Countertype Series: Type One.
From NineTypesCo by Steph Barron Hall.
Meet Steven! In this interview, he shares what it's like to be a Sexual One.
Defining the Sexual One subtype:
SX Ones are often driven to perfect and improve specific others and the way society works overall. It's common to find a sexual One launching into an explanation about why the way that things work is wrong and how it can be better. These Ones are focused on reforming others, and they don't always concentrate on inner perfection (though most still report having an inner critic). They are the most openly angry and intense of the three One subtypes.
Did you ever mistype?
"When I first took the test through the Enneagram Institute, it typed me highest as 2, 4, and 7, with 1 being my fourth highest scoring type. I was really enamored with the language of the enneagram in general, so I started reading through the types.
"As you might expect, 1 resonated somewhat with the three types presented to me, but when I read the fuller description of the 1, I knew those were the fears and drivers that actually informed most of my decisions on a daily basis, even if aspects of 'the perfectionist' didn't fit on the more surface level."
How would you describe the SX1 subtype? What is it like for you to move through life as a Sexual 1?
"Being the sexual subtype for me means that I spend most of my time focused on the energy I feel from the people around me. I will often even attribute problems that are due to something like hunger or discomfort to perceived issues I have with people I'm close to in my life.
"As a sexual 1, I feel like my rigid perfectionism is often playing tug-of-war with the passion I have for my friends and close ones. I often feel as though I come across as chaotic, being very structured and articulate, but also leaning toward big romantic gestures, dropping everything to have a significant moment with a friend, and over-expressing my feelings of appreciation and affection for those I am close to.
"I have always been VERY picky about who makes the cut in my life. I almost always know instinctively in the first couple of interactions if someone is going to get my time and attention or not. I am often playing this narrative in my head where I and a few people I approve of are special and rare, having a positive impact in a world of people who just don't quite have what we do (yes I am aware this is not a healthy narrative)."
What is the biggest challenge you face in your life related to your subtype?
"[One is that] I will sacrifice my schedule, principles, and good habits for the people in my life.
"If I am on a strict diet, but my friend wants to blast through a pizza, I'm right there with them. If I have 6 things on my to-do list for the day, but someone I care about needs to talk or wants to go do something spontaneous, I will drop that whole to-do list to have that experience. I chase the charisma and energy to an unhealthy degree.
"This always results in my beating myself up later for not doing what I wanted to with my time. I always take the hit internally later. I somehow expect myself to give the people in my life all my time and energy, and then just be able to do all the stuff I planned anyway."
What do you think is the biggest difference between yourself and other Type Ones?
"When you interact with most 1s, you can feel the rigidity. Their responses are always controlled. Their style is simple and clean. It always feels like they are holding back a little. I can have that same filter when I am in new situations or around people I do not know, but that filter comes down for me far more quickly and with greater frequency than other 1s. I quickly loosen up and become louder, more excited, more passionate, and even more silly.
"My subtype is called Zeal, and I feel like I approach many situations with zeal. I have lots of energy and fewer boundaries, especially when I have confidence or I care about what's happening in a situation. I can lean into excess and even be chaotic when I feel like it's the 'right' thing to do in the moment.
"At my core, I see myself being driven by the same deep need as all 1s to be good, do what's right, and always get better. I don't feel the same restrictions I see many other 1s dealing with trying to achieve those goals. It's much more natural for me to push energy into a moment, especially when I'm convinced it's good or I'm right."
Is there anything else you'd like people to know about your subtype?
"We are still perfectionists!! Our hair may be messy and our rooms might be disorganized, but we are probably crazy organized and structured somewhere else (like with our thoughts or in our work ethic or with our relationships, etc.)"

The Apothecary Diaries Personality Types: Jinshi
Tumblr media
Here's another character where I disagree with the majority opinions on their Enneagram. Many people see Jinshi as 2w3 or 3w2, but I see him differently. Here's why!
Jinshi's Enneagram
Wound: Jinshi was born an heir to the throne and the title of Emperor. He feels overshadowed by the current emperor, who he believes is his brother.
Wounding message: This is the role you must play because of your birth.
Core desire: To live his life on his own terms; to be seen and appreciated for who he really is, and not just the beautiful mask the world sees.
Core fear: Becoming emperor and remaining trapped in the imperial palace.
Defense mechanism: Jinshi uses his charm and appearance to get what he wants.
Strengths: Jinshi is charming, clever, cunning, loyal, sensitive to others' desires, and willing to take his future into his own hands
Challenges: Jinshi is childish, jealous, possessive, needy, takes things personally, has very low self-esteem, and wears a mask except around those he knows best
When healthy: Jinshi drops the mask more and lets his negative feelings (particularly his anger) show
When unhealthy: Jinshi becomes more childish, needy, sulking, etc...
