Damian al Ghul had always known he was special. The heir to the Demon’s Head, the blood son of the Batman—perfection was expected of him. And perfection was what he would deliver, no matter the cost.

But there was one thing that had always unsettled him, a shadow lurking in the corners of his memory.

Danyal.

His twin.

For years, Damian had believed they were simply brothers, two sons of the Bat and Talia al Ghul, raised in the League of Shadows. But Danyal had always been… weaker. Slower. Prone to sickness. Damian had resented him for it, had seen him as a failure.

And then, one day, Danyal was gone.

No explanation. No funeral. Just silence.

Damian had been furious at first—how dare his mother discard his brother without so much as a word? But the League had ways of making disobedience painful, and eventually, he stopped asking.

Years later, after he had left the League and joined his father in Gotham, Damian thought he had moved on.

Until the night of the gala.

A socialite—some vapid, perfumed woman with too much champagne in her system—had leaned in and smiled. "You have your father’s eyes."

A common compliment. Meaningless.

But Damian froze.

Because these weren’t his eyes.

His original pair had been damaged beyond repair in a battle years ago. The League had replaced them without question, presenting him with new ones—perfect, sharp, familiar.

He had never asked where they came from.

Now, staring into the bathroom mirror, his stomach twisted violently.

The same green. The same shape. The same light that had once looked back at him with quiet resignation before Danyal disappeared.

"You have your father’s eyes."

No.

He had Danyal’s eyes.

And if that was true—

His hands shook as he pressed them against his ribs, remembering the surgery after the sword wound that should have killed him. The kidney transplant after the poisoning. The skin grafts after the fire.

All of them had been provided by the League.

All of them had come with no explanation.

His knees hit the cold tile as he retched, bile burning his throat.

How much of him was still him?

And how much was made of Danyal?

Elsewhere, in Amity Park

Danny Fenton adjusted the dark glasses over his cybernetic eyes, the faint hum of their mechanisms a constant reminder of what he’d lost.

His parents had done their best—replacing what the League had taken, piece by piece. His eyes. A lung. A kidney. Patches of skin.

But some things couldn’t be replaced.

Some wounds never really healed.

He exhaled, running a hand over the scars beneath his shirt.

Somewhere out there, his brother was still alive.

And Danny wondered if Damian even knew the truth.

Or if he wanted to.

“You have your father’s eyes”

Demon twins AU where Danny was created to be “spare parts” for Damian in case of any need for organ transplants.

Damian wasn’t aware of this at first; he thought they were regular siblings. Even once the first pieces were transplanted, he was lied to about their source.

And by the time he finally realized, it was far too late to change anything.

It should have been an innocuous comment—just a random Gotham socialite saying he had his father’s eyes. But then something clicked into place in his mind, and he sprinted for the bathroom before he emptied the contents of his stomach.

Because these weren’t his eyes. His original pair had been lost, replaced with new ones provided by the League. He’d never asked about the source, never let himself consider the truth that literally stared back at him every time he looked in the mirror.

He’d been given Danyal’s eyes.

Denver Nuggets – The Missing Piece

With the NBA season just weeks away and Free Agency upon us, the Denver Nuggets displayed a unique strategy.  They did nothing.  While names like Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Kemba Walker all switched teams, the Nuggets invested in bringing back everyone, adding no one.

Paul Millsap’s third-year, $30 million team option was picked up, Jamal Murray inked a 5-year/$170 million extension, and no player of significant value signed elsewhere.

Last year was terrific, but Denver did lose to a Portland team that was basically just Damion Lillard, were fortunate to avoid the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors, and teams like the Jazz, Lakers, and others have improved their rosters.  Did the Nuggets do enough by doing nothing?

Denver’s young core of Nikola Jokic, Gary Harris, and Murray should be slightly improved with another year of maturity, and the same goes for Malik Beasley and Monte Morris.  But a lot seems to be riding on last year’s success, and the potential of the 2018 lottery pick, Michael Porter Jr.

I don’t mind the strategy.  Play ten guys and don’t mess with team chemistry.  But as long as you have a few spots on the bench, there could be a free agent worth picking up as the missing piece to our playoff puzzle. Here are five free agent players that I think we could use.

Danny Green – SF/SG. Green would be the perfect fit for the Nuggets. As an elite defender at 6’6, Green could match up against some of the better guards in the West like LeBron, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, and others while providing the knockdown three-point shooter that the team lacks.  Green was on the NBA Champion Toronto Raptors last season, was All-Defensive team 2016-17, shot 45.5% from 3pt-range last year, and has a second ring from his days in San Antonio.  The only issue is he’s 32, made $10 million last year, and is looking for a long-term deal.

Tyson Chandler – C/PF. The Nuggets lack experience.  Chandler has played 18 years in the league including an NBA Championship with the Mavericks.  The Nuggets lack a defensive-minded rim protector.  Chandler was the Defensive Player of the Year in 2011, is a 3-time All-Defensive Team honorary, and has averaged 1.2 blocks a game during his career.  The Nuggets don’t have playing time or much money left to spend.  Chandler is 36 years old and averaged only fifteen minutes a game last year for the Lakers.  Offer a couple million and see if it works.

