Fairy Boys

Look. I had to. I had to draw Pokemon AU Angel with Bede and Ortega. The fairy boys had to be together (reluctantly). Is it a show of fairy-type specialist dominance from Angel like what he did in Sword and Scarlet? Probably. Bede's uniform was hard to draw since I had to look up uniform references as it wasn't as clear from the game stuff I looked at. Also I needed to make up for how I drew Ortega last time and missed details. Angel is the 8th gym leader and fairy-type specialist of the Allustra league from a Pokemon fan project I'm working on. Originally, my character Peace was the last one. She's still involved in the gym, Angel just butted in and took over with how the process has gone. Becchi Ayumi, Untitled, 2023 & 2022

I love the fact that this artist isn't afraid to use colours wherever they see fit. The first piece is filled with details not always decipherable but there is a clear repeated motif: the tree. In fact, the image at the centre appears to be a cut trunk of a tree seen from above. Maybe all the images surrounding it are the many things the tree saw in its life. In the second piece the artist explains in their original post on Instagram that they used a leaflet they got at Nagoya's City museum. At first I thought the leaflet was only used in the right hand page but if you look closely, the head from the figure appears to also have been cut and pasted on its colourfully detailed body.

Rescue and Explorers

Recently I've been on a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon kick. My first Pokemon game that I properly played was Blue Rescue Team, and PMD helped me notice and value stories more in other Pokemon games (may they be side or mainline). I have drawn Skitty Angel before (https://www.deviantart.com/circifox/art/Mystery-Dungeon-Teams-Across-Time-932843690) this, though after playing EoT with Penelope and Anthea, I restarted and changed Penelope from a Cubone to a Mudkip as Angel's partner for Rescue Team DX. I've also been recently playing the Explorers of Skies ROM Hack with Angel and have been enjoying it. I'm very happy with how all of them turned out. With the future being dark in the Explorers games, I thought it would make sense for Penelope's coloration to appear darker when she was turned into a Mudkip besides being more exhausted. I've never played with Chikorita as a player pokemon or a partner, and for drawing and AU imaginings, I made Anthea a Chikorita and Roserade crossbreed (it just worked). I tried to look more at other Skitty artwork when I was drawing Angel this time around. Look at him. Look at that fluffy boy. I'd want to make that boy into a plush. He looks so soft and fluffy.