Looking at all of this, here's what connects when I go back to the Enneagram post:
Wound: 1, 2, 3, or 9
Wounding message: 2 or 3
Core desire: 3, 4, or 7
Core fear: 4
Defense mechanism: 4
Strengths: 4 or 6
Challenges: 2, 4, or 7
When healthy: 2, 3, 4, or 7
When unhealthy: 1 or 4
Jinshi is an Enneagram 4.
Much like Peeta, Jinshi presents with a lot of characteristics of 2, but this is because he hasn't done his growth yet (in a character arc sense).
Fours go to Two when stressed, so they act more Two-ish during these times. Twos, on the other hand, go to Eight when stressed. I don't see Jinshi becoming "aggressive, controlling, argumentative, blunt, demanding" really ever.
I also don't see Jinshi worrying that he's not needed or wanted (as is the main concern of Twos). He knows he's wanted, but it bothers him that it's only because of his attractive appearance, and not who he really is deep down. (This is part of why Maomao's reaction to him delights him so much!) He also knows he's needed, or at least expected, to fulfill an important role in the Imperial Court. He worries this will keep him from living the life he truly desires.
Fours live in the Heart center, and tend to overexpress sadness/shame. From Personality Path:
Shame or Sadness is overexpressed by Type 4s. Type 4s are complex characters, which means shame and sadness express very differently in the three Type 4 subtypes.  Anger reactions are deeply influenced by the subtype, with the Sexual Type 4 being described as the angriest type in the Enneagram, whereas the Social Type 4 may express anger more mildly. Anger can be triggered by a wide range of things ranging from feeling misunderstood or unseen, to reacting to slights, real or imagined. This personality style can have a pattern of taking things personally. Fear can be triggered by comparisons with others (with themselves chronically falling short), or anxiety that they will not leave a meaningful mark on the world.  Subconscious envy is often at the bottom of the core three emotions for Type 4s.
Wing
The Enneagram Institute calls 4w3 "The Aristocrat" and 4w5 "The Bohemian". Jinshi is a 4w3. From Truity:
4w3s tend to be more energetic and driven than other Fours. They seek to make an impact in the world while maintaining a deep sense of self. They are more sociable and image conscious than other Fours.
Yuki Sohma from Fruits Basket and Peeta Mellark from The Hunger Games are both 4w3s.
Subtype
I think Jinshi is most likely an SP 4w3. From Enneagram Explained:
Focuses On:  The need to be themselves in order to have their physical needs met. SP 4s are the Countertype of type 4 as they react in an opposite way with their vice (envy). They work to get what they feel others have/that they lack (not generally material envy but a more characteristic/wholeness envy). Nicknamed the “happy 4” they tend to keep the sad/hard emotions for behind closed doors. Relationship to Their Vice (envy): SP 4s tend to suppress their envy. Potential Mistypes: SP 4s can often look like type 1s, 3s, or 7s.
Jinshi shares this subtype with Yuki Sohma.
I have felt that Jinshi reminds me of Yuki in many ways - he's admired for a version of himself he feels is false, he's put on a pedestal but is actually deeply unhappy, he's charming and willing to use that charm to get his way despite its effect on his already very low self-esteem, he's very private about his true feelings and self and really much more childish than he seems at first, he's naturally a kind person, and his true self loves to tease those he's closest with.
It's worth noting that, while Yuki is easier to spot as a 4 than Jinshi, I personally think 4w3s and SP 4s are harder to identify as Fours than 4w5s and SO 4s (Yuta Okkotsu is both of these, for example).
It's also worth noting that not only is Jinshi's wing a 3-wing, but his subtype is often mistyped as a Three!
Tritype
With 4 as his Heart type, I think Jinshi's Head type is probably a 7, maybe a 6. I think his Gut type is probably 9, though I can't really rule out 8 or 1.
Looking at the descriptions, I actually think 4-7-8 ("The Messenger") is the best fit.
From Katherine Fauvre's website:
If you are a 478, you are intuitive, innovative, and protective. You want to be original, creative, and straightforward. A cutting-edge tracker of both your internal and external worlds, you are an unconventional, passionate, and self-possessed master of solutions. You seek what is new and innovative with a strong need to share what you learn with others. Outwardly, you come across as confident with a sense of panache, but inwardly, you are emotionally sensitive and shy.
The only other 478 I've analyzed is Mine Kuramae from Fruits Basket.
Jinshi's MBTI
Sticking with my more recent format, here's how I see Jinshi's mental processes:
Information-Gathering:
Everyone uses both iNtuition and Sensing, but one will be more natural to rely on. Everyone will also introvert one of these processes, and extrovert the other.
Someone who introverts iNtuition and extroverts Sensing will be able to cut to the core of understanding something in a state of deep, solitary focus. They will gather sensory information through their experience in the present, preferably with others.
