This is the beginning of the end, and this time we have a drastic shift from the previous two redesigns with like... and actual redesign of Water Hazard/orishan/Bivalvan- hmm... let's just call this Bivalvan because I've drawn him before :P
First of all- so many eyes. Clam eyes are so (relatively) freaky y'all, truly the 'people with blue eyes: *staring into your soul*' type energy, so of the 10 visible eyes, Bivalvan has an eye ring, an iris and a pupil :)
And what do I mean by only ten visible eyes, there's a lot more blue on this design than 10. That's because those aren't eyes, that's the colour of his flesh and thus, for every hole in the armour is a valve (hah!) for water flow and thus, breathing! Things like the muscles in the claws and hood and the foot visible between Bivalvan's legs and waist are for mobility, the tendons mainly for closing joints and creating a water tight seal, the foot for movement of the limbs.
Speaking of limbs, you can clearly see how different Bivalvan's legs are :) really putting in the cockroach of my personal biases. An orishan's hands are just claws akin to the ones that rest on their waist that rest inside the claw. And those claws are in fact water cannons :P

I’ve made this post before but I can’t be bothered to find it. In what we commonly consider a ‘traditional’/patriarchal European society, the paths in life are: marriage with children (acceptable), bachelorhood (frowned upon, locked out of certain professions/roles), spinsterhood in servitude to parents (probably suffering), religious servitude. An unmarried person is a servant either of the local lord, the Lord, or the parents. The parental relationship has a built-in hierarchy of the senior parents and the underling child. All pressures push down and toward marriage as a form of (highly limited for women) freedom.
One of the few ways around this system is the sibling relationship. Sticking with a sibling can provide an avenue to independence from hierarchy via a peer relationship, a person who moves in with a married sibling is protected under the auspices of that marriage (though somewhat dependent on the sibling) and is not automatically subordinate as with aristocracy/religious orders/parents. I’m interested in the sibling relationship as a kind of lifeline or shield against the buffets of social expectation specially in a world where there is some kind of censure against unmarriage and in which marriage is seen as the final step in growing up. Siblings are the playmates of childhood, they are biological family, to remain part of s biological family unit is acceptable, to remain unmarried is not, the sibling is the last line of defense against a spouse without submitting to hierarchy and/or could be read as the last line of defense against growing up.
This isn’t coherent. I like the idea of two siblings choosing to remain close into adulthood not because they necessarily like each other that much, but because they understand the consequences of abandoning someone to social forces. Siblings as a kind of delayed maturation, a sign that something is wrong, a failed evolution, a vestigial relationship, you’re supposed to be close growing up and then split into different clans, but they have failed to do so and have closed the loop to return to childhood.

Still thinking about how Clover on the No Mercy Route likely would've given up their quest for vengeance and lived with Martlet had Axis not told them that he killed Integrity. The only real difference between Aborted No Mercy Run Clover and No Mercy Run Clover are a few more destroyed robots and the knowledge of what Axis did, which sent their LOVE skyrocketing to LV 19.
Look at them. They can't even look Ceroba in the eye after they inflict the final blow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
#undertale yellow#personally i see Clover's journey on the No Mercy Route as them feeling immense guilt and disgust with themself for killing monsters#but they HAVE to. it's self-defense. they're monsters. any one of them could have killed one of the other children. anything they can#tell themself to justify their own actions. but they can't lie to themself. not entirely. on some level they know what they're doing is#wrong and that's why they gradually lose their ability to recognize themself. and when they get to Axis that's when they're at their most#stressed. they just slaughtered dozens of monsters. they watched the monsters around them (like Angie and Gilbert and Dina) act like people#would under threat/treat them like they would a monster. they terrorized this robot throughout the Steamworks. maybe if they kill this one#they'll feel a sense of fulfillment/finality (they won't. deep inside they know they won't). and then Axis admits to having killed one of#the kids they're looking for and suddenly everything clicks into place. killing him feels like the easiest thing in the world. why were#they so caught up on remorse? just because they got distracted by a society more complex/civil than they thought it'd be? they're all#still kid-killers at the end of the day no matter how nice they all acted.#even then fighting against martlet they still have to deliberately dehumanize her by calling her ''the enemy'' in the first part and remind#themself of what they're fighting for/their freedom and home on the Surface in the second half. their SOUL blasts (which are a#manifestation of them/their will) barely do anything to her unlike Axis and Asgore who are brutally killed by one blast. i think Clover#genuinely liked her (a worthy opponent/they search her memories for a reason to hate her) and regretted killing her but they felt like they#had to. no loose ends.#take away the whole LOVE jump and finding out that Axis killed Integrity and what you have left is a kid who thought they knew what the#right thing to do was yet killed dozens for nothing. they're deeply remorseful and want a chance to better themself. one that Martlet would#offer bc she would see some good in them.#anyways. fat paragraphs in the tags once again#uty analysis#char: clover#yippee. you can see how badly i did in this fight with my remaining hp. jokes on you i beat her first try (this time around)

