"We’re thrashing through previews (for better or for worse) and working out our particular take on Tolstoy’s novel - one of more than just trains. It’s obviously deeply sad in places; but it’s also grossly funny and stunningly life-affirming. “Anna Karenina” explodes humanity as families hurtle towards modernity." — DAVID OAKES

-----------------------------------------------
Y/N: ABSOLUTELY NOT LN: non-refundable, sorry. See you tomorrow
You threw your phone across the room, furious. Hadn’t he done enough? You had your resignation letter typed out, for god’s sake. Begrudgingly, you moved across the room to find your phone, calling your best friend.
“What’s up?” David asked.
“Lando Norris is coming to Austin to see me,” you said, as if it was the most normal thing in the world.
“Wait, why?” David questioned. You could hear his confusion over the phone.
“I don’t know, he posted that thing on Insta and then texted me that he bought a flight,” you complained.
David snorted, "He posted that thing and then immediately bought a flight? Sounds like someone's feeling guilty," David said with a hint of amusement in his voice.
You groaned, flopping back onto your bed. "I don't care if he feels guilty. I don't want to see him."
"You sure about that?" David asked skeptically. "Because it seems like you two have some unresolved tension."
"The only tension we have is me wanting to strangle him," you muttered.
David laughed. "Right, because that's totally normal behavior between two people who hate each other."
You rolled your eyes, even though he couldn't see you. "What am I supposed to do? He's just going to show up here."
"Well, you could always not be there when he arrives," David suggested. "Or you could hear him out. Maybe he genuinely wants to apologize.”
“You’re supposed to be on my side,” you complained to him and you heard him laugh in response.
“I’m always on your side, but let’s just say that Carlos isn’t the only one betting on when you two will get together.”
Instead of answering you hung up, not interested in hearing what he had to say anymore. You groaned before pulling yourself off your bed to begin cleaning. Deep cleaning your apartment always cleared your head and it killed two birds with one stone considering that Lando was coming the next day.
Lando didn’t answer any of your texts the rest of the night and you started to convince yourself that he wasn’t coming which had you relieved. That was shortlived when you heard someone knocking on your door the next day as you were eating lunch.
“You’re kidding,” you said, shocked as you opened your door to see him standing there, exhaustion written all over your face.
“I don’t have the energy to fight with you right now,” he mumbled, pushing past you with his small suitcase.
“I didn’t invite you to come,” you shot back, following him angrily. He set his stuff down near the kitchen island before turning back to you.
“My guilt was eating me alive so I had to come,” he said plainy.
You rolled your eyes, “I would have saved you the trip if you just would have called.”
He gave you a pointed look, you both knew you wouldn’t have answered.
“Can I please take a nap before I read the apology speech I prepared?” He asked and you fought hard against the laugh threatening to escape. It didn’t go unnoticed by Lando who smiled triumphantly.
“Fine,” you agreed, showing him to the guest room. “Why do you have your suitcase?”
“I didn’t book a hotel,” he replied nonchalantly.
“Then where are you going to stay?” He didn’t answer and you furrowed your eyebrows. “No. No way. Do you not remember that I don’t like people staying over?”
“I remember every single thing about that night. In detail,” he shot back and your face flamed red. “We won’t be in the same room so it should be fine by your rules.”
You stormed out of the guest room and slammed the door. You paced back and forth in your living room, trying to process the fact that Lando Norris was currently napping in your guest room. This was not how you expected your day to go. After about an hour, you heard the door open and Lando emerged, looking slightly more rested but still jet-lagged.
"Feel better?" you asked, unable to keep the sarcasm out of your voice.
He nodded, running a hand through his messy hair. "Look, can we talk?"
You crossed your arms, leaning against the wall. "Isn't that why you flew halfway across the world?”
"I had no idea what was happening y/n, you have to believe me,” he said honestly. “I got rid of social media mid season because of the amount of hate I was getting. I’m so sorry this happened.”
“The things that have been said about me Lando…” you trailed off, resolve cracking. “How could I want to keep doing this?”
Lando's face fell as he saw the pain in your eyes. He took a tentative step towards you, his voice soft. "Y/n, I'm so sorry. I never meant for any of this to happen. What they've been saying, it's not okay. Not at all."
You wrapped your arms around yourself, suddenly feeling vulnerable. "It's not just what they're saying. It's... everything. The threats, the harassment. They found my personal information, Lando. I don't feel safe anymore."
He ran a hand through his hair, frustration and guilt evident on his face. “You’re too good for us to lose you. That article you wrote? It was brutal, but it was honest. And that's what makes you great at your job.”
You didn’t say anything but didn’t stop Lando as he stepped even closer to you, his hands coming to cup your face.
“I need you there,” he admitted. “I need you to keep me on my toes, to keep me accountable. Don’t let them win.”
A tear escaped your eye and Lando brushed it away with his thumb, staring intensely at you. You laid your head against his chest, taking a deep breath.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered to you again.
“It wasn’t your fault,” you replied softly. Pulling away, you tried to collect yourself before turning back to him. “How long are you here for?”
“Couple of days,” he said sheepishly.
“You know I’m not going to sleep with you again just because you’re here,” you said and he rolled his eyes.
“I’ll try not to be offended that you thought that was what I wanted,” he replied.
“Whatever,” you said, heading towards your room.
“Pain in my ass,” you heard him mutter under his breath as you left.
The next day was actually enjoyable, as much as you didn’t want to admit it. You and Lando got brunch before walking around the city, you showing him the touristy sights.
As you walked along the river, you couldn't help but sneak glances at Lando. He seemed more relaxed here, away from the pressures of the F1 world. You had to admit, when he wasn't being an insufferable prat, he was actually quite charming.
"What?" Lando asked, catching you staring.
You quickly looked away. "Nothing. Just surprised you haven't complained about the heat yet."
He chuckled. "I'm not that delicate, you know. Besides, the company makes it bearable."
You rolled your eyes, but couldn't hide your small smile. "Careful, Norris. That almost sounded like a compliment."
"Don't let it go to your head," he teased back. “What are we doing tonight?”
“Maybe just a movie back at the apartment,” you said. “Thanks to your apology speech, I actually will have to go back to work tomorrow.”
He grinned at you. “Glad to hear that.”
“Yeah my first piece back will be ‘Why Oscar Piastri is my pick to win the 2025 championship.’”
You squealed as he moved into you, tickling into your sides.
That night, you and Lando were curled up on opposite ends of your couch, watching a movie. You kept sneaking glances at him, noticing how relaxed he looked in your space. It was a far cry from the tense interactions you usually had at the track.
As the credits rolled, Lando turned to you with a soft smile. "This was nice. I'm glad I came."
You nodded, feeling a warmth in your chest you weren't quite ready to examine. "It was. Thank you for coming, Lando. I know I gave you a hard time, but... it means a lot that you cared enough to fly out here."
He reached over, gently squeezing your hand. "Of course I care, y/n. Despite our... complicated history, I've always respected you. And I hate that you were hurt because of me, even indirectly."
“I appreciate it,” you whispered. He stared at you a little longer, his eyes flickering down to your lips before he spoke again.
“Sequel?” He asked and you smiled, nodding your head.
As the next movie started, he didn’t move back to his spot, instead staying very close to you. As you felt yourself drifting off, you snuggled into his side, much to his amusement. The last thing you remember was him placing a gentle kiss to the top of your head.
The soft morning light filtered through the curtains, gently rousing you from your slumber. As consciousness slowly crept in, you became aware of a warm presence beside you, a steady heartbeat beneath your ear. Your eyes fluttered open, and the events of the previous night came rushing back.
You were still on the couch, curled up against Lando's side, his arm draped protectively around you. Sometime during the night, he had pulled a blanket over both of you, cocooning you in warmth. The TV screen was black, the movie long since ended.
Panic seized your chest as the full weight of the situation hit you. You had spent the night with Lando. Not just in a physical sense, but in the most intimate way possible - wrapped in each other's arms, vulnerable in sleep. This was exactly what you had always feared, the reason you never let anyone stay over.
Slipping out of his arms, you tried to calm yourself down as you headed back into your room. Your mind was racing as you showered, your feelings for Lando bubbling to the surface even though you pushed them down.
Lando was sitting up and scrolling through his phone when you came back into the living room. He looked up at you, face instantly scrunching as he saw you.
“What’s wrong?” He asked.
“Nothing, what time is your flight?” You asked, without any emotion. Lando moved off the couch towards you, grabbing your arm as you turned away from him.
“Y/n, what’s wrong? Is this because of last night?” He asked and you flinched, giving him the answer he needed.
“You need to go Lando, thank you for coming, but it’s time for you to go.”
“Wow,” he said in disbelief. “I’ll go when you can look me in the eye and tell me that all you still feel for me is hatred.”
“Lando please,” you said, begging.