Someone who extroverts iNtuition and introverts Sensing will tend to brainstorm aloud, connecting many possibilities at once, and will rely on comparisons to past sense-memories in order to understand the present.
I suspect Jinshi uses Ni and Se, with a slight preference for Ni. This would make him an -N-J type.
Decision-Making:
Just like with the two information-gathering processes, everyone uses both Thinking and Feeling to some degree, but will use one more naturally. And again, they will introvert one, and extrovert the other.
Someone who introverts Thinking and extroverts Feeling will use their own internal logical framework to come to decisions, and will base their decisions on outcomes for the people around them.
On the other hand, someone who extroverts Thinking and introverts Feeling will use external logic in decision-making, such as rules, laws, procedures, checklists, etc... and will base their decisions on the kind of person they want to be, or the kind of person they see themselves to be.
I think Jinshi uses Ti and Fe, with a preference for Fe.
This would make him an -NFJ type.
I've been going back and forth on this, but I do think it's most likely that he uses Fe as his Dominant process, making him an ENFJ, also called "The Teacher".
Let's look at what Dominant Fe looks like:
Seeks harmony with and between people in the outside world. Interpersonal and cultural values are important. Encouraging and interested in others. Keyword: Harmonizing.
When exaggerated:
unrealistic visions, only accept data that supports their theories, make things overcomplicated
Inferior Se:
insistent they know what is best for everyone, intrusive, ignore problems, force superficial harmony
And the description of ENFJ:
Warm, empathetic, responsive, and responsible. Highly attuned to the emotions, needs, and motivations of others. Find potential in everyone, want to help others fulfill their potential. May act as catalysts for individual and group growth. Loyal, responsive to praise and criticism. Sociable, facilitate others in a group, and provide inspiring leadership.
To be honest, I'm not sure whether this is a great description of Jinshi, but I do feel it's the closest I can get for now. Maybe I'll change my mind! I do feel that the description of INFJ sounds more like him, but the processes of INFJ don't sound as much like him, so I don't really know.
Other ENFJs include Tamaki Suoh, from Ouran High School Host Club, Kyoko Honda and Mayuko Shiraki, both from Fruits Basket, and Peeta Mellark again.
Jinshi's Personality Summary
Enneagram: SP 4w3 (The Individualist/The Aristocrat)
Tritype: 4-7-8 (The Messenger)
MBTI: ENFJ (The Teacher)
Jinshi almost has two selves; there's the confident, ethereally beautiful, graceful, mature eunuch he presents to the world, and the immature, needy, emotional teenager with low self-esteem that he only lets a few select people see. He's highly aware of his role in the world, and he desires to rebel against that predetermined future and forge his own path. He cherishes Maomao because she was never fooled by the mask he wears, and because she's authentic in a way he admires.
What do you think? Do you agree with my analysis? Why or why not?

Enneagram and MBTI Classpecting
I would like to start off that this is PURELY FOR FUN !!! Do not use this as an actual way to classpect yourself, this is just me throwing my interests into a pot and stirring them up LoL
OK NOW THAT THAT'S BEEN SAID:
Classes are based off of enneagram, since enneagrams are basically your biggest flaws/sins, the class you're assigned is meant to be your downfall and meant to challenge you in some way.
You are going to need to know your instinctual variant and enneagram type for this, but IV really only matters if you're a countertype
Down here is the guide on what is what, there is 4 different choices for each enneagram, specifically 2 wings, 1 encompassing the entire number itself (in case you feel like your wing isn't very prominent) and one for the enneagram countertype. If you are the countertype, this will override your wing anyway so you'll be the countertype class!
1w9: Sylph
1: Prince
1w2: Maid
Sx1: Bard
2w1: Prince
2: Maid
2w3: Bard
Sp2: Sylph
3w2: Page
3: Thief
3w4: Knight
Sp3: Rogue
4w3: Thief
4: Knight
4w5: Rogue
Sp4: Page
5w4: Heir
5: Seer
5w6: Witch
Sx5: Mage
6w5: Seer
6: Heir
6w7: Mage
Sx6: Witch
7w6: Knight
7: Thief
7w8: Page
So7: Rogue
8w7: Maid
8: Prince
8w9: Sylph
So8: Bard
9w8: Mage
9: Heir
9w1: Seer
So9: Witch
Example of typing using this system, I was Sp7 with a high 8 wing, this means I'd be a Page!
Now onto aspects! Aspects are basically what encompasses you wholely, so I thought MBTI (specifically cognitive functions) would make the most sense to be used here since that encompasses how you think!
Each type is broken into either perceiving functions (ne/se/ni/si) or judging functions (fe/te/fi/ti). If you feel like you are DEFINITELY an extroverted perceiver (eg you know you're either Se/Ne, but don't know which one) then you'd choose the extroverted perceiving function !
