#i've been struggling to find the right words to articulate this#but everything that's happened w/ masquerade nyc has felt so in line with what we've come to expect from ALW in general and wrt his musical#like you're telling me the same guy who didn't think it was important to plan anything for the final public performance of a deeply-#-loved show that ran on broadway for 35 years also didn't plan effectively for introducing a large scale immersive production to an-#-audience that likely has 0 prior experience with immersive theater?#you're telling me the same guy who time and time again has shown a profound disrespect for the people cast in his shows by not informing-#-them that they'd be out of a job before the news went public is also opening a new show that has been extremely cagey about sharing-#-helpful information (age requirement/dates/dress code/prices etc) in a timely manner?#i know ALW is not solely and/or directly responsible for these decisions but it's His show and His company#so these Thoughts are directed at both him and the overlapping higher-level staff across the musical and immersive production#and let me add a disclaimer that i think what the minds behind masquerade nyc are trying to do creatively is super cool and i'm confident-#-that a lot of passion and dedication has gone into this project (on top of tons of hard work from everyone involved at every level)#which is partly why i think all the issues surrounding it are so frustrating to everyone. like we all want to be excited about it!#anyways none of this is really that Deep i just wanted to try and articulate my thoughts on this whole thing without getting too-#-involved in the discourse of it all . that is why i've written this 5 paragraph essay in the tags#editing this to add that none of this even touches on the issues with the production not being open about the accessibility of the venue-#-to the point where people had to DM the IG account to ask. like i get that they want to build hype based on mystery and intrigue but-#-there are certain compromises you have to make when it comes to planning and executing something of this scale

Shuichi calling his aunt "my uncle's wife" does make sense when you think about his uncle being Yakou, now doesn't it.
also Yakou being his uncle gives me alot of dorky uncle food that the fanbase really wasn't fucking giving me before. i like the idea of Shuichi's uncle being a dork while still being very good at his job.
also also if you viviakou it you get Shuichi having another uncle who's goth and would absolutly enable him in any attempts to switch out being a detective for being a writer (as alot of fans seem to hc he does)
I imagine that Shuichi lived with Yakou and his wife during the start of the marriage, so he spent a good few years with them both in his teen years. He was with them when Yakou was kicked out of the office building, sticking by as he bought the old submarine and refurbished it to use as the new agency. His uncle taught him everything he knows about being a detective, all while slipping in an abundance of life advice. Shuichi and Yakou often worked together when there were no volunteers present to take up any requests. They proved to be a great problem-solving duo despite Shuichi's anxiety and Yakou's aloofness. When the junior detective solved his first murder case, Yakou and his wife stayed by their nephew's side the whole night as he spilled out all his guilt and fears.
Things changed when Yakou's wife died. The chief isolated himself, ordering Shuichi to go out for solo investigations rather than invite him to stay at the agency with him. It didn't take long for Shuichi to take the hint and regretfully leave Yakou alone, not knowing what else to do. It's then that Shuichi falls into an obsession with a TV show he loved to watch. The rest is history.
A few years pass. The 53rd killing game season ended and the homunculi of Kanai Ward live in peace, all zombified bodies healed back to their natural states. Shuichi is still himself, but his uncle is different. It pains him deeply, but this homunculus is still family in a strange way. And now there's another detective sticking around, in a relationship with his uncle no less!
Vivia and Shuichi are surprisingly quick to connect, introducing themselves and swiftly moving into heartfelt discussions of Edgar Allan Poe's work. With all of Kanai Ward's mysteries solved, it doesn't take long for the two detectives to take up a pastime of creative writing. Yakou happily reads all of their stories. The three are equally content to have a remaining sense of family within the agency.

over the last few weeks ive had no computer to use (only my phone which i dont use a lot) and it's fascinating how much i crave creative outlets-
when im on my pc all day the idea of doing anything creative (which isnt coding) just seems so tiring and i lose interest quickly, however since ive been away im just itching to draw, paint, sew, and generally make all sorts of things.
isnt that odd.

i just put together my year in review art summary for the year and its interesting because compared to last year i think my technical skills improved but it feels a little bittersweet overall because as soon as i got my job all of that ambition just vanished LOL
#txt#tbd#not to say i dont still want to draw and create stuff--i still love drawing and ive been expanding into multimedia a lot this year#but more like..#last year every month just about had some big like full illustration that i felt very proud of#sometimes more than one alongside other art!#and this year started with some of those (tho i feel like ive been in and out of art block for kind of a while now)#but as soon as september hit i literally like. i was finishing ref sheets and then its like#lineart only headshot . lineart only drawing with pink laid under it . and those are the most finished things i have for a month#and i like those drawings! and for some people that IS a finished piece which im trying to work towards in my head#i just know I LIKE making full illustrations with nice colors and a background and character interactions#and i have ideas for them but im just so worn out from working. and im barely even part time#and im not working an art job thats draining my creativity or anything. i wonder if an art job would help or if id just#be doubly burned out#i hope maybe i can adapt to work again or maybe theyll give me health insurance and i can talk to a doctor#about my energy issues. idk. cuz if i cant even work part time and keep drawing then its fucking over for me mentally haha#i do draw sometimes but im much slower. and i have to give myself the grace of knowing like#my ass is chipping away at several larger projects during that time that arent visible on my review cuz theyre not done het#yet*#but that doesnt mean i was doing nothing. and even if i was i should know thats fine#like fuck i made my own nendos this year !! im sewing plushes! i just painted a flower pot! im making animations and studying code!#and even then again i like the art i made this year i just want More of it#realistically i have a lot of free time but its hard because i work best starting At the hour i have to be asleep for work#so my peak productive hours im sleeping. :(#except on days off ig but even then its complicated

I GIVE UP!
The code is somehow broken! I have numerous name easter eggs and all of them word EXCEPT one
because for SOME reason the code is equating the name input "Yours" as being the same as putting in "Pink" instead of following the jump function to its own answer (you can cuss, but you can't flirt, how ironic is that.)
So! It does not get a unique answer like I wanted (the loop idea was funny still...since if you input "Yours" in the name, Pink was supposed to get annoyed and ask your name again looping you back to the question and you could keep answering the same and it would continue to loop you unless you gave a diff answer...but cest le vie.....this works just as well for different reasons :3)
I MADE THE ABOVE and apparently it just doesn't like "or statements"
if ONE line has it and no other if statements under it, then its fine bloody 'ell...well it works at least! so small victory against the trials and tribulations that is CODE.
You can NOW do easter egg names, cuss Pink out AND poorly flirt and get stuck in a loop of em being endlessly disappointed in you instead of putting in a name! How delightful! ^-^
