Everyone is always talking about Pathologic in terms of cruelty and I think it's interesting that the game has to balance it. In both games, the placement of plague clouds is often cruel; in P1, walking all around Isidor's house to find his front door is cruel — obviously this is petty, but it contributes to the atmosphere. The P2 Abattoir is cruel, cutting off half your day and then sending you four letters as the Bachelor in P1 is cruel. However, of the letters you're sent, three are related and they're really just one, not-too-hard quest. The Abattoir is a combination of all the things you've learned over the time you've spent playing.

So, in reference to the devlog screenshot, it's doubly interesting that P3 hardly has to strike that balance. A lot of game design, for all games, comes down to "how hard do we make this on the player." The text here and in other promotional material frames it as "you can make errors" and Alphyna has implied in interviews that this game might be less "difficult" — in respects to P2's reputation and need for adjustable sliders. So, sure, it may be easier to save lives or get an ending you prefer. But "difficulty" isn't equatable to "cruelty." To me, it sounds like P3 has given IPL the chance to be as unabashedly cruel as they want. Because you can change it. You can change everything. You'll just have the embarassing/stressful memories of all the terrible shit you had to do along the way. Really fascinating from the perspective of game design. No need to have NPCs really heavily emphasizing that you're about to make a major decision — fuck around and find out.

Just a quick announcement--I've uploaded the revised version of Virtue's End to the original demo link, thereby replacing it, and have moved the original demo that was there to a new folder for safekeeping (for those of you who would still like to read/replay it).

I'm not sure if the move will cause any errors so I've kept the revised link up for now but if all goes well, I will be updating the game using the original link from now on.

My apologies for the delays OP, when I first started making Dedrie’s reference-sheet I had no idea which direction to take it into. It was my first time making one and that too with someone else’s oc 😅

. . . Not my most well thought out plan sksksks, but once I started I wanted to make her look absolutely perfect! The constant worrying led to artblock and then there were exams to worry about and constant software glitches which corrupted her save files . . . Oof this project got out of control very quickly and my clumsy approach was not helping but despite it all . . . She’s finally complete!! Not too shabby looking haha, I hope you like her design as much as I do!! Please do let me know what you think 🙇🏻‍♀️

First and foremost, thank you for your input. The fact that you took the time out of your day to notice the grammatical errors in some of the asks I've posted is enlightening. However, since Tumblr is a social media platform, I like to keep it more casual over here. It may be hard to believe given several of the instances you included, but I'm familiar with the grammar points. I do know what " this little fella ' " is. Om a different note, has your tumblr banner been changing? Every now and then I look at the picture of the amazingly filthy room, and I swear it got messier/dirtier the last time I looked at it

No, the image has not been changed since this blog was made (I mean the file on my computer, and so the image in the banner can't be different either).

BUT... this actually alludes to something and I will reward your question with a sneak peak. Because, you see, this picture is from my still-in-development slob game (it's fallen to the wayside over the holidays but I'm planning to start work again soon). And in that game, the room actually does in fact start out neat and becomes messier. The version shown is the end result.

I'm still working on the in-between stages though.

There are other rooms (lounge, bedroom, bathroom) but those I started from a clean room and am building up to a messy room, so they're relatively cleaner currently:
