Tumblr Userstyle: I’ll Be There for You. // Download.

This is a simple, yet elegant recoloring of the dashboard. It is heavily inspired by the Black Dashboard once offered by Tumblr back in 2010 to raise awareness for the BP oil spill, but edited to work for the current dashboard as we know it in 2025, with some personal little refinements to spacing to make it feel a little more breathable, and less 'loud'. It is fully optimized (and tested) for both the 'True Blue' color schemes, and 'Dark Mode'.

After navigating to the download page and installing it, it should automatically update your dashboard (you should do a restart if it does not), so all I can say is enjoy!

Recent updates:

Returned the font to 'Helvetica', Tumblr's former (old) font, instead of the new 'Favorit'.

Made the dashboard icons square again instead of round.

Got a little tired of the numerous different 'rounded corners', so I took the liberty of turning everything pointed for the sake of easy consistency.

If you notice something wrong, or missing:

Before notifying me, I kindly ask you to first return to the download page, and hit 'Reinstall' (it'll ask you whether you'd like to overwrite the current style, simply select yes) or 'Update' (whichever option pops up for you), to see whether I've already ran an update that fixes it. If not, don't hesitate to contact me, and I'll look at it ASAP! But I personally also use this style, so chances are that I may have caught it already.

Dashboard Unfucker Alternative

With the death of Dashboard Unfucker I wanted to share the link to my alternative (I know Tumblr hates external links so I'm making a separate post to make sure this userstyle reaches as many people as possible) The post is pinned on my Tumblr & I'll include a link in a Reblog & Replies just in case to make sure people can find this post!

Thank you dragongirlsnout for all your work on Dashboard Unfucker it was amazing working towards the same goal of fixing this website with you! The fact that this site has treated its trans users like this is absolutely horrible. I know we affectionately call this website a Hellsite, but right now, it's honestly feeling less of a joke.

I will continue to update my Old Tumblr Dashboard Userstyle for the foreseeable future and if anyone has any issues with it my Messages and Replies are always open - I try to get back to people ASAP!

Right now, my Userstyle is compatible with Dashboard Unfucker and can be used in unison to keep access to the ability to change the Width and Content positioning that Dashboard Unfucker has, as well as other features. This compatibility might not last as Dashboard Unfucker slowly fades out... Dashboard Unfucker is now sadly dead, however, I am working on a bonus Userstyle to add content positioning/width - this is now in Alpha testing!

Dashboard Unfucker v6.1.0

Hello, I have upgraded the script into a state I can call fully functional again!

Depending on your extension settings, you might get a notification for the update automatically, otherwise either go into the dashboard and click on the update button, or reinstall the script from Github

The OTD UserStyle is not longer a dependency, please disable it as it WILL cause broken formatting

Some features are also gone semi-permanently, just because they cannot be made functional in a simple manner again due to changes to Tumblr's internals. If I get enough requests, I'll consider adding them back, but it will take a bit of time

I wish tumblr were more customizable

I've gotten the old dashboard (Mostly) back thanks to Pixiel's stuff and Stylus (for firefox; For Chrome) and I've edited everything to make it cooler and to compensate for the shitty-ness that I am still unable to change (custom dasbboard palette which allowed me to add the background). My edits are far from perfect and sometimes the custom background clips into the blogs but at least it's somewhat mine. At least I have some control over it.

Idk it'd be nice if I could just move the dashboard a little more to the center and change the stuff on the side to have pictures that I WANT to show pinned, and some other stuff would've been cool as well.

I mean, I thought the whole point of tumblr before was for it to be your own customizable space. Scrolling through Stylus options I can't help but lament the various personalized dashboard options that just... don't exist anymore.

Idk, one of the greatest bits about tumblr was the customizable blogs for me. They looked really cool and drew me into the website in the first place, after all what other popular social media allowed you to change your own space so easily like that?

And now It's forcefully changing your space into...twitter.

Hit some key on my keyboard and ruin my stylus add on for tumblr and it took me like a full half hour to fix it including uninstalling and reinstalling and then desperately trying to find any userstyle that was still working so i do want to thank user @pixiel and their userstyle "Old Tumblr Dashboard" i owe you my life

I tried to install the Old Tumblr Dashboard userstyle (the one by Pixiel) after dashboard unfucker stopped working, but now the header meny has completely vanished! I can't see my activity, messages, go to settings or anything else! I tried uninstalling the userstyle but it did not work. Am I doing something wrong? Please, at this point I'll even take the official tumblr dashboard as long as I can access the menu! 😭

Does anyone know how ot fix this? Idk what to do!!

LOOKING FOR: Alpha Testers

I've been working on an additional userstyle that can be used to change the width of the dashboard!

as well as content positioning for Tumblr! Much like a feature Dashboard Unfucker has. This does require editing the userstyle yourself, it is fully annotated with directions on what to do as well as having the default numbers, so you can always go back if it doesn't look right. It also has a section so you can hide any of the icons on the header without needing Ublock!

This would be released as a second userstyle to be used WITH Old Tumblr Dashboard instead of being an update to OTD. This is so you can update OTD without worrying about your Content/Dashboard positioning settings changing!

However, it's still only a work in progress and likely has a few kinks! Would anybody be willing to be Alpha testers and test it out & let me know if you find any bugs or missing pieces before I release it fully?

Note: This userstyle (tentatively) SHOULD not affect your dashboard if you're using both Dashboard Unfucker & Old Tumblr Dashboard together. If you're using both you should use Dashboard Unfuckers controls. This userstyle is exclusively for OTD only.

Hm, Dashboard Unfucker is very slow to load. I prefer pixiel's Stylus script, but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a script to revert @staff's horrible user icon changes yet.

Also, how do I delete this shitty tab that says "Sanji" or whatever else they're currently pushing on us?
