this is a niche hot take but I am here to advocate for the return of thinner paper in notebooks. I HATE the 160+ gsm paper that's become so popular because of bullet journaling youtube. yes the covers are pretty but the paper is atrocious to write on.

also, good quality 80 gsm paper does that fun 'flip flip flip' thing, you can turn the pages so quickly and it makes such a satisfying sound, try that with that garbage 160 gsm just-barely-under-card-stock paper, oh right you CAN'T, you will just get approximately one million paper cuts and a terrible wobble noise, no satisfying swish. Down with 160 gsm. Long live 80 gsm.

Anyway, this has been my opinion on paper, please send me your own paper hot takes so that I feel less weird for how passionate I just got about how much I hate those popular styles of notebook.

i like to think my work notebook and pilot juice pen is p normal looking but it was enough to prompt a coworker to slide over his fountain pen and it. wrote SO smoothly on my notebook like this particular hasn't taken kindly my other fountain pens hence why i stopped using them with it, but this one..... like the pages have a white grid on it and with my others it just somehow, grid still shows through

anyways he sent me a msg on slack with pen body + ink + link to the stationary channel

Going mildly insane because I got a Moleskine notebook from someone for free and the line spacing is so so pleasing and I cannot find any notebooks with 6mm or less line spacing that cost less than like $20 because there's like two brands that make them and they're the expensive ones ;-;

You know… if you count the pages, and pages, and pages of printer-paper-crayons-and-markers drawings I did in my preteens, Kim Possible is by far the fandom I’ve done the most fanart for.

I would spend pretty much all my free time either looking up references from the show and older artists’ fanart for inspiration (and subsequently wasting a shitton of my parents’ paper and ink printing out all those images and stapling them together as reference packets; smartphones weren’t a thing and I didn’t have any version of a laptop to save the images to for later viewing), or sitting in front of the tv with stacks of blank paper and containers of Crayola markers and crayons on a folding tv dinner table while I toiled away at my kid-brain hybrid of fanfiction and picture books. (That is to say, I’d come up with story ideas and then draw them with little bits of prose and dialogue written on each page. I didn’t know what graphic novels were at the time.)

I had huge stacks of these stories in boxes in my closet, that I’d stapled together as some form of binding. They were referred to as my “Kim Possible books.”

I kinda wish I hadn’t thrown all of them away out of private embarrassment in high school. It would have been neat to look back on them now, as a professional artist. Plus it was a waste of a lot of paper lol
