It's so hard to ditch the ring binder. It offers me such flexibility and limitless possibilities for customization.

DIY weekly and journal pages.

Lo and behold, I’ve created a silly little notebook made of tracing paper pages and leftover plastic sheeting for the covers, bound together with blue French linking and kettle stitches and weaver’s knots, beads, and strips of pretty green fabric! It was an exercise of exhilaration and chaos, and now here’s my motley little chaos-book!

I made a notebook for my hubby

I accidentally ordered the wrong type of book cloth (coated instead of uncoated) so I’ve been wracking my brain trying to come up with a project to use up this massive amount of material. And the more I work with it the more I actually like it. The fact that the cloth is coated also means I got to use up some of the endpapers I’ve made for another project and some vinyl scraps I’ve had lying around.

My hubby has hinted at wanting a notebook bound by me, but he hasn’t asked me outright so I thought this might be a lovely surprise. I get to practice my binding (this one was bound with a French link stitch btw) and my hubby gets a nice notebook.

The pages are dotted, I’ve added his name, and I thought it would be fun to add "if lost return to his wife". Though I seriously doubt he’s going to lose this notebook. I’ve also added a poem that means a lot to both of us.

This is the notebook I've been writing the zero drafts of my stories for 1/2 days now. But the cover was ugly so i sacrificed half a page of my sketchbook and now one of my old drawings is my cover 😊
