I know Percy's desperately trying to escape the godly world but not only do I think the gods aren't going to leave percy alone once he's in New Rome, I also think Percy's in the situation now where he can't refuse at all because like, if he was in the mortal world at a mortal college he at least would be able to try and be like "sorry I can't do a quest right now I've already used up my three excused absences this semester try again in the spring :/" but in New Rome? They will be like "Percy! It is an honor to be hand-selected for a quest. And by the gods no less! Stars above, you should be grateful! this season just felt very weird overall. my biggest issue is the huge lack of continuity between episodes?? it felt very mediocre network sitcom-y where the beginning of every episode is reset to the status quo. nothing inherently wrong with it but mq is clearly capable of better (eg the brad/jo/zack plot in s2 spanning half a season). i guess the grimpop dynamic/conflict felt pretty consistent throughout but everyone else felt very one dimensional -- character moments that COULD have been great were undercut by the fact that there were 0 consequences and 0 time spent on them. eg brad's 5 month long plot ? literally nothing came of it. david was sort of mad for maybe 3 minutes of screentime and then it was never acknowledged again. rachel literally defended child labour on behalf of the company IN FRONT OF CONGRESS and had 0 consequences other than her being a bit mopey for 2 episodes. why are none of the characters excluding grimpop given any importance or thought? obviously they're the main dynamic, but mythic quest is quite literally an ensemble sitcom. give us some consequences!!!