“Why are you pushing me away?” He asked, frustration evident in his voice.
You took a deep breath, finally meeting his gaze. "Because it can't work, Lando. We can't work."
His eyes flashed with hurt and anger. "Why not? Give me one good reason."
"We live in different countries, for starters," you said, your voice strained. "Our careers are completely incompatible. I'm supposed to report on you objectively, and you're supposed to trust that I won't use anything personal against you in my articles."
"That's bullshit and you know it," Lando snapped. "Look at Fernando and Melissa. We could make it work if we wanted to."
You shook your head, wrapping your arms around yourself. "It's not just that. We're too different, Lando. We argue constantly. Half the time I want to strangle you."
"And the other half?" he challenged.
“It doesn’t matter,” you said.
“It does to me,” he shot back.
“What would happen if we were together Lando?” you asked tirelessly. “If your fans hated me for writing about you, how would they treat me for dating you? I’ve seen how they treated your exes.”
Lando was quiet for a moment, anger steaming off of him.
“Don’t worry about it,” he finally said, coldly. “I guess I’m not worth it.”
You started to call after him but he was already gone.
—--------------------------------------------
Lando’s season started off incredibly, winning the first three races all by over 5 seconds minimum. You would think that he would be ecstatic, his boyish energy returning to interviews and PR videos but that was not the case. He was pissed. Anyone that tried to talk to him was met with short answers and anytime McLaren made him do anything, he looked like he was being held at gunpoint.
He wanted to get over you but he couldn’t. He’d never had anyone challenge him the way you did and he could still feel you sleeping in his arms that night from a couple of months ago. His friends were walking on eggshells around him and Carlos was about to lose it.
“Please just call her,” Carlos begged, sitting next to Lando at dinner in Monaco. They had a couple weeks in between races and what was supposed to be an enjoyable break, was turning into a nightmare for Carlos due to Lando’s moodiness.
“She doesn’t want anything to do with me, she made that quite clear,” Lando replied.
“She’s just scared Lando, she’s literally been checking up on you,” he told his friend. A look of interest flashed across Lando’s face so Carlos kept going. “Oscar said she asked how you were doing just last week.”
“I don’t believe you,” Lando finally said and Carlos groaned, resting his head into his hands.
You were miserable. The past few months since pushing Lando away had been some of the hardest of your life. You threw yourself into work, covering IndyCar and trying to ignore the ache in your chest every time you saw news about Lando's incredible start to the F1 season.
But no matter how much you tried to distract yourself, thoughts of him kept creeping in. The way he looked at you that morning on your couch, hurt and confusion in his eyes as you pushed him away. The feeling of falling asleep in his arms, more content than you'd been in years.
You knew you had valid reasons for ending things before they really began. The complications of your careers, the distance, the intensity of F1 fandom. But the longer you went without talking to him, the more those reasons felt like excuses born out of fear.
OP: Hey, you asked about Lando last week. Thought you might want to know he's in a pretty bad mood lately. Carlos is at his wit's end.
You frowned, guilt gnawing at you. Was Lando's mood because of you? No, that was ridiculous. He was probably just stressed about the season, despite his early successes.
Y/N: Thanks for letting me know. I'm sure he'll snap out of it soon.
OP: c’mon y/n, I know you’re just as miserable as he is.
You cursed your friend David who you knew told Oscar about how depressing your life had become. As you sat in your apartment that night your mind wandered back to that last conversation.
Why did you push him away? Because you didn’t want to get hurt?
The truth was, you were terrified. Terrified of letting someone in, of being vulnerable, of potentially getting your heart broken. But as you reflected on the past few months without Lando, you realized you were already heartbroken.
With shaking hands, you picked up your phone and dialed a number you had been avoiding.
"Hello?" Lando's voice was hesitant, guarded.
"Hey," you said softly. "It's me."
There was a long pause. "Y/n? Is everything okay?"
You took a deep breath. "No, actually. Everything's not okay. I... I miss you, Lando. And I'm sorry. I'm sorry for pushing you away."
Another pause. And then nothing. He hung up.

Sixteen flaggies and four Goodreads "Want to Read" additions later, I have completed my reading goal for the year!!
I enjoyed this one. It references STEERING THE CRAFT a lot in the On Writing section (which is another good one that I read at The Wrong Time), and I liked the On Poetry section way more than I was expecting to for someone who has a hard time with poetry.
Surprisingly, most of my flags were on the On Nonfiction section? And I've bumped (another of) her essay collection(s) up my TBR, based on what they talked about in this book.
