Tim walking into Corruption!Damian's room, and gently placing a weird package down on Damian's desk while Damian watches. Tim giving Damian what Tim probably thinks is a meaningful look, taking in Damian's blank expression, and snorting. Tim rolling his eyes and just saying "You're welcome," before walking out again.

Damian has absolutely no idea what to make of it, until the eggs hatch.

A month later, Tim walks in with a slightly different package and does the exact same thing. Desk, stare, "You're welcome." Damian opens his mouth to ask, but Tim's already gone.

Tim keeps doing it, sometimes when Damian's not even in the room; Damian will just open his bedroom door, and there's a new package on his desk. Which would all be weird enough, if it weren't for the fact that the packages are all different. Different labels, different brands, different logos, even different languages on the labels & instructions.

Damian doesn't know what to do with all these moths. He can't let them loose, this isn't their native environment. He can't send them back, they're too fragile; he's terrified something will happen in transit, killing them all. He'd love to adopt them into his swarm, but Damian is unsure of exactly how that would work—he's never added anything, the moths simply chose him— plus, he doesn't know where the limits of his patron's generosity lie. At this point , Damian has more caterpillars than biomass to potentially hold them, and Damian doesn't want to crowd out the few resilient moths he has left, while also making life worse for the new ones.

(Damian probably shouldn't worry about that, given Jane Prentiss had a literal flood of worms at her command, but then, Damian's relationship with his swarm at this point in time is a hell of a lot healthier than Prentiss's. And the Corruption doesn't really do "healthy" in any way shape or form. So maybe he's right to.)

Damian ends up with a new greenhouse. He fills it with plants from around Nanda Parbat, but especially caters to the ailanthus trees he has shipped in. A perfect little Eden for his moths to inhabit.

Tim seems annoyed by this outcome. Damian finally loses patience, demanding to know what Tim thought the outcome would be. (What Tim's intentions were.)

Tim frowns, bemused. "You need more genetic diversity." Damian has no idea what he's talking about. "For your swarm," Tim clarifies.

"My swarm is fine!"

"Dames, you told me you had like 10 moths when you made it to Gotham." Tim raises his eyebrows, like he's stating the obvious. "You have to know that's not a healthy number. Right?"

Damian presses a hand to his chest, a protective tic Dick encouraged despite Damian learning years ago not to give away his feelings (especially not when they might risk his swarm.) "They're strong," he says, voice soft but firm, "they survived Grandfather, the Pit, my—recovery." (Damian doesn't like to think about those months, when his swarm was trapped under his skin, re-burrowing their tunnels, unable to spread their wings. The pain of his flesh being re-molded to its chosen purpose was nothing compared to the weeks Damian had thought the creatures he'd poured his whole being into nurturing, the special moths who changed in order to bond just with him, were extinct.) He glares at Tim. "We don't need your help."

"That's not what you said when I got back," Tim says with a smirk, and Damian looks away. Tim sighs. "I was going to stop soon anyway. Just... consider it, okay? None of us wants to deal with it if it turns out they're weak to the flu."

"They're moths," Damian snaps, more on instinct than anything else, "they can't get the flu."

"Actually, modern studies on transmissible disease—"

Damian scoffs and storms off. (Tim pats himself on the back for definitely winning that argument.)

Damian does not add Tim's foreign moths to his swarm. But... he does spend a lot of time in the greenhouse, reading or drawing, and letting his swarm run free. (Damian's their Hive, not their keeper. It's none of his business what his moths get up to when he lets them out to play.)

Remaking a four year old au I made back in 2020 when I watched rottmnt for the very first time! This was before the movie came out, and a lot of the themes and tropes from this old au got repurposed into my fic New Hardware lol. Its good to know I always liked bugs and also was evil 💜

I actually made this before I watched tmnt 2012, so it isn’t really based on the infamous wasp episode, but it could definitely be adjacent to that lol. It kinda freaked me out how much my art has improved since then, so I figured I’d pay homage to my past self by making art for her idea.

