I Think There Are Actual Hints That Vox and Alastor Work Really Well Together or More Like They Have All They Need to Work Together

So we know that Vox and Alastor like to define each other by how their preferred medium is better, but what’s interesting is that’s just how they define each other, Alastor being an old fashioned radio and Vox being a sell out TV, but that’s not what they are, what they are is Audio and Video. We even see when one might have done better with the others help, like Alastor’s commercial that he did for the hotel

His Audio was fine enough, got your attention, but holy shit, the video was awkward at best, it makes you uncomfortable watching it. And it makes it even more awkward when you can tell Alastor is overcompensating with his voice. But what he did know was a little impressive, some people pointed out that he probably did the editing himself. I believe that these out of place skills such as summoning tech and knowing how it works are remnants of Vox. Just like How Vox is always Smiling when he needs to take control of a situation is remnants of Alastor

They probably learned these things from each other. As a matter of fact the way Alastor kept jumping from scene to scene in the commercial was similar to how Vox kept jumping from visual to visual in the beginning of stayed gone, going vary fast to keep attention. Speaking of which

Stayed Gone is an example where Vox is really strong in visuals, buuuuut probably needed a little help audio wise

Alastor knows how to lure you in with what you hear, Vox pulls you in with what you see, and yeah he snatches your attention right away and (like I said earlier) jumps from visual to visual and you can’t help but be transfixed

Buuuuutt that’s Vox’s problem, they are just watching, his audience can’t even grasp what the fuck he is trying to say because Vox is overcompensating with visuals, and it’s how Alastor verbally slaughtered him in stayed gone. Alastor is so charismatic and experienced with capturing an audience with his voice alone that Vox immediately loses his.

Because, just like how Audio can’t do all the work, neither can video, and one can’t overcompensate for the other, they need to flow together

But I have noticed this a while back, what made me think that they probably work really well together, or rather they have all they need to work together, is what @cringefailvox said about the different outfits that characters like Vox and Alastor wear during songs that have symbolism to it

Like how Vox always dresses as roles that are the leader or face of an organization Bishop/TV Chef/Captain. Roles that have power, but are at the whims of many people and need the approval of said people to stay in power

While Alastor is dressed in more subservient roles Nun/Busboy, roles that are essential to run the organization but often go unnoticed, but can pull the rug out from under said organization if they decide to leave. In other words, it might be symbolic that he is a support (until he decides to take it away)

So Vox being the front runner and presenter basically being everything you see (Which is ironic because Vox means The Voice) and Alastor providing support and stability (he honestly doesn’t do to bad with support, stability is up for debate though) is another way they, in theory, could make a good team.

But the team up would work just like audio and video unfortunately, video is not the most important part, but it’s the part that gets the most credit. while audio emphasis and supports video, it’s part goes unnoticed until it’s not there. And Alastor’s ego has an ass so fat it’s aw inspiring that he can fit it through the door, so that may have been ONE of the reasons he said no to joining Vox (not saying it’s the only reason or even main one)

Vox may even see the potential for exactly what their partnership could be and it’s a reason why he took it so personally when Alastor shot him down

And it’s just so interesting that Vox and Alastor act like forces that should be pitted against each other but their capabilities show that they would go together like peanut butter and chocolate (in theory)

was talking with @cringefailvox about canon radiostatic and ended up basically landing on how I think / hope their relationship in canon is mutually onesided:

maybe Alastor really enjoyed his friendship with Vox; maybe he misses it, and regrets losing it, and feels like Vox never held the same regard for their relationship as Alastor did due to how things ended

but over that is also a layer of Vox having been infatuated with Alastor and smarting over a rejection, and furthermore never quite being able to stop coveting Alastor as a person, as a source of power, and as a symbol specifically because despite being old fucking news Alastor is still so obviously, blatantly goddamn powerful in a way that incessantly flaunts his own outdatedness in the face of all of Vox's effort and innovation and accomplishment

just two people on completely different fucking pages, both wanting something from the other and angry and upset that the other can't just let them have it

maybe Vox's interest was romantic at one point but now it's just this amalgamation of pride and greed and resentment. very much "if he won't join me, I'll beat him." he doesn't love Alastor, but he carries the kind of resentment that's hard to generate if you didn't love a person (or at least the idea of them) at one point

meanwhile the reason that Alastor rejected him wasn't just because he wasn't interested in romance, but also because he lost respect for Vox as a person. it's all kinda wrapped up in itself - what Vox was asking for was too much, but part of the reason it was too much is because he was asking Alastor to sell out, because he was slowly finding more and more ways to sell out for the sake of power. and that's just the antithesis of what Alastor values and respects

the whole thing is framed in terms of old vs new technology but I feel like what it really comes down to is that Alastor values (his fucked up definition of) art and tradition, and Vox is the ultimate sellout

Also it’s not Wednesday anymore but i was sleeping when I got tagged, so I’ll post it anyway. A little wip of my next comic about my AU, this time focusing on Velvette and Valentino. Only two pages sketched so far. I don’t know if that one will stay only two pages or if i’ll add more.