This was a good book for adding a Lot of Other Books to the reading list!
Tumblr media
Books of 2023: CONVERSATIONS ON WRITING by Ursula K. Le Guin with David Naimon.
Currently dual wielding books, over here--I've never really been big on reading two different fiction books at once, but I can pair fiction with nonfiction just fine.
I haven't read as much nonfiction as I'd hoped to this year (overcorrecting from last year, apparently), so I'm excited to get back into some Writers Writing about Writing stuff while I cool off of my current project before I gear up for NaNo. This one starts with "In Memoriam," though, so I suspect it'll probably break my heart a little bit. This is Fine™.

Skoro dva miliony osob byly vysídleny, často i několikrát. Zdemolována byla většina čističek, zdrojů vody i zemědělské produkce.
Školy a nemocnice, vedené mezinárodními organizacemi, se stávají terči vojenských útoků. Mezinárodní lékaři a lékařky dokumentují zranění dětí odpovídající cílené střelbě. Vědomě byli zabíjeni záchranáři.
Zatímco mezinárodní trestně-právní orgány a humanitární organizace dokumentují, vyšetřují a odsuzují tyto válečné zločiny, česká vládní reprezentace zarytě mlčí. Pokud promluví, obhajuje a legitimizuje krvavé počínání izraelské vlády, na mezinárodních fórech hlasuje proti klidu zbraní a s izraelskými protějšky prohlubuje spolupráci.
Dávno jsme dospěli do bodu, kdy nelze genocidě v Gaze přihlížet.
Hladovění a mrzačení dětí nepatří do společnosti, kterou chceme a potřebujeme být.
Využijme tuto tragickou příležitost k vyjádření nesouhlasu s válečnými zločiny.
Podpořme dodržování mezinárodního práva a vyjádření respektu vůči právům lidským.

Bad Omens - Deacon Kay x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
Based on the song “Bad Omens” by 5SOS

Warnings : angst, angst, angst & once again angst. no happy ending, breakups, (Deacon gets back w Annie), in this fic Annie & Deacon don't have kids !!!, heart break, talks/mentions of cheating?
NOT BETA READ!
A/n : the fanfic writer curse has really been kicking my ass recently :’) so I wasn’t posting any fics for a while bc of it. But anyways enjoy and as always this is just based on my interpretation of the song/lyrics :) (yes I am incapable of writing a happy ending currently🥲) I might rewrite this someday since I'm not 100% happy with how this has turned out.
word count : 672
song fic masterlist
regular masterlist
Honestly you should've seen it coming. You always knew you'd come second place to Annie. Deacon's high school sweetheart and “one true love”
Deacon always talked about her a lot since they were still good “friends” Even his coworkers would talk about her a lot. You knew you could never compare to Annie, since she was prettier and smarter and just- more Deacon’s type….
You tried your best to get along with Deacon’s friends, since you loved him so much and you wanted this relationship to work out.
One day you decided to visit Deacon at the SWAT HQ and bring the team some cookies. Walking towards the HQ kitchen you overheard Deacon talking about you. Pausing you stood still listening in to what was being said.
“I mean I love Y/n but- she's just not Annie yknow? Annie was always so happy and sweet while I feel like recently Y/n has been pulling away from me. What if she's cheating on me?” Deacon said aloud. He had no idea you heard him. You could feel like crying and your heart dropped to your stomach hearing his words. The man you loved so deeply just accused you of cheating on him.
Quickly turning on your heel you rushed out of HQ still holding the plate with cookies you brought. Getting into your car you drove away towards a nearby beach to sit and think.
You always felt like you were in second place in David's life, but hearing him accuse you of cheating just made you feel even worse. Maybe agreeing to this relationship knowing how much he still liked Annie was a mistake...
Deciding to pull out your phone you sent him a quick text saying “We need to talk. It's important.” Before putting your phone on ‘do not disturb’ and driving home.
Deacon was already waiting at home for you with a worried look on his face and upon seeing you he started asking a million questions as to where you were.
“I think we should break up.”
You interrupted him, Deacon's face fell and he looked hurt and confused. “But I thought-” You just shook your head no. “This isn't working. I'll never be first place for you. It'll always be Annie since she's your first and only true love. I overheard what you said at the station and I just can't keep doing this. I can't keep on feeling like I'm less important to you.” You said while wiping away a few tears.
“Y/n sweetheart….that's not true. I love you and you're my number one girl. Annie is just a friend to me. I've known her for so long it wouldn't make sense for me to just cut her off suddenly.” Deacon said while frowning.
