver tearing him apart as a worker
The constant emphasis on hands in the show
The disassembly drones having swappable hands
Uzi gets stabbed in the hand in episode one
The Solver and eldritch J with the weird human hand tentacles
The fact that characters are constantly losing hands and arms
Vâs weird monster arm from the flashback
The handlights indicating whether a drone is possessed
The constant close ups of whenever N and Uzi hold hands
The secret handshake
Uziâs hand burning in ep4 and her hand burning as she destroys Cynâs heart in ep8
The Solver using Tessaâs hand and fingerprint to get past a Captcha Test
The solver powers revolving around hand movement
The hands on Uziâs wings
Dollâs knife going through Uziâs hand
Alice chopping Uziâs finger off
N chopping Uziâs hand off to save her
Thereâs more here, and it happens in the other Glitch shows too. For example, Pomniâs glitched hand, the Meta Runner arms being the main catalyst for the conflict in MR, and meme guardians holding hands for power in SMG4
The constant foreshadowing for CynTessa and the little details that make so much more sense in hindsight
Episodes 6 and 7 we see N, V, and Jâs yellow eyes reflected in Tessaâs helmet
The creepy apparition of CynTessa in Ep4
Cyn and Tessa having the exact same haircut
The whole entire scene with Tessa and the sentinels
Without the context of ep7, that scene plays out like Uziâs stress at seeing N get attacked by the Sentinels causes her to be briefly possessed by Solver in order to override the controls
Looking back at it, however, the Solver only fully possessed Uzi when Tessa got bitten by the sentinel. It was trying to save itself not N.
It literally saved itself and disguised the attempt as Uzi trying to protect N. If thatâs not a perfect metaphor for who and what the Absolute Solver is, idk what is.
And it did it again at the end of the episode where it yet again it possessed Uzi to get the door open right when the sentinel charged at Tessa.
The Sentinel briefly shutting down and getting confused at what it thought was human blood, and then a few scenes later it comes back and guns directly for Tessa, with her blood no longer working to distract it.
Tessa and Cynâs matching fondness for N in particular.
Tessa outright beheading a drone in her first introduction which contradicts her character in ep5
Then thereâs the Solver/Cynâs almost stalker-like obsession with N
N being the only DD to not feel pain. J and V grunt and yell when they get stabbed or lose a limb, but N gets ripped apart and doesnât even blink
Cyn calling N âbig brotherâ which the Solver does as well. V and J are never once called âbig sisterâ.
N being the only DD to have lost his memories, possibly so the Solver could control him better. N is a sweetheart by nature and by continuing to override his memories every time he tries to protect the Workers, the Solver can keep him bloodthirsty and feral.
The weird hologram of Maid V that the Solver used to taunt him
The Cyn hologram hugging him
The Solver purposely exploiting Nâs feelings for Uzi to keep him from fully attacking her while sheâs possessed.
The whole puppy dog eyes thing
âYour backups will forgive meâ and the fact that she has backups of N even before the mansion massacre.
The Solver N, V, and J retain their personalities only because it liked Nâs in particular
The fact that it sent the nicest, kindest drone in the entire show to slaughter its own kind
The low, annoyed âHello Uziâ followed by the high pitched, upbeat âHi N :Dâ
How the Solver plays around with Tessaâs corpse and her affection for N
Again with how it plays with Nâs relationship with Uzi by using Tessaâs voice to tell him that he has to kill Uzi to save the universe
The Solver using a hologram of N to fuck with Uzi twice
The Solver using the hologram of N to fool V into calling out for him so it could lure the real N out
The Solverâs obsession with N technically never going away. With Cyn as the main host it was a sibling bond, but with Uzi now the main host itâll likely latch onto her romantic love for N
The absolute insane foreshadowing to Uzi becoming the Solver itself
The occasional reflection of N and Vâs yellow eyes in Uziâs visor
Uzi overwriting Cynâs admin control and replacing it with her own
Uzi possessing the Solver cameras while in Nâs memories, and the cameras having purple eyes
The protagonistâs journey graph in presentation in the very first episode alluding to a big fight and monstrous transformation at the end.
Uzi overpowering CynTessa with her own Solver
Uzi breaking through possession via the powers of angst and teenage rebellion, without even needing the patch like Nori and Yeva
Uzi and Tessa having the same fleshy bat wings
Uziâs core number being 1001 just like Cynâs
Uziâs tail chewing on Nâs head for some reason in episode 6, likely foreshadowing to Cyn being in her tail
Uzi possessing Braiden just like the Solver would
Other little details
Uziâs purple being a perfect complement to Nâs yellow which also matches their personalities
The background posters having just the stupidest/funniest notes on them
Uziâs tail looking like a sentinel head
Lizzy having seemingly infinite phones
The drones treating the school bus like itâs an animal with sentience
Braidenâs head literally always being on fire, even in death
The references to Until Dawn and Friday the Thirteenth in episode 4
The soundtracks having just the stupidest fucking titles (affectionate), with some of them even referencing each other.
N going from being Jâs doormat in episode 1 to outright beheading Tessa in episode 7 when he realized she lied to him
The Solver making its biggest mistake asking N to choose âthe universe over the life of one little droneâ because it didnât account for the âone little droneâ being Cyn, not Uzi
The Protagonistâs Journey chart foreshadowing Nori being alive with the âhelp from an unexpected sourceâ close to the end of the timeline
Khan going from leaving Uzi for dead to rebuilding her rail gun and directly attacking the Solver in the hopes of saving her
Also Khanâs behavior and bad parenting suddenly making a lot more sense once we finally see a full photo of Nori and realize that Uzi is damn near identical to her mother.
Uziâs teeth arenât sharp until after her transformation in ep4
In a roundabout way, the humans on Copper-9 were successful is making something that could stop the Solver, as they caused the incidents that would eventually lead to Nori meeting Khan and passing down her genetics to Uzi
#hoo boy this got long#and this still isnât all of the crazy details and foreshadowing that are in this show#murder drones#long post#uzi doorman#serial designation n#serial designation v#serial designation j#cyn#the absolute solver#khan doorman#nori doorman#Md lizzy#md braiden#even as Iâm typing out the notes Iâm still remember more details