Ne: Time
Ni: Doom
Se: Life
Si: Space
Extroverted Perceiving: Light
Introverted Perceiving: Void
Fe: Blood
Fi: Heart
Te: Mind
Ti: Breath
Extroverted Judging: Rage
Introverted Judging: Hope
Using this system, I am somewhere between Ne and Se, making me an extroverted perceiver, therefore I'm a light player!
And combining the two, I am a Page of Light!

Nya Headcanons
Enneagram: 4w3 (countertype)
Temperament: Choleric/ Melancholic
Love language: acts of service, gifts
Power: feels the water along her skin, hovering around her like a second skin
Nicknames: Waterlily, Sis
5’5
Burgundy is actually her favorite color, but said blue when she first met Jay because she couldn't think straight in all the chaos
Learned Spinjitzu with the others, but didn't use it as Samurai X because with her heavier armor it was easier to fight normally
Eats a lot of protein shakes and protein bars
Really good friends with P.I.X.A.L. and Skylor (who she sees as a sister even after she broke up with Kai)
Loves to read history, and spent a lot of time studying in the library when the ninja wouldn’t let her help on their missions
Has a really short temper when she’d on her period (most of her blowups happen at that point of the month)
Left handed
Her version of “I love you” is “I trust you." She sees trust as a higher standard than love, and loved Jay from the beginning, but had to learn how to trust him in S6
Never viewed Cole romantically, but views him as a bonus older brother
Struggled the most with unlocking her Elemental Powers because she didn't have a Golden Weapon to help her channel it

I’ve heard here and there social 8s can resemble e9 and i’m a bit curious on your thoughts about that, would you say they in some way can have similarities especially with social 8 being a counter type?
enneagram 8 (social countertype)
would be inclined to start conflict for the sake of close ones
can also be mistaken for sx 4 or 2s
want to protect those around them
emotionally provoked my injustices
"antisocial people who try to be social" (haiki)
might sacrifice their own needs for love or wellbeing, but "replace it with a compensatory movement toward power and pleasure" (chestnut)
more likely to challenge authority
enneagram 9
not very protective
"forgets" themselves rather than consciously neglecting their needs
might change themselves even for someone who is not close
avoids conflict at all costs, at most passiveness
wayy more self-deprecating than an e8 (not always humor)

ah! OK then. well, we've been fixated on gold lately. it's very pretty, so I agree on you with that, darling. wings are pretty to us as well! skin (bat-like) wings or not. we like raven wings and golden wings the best (bat-like being a close second), but I think we're a bit biased on that point, haha /lh, pos.
I think we've actually seen a diagram of wings on pinterest about feathered wings and their countertypes (is that a word? I don't know, but I'm going to use it anyway). like, the wings are half bat-like or half unfeathered. like the top half is feathered, but the bottom half is bat-like. we've taken a liking to those types of wings for some reason.
but other than that? wings are gorgeous. especially dark-feathered wings, bat-like wings, and golden wings. (again, incredibly biased.)
also, a question: I've heard that some vampires (from different franchises and worlds) have/had wings. do you believe that some vampires have wings? (bat-like and otherwise) /nf, pos
I've never heard of half-skin half-feather wings, woah /pos
Personally I do believe some vampires probably had wings. (Being vague here on purpose) my main fictotype did not but she could have probably shapeshifted them if she so chose to. I'd say it'd be more likely for them to have bat wings because of how vampires are deeply associated with bats. /pos

I'm seeing this pattern where the Winter signs are almost the countertypes or the odd ones out of their element. Fire: Compared to Leo & Aries, Sagittarius is more pessimistic and more private, more inclined to avoid than to fight back and overcome. Earth: Compared to Taurus & Virgo, Capricorn is more adaptable, more inclined to ignore their senses & their body in pursuit of a long-term abstract goal. Air: Compared to Gemini & Libra, Aquarius is more non-conformist, more secure when their ideas may be off-putting to others. Water: Compared to Cancer and Pisces, Scorpio is more hardened against the world, more cold when encountering emotions.

In his classic studies of sexuality and masculinity in post-Enlightenment Europe, George Mosse argued that Jews and homosexuals had parallel and interlocking histories. Both groups were written out by nationalists and proponents of bourgeois respectability as incompatible with the aesthetic and moral health of the social body. Mosse also demonstrated that Jewish men were regularly berated as effeminate and sometimes conflated with “sexual inverts” in a range of elite cultural discourses. It was against this Jewish-homosexual “countertype” that the aesthetic and cultural ideal of masculinity was fashioned from the Enlightenment.
