QUESTIONS FOR MUN

1. Who has been your favorite muse to play?

ughhhh this is hard...im gonna cheat and go for nostalgia ok

although i think i missed the mark with her muse in some places i have a special fondness for dahlia hawthorne and her specific brand of caustic sarcasm.

i don't think i've ever come up with so many different creative insults during her runtime...also she had the neatest mix of relationships with random muses, not just in AA cast (tho i remember her tormenting at least 3 different feenies??) but beyond, notably izaya and edward cullen comes to mind.

i also really liked my run as kasen kanesada because he's a very lyrical sword (or at least works hard to cultivate that image) so i had to express that in writing and ended up having a lot of fun doing flowery replies and making up poetry and generally going big ham. (it did take a lot of mental energy though so i started losing steam later on.)

i remember he had a thread with FGO Shakespeare that was pretty nice cause we got to be nerdy and talk about eastern/western literature lolololol, then for his challenge he had to kill like 5 ppl in 24 hours so i actually got 5 volunteers to get decapitated and RP'd mini threads with them all, which was wild (and again a very, very random mix of muses including X-Files Fox Mulder)

i didn't RP OCs back then but i like them a lot now too! the lack of art is an unfortunate reality but the amount of customization you get in exchange...so powerful.

5. What is the most difficult thing about writing your current muse?

stupid guy won't just kiss klaus and marry him that would solve 99% of their problems hey klaus are u listening u need to seduce this idiot or something so his brain has nothing but u all day to keep him out of mischief hey hey klaus

also his unspoken obligation to be lawful good (in his POV) really limits his ability to "act out," so sometimes i need to find different ways to de-escalate situations before he hits moral event horizon. you know, flattery and adoration goes a long way in wrapping him around your finger, i'm surprised more people don't try (i guess they can't stand him long enough to get there lol)

7. Who was the very first muse you ever wrote?

i remember answering this question on another meme maybe...?

there's a more accurate answer now: pre-tumblr, i remember RPing a Lopmon on some digimon forum once upon a time. also remember the mod that was RPing with me called me out for "slight godmodding" because i was describing how my digimon was crossing a bridge and apparently that was taking things too much into my own hands LOLOL

8. Have you ever written a novel? If not, does it interest you?

i've started written novels but i haven't finished any except for like, a couple of original oneshots. technically Veoc is a supporting character/love interest (spoilers: he's not the canon pairing) in a sci-fi story where i have the general plot laid out but y'know, actually writing it is... *flops down*

9. Do you write fanfiction, or have you in the past?

i definitely wrote more in the past but i've slowed down to a trickle since then. uhhhh i want to start up again, maybe with drabbles/oneshots, but i need to catch up on canon first before i try to do the characters justice

10. Do you like stylized icons and formatted text or do you prefer to keep things simple?

god a part of me regrets giving Aury his fancy brackets b/c i have to copy/paste that thing in every reply

i can't remember...gotta be probably early to mid high school cause i didn't know RP existed back then

forums, emails, tried a LJ group but my app got rejected so i didn't even get in (ROFL), tumblr has been the most stable medium with most long-term interactions though

ghost game episode 9 thoughts aka i tried to do the post on main as usual but ended up breaking the tag limit so you have to deal with me now

LONG long long post under the cut

so i didn't dislike this episode but i probably wouldve enjoyed it more if i hadn't spent most of last week theorising and losing my shit and getting WAY too overexcited about things that probably weren't going to happen and, to nobody's surprise, didn't. in retrospect i shouldnt have expected an all out reveal of what is presumably the big bad literally nine episodes in so looking back a day after watching it, i'm just pretty stoked gulusgammamon actually got acknowledged at all. i hope they continue to actually question that/hiro worries about it, because your partner turning into a big violent cloud and slapping the shit out of a guy so hard you launch him into next week (or several years, actually) is Kind Of A Big Deal that you probably shouldnt ignore

i also kinda wanted to see wezengammamon because it's my favourite of the three non-fucked-up-and-evil evolutions but thats literally just me i think and i would still like the other two partners to evolve first they deserve it. do i think they will evolve first? debatable but i have theories

