The framing of this shot isn’t by accident
Tumblr media
I was part of the GA when season 4 released and this shot right here made me realize that they were gonna go through with a love triangle. Not only that, but that Will & Mike were likely going to end up together. Why? Because it’s been hardwired into my brain what this type of shot means. The person in the middle tends to end up getting the guy/girl. Here’s just a few examples from shows I’ve watched throughout my life.
Exhibit A: Ross & Rachel from Friends
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ross literally got married to someone else and STILL ended up with Rachel in the end. Because they’re each other’s lobsters. (That’s a Friends reference lol) This is my mom’s absolute favorite show in the world so I’ve seen episodes of this show a million times. She plays it every single day. Well, I know where I got my obsessive behavior from lol šŸ˜†
Exhibit B: Lizzie and Gordo from Lizzie McGuire
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was too young to actually ship them and appreciate them while it aired but recently did a rewatch and omg the best friends to lovers trope really does have me in a chokehold. So adorable! The final scene of the entire show is literally a cute ass montage of Lizzie and Gordo moments before a freeze frame of her kissing him on the cheek. Oh and they end up kissing in the Lizzie McGuire movie as well. I’d say that’s endgame lol
Exhibit C: Eli and Clare from Degrassi
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’d say this is the first ship that I actually obsessively shipped while it aired. Their popularity within the Degrassi fandom was insane and the writers knew that. So because they knew that, boy did they make us suffer and put us on one hell of a rollercoaster. So. Much. Drama. So much playing with our emotions. After everything they actually were endgame though. Miraculously. That’s not typical for a Degrassi couple. Oh, and Eli Goldsworthy was the original emo boy we all went crazy for lol boy drove a freaking hearse! His Degrassi entrance is legendary haha
So yeah anyways, Byler endgame! The Duffers absolutely know what they’re doing with a shot like that. They chose to make Will in love with Mike. It’s not like Mileven is a good ship either. They could’ve made them good together, but they didn’t. Why do all of that for Byler not to happen? Why make the main gay character suffer so damn much right up until the end? Especially for a show that’s meant for the marginalized and outcasts. Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Byler better be endgame istg…

When writing this "In Memoriam" on Steve Paxton, it was hard not to be overwhelmed with his myriad brilliant activities and the force of his intellectual curiosity. I focused on the questions he asked: Where does movement come from? What does our spine do in spherical space? Does an idea start with a feeling? How can we dance mutually, against hierarchies? His curiosity helped to create three major collectives: Judson Dance Theater, Grand Union, and Contact Improvisation. Dance Magazine posted the short version here: Steve Paxton's burning questions, my "In Memoriam" is posted at https://www.dancemagazine.com/steve-paxton-obituary/ My longer version is at https://wendyperron.com/steve-paxton-1939-1924-a-life-of-burning-questions/

But the challenge of coming up with a fresh look for one's psycho is really just a cover for a deeper dilemma: evil has no face, except perhaps in the mirror. Let's say, for example, that you're reading this book on the train to work. Now look around. Who among you is the liar, the adulterer, the thief? What about the arsonist, the psychopath, the cannibal? Really, it could be anyone. History is full of ordinary folks doing horrible things for no good reason. In stories, however, this homely truth strikes as unconvincing. We don't buy it. At least not in trade paperback. So fiction is left with a paradoxical task, one that religion, psychology, and the daily news all fail to achieve: to make reality believable.

no because the entirety of Bye Bye Hillridge Junior High is so very real to me (plus gordo forever has me in genuine shambles) you get to contemplate for just a day on what to shorten your ENTIRE junior year into to write in your friend's year book but don't know how to emote it all. the pressure to combine all your memories and sentiments into two sentences is a task :))
gordo wanted to say so much he hadn't said to lizzie THE ENTIRE SEASON but instead chose to be the best friend (again <//3) and rationally comfort her on how everything will be okay and how she'd done great the entire year, the flashbacks, anecdotes and reminders on how lucky he is to have her :,)))
'we got through middle school and we'll get through high school together.'
and then how his final quote of choice was "you rock, don't ever change. and only I really mean it."
so much heart ache for these 2 and the bond they share (GORDO YOU DORK ILY) :,))))

Will never get over the fact that we were robbed of the Lizzie McGuire revival </3
Even if Lizzie and Gordo wouldn't have been endgame, I still would have wanted to see those scenes onscreen, and to see Lizzie's journey going forward </3

...Or Your Money Back, David Gordon
Illustrated by Summers
Originally published in Astounding Science Fiction, September 1959
Criminal lawyer John – well, ā€œcounselorā€ – is used to odd clients. But when suave inventor Jason Howley storms into his office with a strange device that subtly shifts probabilities in dice and roulette, the case becomes downright surreal.
Howley claims his gadget grants minute but decisive psychic influence—enough to tilt the odds in his favor at the tables. Though it probably wouldn’t survive a patent search, it might just win him millions… unless it’s illegal. As they debate patents and criminal statutes, the counselor finds himself betting everything on a legal loophole—and on Howley’s audacious ā€œor your money backā€ guarantee.
A sharp, clever little tale where high-stakes gambling meets courtroom wits—and where the real question is: can you sue probability itself?

The first sentence of a novel is the most important, except for maybe the last, which can stay with you after you've shut the book, the way the echo of a closing door follows you down the hall.