“I'm done. I'm sorry Deac, I'll go pack my things now. I'll come grab the rest of my stuff tomorrow.” You said while heading further into the house and towards your shared bedroom before grabbing a bag and packing some essentials while Deacon just watched with pure heartbreak and anguish written all over his face. “But we can still be friends right?” He asked nervously to which you shook your head.
“I think it's for the best if for now we don't contact or see each other for some time.” You replied while zipping up your bag. “I'm sorry David.” You said softly while kissing his cheek one last time before heading out of the door.
It wasn't fair to either you or Deacon. You knew he always loved Annie more. I mean she's perfect…
-
A few weeks later Deacon and Annie started to date again and seeing their new photos on the social media platforms you were still following Deacon on, you felt like crying. You always knew it would probably end up like this. You'd get your heart broken and Deacon would end up with Annie. But at least you broke the cycle of constantly getting your heart broken every time Deacon sang praises about Annie right…?

i have really complicated feelings about rudyard funn being aro ace because when it's not Explicit In The Text, he's an aroace icon. there's never been an acer man. ne'er a more aromantic guy to be found. but when david k barnes Word Of God calls him aro and/or ace i'm like you fucked up is what you did. like, if it's an accident and he's just a guy who happens to be Like That, i'm slapping flags he would not in a million years ever understand all over his horrible tiny body. but if a writer said "what is an aromantic asexual character like?" and then produced rudyard funn? that's a hate crime

Things we learned during the Just in Time promotional press tour, including Tony Awards campaigning (February to June 2025):
Jonathan will start converting his dad's horse farm to an artist's retreat this year (Table Manners podcast)
He sang at Bee Shaffer's wedding (Anna Wintour's daughter). Anna asked the Vogue staff to find a new photo for an article after seeing his performance in Just in Time, and she then sent Jonathan an email praising him. Anna also came to see him in Deathtrap in London, (Table Manners and 'The Run-Through with Vogue' podcast)
He was going to be receiving a meal delivery service (Daily Dose) from February until the Tony Awards as he had no time to go out for meals, and would then try to cook for himself. "Once I get my days free I'm going to, like, cook. Make eggs?" (Table Manners podcast, Vogue podcast, others).
He has five guests at every show who are invited back to his dressing room, and the cast are invited to join (Erika Henningsen in Broadway Direct interview).
He thinks he may have a leather fetish. "I like the smell of it, feel of it..." (Jimmy Fallon show, Vogue podcast)
His leather chaps for the Beyonce concert in May were purchased from Go at The Leather Man in Christopher Street, West Village "who got me baby's first chaps... I'm the baby and those are my first chaps." (Jimmy Fallon)
The promotional push for four months with only one day off (spent responding to texts for 10 hours) was physical and relentless: "I'm killing myself... I am killing myself... now it's the big publicity push to June 8th. I don't have time to have a normal life right now." The most time he is off stage during the 2 hour and 30 minute show is 45 seconds. (Vogue podcast)
He is planning an event with Lea Michele in fall/winter 2026 to mark their 20 years of friendship. He wouldn't give any more details, but says he has been "speaking to people" to make it happen (Happy Sad Confused podcast, Evan Ross Katz Instagram story)
Previous lovers have asked to spit on him, and he has consented (Andy Cohen Sirius XM)
He is working with a physical therapist to ensure he is fit for each show, and does a 30 minute dance warm-up before each show taught to him by choreographer Shannon Lewis (Unknown, various)
He no longer stage doors because he did it a few times at Merrily We Roll Along, got RSV, and other members of the cast got sick. He meets guests after each show for about an hour, and would feel guilty if he didn't get to meet and speak with every person at the stage door (Andy Cohen Sirius XM interview)
When Jonathan mentioned playing the drums in the Seth Rudetsky Frozen group interview in 2020, he was preparing for 'Just in Time', which wouldn't go ahead until five years later (unknown)
His top five songs on Spotify last year were by Beyonce, followed by Bobby Darin (unknown, a few places)
He goes on stage with sugar free black cherry Halls in his mouth and calls them 'lozengers'. Started doing this in 'Little Shop of Horrors'. (Kelly Clarkson Show)
Mentions "and I fell down a YouTube K-Hole [ketamine]. Rabbit hole? K-Hole?". Also says the Tony nomination for Just in Time was more personal due to his long-term investment in the project. (Evan Ross Katz interview)
Jonathan was irrationally defensive about criticism of his piano playing while he was learning (NPR Wild Card)
Jonathan lost his early religious faith while 'spelunking' (NPR Wild Card)