Complementing Mosse’s work in a number of in-depth studies, Sander Gilman demonstrated how fin-de-siècle antisemitism and homophobia were each imbricated with representations of the other, demonstrating that “symbolic elements of one social representation could be—and frequently were—exchanged with those of [the] other.” John Efron demonstrated that these assumptions about Jewish masculinity extended into mainstream medical and psychiatric calls for Jewish psychic regeneration, calls which asserted homosexuality as the particular pathological provenance of the neurotic Jew and his degenerate body. Jay Geller and Warren J. Blumenfeld explored these themes in reverse, considering how the racialization of the Jew affected the production of the modern homosexual (Geller did this specifically for Freudian psychoanalysis). Matti Bunzl summarizes these historiographic developments: “the historical trajectories of Jews and queers have been linked by a joint logic of social articulation;” their “abjection gave coherence to the fiction of German nationness” and both “became central players in the social drama of modernity.”

What is Tritype®? Tritype® a 27-point typing system that is an advanced and more specific application of the Enneagram that was created and coined by Enneagram teacher, researcher, and coach Katherine Chernick Fauvre. Tritype®, originally named 3Types, TriCenter, and Trigram, is based on Katherine’s theory that while individuals primarily use one Enneagram Type as their ‘core type,’ everyone actually employs three central Enneagram Types; the dominant Enneagram Type within each center of intelligence: the head (5,6,7), heart (2,3,4) and gut (8,9,1). These three types are used in a specific oscillating, repeating, and hierarchal stacking order. The type at the top of the stacking order is the 'core' Enneagram Type. In addition to using one dominant Enneagram type within the Tritype®, the three types within each Tritype® combine to create a “new” type unto itself which is one’s Tritype® Archetype: www.katherinefauvre.com/tritype

"I want to be drowning in the knowledge that I'm right" average sx 1 behavior
Individuals of the E1 sexual type tend to hold an ideal of how things should be, applying it to both their internal and external worlds. They rely on the belief that they know how things should be done.
Sexual Ones are outward focused, much more so than the Self-Preservation and Social Ones. They are the Countertype because they allow anger to be expressed instead of repressing it, and they direct their anger at the imperfections of others. They seek to reform “their people” and pour gut triad fire and passion into molding others (and sometimes the world) into their ideal. They feel justified in these pursuits, permitting themselves to act in regal-type ways because they’re fixing what is wrong in someone and therefore doing the right thing.
This One's anger infuses his desire with a special intensity or urgency and the person has the sense that "I have to have it," or "I have a right to it," or “I have to improve it (society or another person) to make it the way I know it should be."

Countertype Series: Type Four.
From NineTypesCo by Steph Barron Hall.
Meet Jake! (@jakefentonaz) In this interview, he shares what it's like to be a Self-Preservation Four.
Defining the Self-Pres Four subtype:
Self-Preservation (SP) Fours tend to be less expressive of their emotions than other Fours, and can even seem stoic, even though internally they have a lot of the same emotionality that other 4s experience. These 4s are commonly misunderstood because they have a bright, happy disposition. They often hold incredibly high standards for themselves and work painstakingly to reach them, even to the point that they might burn themselves out because they believe they deserve to suffer in some sense (and that they don't deserve a break).
Did you ever mistype?
"Yes. I thought I was a 3. I have a strong 3 wing, but I have never felt like I could be truly successful & authentic at the same time. I intuitively knew that authenticity/honesty was the most important thing to me but couldn't find the words to articulate what I felt. I would read the qualities of a 3 and 4, and I identified partially with both. I decided I was a 3 because 4s are sad, depressed, and sensitive. That's obviously a very misinformed view, but that's why I thought I was a 3.
"Then I read Beatrice Chestnut's explanation of the subtypes, particularly the self-preservation 4, & the Enneagram finally clicked. It went from sorta being accurate to describing me almost to a T. Finally I had words for what I felt/knew!!"
How would you describe the SP4 subtype? What is it like for you to move through life as a Self-Pres 4?
"I feel like a walking paradox. Some days I am able to throw caution to the wind (the recklessness of the SP-4), but most days I am wondering why everyone is wasting time, wading around the shallow end when we could add more value to life by diving into the deep end.
"Sometimes the shallow end is good. I have learned that my conversations with people don't have to turn into quasi-group-therapy sessions, and it's fine to just talk about the weather or The Lakers.
"But I love people & I'm so curious about them & their lives. I want to cultivate deep relationships. I also think I have this compulsion to help others, even when they aren't asking for it."
"Who's actually going to help you walk through that difficult circumstance, navigate that loss or offer a space for you to actually be your authentic self?
"I love all these things about the 4, but I'm also jealous of those that can just move through life talking about the weather. I want to talk about the weather, I see the value, but it's hard for me."
What is the biggest challenge you face in your life related to your subtype?
"Definitely being told: 'You're a 4 so you're always in your feelings.' From a young age I felt like my feelings couldn't be trusted. (What kind of 10 year old thinks this way??)
"I knew that I shouldn't always trust how I was feeling, but those feelings shouldn't be disqualified either. So I have a tendency to move against them in an effort to process them. They come in really heavy like waves.
