some sifs I drew from memory into my sketchpad while I was at a family meetup... i thought it'd be fun to digitalize the more original style ones with a pixel brush and the ones that were more my own artstyle with my usual brush (initial pencil sketch under the cut)

unironically, any notable change you see between the traditional sketch and the digital version only stems from the fact that i had no space on the real paper e.g. the sketches being repositioned or sif's hat not being curled downwards everywhere was because i could actually use the space better digitally lmao

I finished Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 yesterday, and it is absolutely incredible. 10/10 game, they really stuck the landing. Writing is incredibly good, thematic cohesion made me stare in the mirror in a daze afterward, music is so beautiful it haunts me and I can't stop listening to it, there were moments in the game where I literally paused or stuttered to a stop because I couldn't believe how moving and exquisite just the combination between the visuals and the music/sound was, just the pure experience of walking in some of those places was as moving as Journey (game) or Shadow of the Colossus to me, especially the Sirene area.

Surreal, lush beauty. Pure art.

I found out afterward that the lead writer was a woman, which kind of explained to me how effortlessly the game presented so many women characters with so many different personalities, who struggle differently with unique thoughts. I love the characters very much.

As a game, playing it felt like the same feeling as playing an old 3D turn-based Final Fantasy game for the first time again. Anyway, they weren't wrong about it, and it's very good.

a funny/sad thing about people who go on tirades about how penny pokemon sv is an awful selfish violent criminal who should be arrested instead of being reached out to and helped, and how they feel insane that anyone likes her is... she absolutely already feels that way about herself and they didn't notice

she spends the whole game doing what she can to protect her friends from being blamed for anything, calling herself a massive idiot under the guise of being someone else, turning herself in voluntarily, wanting to be given more punishment. it weirds her out that her friends and the school directors and chairwoman keep showing her mercy and seeing the good in her and what she was trying to do instead of throwing her in the trash she thinks she belongs in

When Jyn Erso was eight years old, her mother died and her father left to become a gamemaker for the Hunger Games. Adopted by Saw Gerrera, her mother's friend, she became Jyn Gerrera and was forbidden from ever revealing her true identity to anyone. Ten years later, it's Jyn's last reaping. Saw, the forgotten victor of the 32nd Hunger Games, had rejected every reward the Empire offered him, preferring to live as a recluse at the edge of the forest in District 12, as opposed to the luxury in the Victors' Village. It's been decades since anyone in the district even recalled that Saw was once a victor himself, but he had made sure to teach Jyn all he knew of self-defense and combat training.
