A vital part of political knowledge (and knowledge in general) is knowing when to say, "I'm not educated enough to make a statement about this topic."

It's okay if you don't know every little detail of every single issue at hand. But it won't help if you refuse to acknowledge where you lack information, where your blindspots are, and what you just don't understand. It's okay to not have an answer.

#politics #saying you aren't educated about a topic isn't shameful; it's a sign that you have self-awareness of your knowledge #that's a GOOD thing #this is different than willfully refusing to just not learn anything about the world and even then... i don't know if it's right...#...to force people into having An Opinion #having An Opinion is step one. the knowledge gained about topics should lead to the formation of An Opinion #but if you force people to have An Opinion with no knowledge about what they have An Opinion about... that's when it gets alarming #it's okay to not know things. it's okay to not understand certain topics...#...you can let people who actually know whatever topic to lead those conversations...#...and it's likely that YOU have knowledge and opinions that others don't have the knowledge to comment upon #that's how the world kind of works; it ought to be a collaborative effort and a continuous process

I'm getting a lot of youtube videos discussing the implications of Melanie Martinez's work during the "Crybaby" era and how it impacted them as young kids being exposed to a lot of uncomfortable fetish content.

I'm really happy this stuff is being expressed more widely. I wasn't necessarily a Melanie Martinez fan myself growing up, but I have vivid memories of watching her music videos at lunch period with my friends in middle school, and my little sister being really into her music. I remember when the infamous coloring book was dropped because my friends during the time was excitedly talking about it and showing us promotional images of it.

I do wish though more people talked about how her work is very clearly influenced by the artist Trevor Brown. EXTREME warning if you do choose to look him up. His work is known for depicting imagery of young girls (as old as infants!) in fetish gear and enacting sexual scenarios, as well as generally depicting women/girls in extreme pain and abuse (scars and bruises are very overtly displayed in an eroticized manner). He has gone ON the record saying he is attracted to girls as old as 12 and 13. Like, people can argue all they want about the "artistic vision" etc. whatever that Melanie is trying to express, but the fact that she openly connects her vision to this man's work says enough to me about how predatory it is.

#I found out about this guy some years ago from a different youtuber who was talking about how exposure to his art #normalized these scenarios to her #and seeing this similarly take place with a lot of former martinez fans makes sense with this knowledge #I'm also looking critically at all the musicians who have collaborated with this guy for their album covers/promotion (there are a LOT)#melanie martinez #squack

I changed colleges to study visual arts. dropped sociology after five years and being close to graduating, and yes it's as painful and humiliating as it sounds. but at this point if it swims like a duck (an artist) and quacks like a duck (an artist) the only thing left to do is to surrender to obvious destiny

#it's really funny to me. the transgender. people known to b eok with major life changes and decisions #to have been oblivious to this so long. but not really it all started in 2022 if im being honest #nothing that i studied resonated with me at all and anything close to actually making the sociology happen just wasnt enjoyable at all #it dawned on me last year when i didn't enjoy collaborating at a local trans org. neither in data processing or designing tools and stuff #and like. that was exactly what i dreamed of whne i was 18. and i just couldnt wait to go home and do literally anything else #also i just get stupider each passing year i couldnt pull it off anymore. all my last turned in work was embarrassing as fuck #sociology aborted me. thats it #in 4 years i'll be 28 so what's better than being 28 and doing what you can actually do and have new knowledge regarding it

I know this is the worst picture ever but these players were so rude. Three of us were waiting to open the vault door. This party of three STOOD RIGHT NEXT TO US. AND THEY DIDNT HELP OPEN THE DOOR.

If everyone stopped cheating their way through vault, the doors would be way easier to open, so you wouldn’t need to cheat! But selfish players like this ruin it!!

theres a lotta things i wanted to do this year but I think the thing that would help me the most is to like. start personal projects that make me enjoy my work again. x( i wanna be excited about game development and making games again, it really helped me push myself to learn and get better and this stagnating just feels terrible. Knowing what I'm capable of but not being able to set on the path to getting there.

#i unfortunately thrive in group settings with other passionate ppl #my work is not really a collaborative group setting #and my senior thesis project really burnt me out and kinda killed some of that joy #if i wanna keep in this career i need to figure out how to consistently stay driven #i should be modeling or texturing or sculpting or creating things every day #even just an hour a day #also if i want to be able to do more stuff that i can use in my portfolio i just need to get a lot quicker at making things #so i can justify my work to my boss #that + proper photogrammetry would b really useful #personal stuff #i never had any illusions about where i would go with this degree #i never really thought nor planned to get into any large studios working on huge games #i don't hate where i am with my job and that we do really meaningful stuff is incredible #i just wish it felt like any of it was MY work :/#i feel so disconnected from what I make and it's hard for me to feel pride in it #i gotta settle this out this year or get started on a new career path #and just let this be a personal thing for personal projects #the imposter syndrome is real too #by all rights i am fairly knowledgeable about what i do and i can be pretty quick learning new pipelines and texturing methods #i just am fighting executive dysfunction all hours of the day #i feel like i get so little done so slowly compared to so many other people #i see other ppl's portfolios and I feel embarrassed that I'm not at their level #im a 'its never too late to learn' person but man it feels like i'll just never catch up in terms of skill and speed and consistent output #every time i try to reassure myself it just falls flat. they had mentors but not everybody had mentors and they're still better :/#i have adhd and i have a hard time self-starting. but a really large amount of creatives in all fields have adhd and they still do so well #every thing that makes it tougher is the same for so many other people and it feels so frustrating that im just having a hard time #overcoming what everyone else seems to have overcome just fine #anyway sry for the rambling #i miss loving games soo much and having so many ideas and wanting to l earn new things
