what are you hoping for in ninth house 3? hopefully we get it in 2026 :(
i swear i have leigh bardugo's instagram notifications turned on for when that announcement inevitably comes, fingers crossed it's next year!!
as for what i'm hoping for, oh man. buckle up, it's gonna be a long one.
turner's spidey sense coming in clutch bcuz it just sounded too much like magic to me at times
dawes finally finishing her thesis (i think it was on tarot cards)?? i want to know more abt the topic and it feels like such a chekov's gun to include it at all so i hope it will somehow become relevant in its own way, even if not in a major one
on a similar note, i want darlington's thesis project too!! his magical map of new haven, which michelle/the dean thought was a stupid idea except it's actually genius. idk if it could help hunting the demons or if he even has the capability of finishing it now that he's not himself anymore but idc. i want it. and while we're on the note of darlington - everything about him. new haven lore nerding, witty remarks, losing control, swearing (preferably in a love confession mhm iktr). i wouldn't be mad if he's somehow "cured" from being a demon but i think it would be much cooler if we get to watch him come to terms with it instead, learn to accept himself and adjust to what he is now instead of fighting it (something we got a hint for at the end of hell bent)
darlingstern. and the crowd cheered! everything about them. they don't feel like a lovey dovey/romantic couple but i wish they could sit down and talk about everything they know abt each other that they never meant to learn, abt carrying parts of each other now. i want angst, tension, intimacy, implicit trust, and whatever the hell kind of crack bardugo put in their twisted power dynamic in hell bent. i want them fighting demons alongside one another in the most badass way possible.
alex has been coming into her own ever since darlington went to spain (the s is silent) but i can't wait for her to find out what she really is and learn the extent of her power and use it to wreak absolute havoc among the demons (and maybe the societies?). i won't forget her promise for revenge to reiter at the end of hell bent. i also kinda hope we get something abt her father's side of the family
tripp. just tripp. silly goofy guy, now demon, what's up with that?
the societies need to be brought to their knees, like are we kidding? they're all incredibly corrupt, including lethe, the one who's supposed to be keeping them all in check - something needs to change there big time and i have a feeling alex will be the catalyst for it by brute force and darlington with his ideas. we are the shepherds.
thanks for the question <3 feel free to let me know what you're hoping for!!

Just put on a couple of Dawes songs on my drive home and my soul is being examined out in the open all of a sudden. The feels are feeling and there's a music-induced pressure on my chest. Okay, just be phenomenal like that. No worries.

does anyone else remember [hell bent, ninth house sequel spoilers] when alex, tripp, turner and dawes make the first descent, and this particular description in turner's flashback comes up:
From the time he was a kid, Turner had an ear for trouble coming. He could spot an undercover without even trying, always knew when a black-and-white was about to round a corner. His friends thought it was spooky, but his father told him it just meant he was a natural detective. Turner liked that thought. He wasn’t particularly good at sports or art or school, but he did have a sense for people and what they might do. He knew when someone was sick, like he could smell it on them. He knew when someone was lying even if he wasn’t sure how he knew. He’d just get that prickle at the back of his skull that told him to pay attention. He learned to listen to that feeling, and that if he kept smiling, kept the dark part of his heart hidden, people really liked talking to him. He could get his mom or his brother or his friends or even his teachers to tell him a little more than they’d set out to tell.
because i remember thinking there's no way this whole description is a random choice or a coincidence (considering the rest of the foreshadowing and chekov's guns in these books) and that turner's just got a very good "gut feeling", like i immediately thought this has to be magic in some way, just like in alex's case when it comes to seeing the grays/being a wheelwalker
i think turner doesn't know it's magic, but lethe does (which, when you think about it, must be precisely why he's centurion - despite him being very vocal about not wanting anything to do with lethe or the rest of the societies). my theory is he was essentially "recruited" just like alex, whom we know lethe was keeping tabs on because of her abilities, and darlington, whom we don't but sandow got him in the loop as soon as lethe found out he attempted to brew hiram's bullet to see the grays
what do y'all think, am i reaching or reading too much into it? does he just have good intuition cuz i think that can't simply be all there is to it

"I grew up a Randy Newman addict—it’s some of the most formative music of my life," Dawes drummer Griffin Goldsmith tells the Los Angeles Times. Goldsmith, who lost his home in the Eaton fire, and his brother/bandmate Taylor, who lost his home studio and 20 years of musical gear, led a one-time supergroup in opening Sunday's GRAMMY Awards ceremony—which raised funds for LA wildfire relief efforts—performing Newman's "I Love L.A." The Goldsmiths and Newman tell the Times how it came to be.
Dawes has released a single of "I Love L.A." with proceeds going to MusiCares in support of those affected by the L.A. fires. You can hear it here.

Stills, Nash & Dawes Play “Teach Your Children” at FireAid
- “We’ll cherish this forever,” Dawes says
It was a little rough, but Dawes will never forget “stepping into shoes impossible to fill” at the FireAid concert in Los Angeles.
The Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith-fronted band backed Stephen Stills and Graham Nash as the pair performed “Teach Your Children” during the Jan. 30 benefit show. The late David Crosby was obviously unavailable and Neil Young didn’t show for Stills and Nash’s first collaboration in a decade, though he recently played with Stills.
A little under-rehearsed and suffering from Dawes’ failed attempt to add high harmony with shrill falsetto, “Children” was nevertheless a heartwarming moment for musical and human reasons as Nash implored the audience to: “Take care of yourselves. Take care of one another.”
Dawes were simply gobsmacked, writing on social media: “15-year-old Taylor and Griff would have never believed this was possible. … We’ll cherish this forever.”