i was kinda. unsatisfied by the resolution from a "ive been watching this series since october and nobody's been given a proper digimon-style beating yet" standpoint but also if i think about it from a character point of view it makes slightly more sense. like these are kids. hiro especially does not strike me as the kind of kid to sit there and watch someone fucking die in front of him even if they were trying to kill him a few seconds earlier. i think the CPR thing was a bit dumb but i can at least understand why they would have wanted to help clockmon, and at least by now the general approach to digimon has been long-established as "talk them down and if that doesn't work just knock a little sense into them until it does"

on the other hand, clockmon immediately going to "ok nvm i guess i can't hurt anyone anymore now youve been nice to me :(" was a lot less understandable and i won't get into it because i'll be here for hours if i do but you could at least give him a little moral crisis onscreen come on

i am glad we got the loredrop from bokomon this episode actually! while it felt a little clunky and out of place in its execution, i've actually spent a considerable amount of time these past weeks wondering and theorising what the pattern is behind some digimon being able to touch things and appear and others not, and it's pretty cool to learn definitively what's up with that. maybe that's just me i love comparing the little worldbuilding details in digimon but i'm glad it was explained and not just brushed over as "thing that happens" for the entire series

i still can't believe they just ditched hiro to go get ice cream. they took his fucking digimon partner to get ice cream without him and just left him there hE KEEPS JUMPING AROUND IN TIME GUYS. GUYS THATS A TERRIBLE IDEA WHY WOULD Y i know there needed to be some reason for clockmon to be able to catch him alone but the whole thing is equal measures of sad and hilarious to me lIKE OF ALL PEOPLE ON THIS ONE PARTICULAR DAY HE SHOULD PROBABLY NOT BE LEFT UNATTENDED AND YET,

overall i did kinda feel bad for hiro this episode. this whole time he's really seemed to have his shit together so actually watching him get the short end of the stick in a digimon scenario was fucked up but fun. and then he had to watch some kind of Murderbeast come out of his little buddy and vibe check someone nearly into oblivion like it was nothing? i think he needs to take a nap that's gotta take its toll on a guy

as for next episode predictions i know ive been saying it for the past four episodes but i really think angoramon could evolve this time. from the .5 seconds of footage of symbareangoramon we actually have, i don't think he'd be especially out of place in a fighting game setting. i've been proven wrong Multiple times before so i don't want to say it's definite, but like- put it this way. in the episode where flying was a useful skill to beat the enemy we got kausgammamon. so in the episode where physically beating the shit out of things is (presumably) a useful skill to beat the enemy we could get symbareangoramon. angoramon's moveset in general is pretty centered around Hitting Things Hard like i think it could happen

another point to this theory is that the angoramon/jellymon dim cards for the vital bracelet are being released this month, but the champion forms on the cards are still hidden in promotional material. i think they're going to show symbareangoramon and/or teslajellymon in the anime before they release the cards, which is a pretty strong point for them showing up in the next few episodes. it's the most credible prediction i have tbh

Milus: Oh, when I evolve I get oppose-able thumbs. Great for playing playing video games :3

Zarrus: I was buddies with some other aquatic 'mons back in the digital world. We'd beat up bullies and break stuff for fun! :D

Zarrus: I dunno if I count as an early type but when it gets dark out usually that’s a sign to get some sleep. So again, because these questions are so dumb I can't answer 'em right :/

Milus: I think it's a ranking system humans use, but I have no idea what it's for. Not evolving though, at least that much I can say.

Natticus: I hate to agree with Zarrus, but yea, I like the ocean more too; lakes can be nice but they can also be muddy and shallow. The underwater plants and weeds don't help when you're swimming either.

