You've gotta love the people you're fighting for more than you hate the people you're fighting against. You've gotta love immigrants more than you hate your xenophobic Uncle. Many countries are in an inflection point atm when it comes to oppression, mine included. And people show up in droves during these points. That's good, but a lot of people go into these things motivated by a specific politician that they dislike. Completely reasonable, I hate the leaders of my country too, but so many of these same people will clam up the minute the politician they hate is out of power. Suddenly, increasingly difficult and purposefully tedious immigration laws aren't a crisis. Suddenly, the support for mutual aid networks dries up. Suddenly, the same people who stood by my side to rage against my government's lack of equal opportunity laws protecting women from being fired for taking the maternity leave they are LEGALLY ENTITLED TO are fine with the status quo. Hatred is a strong motivator in the short term and being angry is part of the process. But nothing is as strong a motivator as a genuine sense of care for your fellow man.

It's not enough to fight against something, who are you fighting FOR? Who will you continue to care for when it isn't a crisis point? Who will you champion when the people you loathe have fallen silent? Who will you cherish when the monsters receive their comeuppance? Who do you love?

No, they're not. People saw the fact that Tommy was a man and a first responder and decided that the relationship was gonna be developed and Tommy was going to be relevant to the plot beyond being a love interest. There was the kiss then the date then a month long hiatus and people created the Tommy they expected to exist on the show, since apparently having a dick means you're compelling and developed and the best thing that ever happened to Buck, started a war backed by Lou and his cameos because he started headcanoning Tommy's backstory and bts relationship with them for the very small price of 150 USD a video and now they're in to deep to back out and admit they set the fandom on fire for a dude who's nothing beyond a device to Buck's bisexuality, so the are desperately hoping the show develops them. There's also the racism and the way Tommy created a blank slate and allowed people who don't like Eddie to go crazy because there was a new guy around, and they could transpose the good things about Eddie into a white guy.

Thinking 100 years post canon about widowed mithrun (from kabumisu) and marcille (farcille) meeting every other day or so just to check on each other (they understand each others grief too much)

Regardless of ships, i think mithrun and marcille can be good friends, once they pass their initial hiccup of attacking each other at the dungeon. That might take some time, since marcille is scared of mithrun and mithrun working on his desires, but the thing about them is that they all have the time in the world.

Sometimes I just start thinking about this moment - paired with Maddie's "I just think that maybe you're not sure of your own feelings yet. And if there's something that you need to tell Eddie, you will. Just, in your own time" - and then don't stop thinking about it.

Maybe I'm just reading into it but the way this moment moves. Eddie steps forward, Tommy steps up to exactly where Eddie was, Buck turns to look where Eddie was, doesn't find what he was looking for but still finds something good. It's not just ep 4 and 5 where the focus on Eddie blows me away, it's also this.

i love networking no you don't understand like i just love it when you make a surface-level connection with someone who has insight or information about something that really matters to you and when you can glean so much advice from listening to a person's stories and the lessons they've had to learn because like it's as if surface-level connection is the first step towards all relationships and if you like someone enough then you have the option to reach out again and pursue strengthening that connection because they just don't understand that meeting new people, even people you don't like, is an essential part of building the community we all so desperately desire and that's why networking is so hard and equally so, so incredibly important.

the American education system needing to be improved and more accessible because as it stands a lot of people lack access to adequate schooling and it has the potential to address really important subjects and provide social support for people

coexists with the idea that societally we should not be trying to pull every piece of information from the American education system because it is not equipped even remotely to address the knowledge that can come from a person's individual lived experience nor provide the information (en masse) that goes against the state that created it.

this is something i thinka bout a lot and try to re-articulate a lot because i am resistant to answering the question "why are you only studying abolition now, through a university?" but i think a lot of things can come out of that line of questioning. because it's not just about academia it's about the people forming those communities to have those dialogues and that is key that is critical. but that doesn't negate the fact that we should have school as a starting place, and a meeting place, for all of that.

It’s important to clarify your reasons for networking though, especially if ur not necessarily the most social in the first place. The goal isn’t to besties, but to put yourself out there authentically in the hopes to gain opportunities that can further your career.

young me especially would have hated hearing this but networking is literally the most important thing you can do to improve your situation like forget economic barriers to education etc just keep making friends with different people and eventually someone will offer you a hand up just because they dig your vibe and that is exactly all that's happening when undeserving people surpass you anyway