In terms of updated design, the old parasite was based on centipedes I think, but I’ve updated it to be based on my favorite fucked up looking worm guy, the bobbit worm. As for the basic story, essentially Donnie falls prey to a parasitic worm dude which does mind control about it to keep itself alive and also to try and synthesize more of its mind control venom and create copies of itself using Donnie’s science know-how.

Idk if I’ll do anything with this AU, depends how I’m feeling lol. Just thought it’d be a fun little exercise mostly.

we have Jeebies Deeby, a conspiracy loving ghost/cryptid hunter, on the left and P-K Etherton, a hobby herbalist, on the right. both use they/them, jeebies uses gamer additionally while p-k uses dude.

these two, besties for gods know how long, live in the apartment's basement together. on the night of the visitor's arrival P-K was in the middle of letting a centipede they had caught outside. both they and the little bug had witnessed it and fused, dude's own panic not helping their situation at all. they called out in agony to their roommate to put on protective wear and don't look out any windows.

and so, Jeebies puts on the most protective piece of clothing they own. Their ghost hunting disguise, constructed with thick fabrics would make sure no flesh was exposed. Gamer quickly checks on P-K only to see, well... that. Hunched over the hastily shut windowsill and still actively transforming was definitely their companion. Thankfully, dude stayed lucid.

This whole thing got Jeebies thinking though, and despite P-K's attempts to stop them, gamer eventually did look outside too, joining dude in being a freak.

Corruption!Damian being hit with a fear toxin variant that makes him project what he thinks is his worst fate onto someone he cares about. Damian, who was raised to always have pride in his monstrous side, to think that it made him better than mere humans, who found so much of his emotional fulfillment in nurturing his swarm. Damian, who wants to be useful & valued more than anything else.

Damian, whose worst nightmare would be to be helpless & human.

On a mission where Tim is captured and used as bait.

(Damian sees his brother turn to him with dark, wet holes where Tim’s eyes should be—Tim’s EYES, the focus of his power & bond with his patron, ripped out with such sloppy, unrestrained, uncaring violence—and is filled with such disgust, such fury, such ice cold horror that for the first time, Damian fully loses control. Instead of being one of the swarm, for a few glorious, biblically awful minutes, Damian is one with them. He is the thousand beating wings, the million crawling legs. He is the Hive, yes, and the countless insectile things bursting free of it. He is all of them, they are all of him, and all that matters is teaching the sniveling, pitiful wretch who dared to hurt One Of His Own the true meaning of Fear. Fear that crawls & gnaws. Fear that burrows & rots. Fear that drowns out your scream with writhing bodies & the beating of wings, as they bury you and blot out the sun.

Damian coming to after Tim knocks him out feeling… good, better than he ever has in his life, in a way he didn’t know was possible. Damian looking into Tim's face—bloody, yes, with surface-level bites & scratches, but with eyes still silver, unharmed, and whole—realizing with a detached, muted sort of nausea that can't quite break the bone-deep satisfaction what must’ve happened. “…Who did I eat?”)

The ones done on a sketchbook were made at my work bc the sketchbook is small and it doesn't weigh like the my fuckign tablet and also I have less anxiety carrying a little book of pochacco on my bag than a tablet on public transport.

I borrowed some of the anatomy medical books from my cousin to understand how to morph his stupid body and mix it with the one of a mantis bc mantises are Hugo coded for me, not only because they are green but also because they are cunty af.

The ones down here were like.... The first designs I was imagining for Hugo and at that point I didn't thought about how his face should look, but then while I was showing those to my cousin who is studying biology and asking if there were some parts ok in the anatomy of the mantis she said "you're avoiding the face too much, when are you going to stop running away from doing it?" And... Ok FINE

Also at first I wanted him to look dead and gray but that was too straight for a Hugo desing so now you guys get male bird Hugo but is actually not a male bird is a gender questionable insect.

His design is subject to change because I'm always unsatisfied with a bunch of things I do and I may or may not want to do a full organs organization and vertical dissection of this stupid homo.

So another idea came to mind just now

For Wheeljack's facial mods I heard you're still working on their structure and such. May I present my reference? I've been using a wasp mandible reference for the the way I've been drawing your wheeljack. It also reminded me of preying mantis and tiger beetle. Thought about how his jaws were supposed to split apart, and it gave me an idea.

I did a few concepts of my own and settled on this for his jaws. It's not exactly canon to your design, but I wanted to do my own take on it and wanted to know your thoughts! Just thought this was pretty cool :D Here's a little bit of what I had in mind!

Ok I will move on to my explanation now but thank you so much!! This is so gorgeous and I love it so much!! This is the sort of thing that would make someone hide their face for centuries and give their teammates nightmares if they were looking it dead in the face (looking at you Ratchet). This is exactly the level of terrifying that I was going for when I originally started writing this fic. It encapsulates it perfectly! He is an absolute nightmare in the best way possible

I have been having a lot of trouble figuring out how his facial mods would work, and that’s mainly because I haven’t been using any references LOL. When I first tried doodling his face wayyyy back in the first post about this AU I used a few screenshots of Terrorcon Breakdown, but I only used it loosely. I absolutely LOVE the insect references for his jaws, it really helps clarify the structure and when I opened the ask and saw them (particularly the mantis) I went “huh that’s actually really close to what I had in mind!” And the got completely blown away by the concept at the bottom LMAO

I originally based his facial mods (or at least how they unhinge) a lot on Predaking. His jaw splits down the middle and at the sides to create two halves (I THINK), and I thought it looked really cool so I wanted to do something like that. But especially now that I’ve been playing with how his jaw works again, I’ve been thinking that it would be better if it splits into three parts like how you drew it. It is more visually cohesive, and it also just makes more sense looking at it! It allows his lower jaw to drop down much further and his mouth to open much wider and just in general isn’t as awkward. I may have downloaded your art both to keep it forever and also to draw a few diagrams, I hope you don’t mind^^

While I do like the Predaking jaw, I think it works on Predaking but not on Wheeljack because Predaking’s face is so long and his is so flat. So if his jaw were to split into only two parts it would be very awkward, you can see all the lines in the drawing on the left where I kept redrawing his jaw because conceptually it didn’t make sense. Like I mentioned before it also doesn’t really allow his jaw to unhinge, which is a very important part of his design lol.

On the right however, it splits a lot more cleanly! It just all around looks more natural and less awkward and has a lot more maneuverability. I also love the addition of the teeth on the walls/sides of his mouth!! I added a few in my references bc it looked better and made his jaw come together a bit more in it’s horrifying-ness, but the addition of even MORE teeth just amplifies that. It also implies that when he latches on to something, all of the teeth dig in and make it extremely difficult to pull away, allowing him to just drag it into his mouth and shred it to pieces. If he bites down on someone, even if they’re strong enough to pull away they’re not getting their limb back in one piece. The way the teeth are curved in will ensure that they have to rip through their own plating to get away. He looks like a living iron maiden and I am OBSESSEDD

Plus the way his jaw splits is so much more extreme in a way that is so. LOOK AT HIM. When he opens his mouth it’s like a giant tear separates the upper half of his face from the lower half. Horrifying to behold and also looks like it would be painful even though it isn’t, which is exactly the vibe I was going for. He just doesn’t look Cybertronian. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Anyway sorry for the long rant, his jaws have been on my mind a lot because I’ve been struggling with the concept so I kind of just dumped all of the thoughts I’ve been having for 2+ weeks plus all of the thoughts I had when seeing your references and art. If you don’t mind I may be borrowing the references because they really do help illustrate how a split jaw would work. And also if you don’t mind this may be the canon design from now on, just because IT’S SO COOL!! And it makes so much sense conceptually, I actually cannot put into words how much I love this. It fits right in with the worldbuilding!
