And last ones so far for the initial batch, Cheery and Visit. Yes I know I dropped titles after the first couple but I can't change those now because of this inadvisable post structure. Ah well. It'll work better in the future when I don't actually have a couple all lined up at once. Anyway, that's all from Discworld for the time being, I've got a half finished Dorfl and Reg still sitting around.
Starting off some sketches of the Ankh Morpork City Watch (from Discworld) with Commander Vimes and Captain Carrot. More Watch members to follow.

I finished feet of clay and I was like damn that was a good book. There's a lot to think about in there. And then I updated my reading log and thought about some of the top things I enjoyed and I was like DAMN that's a good book. And then I was mulling over the top things I enjoyed and that led me to think about my favorite top quotes and that led me to think about what struck me so much about those quotes and anyway I have enough seeds of thesis statements here for an essay series and every two things I write down that I noticed on my read leads me to notice a third completely new thing that ties in perfectly with all the others. It's like story baklava. I feel like I need a conspiracy board. I need to read this book again and start digging through jstor for essays.
Anyway feet of clay is a good book.
#noodle reads#noodle reads discworld#me when i find a good book: START THE BIBLIOGRAPHY ORGANIZE THE SUBHEADINGS IT'S ESSAY TIME#could. could i write an article and pitch it to a magazine.#there's so much about evangelical Christianity in here and i feel like I'm catching the edge of#stuff about judaism too but I'm less knowledgeable about that#if i write about the evangelical Christian themes and then pitch an article to a christian magazine would i get blacklisted#can i get christians to read about constable visit the infidels with explanatory pamphlets

constable visit-the-infidel-with-explanatory-pamphlets has the BIGGEST dick* in the watch, but as a modest man of piety he has NO IDEA of
a) how big his dick is in comparison to other dicks
b) how desirable this makes him
c) that everyone OPENLY stares at him in the showers, bc he’s got his eyes closed and he’s merrily scrubbing away and singing his hymns
(* his dick is the same size as carrot’s but carrot is 6′6″ and beefy af and visit is like, 5′11″ and has a body like a beanpole so it’s not the same)

You know how appreciated Puritan naming conventions? Fuckin Sir Terry Pratchett
He named his characters frickin amazing shit like Constable Visit-The-Infidel-With-Explanatory-Pamphlets
And then there’stge absolute banger of a character who is Reverend Mightily-Praiseworthy-are-Ye-Who-Exalteth-Om Oats.
It’s funny to me that I’ve met people named Grace, Faith, Patience and Chastity. It is so funny that Puritan names have survived so long and are still so popular if you take a step back and think about it. She’s getting Starbucks today and accusing a townsperson of witchcraft tomorrow.

Constable Visit-the-Infidel-with-Explanatory-Pamphlets
Also known as Visit-the-Ungodly-with-Explanatory-Pamphlets (infidel can get you a thick ear), usually just known as Visit, or by his nickname of Washpot.
--Terry Pratchett and Stephen Briggs, “The Ankh-Morpork Archives” (illustration by Paul Kidby)
(One wonders how he got that nickname. Anyway he’s Omnian. The ‘new’ kind of Omnian.)

Terry Pratchett just ran with this premise. Actual Discworld characters:
Esmerelda Margaret Note Spelling of Lancre
Moist von Lipvig
Constable Visit-the-Infidel-With Explanatory-Pamphlets
Bestiality Carter
Cut Me Own Throat Dibbler
King Olerve the Bastard
Magrat Garlick
Cheery Littlebottom
you can just name your characters anything. you can name them Printer. you can name them Shnorpty. you can name them There Are Pillars. and peoppe will just have to accept it.

Inktober 2019 The Watch
Day 10 Constable Visit
Visits full name is Constable Visit-the-Infidel/Ungodly-with-Explanatory-Pamphlets, nickname "Washpot." He is an Omnian, a proud and evangelical people who are very strictly religious. Visit is very Omnian, spending much of his time spreading his literature and disparaging other religions holidays. He's a good sport, though, and knows whats important when push comes to shove