There are days where I wake up so depressed I don't want to get out of bed. Those are the days I force myself to get up and drink extra caffeine before the gym. Those days are few and far between, but they do happen.
It honestly pisses me off that I can feel things so strongly because it can throw me off course for the day or week. I've got shit to do, and since I'm feeling sad about whatever, it's pissing me off that I'm even dealing with these emotions. It's really annoying! I wish I just didn't feel so much 🙃 It's like my 3 is frustrated with my 4."
What do you think is the biggest difference between yourself and other Type Fours?
"Definitely how aggressive/proactive I can be. I was talking with another 4 today, and she was describing how difficult it is to have conflict with her husband or the mental gymnastics she has to perform to get herself to do something difficult. I really don't operate like that at all.
"Conflict doesn't bother me at all—I'm glad to start it or engage in it if it's the right thing. I have no problem working aggressively toward a goal or being a little self-interested when it comes to accomplishments or accolades. It adds to my paradoxical nature I guess.
"I can play the stupid schmooze-wine-and-dine BS that's required in a sales role, and I'm good at it. But I also sorta hate myself for it. That's when my 4 is frustrated at my 3."
Is there anything else you'd like people to know about your subtype?
"Think of the internal world of an SP-4 as an orchestra. Every instrument represents an emotion, likely connected to an experience in the past.
"The SP-4 is the conductor. This conductor can turn up or down the volume on certain instruments or section of instruments. The entire orchestra plays representing the full spectrum of emotions living inside the conductor.
"But the conductor changes the volume on a certain instrument to elevate n emotion that must be processed. This is the SP-4. The orchestra is always playing.
"A lot of people experience one emotion at a time. They might feel happy or sad or angry. Maybe a few emotions at once given the right circumstances. But the 4? The entire orchestra plays always, the full spectrum of emotions always being felt. I think this is what made me a great pastor when I was in the ministry. I could authentically celebrate with that family that just had their baby & then an hour later hurt with the husband that lost his wife to cancer.
"It's a wonderful thing to be able to access those emotions but it's also exhausting to manage them all the time. As long as I hear the orchestra play, I'll leverage that in service to others."

Fruits Basket Personality Types Part 4: Akito Sohma
Tumblr media
Akito is an incredibly fascinating and well-written character. I think one of the things that makes her hard to analyze is that we see her at her most unhealthy through most of the series. It's really only at the end, after she's accepted Tohru's friendship, that we see who she really might be under all her trauma.
Akito Sohma's Enneagram
Wound: Akito lost her father at a young age, and her mother rejected her. She was told from the very beginning that she was born to be loved, and was put in a position of great power (and thus responsibility) without understanding how to wield that power responsibly. She wasn't really parented, and was at the center of a power struggle between the part of the family that remained loyal to her father (and thus her) and the part of the family that believed her mother should be in charge. Then, she lost her bond with Kureno.
Wounding message: Being the God is what makes you special and guarantees you love, not being yourself.
Core desire: To be loved
Core fear: Abandonment, loss of bonds/love
Defense mechanism: stoke fear in others and make them dependent on her
Strengths: willingness to grow, humility (at the end), kindness (per Shiki in Another)
Challenges: domineering, manipulative, threatening, abusive, moody, needy, dependent on reassurance, possessive
When healthy: humble, kind, diligent, conscientious, accepting of responsibility, tolerant of difference
When unhealthy: cruel, intimidating, controlling, vindictive, demanding, possessive
Here's what connects when I go back to the Enneagram post:
Wound: could be 2, 4, 5, 7, or 9
Wounding message: could be 2, 3, 7, or 8
Core desire: could be 2, 3, 4, or 9
Core fear: 2, 8, or 9
Defense mechanism: 2, 5, or 8
Strengths: We don't see many of Akito's strengths, only hearing about them in Another, but I saw some connections with 2.
Challenges: 2, 4, or 8
When healthy: 2, 3, or 8
When unhealthy: 1, 2, or 4
It's surprising at first that Akito connects most strongly with 2, since we rarely see her treat others with kindness, but on closer inspection (and when letting go of common misconceptions), it actually fits her quite well.
Akito has an obsessive need to be loved and needed. As an Enneagram 2, she goes to 8 when she's unhealthy (which is most of the series), and 4 when she's healthy (which is only at the very end and in Another). It's no wonder she's so aggressive, demanding, and possessive through the series - that's very typical for unhealthy Twos!
Twos are in the Heart center, and they tend to repress their sadness and shame. According to Personality Path, Twos tend to have a narrow and explosive expression of anger when they feel undervalued or unappreciated - something we see quite often in Akito.
Wing
Twos will tend to lean more towards some aspects of Ones or Threes.
The Enneagram Institute refers to 2w1s as "The Servant," and 2w3s as "The Hostess." That doesn't provide a ton of clarity on Akito for me, so let's look at another source.
