eventually i'll have a syrupverse bible with this information but i'm jotting it down here too (tw: substance abuse, unreality)

havent really pinned down an age range but at some point in his life (thinkin preteen-late teens) barqfizz starts taking sillytonin and ends up using it constantly bc meds in this universe are basically candy. it actually helps him at first but reality starts distorting around him and he lays off of it for like a year or two until he meets curlicue, who gets him back on it while he's studying in college

tobert notices the effects the meds have on his perception and they bring it up as part of their final thesis as partners for school. through this they discover interdimesional portal travel and end up getting jobs in its development with hell-o-vision who (unbeknownest to either of them) arranged for barqfizz to get addicted to it in the first place
