Ghouls night out
[First] Prev <–-> Next
#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#wei wuxian#lan wangji#Scopophobia#Don't be mean Lan Wangji - the dead girl aesthetic is a curated one. Support women's rights to look dead!#I have been waiting for this scene for ages...the ghost girl entourage is such a good look for WWX.#And by gods does the audio drama actually do something interesting with one of them.#Namely that we actually get to see WWX talk with them and learn about who they were and what they left behind.#I love necromancer characters but it's way too common for them to be like “Go! Ghost no.145!” like they're a pokemon#and not...you know...someone who had a whole life that they left behind.#I love me a necromancer who has an awareness to whose soul/body they are using. It adds a lot of flavour!#MDZS is a little hit or miss with this. I think the fans do a lot of the work with making Mo Xuanyu a bigger character.#Yi City has this in spades. Even though we don't individually get character backstories#We get many painful reminders about how these 'corpses' were people.#We also get a few lines about how WWX used whatever corpses he could get his hands on (including grandparents - Woof!)#MDZS often (but not always) likes to remind us that every sacrifice and every ghost was a person.#It is so close to nailing the landing regarding the deconstruction of the necromancer character.#Anyhow. You may have noticed the uptick in quality in the last two comics. Rule of three means next one is going to be a treat B*)#See you all very soon!

i really love the scenes where tyrion is called upon to join other men in doing violence (such as the battle of the blackwater or the attack by mountain clans on the way to the eyrie). he always seems sort of shaken and sort of proud of himself in a very realistic way: killing another human being is inherently frightening and disgusting, but at the same time, tyrion has been treated as physically helpless (and specifically as less than a man) his whole life, and he is filled with anger he normally has no safe way to express. these brief tastes of what it would be like to be treated as a fellow warrior by other men... of course this is tantalizing to him. of course some part of him relishes it. in these moments, other men are willing to interact with him as a fellow group member. and he thinks: is this how jaime feels all the time? because for a westerosi lord, this is what it means to be a man.
and it's understandable but also profoundly sad. like... congratulations on your tenuous, conditional membership in the world's worst boys club.

How about the early concept for tfe s3 that Prowl would have been an antagonist of sorts? Him basically representing the "dark Autobot side" that had been hinted on in the narrative.
Imagine the implications. The possibilities are ENDLESS.
That would be lovely actually yes~
Although the writers would need to make Prowl smarter in order for that to be possible. The Prowl we have in the show right now wouldn't be able to pull any kind of shady dark schemes haha.
But the concept is very delicious. Especially because every other Autobot in the show was squeaky clean so far. Decepticons were having aaaalll shades of complicated morals in them and all the Bots were just. The good guys. All of them. Perfectly good. Perfectly innocent. Every evil they ever did was forced on them by someone. Such pure hearts.
All I'm saying is. Either it's just a kids show logic. Or they are REALLY good at hiding their crimes. And considering that crimes are the necessary part of any war? Ahahaha yeah. I can easily craft an au here
And I would need juuuust a few tweaks with the scenario to make Prowl SHADY AS FUCK while also keeping his personality mostly intact.
(I'm mainly talking about the scene where Megatron demanded him to apologize for "what he did". If we remove the part where Prowl says that "what he did" was capturing Decepticons? And only leave him smirking and saying that his reputation receding him? Viola~ We have a shady Autobot second in command. And from now on you can't look at him being all goofy without thinking that there might be something else goin on)

Sky and Viktor's relationship is such a horror movie to me. You've got a man who was frustrated by the limitations placed on his life that were out of his control, like his class, mobility, and general health. Despite everything, he manages to rise beyond his station and avoid being an assistant for the rest of his life.
Then you've got a woman from the same background who admires him and all that he's accomplished in spite of the similar class based prejudices they faced all the while she's his assistant. She works up the courage to take leap of faith and reach out to him with her own research to show what's possible if they worked together as equals. And then he gets her killed!
Sky's death isn't the end of it because while it affects Viktor it is in no way meaningful to Sky's life or value as a person whatsoever. Even the pendant he wears in her memory is based on the design of her notebook, but that was just her notebook's cover, she probably bought it from a store and the design itself is probably mass produced. Why not use Sky's signature that was in her letter and in the notebook, the thing part if the notebook with real value?
Then Sky's brought back in s2 and she really only exists to be Viktor's assistant again, who he kills, again! But this time it's different because this time Viktor's making a conscious decision to look Sky in the eye and kill her... to prove he's changed.
In the middle of all this, in no way has Sky's death been mourned by her family or anyone else who could have known her. Jayce wasn't affected by the reveal, he didn't think it was important to tell Heimerdinger, or anyone who knew her. Nothing about her life, death, or disappearance has spurred any emotional reaction or even curiosity about what happened to her.
Sky's new life was also extremely isolated because she became further tied to him (in some ways you could say she was defined by him). Viktor never mentioned Sky to anyone in the material plane during his commune arc, so she only exists to him and she has no way to communicate with others, she's just there for Viktor's sake.
Then in the finale we learn this all a part of a big time loop where Viktor actively set the wheels in motion to have him and Jayce create hextech together, but if everything follows as is, that means Sky is violently killed in those timelines too. That means Viktor weighed the costs and decided over and over and over again that Sky was expendable enough to let her die for his plan to work eventually. How is that not murder at this point?
What's worse is that post-finale Sky's humanity is a point of dispute amongst the fandom, the VAs, and the writers themselves. Sky's the hexcore manipulating Viktor. No, Sky's a manifestion of Viktor's guilt. No, she's actually supposed to represent his humanity/conscious made physical. And in none of these arguments do they discuss Sky as a person, she's just an object meant to serve Viktor both in the narrative sense and literal sense as his assistant.
The most absolutely maddening part is that with Viktor's new bio on the League site, not only have most traces of Viktor had been scrubbed by Piltover's archive, but Sky's life has been completely wiped. Her death was implied to have been swept under the rug, and only described as the "loss of life" consequence from his Hexcore experiment.
Viktor was afraid of dying a senseless death (created by the conditions Piltover condemned his birth to) in obscurity and then he turned it into Sky's destiny.