Markieff Morris – SF/PF. Currently, who is the toughest player on the Denver Nuggets?  Mason Plumlee?  Markieff would bring an edge to the Nuggets that they don’t have.  Every team needs an enforcer to take a hard foul, protect our stars, and make sure we’re not pushed around.  Just 29 years-old, Markieff can play physical down low, shoot the three, and step in perfectly at either forward position.    Markieff signed with Detroit?  Then make that Marcus Morris, his identical twin brother.  It might be a little more expensive to sign Marcus, but I’m pretty sure he’s only 29 as well.

Thabo Sefolosha – SG/SF. Sefolosha was a 2009-10 All-Defensive Team player as his 6’7 frame was perfect for shutting down opponents.  The problem is that he’s old (35), injured most of last year, and didn’t do much—averaging 12 minutes a game.  That’s okay.  Denver doesn’t need 12 minutes a game, they need 12 seconds.  Dust off the 13-year-vet at playoff time when the Nuggets are up by one, James Harden has the ball, and there are 12 seconds left in the game.  Unless you are comfortable with Torey Craig stopping Harden, or Steph Curry, or LeBron.

Pau Gasol – PF. How about a little experience at the end of the bench?  Gasol will be 39 years- old in a couple of days, but he has played 18 years in the NBA. That includes six All-Star games, four All-NBA selections, four Olympics, 136 playoff games, and two NBA Championships.  Gasol is a little old and coming off injury, but he wants to play!  I’m sure he’s good for a few quality minutes when the playoffs come around.  Think the Nuggets can’t afford him?  Well, Gasol has made over $200 million in his NBA career, but last year he played for $527,000.

Jason: What the hell are you talking about, Spooky? Danny: No judgment, man. Love is love. 💕 Jason: I AM RED HOOD. Danny: Sure, that’s what you’d want us to believe. 🤨 Tim: Oh no. He’s doing the thing. Dick: Oh my God, Jason. Are you secretly dating yourself? Jason: I hate all of you.

Bruce: Danny, explain this… situation with Jason. Danny: [innocently floating mid-air] I was just pointing out the facts, Bats. Jason and Red Hood spend a lot of time together. Bruce: Jason is Red Hood. Danny: Or he’s just really good at covering for his boyfriend. 😏 Jason: I am going to shove you into the Ghost Zone.

Alfred: Master Danny is currently taking a poll among the Gotham rogues about “Jason and Red Hood’s relationship status.” Bruce: …How is it going? Alfred: Surprisingly, Mr. Cobblepot believes it’s a deeply emotional connection.

[Danny’s Stream: “Conspiracy Theories with Phantom”]

Danny: So chat, here’s the evidence: Jason’s always defending Red Hood, Red Hood keeps showing up wherever Jason is, and they share the same motorcycle. Like, come on. Couple vibes. Jason: [bursting into the room] END THE STREAM, DANNY. Danny: See? He’s embarrassed. Totally dating.

Tim: You know this is going to become an internet rumor, right? Danny: Mission accomplished. 😌

I'll do you one, DANNY- Danny right- he's older than dick, like they're brothers, but they get separated- Dick ends up in with Bruce like in cannon, Danny ends up with the Fentons- full knowledge he's adopted, but he knows the Fentons love him like he's their own- he has his accident, gets his powers-, Dick and Danny stay in contact- dick knows about the powers, trys to help Danny- but they aren't twins, remember dick is younger-, dick becomes Robin- Danny knows and wholeheartedly supports- cue them growing up- UNTIL bring in young justice, dick gets concerned- Danny hasn't called in a hot minute- turns out he's just been organizing stuff with the fam Bruce+Fentons- the fentons go to Gotham- they visit the manor- Bruce finds out about Phantom- Danny starts watching over the yj team, maybe as a form of den mother(father?)- dick doesn't know, until Danny and the fentons show up, fluff happens, we see as the family grows maybe slightly sped up timeline? De-aged bat boys by a few years?- damion shows up B goes missing- DANNY- not dick! Takes custody of the boys normal hijinks ensue

So many of my drafts are just something similar to “SPICE UP YOUR WRITING! ADD SOME VARIETY! MAKE IT BATSHIT INSANE” and I honestly love the vibe so much. Fuck whump writing. Who needs H/C. No. Give me pure unadulterated chaos that it toes the line of being a crack fic but it’s still in character.

This in particular is for Batpham authors but ya know the general message applies to all writers

Make someone who’s bleeding out on the floor get confused because a strange ghost child fell out of a ghost portal and frantically patches them up and then zooms off without a single explanation.

Make the character who’s OP as hell (Danny) just casually talk about their insane exploits of time travel and resetting timelines like it’s your average tuesday.

Make the character who just desperately needs some help and assistance get forcibly mentally adopted by this funky ghost teenager who dotes on them in the most eldritch horror way possible.

Give it some chaos. Give your writing some pizzaz. Give it a sprinkle of real world writing and then throw a massive curveball at the readers and make them get engrossed in a fic they weren’t expecting at all and yet positively adore.
