I wanted to talk a bit about how actually looking through the series, Grace seems be to doing a lot of them emotional support in her relationship with Simon. Simon seems to rely on that support without offering much in return.

In The Musical Car and the Jungle Car we see Grace trying to cheer Simon up over being separated from the Apex. She tries to joke and give him things to do to keep himself from just worrying. This seems to just come naturally from their differing personalities, but it’s there in the beginning of the Book.

In The Debutante Ball Car she also regrets bringing up the Cat seeing how upset Simon looks at it. She tries to move on with a joke and reassure him that they have time to deal with Tuba.

But in Le Chat Chalet Car when Grace is staring unhappily at her hand, Simon doesn’t seem to notice anything is wrong. He’s just annoyed at Tuba and tries to get Grace’s attention so they can move on.

In their argument later, Grace looks like she regrets her comment about Simon needing her to make decisions for him, though she goes back to being annoyed. She also later apologizes for not acknowledging his feelings. There is also a small moment of her checking in with him before asking The Cat about the snow.

Simon does not realize Grace might also be upset until she lets him know, nor apologize for arguing with her over circumstances she couldn’t control. Still, in this scene he does offer her emotional support over her worries.

Then in The Canyon of the Golden Winged Snake Car, Grace gets angry with Simon when he grabs her. He clearly hasn’t considered that things between them might be tense at the moment after killing Tuba and belittling Hazel’s grief (also if someone says don’t touch them just don’t). But she looks guilty seeing Simon upset, though she stops herself from apologizing, just trying to smile at him to seem like she isn’t actually angry. 

Simon meanwhile, doesn’t think to apologize, reflect on what happened, or ask her what is going on, instead going to the Cat to find some way to deal with her “not acting like she should” and shutting him out.

Then after the truth about Hazel comes out and Simon finds out Grace kept it from him (out of fear for Hazel’s life!), he gets much angrier. He does not care at all how upset Grace is over Hazel leaving, simply feeling jealous and betrayed rather than any sympathy for the person he was so close to for eight years.

Grace meanwhile is upset, but still feels some sympathy for Simon when he expresses anger over the lies. The storyboard even labels this expression as guilty. Even though Simon has rapidly spiraled into cruelty and is currently messing with her mind in a very literal sense, Grace feels guilty. Meanwhile the storyboard says Simon looks disappointed as he leaves Grace.

And we also see that their very first meeting involved Grace comforting Simon and him looking to her for support/answers, feeding into the dynamic they would eventually have

And it ends in their fight in The New Apex, where Grace saves Simon’s life and says that she knows he’s hurting. She also, however, declares that she does not owe him anything and is not responsible for his problems. Simon, meanwhile, tries to kill her multiple times, and feels that she does “owe” him.

Their relationship was definitely shaped by a lack of healthy adult figures, other peers, or boundaries. The way it turned out makes sense with them having no one else to rely on for a long time. However, Grace was willing to change and make other connections, while Simon refused to look at other perspectives and tried to cling to what he knew, alongside the subtext of his romantic interest in her.

needed to get this off my chest but re-watching the movie I realized something

In this scene, mikey asked what did you do to my brother and the kraang said improved HIM this was after he was kraangified

While raph was being interrogated the kraang referred to him as an IT

The kraang really thought of other species as an inferior life form but after you are "improved" or "fixed" you get to be granted above pest status

ALSO PLEASE THE SCENE WHERE THE KRAANG LITERALLY SEARCH IN HIS BRAIN FOR INFORMATION?? WHY ISNT ANYONE TALKING ABOUT IT???

side note i noticed that raph was tortured for information in the cargo ship but his tracker was moving

this could mean either the Kraang rendered him unconscious and dragged him around the city or he was picked up and carried there by the Kraang

sister Kraang was taking the foot clan to the lair so maybe he was just dragged around watching people run in terror as he could do nothing to help

OR secret thrid option raph was with the kraang a bit tooo long to be a functioning member of society, so as the brainwashed stalk-holme syndromed newest kraang member he willingly went with them ( mwhehe you can see which option I'm going for) ( forgot to say but @somethin-strange-27 quarantine au was a big inspiration for this)

these two are linked in some way. 100%. i'm hesitant to add mem to the theory board because idk if they'll be related to march too or just cyrene (being an entity that sort of embodies cyrene's... essence? like ELF elysia in hi3) but the similarities they have with Both are too big to ignore completely

unsure if they're about to go the route of cyrene and march being the same person or if march is simply like... a fragment of cyrene that was sealed and sent away to maybe give her a chance to live on since this girl is doomed to die in virtually every universe and iteration. amphoreus's time and space displacement is fucked up and it seems like we're going to be spending a lot of the adventure split across concepts of "past," "present," and "future." so that mayyyyy be why we were able to see cyrene interacting with and talking to stelle in the nameless faces video, if she's no longer "whole"/dead/...whatever.

she does appear to be emerging from a place of... non... physicality. also it's worth noting that in the first picture of her i included, she's sinking - into water or a water-like substance. that can presumably freeze over...... and become the ice block himeko and welt found march 7th in....... hm? 🤨

it's hard to say how much cyrene will have in common with elysia - it's unfair to expect them to be the exact same character, and maybe these points i'm about to bring up mean little in the end because we don't know for sure where the story is going to go, but

elysia was "born from nothing" which doesn't quite have the same connotations as march 7th's "birth" but you know. they both found themselves in a sudden state of existence with next to nothing to fall back on and they defined themselves

elysia is not humble about her beauty and speaks often of it (as she should; she is very pretty). similarly, march frequently boasts about her cuteness and describes herself as the cutest girl in the world (as she should; she is very cute)

"never forget your roots" is one of the mantras elysia lives by. this stands out to me because despite not... really needing those memories, march is pretty insistent on remembering her past. the lesson that the garden of remembrance and just the universe and her adventures in general have tried to teach her ("your present defines you; so long as you're happy here, you don't need the memories of your past, and retrieving them might destroy what you've come to love now") just doesn't appear to be sinking in. perhaps because she subconsciously has a core belief stating the opposite

as for how mem would fit into this i have nothing for you because we don't have anywhere near enough info on them for me to begin thinking about that. but it seems like they'll be a pretty big deal.

like i'm spitballing more than anything here. if march IS a fragment of cyrene i think it's also obvious that she has grown into her own, entirely separate person and her origins are inconsequential - though she might not think that if/when she learns this about herself. that might also offer an explanation for why the garden of remembrance won't let her have any part of her old memories, not even a hint. because learning that she's technically a piece of someone else might be too heavy a blow to her sense of identity and she'll be entirely too focused on all the wrong things. uncovering her past will slow her down at the most inopportune moment... make her vulnerable in all the worst ways. which might be why she appears so absent from the adventure.

it's also possible that like. all three of these guys - march, cyrene, and mem - are fragments of a titan (don't ask me which). or that march was given cyrene's coreflame (don't ask me which) before being catapulted into space. or march was the previous owner of the coreflame cyrene has now - if they can be passed on to other people - before being catapulted into space. or i mean, the coreflame cyrene HAD because i'm not convinced this girl's fully alive and well. mem IS the coreflame, brought to life/imparted with cyrene's memories and will.

do you see... there's just so very much to think about... looooots of story spoilers got thrown at us if we can just... untangle the mess... can anyone HEAR me