Howdy! I just wanna say, i discovered this blog via reverse google image search on a Great Gabumon text post, and it was one of the reason why I finally made a tumblr account. I was living with my best friends for the first time that year; and when I'd sent a bunch to them in our groupchat, when they got home from a movie we ended up scrolling for Forever, crying laughing at how some of the memes from them applied to people we knew. Afterwards we binged Digimon again for the first time in years. Whenever I see a post from yall, it brings me back to great memories with some of my favorite people. Thank you 😊

Q: What is Digiweek? A: Digiweek is a general Digimon tumblr event which is not bound to a specific universe or pairing. We want to give space to those who love a certain universe of a Digimon (be it anime, video game, or comic) but does not have a specific event due to the small fanbase. Or for those who have a favourite pair but cannot hold an OTP week due to the lack of participants. Or for those with ot3/ot4/etc. Or those who don’t even ship but just wanna have some fun.

Q: Ah, I see. This is just another Adventure-centric event, right? A: No, we’re not Toei. This event is open for any Digimon universe. While we understand that Adventure has a big fanbase and there may be a lot of content about them, we also want to see more variations and that’s why we hope the fans from non-Adventure universe can participate with contents related to them.

Q: I want to write about Tamers and Cyber Sleuth on the first day then. Can I do it? A: Mate, you can write about them every single day of the week and we won’t even complain. We love you. Keep it going.

Q: I’m not a writer nor a digital artist. Can I still participate? A: Yes!

Q: What kind of content I can submit then? A: We accept any type of content possible. Fiction, edits/graphics, gifs, fanart/drawing, fanvideo, moodboard, metas, headcanons, fanmix/playlist, cosplay, meme, even recipes (anyone wants to share Guilmon’s bread recipe?) as long as they’re in line with the prompt.

Q: I’m not great at fiction. Can I write metas instead? A: Yes! Even when you don’t feel like writing a wall of text, there are sub-prompts in the form of questions which you can just answer shortly and concisely. 

Q: So what’s this prompt and sub-prompt thing? A: While there will be no limitation on universe and characters/pairs, there will be prompts to spark some ideas. Each day will have a main prompt, which is abstract in nature and can be interpreted in many ways as you like it. In addition to that, for those of you in need of more specific guidance, we will also provide optional sub-prompts each day in the form of questions which you can answer. Participants may opt to answer one (or all) questions, or even make new questions as long as they are still in line with the main prompt that day.

Q: Does this mean I cannot submit contents that include romantic shipping? A: Yes, you can! After all, what is the world without some love?

Q: Okay, but I can still submit content without any kind of shipping, right? A: Yes, you can too!

Q: I have an OC in the Digimon-verse. Can I write about it? A: Yes! That’s why on our sub-prompts you will see us writing a lot of “(favourite) characters” because it doesn’t have to be about our favourite characters. It can be about YOUR own characters.

𝕯𝖊𝖆𝖗 𝕿𝖚𝖒𝖇𝖑𝖗,

No, this is not a late April Fools gag, I promise! (I've already done one of those!) Earlier this week, I mentioned I wanted to try something new, branching out from my typical posts about Ghost Game episodes and news. I'm a pretty avid gamer, spending most of my spare time, when I'm not watching Digimon or writing posts about it, playing games on my PlayStation 4. (I would have upgraded to PlayStation 5 by now, but online scalpers have made that awfully difficult.) As such, I thought doing some game reviews from time to time would be a good way to add some variety to my blog and mix things up occasionally.

I'm sure if you've spent any time on the internet in the past few years, you've likely seen one of these little armless astronauts looming in your social media news feed. It's been pretty hard to escape the memes surrounding this game, and as such, it didn't take long for me to start getting annoyed at them and grow to hate the game before I had even played it. I never really gave it a chance, passing on the game during the peak of its popularity in late 2020, despite the fact it was free on mobile devices. However, while skimming through the PlayStation Store's catalogue of games the other day, I stumbled upon Among Us there. I was pretty shocked to see it on PlayStation 4, and with its cheap price tag of $4.99, I figured I'd take a gamble and give Among Us a go to see what all the hype and meme culture a few years prior came from.