I'm honestly so glad they introduced a new protagonist. Not just because Rook is a darling, but also because Inquisitor would have been a horrible choice for the story they wrote.

Considering every attempt at bringing Jason Todd back as a villain (Dixon’s AU attempt in ‘96, Loeb’s Hush attempt in ‘03, + Winick’s successful UTH attempt in ‘04-5) was predicated on retconning Jaybin into someone that he wasn’t, I actually don’t think you can remove Red Hood from the discussion of how DC write Jason as a child. You can prefer one over the other if you want, but Red Hood + all his problems only exist because DC needed to villainise Jason Todd somewhere along his character history to prove that Jaybin’s death was a net positive.
The second Robin receiving an embryonic Red Hood-ification in Cheer, Robin Lives + apparently Lemire’s Robin + Batman was the whole point of Jason coming back as a Bad Guy to begin with. And at a stroke, it returns us to Marv Wolfman + Dixon’s classist victim-blaming narrative. And to their intended goal — to blatantly overwrite Jason Todd’s actual character with stereotypes to preserve the Batman + Robin power fantasy.

hmmm. thinking about how veilguard seems to subscribe more to the more traditional "video game as personal power fulfillment fantasy of heroism" than any other dragon age game, except perhaps origins, though origins does it more artfully.

Sometimes I see batfam posts and I get unreasonably upset because I KNOW Duke Thomas is still a very underrated, unknown batfam member but some of you guys would love him so much if you would just give him a chance

If I were to write my own original superhero comic, I would use the 2:1 (and sometimes even worse) gender ratio but in reverse so that for every one male character, there’s two female characters. as reparations for all the male-majority superhero casts. There’s not even gonna be an explanation for it, they don’t have a matriarchy, it’s set in the modern U.S. My female-majority cast requires no explanation because no male-majority cast is asked if there’s an explanation behind them
#tho ofc i’d have my lovely genderqueer characters#yk how every cast has like. The Women character. i’m gonna have my main cast of protagonists be all women except for The Man character.#i’m thinking he’s gonna be the most fuckin normal guy ever like i’m talking steve trevor from dcshg levels of white bread bland#but all the female characters call him one of the girls#simu's two cents#altho honestly if i did want to be a little ‘deconstruction of the superhero genre’ about it as is the trend for the past decade or so#i could have a wonder woman pastiche where it’s a superhero who has come from a beatiful feminist utopia when she was a chuld#and she has no way and no idea how to go back so she spends all her time in the story in modern US trying to represent the ideals of he#her magical feminist utopia. like. jesus christ style.#and everyone both in universe and the readers think that she’s like from an ancient magical world that inspired the mythology of the amazons#and so does she because she came to the modern US as a child and doesn’t even know how she got there like maybe she tbinks she was frozen in#ice captain murica style. and she was also a child when she came so she doesn’t remember a lot#but then it turns out that she’s not from the past she’s from the future#the twist is done planet of the apes style#the message is that yeah we can get to that feminist utopia we just have to fight for it and it may not come for a long time but even the#fight takes us closer and closer yada yada ✨ hopecore ✨ intersectional feminism ✨ u see the vision

How would the Fenton parents react to seeing a ghost that they knew?
I’m not talking them finding out Danny died or something, I’m talking about the fact that they definitely had lives before, and what one day they see you goes who looks exactly like their friend from when they were a child who got hit by a car? What if they see the ghost of their babysitter as a kid who lives next-door and died when they were at college? What if Maddi and Jack saw someone who they had left a long time ago as a ghost?
It would be even more angsty if the ghost was of a childhood friend who died, and maybe their obsession is with something that Jack or Maddie used to do with them?
I feel like that would be something extremely heartbreaking, but it would also work sort of chip away their view of ghosts. I always find a little odd is how their view of ghosts change on a dime for their kids. I love it, don’t get me wrong, but there should be more struggling with that, more emotional turmoil, and trying to reconfigure the facts.
IDK, I just feel like that would work towards series or something. I have a lot of thoughts on this now.