David Smith at The Guardian:
Donald Trump and his Republican allies are planning to target progressive groups they perceive as political enemies in a sign of deepening “authoritarianism”, a US watchdog has warned. The president-elect could potentially use the justice department and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to target non-profits and researchers, launch politically motivated investigations and pass legislation to restrict their activities. “Trump has made it clear that he plans to use his second term to attack the progressive ecosystem and his perceived enemies, Adrienne Watson of the Congressional Integrity Project (CIP) told the Guardian. “This is a worrying progression of Trump’s authoritarianism that would undermine our democracy.”
The CIP announced on Wednesday that it will aim to counter such abuses of power with a new initiative to defend progressive groups and individuals. The Civic Defense Project will be led by Watson, a former White House and Democratic National Committee spokesperson. Fears have been raised by the Trump second term agenda’s considerable overlap with Project 2025, a policy blueprint from the Heritage Foundation think tank that includes plans to attack non-profits, researchers and civil society groups that have challenged election denial narratives.
Activists say the threat extends beyond political investigations and includes leveraging government agencies such as the justice department and IRS to investigate, prosecute and shut down organisations that oppose the administration’s policies. Trump has nominated individuals with a record of targeting non-profits they disagree with to key positions, including Billy Long for IRS commissioner and Pam Bondi for attorney general. Kash Patel, Trump’s nominee for FBI director, has vowed to “come after” media outlets and non-profits that he claims “helped Joe Biden rig presidential elections”. Congressional Republicans have a history of targeting non-profits including charities, advocacy groups and universities, the CIP says. This includes recently seeking to investigate and restrict the activities of tax-exempt organisations supporting causes they oppose.
The Guardian reported that Donald Trump's regime in his 2nd term would plan to go after progressive watchdogs and nonprofits to put a stamp on his authoritarian rule. This reeks of Project 2025 bullpucky.

another thing with denying jaime agency is that a lot of his character is initially constructed around what his physical power means when it comes to choices that he makes. physical strength and combat prowess, violence, is a specific form of power that he has over others and can choose to extend to other parties. it is an integral aspect of every power dynamic, be it with his king, his sister, the rest of society etc. the knight is also an examination of power and responsibility. that is why their oaths are constructed around protecting the weak. it is what’s so interesting with the kingsguard too, especially aerys’s. they are the most skilled in combat and physically powerful people in the room. they had a form of power to act and prevent what aerys kept doing. and they are on a leash through oaths, law, order, obeying authority, and a status quo, a different kind of power that functions to give the man with a crown, in this case a tyrant, absolute power. you are sworn to obey, not to judge. you have to abide by your role. that is also what makes him eventually killing aerys and breaking these oaths so transgressive and threatening to the westerosi paradigm. his motivations and the circumstances aside, jaime in specific killing his king as a member of his elite guard undermined westerosi order and framed power as something that resided with the man with the sword and not with the man with the crown or even the lords with bannermen and armies who won the war that they started. it breaks these constructs apart with the precedent it sets. and on top of that, he gets away with it because of his status and relationship to tywin. the act itself is still something when it comes to westerosi order and class stratification, but it is also threatening in general because, yes, it does make him a loose cannon in the eyes of other people. and yeah he stagnates and falls into cynicism and begins to reject ethics and law in dangerous ways and ends up abusing that physical power and causes real harm to people who do not deserve it. he does embody a dangerous kind of anarchy that is the product of the flawed and dysfunctional social order that he experienced with a front row seat with the absurdly cruel tyrant that was systematically enabled. everything was reframed in his head. if there is no justice and order you can have faith in, who cares? he doesn’t fear death, and that is combined with the belief he can cut through anything now, he has the power to do so. be it a king, a lord, or virtually any power over him when it comes down to it. how much can a crown be worth…? he even argues to brienne that robert tearing the realm apart with his war is worse in a pragmatic sense. he rejects the existing laws, ethics, and moral constructs of his society that have a monopoly on violence because he is disillusioned with them, and he operates solely by his twisted reconstruction of morality (also obviously affected by his trauma) that atp primarily revolves around love for his family, especially cersei. he chooses to become the sword of his loved one, having lost faith in the purity of everything other than this delusional idealized relationship that is the only thing that is sacred that remains to him. and ofc all of this is another layer that makes george stripping him of this particular power through his maiming so functional in causing crisis