Among Us is a game in a rather niche genre known as social deduction. In social deduction games, players are assigned hidden roles which usually correlate to two teams based on demeanor, "good" and "evil". Players utilize clues they discover to try and uncover everyone's hidden roles and weed out the "evil" players from the "good". In Among Us, the "good" players, or Crewmates as they're called, work together to complete simple tasks in the form of minigames. These tasks are scattered around various rooms in each level, and the Crewmates must complete all of their tasks in the level to achieve one of a few possible win states. The "evil" players, known as the Impostors, must stop the Crewmates from achieving this task to trigger their win state. They do this by killing Crewmates, one by one, until the Impostors outnumber the crewmates.

It sounds a lot like titles such as Dead By Daylight or Friday The 13th: The Game, but what sets Among Us apart from other asymmetrical multiplayer games are the discussions and debates held between players. If a Crewmate finds the dead body of a fellow Crewmate, they can report it to force a meeting between all players. Crewmates can also force a meeting at any time with the Emergency Meeting button located in the center of the level. During meetings, Crewmates (through a text chat window) will discuss anything suspicious or damning they witnessed while going about completing their tasks, while Impostors have to be on their toes and use their wits to appear innocent to the Crewmates. After the discussion timer expires, a voting timer begins where players must cast votes on who to toss out of the level to their doom. It's pure democracy, so the majority vote is what determines the outcome. Making good decisions and asking tough questions in meetings can lead to another win state; voting off all Impostors or voting off enough Crewmates.

Among Us is a game with a simple gameplay loop and premise that uses social interactions between players to make no two matches feel the same. I think this the biggest factor in why I enjoy it so much, every game of Among Us I've played has played out drastically different from the last, and I've had many hilarious stories unfold during the time I've spent with the game thus far. It's easy to see now why it exploded in popularity in 2020, giving people a place to have social interaction with others in a time where that was scarce. The entertainment value skyrockets for this game if you have some friends to play it with, as you can get together on apps like Discord and Skype, or host PlayStation Party Chat rooms, to do voice chat discussions during meetings. Talking instead of typing your responses out really amplifies the fun, and perfoming stealth kills on your friends as the Imposter is maniacally entertaining, especially if you get away with it! It also helps that there's four different levels to play on and a really nice progression system that was added to the game a while ago.

One common complaint of Among Us for a long time was the lack of anything to work towards or do outside of matches. An update released for the game a few months back that added in a level progression system. Each match rewards you with XP, and you get a different amount depending on the game length and your performance in the match. Also included with the update was a bunch of new cosmetics to dress your Crewmate up with, unlockable with an in-game currency called Beans, and Cosmicubes, Among Us' take on the popular Battle Pass model found in other popular free-to-play games. Cosmicubes have their own currencies seperate from Beans, and you make one your primary Cosmicube in order to earn currency for it after each match. Cosmicube currency can be spent on cosmetics inside its respective Cosmicube, which will unlock them for your Crewmate to wear. Certain Cosmicubes or cosmetic bundles can be bought in the Shop with Stars, a premium currency purchasable with real money. While I'm not normally a fan of this sort of "grindy" game design, implemented in most games to keep players busy and encourage microtransaction sales, Among Us does a lot of things right that make it more palatable than its contemporaries.

Most cosmetic bundles on the shop range from a measly $2-$3 of real money, an amount which won't even get you a cheap emote or cosmetic on Fortnite or other free-to-play games. Cosmicubes go for about $9, comparable to a Fortnite Battle Pass. However, unlike those, Cosmicubes have no expiration date and won't ever be taken away from you. You have as much time as you want to complete them, and it takes far less time to do so compared to a Fortnite Battle Pass. For example, the Polus Cosmicube (which costs 3,000 Beans to unlock) is one I've been working on for about 4 days so far. I've recently completed it, unlocking all of its cosmetics. Fortnite designs its seasons to push players right up to the final days in order to complete their Battle Passes, a huge three month commitment to get what you paid for to unlock. When time starts running out, many players are pressured to resort to buying time skips in order to receive all content they bought access to from the Battle Pass. These skips are purposefully expensive, making Epic Games (Fortnite's developer and publisher) a lot of money off of FOMO. (The fear of missing out) With Among Us though, the pressure is off. The game prioritizes having fun over milking the player's wallet, and I really appreciate that in any game these days.