It takes care a few weeks after the tower fell. They’re hiding in one of Val’s club, and moth isn’t dealing with everything that happened very well. Velvette is trying her best to console him while also having to deal with her own feelings and anger about the whole thing. (A little thing to note, in my AU and other stories I do not have the three Vees together in a poly relationship. Val and Vox are together, and Velvette is considered a family member and she considers them as family as well. I hc her as a lesbian)

I always feel very self conscious about tagging people because I’m always afraid to bother people. I'm sorry to disappoint but I am not that much of a reader when it comes to radiorose 😭 I've always been a big fan of @cringefailvox 's fics, especially meteor shower and their radiostatic week series, tho I've been so obsessed with Lucilith lately I haven't read their most recent work, I should catch up someday 😈

HOWEVER I am a huge fic reader when it comes to Lucilith bc I discovered that I love Dom Lilith content, and I don't know if I should share since most of it is nsfw lolol

I even surprised myself writing some Lucilith fics on my free time bc we don't get enough we are STARVING

Valentino stares at him, red-hot eyes unflinching. “I like it.” He says it so easily, so surely, like he’s already discarded the person he spoke to last week without so much as a fuss. In its place stands a brighter, shinier version, unmarred by the kinks and scars of living— a blank but familiar canvas Valentino appreciates just as much as the molting painting in the attic. A deep flush creeps onto Vox’s cheeks without his permission. Beside him, Alastor tenses, the smile on his face unreadable. “Thanks,” Vox chokes out. It’s futile to will his screen into dimming; that kind of bodily control is beyond the meager upgrades he's been able to infuse himself with. Maybe one day. “What are you doing out here? Taking the night off?” Valentino sighs with his entire body, the picture of drama. “I wish. Boss wants us to mingle with the crowd when we’re off-stage, make the show more intimate or something." He drapes himself across the bar, wings splayed like a beautiful tapestry that nearly swipes Vox's drink into his lap, and Vox- Vox tries his damnest not to stare. "Fuck that. He just wants to pimp us out without the extra pay.”

@cringefailvox made the mistake of lamenting the lack of Hazbin filler episodes in earshot of me, and I went off about it a little bit. Crossposting to Tumblr because I need to vent my frustration on this publicly Yet Again. unu

I WANT FILLER EPISODES. I WANT TO SEE HOW THE CAST INTERACTS WITH EACH OTHER IN CASUAL SETTINGS. I especially desperately want to know where Alastor stands with the rest of the characters, and where Charlie stands with Angel Dust.

We kind of get Alastor telling-instead-of-showing that he's growing fond of the others in the balcony scene with Niffty, but it's such a short/small moment that 1) we have NO idea how honest he's being with himself/Niffty about this because we haven't seen ANY of the six month timeskip and also 2) because it's such a short moment I think it just doesn't sink in for a lot of people anyway! It's sort of rare for me to see "growing fondness" reflected in post-canon between Alastor and the various hotel residents, and it's understandable why, when that one little semi-private reflection is all the insight we get on the subject.

Additionally, because there was so little time in the season, most of the character interaction moments we see are, like, more punchy high-emotion plot-relevant moments that feel pretty polarizing. And that makes it SO HARD to figure out things like where Husk and Alastor's normal relationship interactions lie on the scale of pilot-level silliness to "Alastor about to eat Husk's face in the hallway," or whether Charlie and Angel resolved any of their brewing conflict beyond Charlie's apology for interfering with his work - because there was soooOOO much more than that and their relationship was absolutely building toward making Angel Dust feel underappreciated and like the "irredeemable sex-having crackhead" compared to Sir Pentious, which I think could have been really poignant considering Pentious is indeed the one who got fucking redeemed!!!!!!! But that plot basically got dropped.

Like, last we checked in, Alastor and Vaggie both disliked Sir Pentious. Angel was able to bond with him some during Vaggie's exercises, but Vaggie refrained from killing him pretty much just for Charlie's sake and Alastor just barely sees him as a person. I want to see how they progressed to actually caring that he died!

I just. AMAZON I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU FOR THE 6 MONTH TIMESKIP FILLER WE WILL NEVER GET BACK. GREENLIGHT 12 EPISODES MINIMUM FOR SEASON TWO.