Starting season 7 of ER rewatch with dread in my heart.
This is actually great timing though because even though [Redacted] College has screwed me over royally, its fuckery has put me in a position to write one of my final college papers ever on Kerry Weaver's seasons 2-8 arc as a tragic backstory arc or Kerry overall as a genre atypical tragic figure.
Still.
I just want to protect her from the horrors. She needs a therapist and a friend and her mentor healthy again to tell her she's amazing and if anything her newly discovered queerness only enhances that. She needs literally one (1) person in her support system. She just needs someone to tell her she's going to be okay and that the one thing she has in her life (her job) is safe. But the whole basis of her tragic-ness is that the writers sabotage her every attempt to not be lonely. So...
#er tv series#er nbc#kerry weaver#look I understand people's tastes in characters vary#and we are all comrades in fandom#so if anyone has a bad word to say about my favorite girl come here and we can talk peacefully#ha ha april fool's (hands are full of knives)#seriously no matter what I'm hyperfixated on Kerry Weaver remains My Favorite and I am her defense attorney#and lord commander of her queen's guard#House followers: please just look into her--you will love her I promise#I hate so much how desperate she always is for community and she just can't get it#because no one is ever patient with her or gives her benefit of the doubt#when she's clearly trying#everyone always assume she's acting in bad faith#like even when she tries to integrate into The Queer Community TM the way she's told she should (at the bar and with Kim's friends)#she can't because she's too scared of rejection or her queerness is too new to her and she doesn't understand things#and instead of trying to teach her or boost her confidence she's rejected more--building a cycle (which is normal for the bar but bs w/ Kim#Anyway I love my favorite autistic lesbian doctor and so should everyone else#If anyone has read my Hilson Research series: SII's gf Kitty is based on my ER deus ex machina “friend for Kerry” OC of the same name#one day I will write a pitch for my House followers to check out Kerry#DM me or reblog if you are a House MD fan and are interested in that type of pitch--it will drastically hasten the process#(I will immediately do it)

How did you come up with Inokies bullet patterns?
Mix of a couple things, really.
First, Inako's bullet patterns generally originate more from Kanako, Naoki, or both equally. Kanako's side was pretty easy to figure out - cherry petals as a smaller version of Ceroba's cherry blossoms, and the mask because Kanako was the one to make the mask. Naoki's was, a lil bit harder, mainly because the only thing we see in-canon for Naoki's "attacks" are ballet shoes in the Flowey fight and I do not like drawing shoes, especially in a serious attack and especially when I'm supposed to make it look creepy. Naoki's attacks then tend to be more loop and spinning oriented, plus another contribution from them is that Inako can sometimes look almost like they're dancing when they're doing an attack.
I do have some other things I have planned for Naoki's attack patterns - and more mixed attack patterns from both Kanako and Naoki - but I have not drawn those comics yet so those will be secret :)
In addition though, they are amalgamates, so their attacks are meant to look a lil twisted and wrong. The mask is my absolute favorite attack for this, and the drippy sorta defensive loop, but the others are fun as well for this.