Even though I really enjoy Among Us in terms of its gameplay and progression system, I have a few gripes with it that I think should be addressed, in particular with the PlayStation 4/5 port. These gripes don't reflect Innersloth's efforts (the developer of Among Us), but those of PlayEveryWare, the developers of this port. I understand that Unity isn't exactly the most stable or optimized game engine out there, but it is arguably the most flexible. Unity powers Among Us, and it likely made porting the game to other platforms a breeze for PlayEveryWare. I think more could have been done in terms of polish with the PlayStation port, however.

One major annoyance is how clunky navigating menus is. I understand that Among Us was designed with touch screens in mind, and I appreciate the effort of mapping touch screen icons to PlayStation buttons to make the game feel more natural on a controller, but menu navigation is a mess. I've gotten stuck on certain screens and menus before, unable to navigate through them or even select certain options. Sometimes the menus broke so badly I had to close the game and restart it. I've even had the PlayStation on-screen keyboard fail to appear in the middle of meetings, rendering me unable to communicate efficiently with my fellow players until I restarted the game. Also, the quick chat system you can do with a controller is a mess, free chat with a USB keyboard is highly recommended if you aren't in a voice chat group playing with friends.

In addition to this, an even more egregious issue with the PlayStation version is the frequent crashes. I've had Among Us crash my PS4 back to the home screen around eight or nine times in the few days I've played it so far. The first few crashes were especially bad as they corrupted my game save. The thing that stopped me from requesting a refund for this game was the fact that I had made an Among Us account prior to all of this happening, so nothing was lost. If you don't make one when you first start playing like I did, you're risking losing everything you've unlocked and purchased if the game crashes. If you decide to play Among Us on PlayStation, make absolutely sure you're logged in to your Among Us account before you play. I also advise backing up your save data to your PlayStation Plus cloud storage regularly, (I do so after every play session just to be safe), as save corruption will reset your gameplay stats list (viewable in the main menu) to zero. If you don't care much about that though, save corruption won't effect you significantly, so long as you have an Among Us account.

Lastly, while Sony does allow crossplay between other platforms with Among Us, a huge downside of the PlayStation version is that Sony has blocked account linking to other platforms. This is unfortunately not out of character for Sony, who have been extremely stingy on cross platform features for many years leading up to now. However, in this day and age, especially with crossplay titles like Fortnite (on their own platform no less) that feature full crossplay support, it makes you wonder why they still block certain games from some of these features. If you play Among Us on another platform, such as mobile or PC, you can connect your account to the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One/Series ports for cross platform progression. All of your Cosmicubes, Beans, Cosmicube currency, cosmetics, your Crewmate's outfit and your friend code will appear on the versions of the game you've linked your account to, allowing you to play Among Us anywhere and take your progression and unlocks with you. Thanks to Sony, this will never be a feature PlayStation gamers have access to for this title, meaning your progression is locked to PlayStation 4 and 5 and can't be taken anywhere else.

Despite the gripes I have with this port job from PlayEveryWare, backing up your save regularly and getting your account made/logged into before you start playing are all you need to do in order to solve most of these issues. Clunky menus are still a problem, but those always seem to correct themselves after restarting the game in my experience, so if they get too crazy, a simple restart will suffice. If you don't mind playing Among Us on your PlayStation exclusively, like me, account linking isn't that important either. Also, if you're a Rachet & Clank fan, you might get a kick out of the PlayStation exclusive Rachet hat and skin, as well as the Clank pet. Overall, Among Us on PlayStation 4/5 is unpolished and scaled back in terms of features, even compared to other console ports, but it's still a lot of fun. Given its cheap price, even if you're on the fence about trying the game, I'd say it's worth giving it a shot. If you have some friends to play with, you're in for a real treat, but even if you play with random players online, it's still a blast to play (provided you have a USB keyboard handy). If you have another platform to play the game on though, that will likely be the better place to play Among Us. It's a simple game to learn and understand, with a lot of depth and mind games to play once you learn the ropes. No two matches are the same either, thanks to its unique focus on robust social interaction between players. It's a good time all around, no matter what you play it on!