He served oatmeal to other guests on the silent retreat in Massachusetts (taken a few weeks after Merrily ended), and he has also been on silent retreats in Lava Hot Springs and outside Quebec (Stephen Colbert, Andrew Chappelle Tactful Pettiness podcast - see that podcast from late 2024 for more interesting stories - previously written up on Tumblr)
Five favourite musicals are Cabaret, All that jazz, Grease, Sound of Music and Mary Poppins (Happy, Sad, Confused podcast)
He went to Australia to see the Beyond The Sea musical with David Campbell, and later flew to Malibu, with his then boyfriend (Corey Baker) to meet with Dodd Darin (Various)
He bought leather shorts in Berlin and wanted his fight scene in the Matrix to be over so he could go out to clubs (Vogue, USA Today)
He started therapy two years ago (Stages podcast)
Asked what his parents would assume he was arrested for - sodomy (Stages podcast)
He no longer makes any birthday wishes because he is content with what he has (USA Today)
He still says singing does not come naturally to him and he still needs a lot of practice and a way in to emotionally connect with a song before he can sing it. (Backstage Babble podcast)

[16:59] stop laughing lee heeseung
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
word count: 557 fluff, established relationship, non idol au, college setting. halloween memories. heeseung creates his last minute halloween costume works note: this is a re uploaded work (in case you felt deja vu lol)
Tumblr media
you gasped for air as you arrived on a flash after receiving a text from your boyfriend ‘sos, need your help asap’ you read after getting out of your class making you run back to his place.
"I´m here hee! what's the emergency? you said out loud looking for him, silence. the center area of the apartment was dark and no noise was heard worrying you. "love?" you said while looking for him "where are you?"
a muffled angry sigh came out of the lit-up walk-in closet in heeseungs room
"is everything okay hee? I got worried you were not answering when I called you”. you said opening the door and seeing clothes all over the floor and heeseung with your makeup bag on the counter, rubbing his face with a makeup brush.
you looked at him in pure silence shocked to see his face smeared in red, the white towels covered with the same paint with blue strokes, and your red lipstick open and broken on top of it.
"what's going on?" was the only thing that came out of your mouth.
heeseung sighed again, "the guys want to go to a halloween party and they told me last minute, I'm trying to plan my costume"
you looked at his face, then you observed the pile of clothes and you looked back at him bursting out laughing.
"baby, don´t laugh" he whined at you looking helpless.
"sorry, sorry," you said still observing him curiously "and what are you supposed to be?" you asked hearing his gasp as you finished your question.
"is it not obvious?" he asked while you stayed silent "baby! of course I'm david bowie," he said while opening his arms to further his explanation.
you could see the vision but between his messy hair, the strokes on his face, and the outfit separated on the side. the image of seeing heeseung stressed over a costume, made you start laughing again.
"babyy, stop laughing, I tried my best" he groaned closing the distance and holding your waist. "I can see," you said caressing his cheek full of lipstick. "can you fix it?" he asked with pleading eyes.
you held his face looking at his mess "I can't do miracles love" you said jokingly as he gave you a deadpan look.
"okay okay, I think I can help you," you said moving his face around and realizing he had lipstick up his hairline "let's try to fix it okay?"
he kissed your cheek smearing all the makeup now on your face. as you turned around still in his arms you saw all the makeup on both of your faces in the mirror breaking into a fit of laughter again.
"stop laughing at me babe," he repeated squeezing your waist.
"sorry, it just looks…" you started again trying to start a game plan to fix it in a short amount of time. you let go of him before going to your designated drawer in his room with your stuff "I'll grab some makeup remover, don't move" you said kissing his cheek not caring anymore about the mess.
as you left to grab that you turned back to see him "you know it would´ve been easier to be a vampire right?" you said before making your way back to his room in between laughs.

is there any aromantic themed folklore stories?
I think that very much depends on your personal definition. Of course there are plenty of folktales that do not include romance, but for me that usually isn't quite enough to consider them aromantic. For me the folk- and fairy tales that feel the most aromantic to me, are the ones where the plot makes me expect there will be a love interest along the way or a wedding at the end, but instead there is neither.
Here are the ones I've taken a personal liking to so far:
The Shoes That Were Danced to Pieces
Source: Cape Verdian folktale, collected by E. Parsons from Antonio Soares Rosa in 1916-1917.