Truity describes the two wings like this:
2w1: Enneagram Two wing One types are Twos who share many of the same traits as the Type One Perfectionist. These Twos may appear more quiet, studious and reserved. This type strives to serve others and can struggle with criticism. 2w3: The 2w3 type is a Two who shares several of the same characteristics as the Type Three. They tend to be more sociable and ambitious than other Type Twos. They tend to be strong communicators and focus on building deep relationships. They can also be competitive and self-critical like a Type Three.
I'm still not feeling very certain about this, but I think Akito sounds slightly more like a 2w1 than a 2w3.
Subtype
Again, this is challenging to determine for Akito. Here's how Enneagram Explained describes the three subtypes of Two:
SP 2s are the Countertype of type 2 as they react in an opposite way with their vice (pride). They are more timid in connecting with others; less prone to being helpers/givers. They tend to appear childish or childlike in order to be taken care of. SX 2s focus on charming and attracting strong intimate relationships. They are a bit more passionate and emotional than the other type 2s and often try to be physically appealing to others. SO 2s focus on charming groups and communities and being influential within these groups. They tend to be generous and offer support, advice, and help in order to be seen as needed by the group.
I see aspects of Akito in all three of these, but maybe most strongly in SP.
Tritype
I think it's pretty clear that Akito's Tritype would include both 2 and 8, but her Head type is a little harder to figure (much like Tohru). I think the 2-5-8 Tritype (The Strategist) is the best fit, as described on Katherine Fauvre's website:
If you are a 258, you are caring, knowledgeable and protective. You want to be helpful, wise, and straightforward. You can take charge, be direct, and to the point but prefer to be relational. You are naturally empathetic and focused on people but need time on your own to follow your own pursuits undisturbed. You are both introverted and extroverted. Sometimes, you can be direct, move towards others, and ‘over' give or pull away to be alone and recharge. This can be confusing to others.
I'm not very certain about this, though, so I encourage you to look through the different tritypes!
Akito Sohma's MBTI
E vs. I: I see Akito as strongly I.
S vs. N: I feel least confident about this, but am leaning toward S.
T vs. F: I suspect Akito is F.
J vs. P: Akito strikes me as strongly J.
Type Dynamics: Without working out what an ISFJ's type dynamics are (since that's my most likely guess for Akito), I see Akito's Type Dynamics as Si Fe Ti Ne.
Si: Akito craves predictability and uses sensory data about the past to inform her actions in the present. I think this is why she struggles so much with change (and why it's so powerful when she embraces it!).
Fe: Akito externalizes her feelings. She wants the outside world to align with her values and struggles when it doesn't.
Ti: Akito can be a bit black-and-white, and seems to have an internal logic that is consistent, even if it's hard to explain or doesn't make sense to most people.
Ne: Akito can sometimes catastrophize the future (like at the second New Year, when she saw a similarity in Yuki's eyes that reminded her of Kureno when his curse broke, and she immediately hit him over the head with the vase). She externalizes these connections, which may not make sense to others.
This is actually the Type Dynamic of ISFJ! Woohoo!
Now, let's check the description for ISFJ:
ISFJ: Quiet, friendly, responsible, and conscientious. Committed and steady in meeting their obligations. Thorough, painstaking, and accurate. Loyal, considerate, notice and remember specifics about people who are important to them, concerned with how others feel. Strive to create an orderly and harmonious environment at work and at home.
It's hard, because we don't get to see a lot of Akito at her best, but this is more or less how I imagine her to be once the curse breaks. Also, "remember specifics about people who are important to them" is something we see Akito do quite often. ISFJs are also sometimes called "The Protector," or "The Defender." I'm not quite sure this is fitting for Akito, but maybe it aligns with her strong expression of Enneagram 8 ("The Challenger") through the series.
So, to summarize:
Enneagram: SP 2w1 (The Giver/The Servant)
Tritype: 2-5-8 (The Strategist)
MBTI: ISFJ (The Protector/The Defender)
To me, this summary describes someone who is capable of being kind and giving, but has a fighting side that can come out when they (or people they love...or ancient bonds) are threatened. They are diligent and hardworking, and their tendency to both withdraw and cling/dominate can be confusing. This description seems possible for Akito, though she's a very complex character and there's probably a lot more to dig into for her!
What do you think? Did I get it right or wrong? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Next up: Kyo!

♛ : I did. That is why I took what was yours. Initiative demands change, but I spoke not of how it could be claimed. You of all our countertypes should be keenly aware of this. That sometimes one's hands must be dirtied.
Tumblr media
Hmph. Now I know you're simply lying. Your wandering eye betrays your words, all the same. Do you think yourself to be clever?
Tumblr media
That is completely and utterly besides the point. It was mine to begin with and the fact Master has yet to give you the same attention as they do I does not change this fact. Take the initiative, o venerable King of Storms. Is that not what you taught me?
