hello, my name is nexys and i am a disabled, autistic, and queer person trying to make it in the content creation world. i'll do my best to keep this short and sweet, but i'm going to be having a subathon over on twitch starting 8/1 (august 1st) at 12pm CST.

this event is super important to me, as i'm trying to raise money to improve my living situation, as well as the living situations of those in my community. i'm also going to be running a charity day on friday, august 2nd for parkinson's awareness, research, and treatment, and will be having on my grandfather, who is an advocate with the disease. and i know it would mean a lot to him if he was able to raise some money to help other people like him.

for those that don't know, a subathon is when a streamer goes live on twitch for a certain amount of time, and the stream ends when the timer runs out. however, the timer can be increased indefinitely by viewers donating money, subscribing, gifting subscriptions, or cheering bits.

due to my disabilities i can't go 24/7 like some of the maniacs (/lh) out there, but i have committed to going every single day for at least four hours until the timer hits zero. and once again, this subathon event holds potential to be lifechanging for a lot of people. plus i'll be collaborating with over a dozen other creators throughout the first week, so you'll be getting a lot of variety! we'll be playing everything from pokémon to phasmophobia, roblox to subnautica, and more!

WATCHER CAN'T BE OUT OF MONEY TO MAKE THEIR SHOWS

Making a streaming service is going to be way more costly than just uploading the shows on youtube. Because they will have to pay for all of the stuff that youtube was providing themselves. i.e., hosting content, server maintenance, domain space, and don't even get me started on promotion. Just because they're leaving YouTube doesn't mean that they are not living in a capitalist hell scape anymore. They still need to make money. Which means that they now need to worry about making content that will best work for their seo. In the postmonopolization of the internet, people are less likely to just randomly come across website's all on their own, if they're not backed by a fuck ton of money or the brand recognition of somebody like apple or disney. And they will need fresh faces coming in. Obviously, there's going to be subscriber loss when it comes to any switch from free to paid content. As the barrier for entry has been raised, people who aren't die hard fans with disposable income are less likely to go ahead and give away their money to see content that they had been receiving for free. Meaning that in the end, they are going to be losing money on their subscription model unless they do that while having a patron, which would be fucking insane. Because less we forget, they do have a patron that supposedly earns 100k a month. Yes, watcher has a high production cost on a lot of their shows. But you know what's even higher than the couple $1000 they're spending to make things like ghost and mystery files. Running a goddamn streaming service. This thing will fall apart faster than quibbi. And either there's gonna be a big blowout and all 3 boys will never talk to each other again.

Large Language Models (LLMs) have rapidly become indispensable Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, powering applications from chatbots and content creation to coding assistance. Despite their impressive capabilities, a common challenge users face is that these models sometimes skip parts of the instructions they receive, especially when those instructions are lengthy or involve multiple steps. This skipping leads to incomplete or inaccurate outputs, which can cause confusion and erode trust in AI systems. Understanding why LLMs skip instructions and how to address this issue is essential for users who rely on these models for precise and reliable results.

Why Do LLMs Skip Instructions? 

LLMs work by reading input text as a sequence of tokens. Tokens are the small pieces into which text is divided. The model processes these tokens one after another, from start to finish. This means that instructions at the beginning of the input tend to get more attention. Later instructions may receive less focus and can be ignored.

This happens because LLMs have a limited attention capacity. Attention is the mechanism models use to decide which input parts are essential when generating responses. When the input is short, attention works well. But attention becomes less as the input gets longer or instructions become complex. This weakens focus on later parts, causing skipping.

In addition, many instructions at once increase complexity. When instructions overlap or conflict, models may become confused. They might try to answer everything but produce vague or contradictory responses. This often results in missing some instructions.

LLMs also share some human-like limits. For example, humans can lose focus when reading long or repetitive texts. Similarly, LLMs can forget later instructions as they process more tokens. This loss of focus is part of the model’s design and limits.

Another reason is how LLMs are trained. They see many examples of simple instructions but fewer complex, multi-step ones. Because of this, models tend to prefer following simpler instructions that are more common in their training data. This bias makes them skip complex instructions. This benchmark tests models on tasks that need step-by-step completion of instructions such as text modification, question answering, mathematics, and security rule-following. Each instruction in the sequence depends on the correct completion of the one before it. This approach helps check if the model has followed the whole sequence properly.

The results from SIFo show that even the best LLMs, like GPT-4 and Claude-3, often find it hard to finish all instructions correctly. This is especially true when the instructions are long or complicated. The research points out three main problems that LLMs face with following instructions:

Because I am shamelessly stealing inspired by Kariachi’s necromancer Argit because of this fic, as well as using a ‘revived from the dead, warded to high hell’ possession (and incidentally mind reading) block as an excuse to why Ra’ad can’t just read Andreas’ thoughts anymore as part of the whole ‘Ra’ad is both mutant AND magic’ Mutant and Magic AU stuff (an equal part ‘what if there were EVEN MORE mutants and magic in OS that continues into the sequels’ and ‘nerf alien species natural powers’ AU), I often bullshit my way out of this question :P

That’s a hell of an opening statement-

There’s a lot of moving pieces in this AU that I’ve constructed from random headcanons that sometimes include hcs of someone else, Argit’s treatment of Andreas being one of them. Remove the whole necromancer thing and AU Ra’ad can not only read Andeas’ mind again due to undiagnosed psychic magic, but is also the first of the Andromeda 5 to learn about Argit and his dynamic with Andreas, which he can’t continue reading into because eventually the castle gets totalled and Andreas is severed from having more memories of Argit to have an opinion.

Wouldn’t stop Ra’ad from having his own opinions, mostly on what he could see (a castle hunting criminal with a runaway thug he pays in food), whether or not he brings it up to the others to be on the lookout for Argit or even in the OV future timeline where he becomes President of Earth :P