Content warnings: princess-shaming.
Character I read as aro: The hero.
Why: He answers a royal proclamation that states that whoever is able to find out how the princess wears out seven pairs of shoes every night can marry her and have half the kingdom. When he accomplishes this, however, he declines the marriage and returns home to build his mother a new house.
Read it: Full text online.
How The Devil Married Three Sisters
Source: Italian folktale, published by Widter and Wolf in 1866.
Content warnings: fairy tale violence, abusive spouse.
Character I read as aro: The youngest of the three sisters.
Why: While the first sister is pleased by her handsome suitor (the devil) and the second sister is also described as "wooed and won" by him, the third agrees to marriage only because he is rich. She proceeds to save her sisters, outsmarts the devil, and they all get away.
Read it: Full text online.
David Cotterson
Source: Danish fairy tale, collected by Jens Kamp, published in 1879.
Content warning: suicide contemplation, fairy tale violence.
Character I read as aro: The hero, David Cotterson.
Why: His biggest desire is to become a sailor and see the world. In his biggest adventure he defeats a seductive witch, saves a prince who has been cursed to be a dog. He then decided what he wants most of all is to got home to his loving parents, which he does.
Read it: Offline in this book, or my summary online.
The Squire’s Bride
Source: Norwegian folktale, collected by Asbjørnsen and Moe, published 1841-1844.
Content warning: attempted arranged marriage, attempted kidnapping.
Character I read as aro: The heroine, a farmers daughter.
Why: She's being courted by an old, rich squire. She rejects him, not for a better (kinder, younger) suitor, but simply because she doesn't want him. He doesn't back down so she humiliates him to teach him a lesson.
Read it: Full text online.
The Three Brothers
Source: German folktale, collected by the brothers Grimm, published 1857.
Content warning: ends with natural death.
Characters I read as aro: The protagonists, three brothers.
Why: Their father tasks them to learn a trade to show who deserves to inherit their family home. They become a master barber, blacksmith and swordsman, and the third inherits the house. But because they love each other so much they decide to share the house. They live happily and grow old together, after which all three die close together and are laid in the same grave.
Read it: Full text online.
Diarmaid and Grainne
Source: Celtic legend, Scottish variant collected by H. MacLean in 1859, from Alexander Macalister.
Content warning: tragedy, coercion, murder of protagonist.
Character I read as aro: The warrior Diarmaid.
Why: He has a love spot on his face, which he keeps hidden to prevent women from falling in love with him. Grainne (who is married to his lord Fionn) sees it and falls for him, but he refuses to go with her until she outsmarts him and places him under obligation to do so. He goes with her but they live in a house with separate beds. Grainne betrays Diarmaid for yet another man and Diarmaid ends up being killed by Fionn before he realises that Diarmaid has never touched his wife.
Read it: Full text online.
Slawa
Source: Romanian fairy tale, found in a German collection from 1977, sadly unsourced.
Content warning: attempted kidnapping, fairy tale violence.
Character I read as aro: The heroine, Slawa
Why: She is a poor young woman so beautiful that the cruel tsar wants to marry her. She keeps refusing and he gets violent, so she resorts to defeating him with magic (which she has because she was once a doll brought to life through the love of her parents), so she is free to go see the world.
Read it: You can download my translation here.
King Bear
Source: Danish folktale, collected by Jens Kamp, published in 1879.
Content warning: animal death.
Character I read as aro: One of the two protagonists, the eldest of two brothers.
Why: The older brother doesn't fully understand why his younger brother has fallen in love with an imprisoned princess, but helps him win her hand anyway. He stays happily at the royal court, but never marries himself.
Read it: Offline in this book.
And just because I still love them, I did write two literary fairy tales with aro protagonists myself some years ago:
The Man and the Mermaid, in which a man meets a mermaid after losing the woman he thought he wanted to marry.
The River Sprite, in which a woman helps a river sprite who is determined to repay her.
Hope there's something on this list that makes you happy!