So again. Give it back.
Besides. You look ridiculous in it.

Kai Headcanons
Enneagram: 6w7 (countertype)
Temperament: Choleric/ Sanguine
Love language: gifts, words of affirmation
Power: feels his fire in his gut
Nicknames: Big Bro, Hot Head, Hot Stuff, Fire Lord Zuko, Airhead
5’11
Super protective of Nya and Lloyd (more for Lloyd because he knows Nya can take care of herself)
Saw Sensei Garmadon as a father figure
Constantly worrying about what might go wrong, but hides it under his impulsiveness- his impulsiveness is actually a need to make sure the situation is safe before anyone else gets involved
Sleeps over in Nya's room whenever she is anxious or struggling emotionally, and invites Lloyd to join them
Will eat anything spicy, even a California Reaper… more to show off than because he actually likes it
Was addicted to social media until post Skybound, when he ditched it altogether
Doesn’t have very many hobbies since he spent so much time taking care of Nya. Mostly video games and smashing bad guys. The closest thing he has to one is taking care of his hair and trying to look awesome.
Secretly still interested in weapon design- will examine any new blade or tool he finds before using it.
Has a pair of sunglasses to match every outfit
Got his ears pierced after S2
Loves ImagineDragons and pop rock bands, but also secretly enjoys more romantic leaning musicians like Benson Boone and Bruno Mars
What are your favorite Kai headcanons?

typing for whimsy anon!
Tumblr media
me when i have the CUTEST divider ever that's both PINK and BEACH but tumblr downscales it: 😐
872 (OR 827) so/sx 8w7 7w8 2w1
despite being at the bottom of the questionnaire, i always prefer to start with descriptions about anger, shame, and anxiety.
i can tell that you likely don't externalize your emotions, at least intense emotions, onto others. it's as if feeling them on a physical level is a form of keeping it restrained within yourself. it's very persistent, and doesn't like to go away easily, just like an enneagram 1, especially as a wing to your 2.
you also feel a little bit of resentment for a wrongdoings, but simultaneously care for those around you. your anxiety is likely 7w6. rationalizing with "circular" thoughts as you describe - they LOVE making logical sense of their emotions, leaving them stuck in a cycle of anxiety.
even then, it seems you care A LOT about having new experiences and enjoying life, which can be interpreted as enneagram 7 - a pretty strong fix in your tritype if not your 2.
as for your desires and fears, there's a large motif of "importance." you care a load about making a difference, especially towards those who are closer to you. i'd also like to emphasize the way you structured your answer. you start with how you'd like to live up to your own standards, then feeling unworthy, and lastly impact on the world. i like to think that when people give answers that build upon each other, they often leave the deepest, and most significant aspect towards the end.
even then, the 3 types that care as much of making a difference are 1, 3, and 8. the key note here, is, that this sense of worthiness is something you hope comes from within yourself. thus, it cannot be enneagram 3, who bases their sense of worth off of their image and "rank" in society. enneagram 1 seems somewhat plausible, however you don't really care about morals and values in society. i would honestly say that enneagram 8 fits best, specifically counter-type 8.
8 might seem like an aggressive typing, but so 8 is pretty humanitarian. they care a lot about others, even in the way a 2 or a 1 would, an "advocate." it also slightly conflicts with your anger descriptions, but i can imagine that countertypes often go against their sterotype, which is likely your case.
next, your answer about those around you revealed a HUGE part of your personality - enneagram 2. at first, you desire for connection can be interpreted as an e9, being very quick to accept others. but, from the way you explain attachment and patience towards those around you, it seems very enneagram 2. even from how you describe the disregard from others about yourself, and how it can be upsetting, it's easy to see how your motivations for relationships can relate to your own personal e2 motivations.
i decided to go with 827 as your tritype, often coined the "free spirit." i think that your strong e7 fix for new experiences and living life to the fullest, combined with your e2 relationships with others really makes sense for your tritype. being the countertype of an e8 really ties it all together, especially how you balance your sense of self worth with your desire to impact others. .
as for your mbti, i thought enfp fit pretty nice. it was hard for me to deduce information, and some of it was a "vibe" type (probably the least likely of all your typing). it's harder for me to see your judgment function, wether you are more logically or value oriented. i feel as if an entp would make you much more denser, and a lot less emotional than you describe you are. if you were an entp, i could imagine your fe being much, much higher.
thinking of different outcomes and brainstorming (dominant ne)
doesn't like mundaneness or repetitiveness (dominant ne)
another possibility could be enfj, but it doesn't match well with your enneagram (enfj 8 is goofy). if you do end up going down the mbti and enneagram pipeline, and end up resonating with enfj, i'd say that being an enfj would likely make you a 278 rather than 872 - which i don't see you more as