masterlist of introductory materials for the hebrew bible and new testament
below are resources intended for beginners. these would be assigned to upper level undergraduate theology courses or first year theological master degree courses. they represent academic/ "the Academy's" mode of introducing material. bold are titles most frequently used in syllabi.
these are just general introductions, done well but limited by scope. they attend to the testaments as a whole, not their individual books. i recommend, after getting introduced, that your self-study explore particular books, and then, particular hermeneutics: womanist theology, feminist, mujerista, postcolonial, queer, liberation, etc.
as always i recommend reading the texts themselves: an nrsvu(e) translation is expected in academic theology, and this one is a great annotated version.
sefaria is also useful—a jps translation that allows you to see alternative translations for each word

Anne's World: A New Century of Anne of Green Gables
Part 1: Introduction (Irene Gammel)
"Anyone who has ever encountered her in one of L.M. Montgomery's novels will never forget her, for she is what we're not - and all that we long for and shall never become." - Jack Zipes on Anne Shirley
Key questions the book wants to answer:
"How do we read this early twentieth-century novel in ways that are relevant for readers of the twenty-first century?
How do the novel’s ethical dimensions fit into our own era?
Can Anne of Green Gables be read as a therapeutic text, capable of counteracting depression?
What is the power and danger of digital encounters with Anne?"
The goal of this book:
To consolidate and expand upon previous scholarship and information by placing Anne in its contemporary context while also exploring the reception and cultural impact, providing new references for future study.
The essays:
'Seven Milestones: How Anne of Green Gables Became a Canadian Icon' (Carole Gerson) "argues that Anne’s longevity is partly the result of a series of ‘institutional, commercial, and grassroots interventions."
'Matthew Insists on Puffed Sleeves: Ambivalence towards Fashion in Anne of Green Gables' (Allison Matthews, David and Kimberly Wahl) "argues that the text allows Anne Shirley to have it both ways: others want her to be fashionable and ambitious, whereas she wants to fit in."
'I'll never be Agelically Good: Feminist Narrative Ethics in Anne of Green Gables' (Mary Jeanette Moran) "reveals that the novel conforms to a feminist ethical paradigm because it tends to value those ethical choices that preserve or maintain relationships to support the principle that those who nurture others must also care for themselves, and to challenge the assumptions that women naturally care for others or that they alone bear the responsibility to do so."
'Too Headless and Impulsive: Re-reading Anne of Green Gables through a Clinical Approach' (Helen Hoy) "argues for the possibility of reading Anne Shirley as a psychological case study."
'Reading to Heal: Anne of Green Gables as Biblio-therapy' (Irene Gammel) "argues for reading Montgomery’s fiction within the important context of bibliotherapy, or the use of books in the treatment of personal and mental disorders."
'Reading with Blitheness: Anne of Green Gables in Toronto Public Library's Children's Collections' (Leslie McGrath) "examines how Montgomery’s literary reputation endured wide swings of critical opinion"
'Learning with Anne: Early Childhood Education Looks at New Media for Young Girls' (Jason Nolan) "looks closely at Anne of Green Gables: The Animated Series, Anne’s Diary, and New Moon Girls as prominent examples of how Anne of Green Gables and the work of Montgomery in general have been taken up as locations for formal and informal learning, through the identifi cation of Anne as variously a marketing icon, as an ideal young girl, and through the way Montgomery constructed learning environments within her novels."
'On the Road from Bright River: Shifting Social Space in Anne of Green Gables' (Alexander MacLeod) "studies the ways in which the characters inside the novel, like the readers outside of the text and the real-world visitors to the Green Gables National Park site in Cavendish, Prince Edward Island, are all engaged in a complex process of reading and rewriting social space"
'Anne in a "Globalized" World: Nation, Nostalgia, and Postcolonial Perspectives of Home' (Margaret Steffler) "explores the impact of the novel and character both outside and within Canada, arguing that the attraction of Montgomery’s work continues into the twenty-first century because it resonates with conditions in contemporary lives and culture, specifically the emotions and activity involved in migratory patterns of losing and creating home"
'An Enchanting Girl: International Portraits of Anne's Cultural Transfer' (Andrew O'Malley, Huifeng Hu, Ranbir K. Banwait, Irene Gammel) "shines a light on the crossover points from one culture to another, identifying cultures that have ‘appropriated’ Anne for very different purposes"
'What's in a Name? Towards a Theory of the Anne Brand' (Benjamin Lefebvre) "draws on film and cultural theories to consider paratextual Annes in terms of authorial ownership, control, and narrative pleasure"
'Mediating Anne' (Richard Cavell) (afterword) "closes off the book by providing a jumping-off point, looking forward to future research exploring the global Anne."
hi hi hi! I just discovered this book from 2010, which is a collection of essays on Anne of Green Gables, and I thought I might go through each essay and share my thoughts on the pieces! If anyone else has this book or access to any of the essays (some of which I think you can find online) I would love to discuss them with you! xoxo lily
