The thing about photography is that it reveals more than just images. Through her lens, Kaori Tanaka had documented countless truths that her subjects never meant to show. A trembling hand here, a genuine smile there – moments of authenticity caught between posed perfection.

But right now, staring through her viewfinder at Sana Minatozaki, she was seeing too much truth for comfort.

"The lighting isn't right," Kaori muttered, lowering her camera. The drama club's stage lights created harsh shadows, turning even Sana's perfect features into something too dramatic.

"Or maybe you're just trying to extend our time together," Sana teased, looking at her watch, 3:07 pm, shifting her position on stage. Her Romeo costume caught the light, making her look like some romantic hero stepped out of history. "How many shots do you really need for promotional materials?"

"As many as it takes to get it right." Kaori adjusted her settings, pretending her hands weren't shaking. "The drama club president deserves perfect photos, doesn't she?"

"Ah, so you do know I'm the president." Sana's smile turned playful. "Here I thought you never paid attention to anything but your camera."

If only she knew how much attention Kaori really paid. How many candid shots of Sana filled her private collection, moments captured between official assignments. The way she laughed during rehearsals, how she helped younger students with their lines, her quiet moments when she thought no one was watching.

"The whole school knows who you are," Kaori deflected, raising her camera again. "Now, look stage left…"

"EMERGENCY!" The doors burst open, revealing a panicked drama club member. "Juliet has mono! The understudy has food poisoning! The show's in two weeks!"

Sana's composed facade cracked slightly. "Both of them?"

"What about Natty?" someone suggested. "She knows the lines…"

"Natty's already playing Mercutio. We need someone new. Someone who can memorize quickly…"

All eyes slowly turned to Kaori, who was trying to pack up her camera and escape.

"Wait." Sana's voice stopped her. "Don't you have a perfect memory? I've seen you recite entire articles without notes."

"That's different. I'm not an actress."

"But you've been to every rehearsal," Natty pointed out, appearing suddenly. Her smile was too sweet to be genuine. "Taking photos, watching us practice… You must know the lines by now."

Kaori did know the lines. All of them. Including Sana's, which she'd memorized while pretending to focus on camera angles.

"I can't—"

"Please?" Sana stepped closer, and suddenly Kaori couldn't remember why she was protesting. "Just until we find someone else?"

That's how Kaori found herself at evening rehearsal, script in hand, trying not to combust as Sana played Romeo to her very reluctant Juliet.

"O Romeo, Romeo…" Kaori recited flatly, making Natty wince.

"More feeling!" the director called. "You're in love!"

"With all due respect," Kaori gritted out, "I'm a photographer."

"Not anymore." Sana climbed the prop balcony, ignoring the director's protests. She stopped inches from Kaori, close enough that her whisper wouldn't carry to their audience. "I've seen how you look at me through your camera. Show me that girl instead of this ice queen act."

Kaori's breath caught. "I don't—"

"You have a folder of candids. All of me. Momo told me."

Of course she did. Kaori was going to kill her friend later.

"That's not—"

"Isn't it?" Sana's hand found hers, hidden from view by the balcony rail. "The way you capture me when you think I'm not looking… No one else sees me like that."

"We should run the scene," Kaori managed.

"We are." Sana's thumb traced patterns on her palm. "This is the part where Juliet realizes she's fallen for someone she shouldn't want."

The script crumpled in Kaori's other hand. "Sana…"

"Say it like that for the scene." Sana's eyes sparkled. "Just like that."

The next run-through had the director in tears.

Rehearsals became a special kind of torture. Natty insisted on "helping" Kaori practice, her hands lingering too long during dramatic scenes. Sana started attending every session, her smile growing more strained each time Natty touched Kaori.

"You're enjoying this," Mina accused during lunch break, watching Kaori pretend not to watch Sana.

"I'm suffering."

"You're making her jealous on purpose."

"I'm being professional."

"Is that why you let Natty feed you during practice?"

Kaori flushed. "She insisted—"

"And Sana nearly broke her water bottle watching." Mina grinned. "For someone who claims not to care, you're playing this game very well."

"It's not a game."

But it felt like one, especially when Sana started finding excuses to demonstrate scenes personally. Her Romeo became more passionate, more possessive, until even the director had to call for breaks to "cool the tension."

Everything came to a head during their final dress rehearsal.

"The balcony scene isn't working," the director announced. "We need to stay late and fix it."

Natty immediately volunteered to help, but Sana cut her off. "Actually, I think Kaori and I should run it alone. To build chemistry."

The room emptied quickly after that, leaving them alone under the stage lights.

"You're doing this on purpose," Kaori accused once everyone was gone.

"Doing what?"

"This!" Kaori gestured between them. "The lingering touches, the loaded lines, making everyone leave…"

"Says the girl who lets Natty hang all over her while staring at me."

"I don't—"

"You do." Sana stepped closer, backing Kaori against the balcony prop. "You think I don't notice? The way you pretend not to care, but your breath catches when I get close? How you let her touch you but tense every time, while your photos of me…"

"Stop."

"Your photos show everything you try to hide." Sana's hands landed on either side of her head. "The angles, the lighting, the moments you choose to capture… They're love letters, Kaori."

"I'm just doing my job."

"Are you? Is that why you have shots of me sleeping during council meetings? Reading in the library? Laughing in the rain?"

Kaori's back hit the railing. "How did you—"

"I have my sources." Sana's smile softened. "Just like you have your perfect memory. Tell me, what's my line right now?"

"Thus with a kiss, I—" Kaori's words cut off as Sana closed the distance.

The kiss wasn't in the script. Neither was the way Kaori's hands fisted in Sana's costume, or how Sana pressed closer, turning the innocent stage kiss into something real.

"I knew it," came Natty's voice from the doorway.

They broke apart to find her standing there, phone raised. "Wait until everyone sees—"

"Sees what?" Mina appeared behind her, plucking the phone away. "The school's worst-kept secret? Please. We've had a betting pool for months."

"But she's—"

"About to star opposite Sana in the most anticipated show of the year?" Mina's smile was sharp. "Yes, she is. And you're going to be happy for them, aren't you?"

Natty stormed out, but neither Kaori nor Sana noticed. They were too busy looking at each other, realizing every pretense had finally fallen away.

"Your lines," the director's voice came from the shadows, making them jump. "Were perfect. That's exactly the passion this scene needs."

"How long have you—"

"Long enough to know tomorrow's show will be spectacular." They could hear the smile in his voice. "Take five, then we'll run it again. With the original blocking this time, please."

Later, as they walked home under cherry blossoms, Sana asked, "Was any of it acting?"

Kaori pulled out her camera, capturing Sana in the soft evening light. "What do you think?"

The photo showed everything her words couldn't say – love, in perfect focus.

I've completed another commission recently for @uss-solkar. This one of the primary sick bay and local deck layout for his ship - including the CMO's office, reception desk, attached lab, and a bunch of other areas.

The breakdown for these areas is below the cut.

The first thing, as always, is a block-out and scale test for the environment. This was based on a very detailed document I was given to give me some art direction.

Much like previous modelling I've done, I planned to do this as a single modelled area, but eventually pivoted to modelling each room individually. This gave me a lot more flexibility to alter things in the rooms but not messing up the whole scene. It did introduce some other issues, but I can live with the trade-offs.

The next thing to work out was the hallways.

These are based on the Star Trek Online aesthetic, and I decided while I was modelling individual sections that it would be much easier to have a modular system that I can twist around corners, or switch out parts for doors, consoles, windows, or whatever else was needed.

It also allowed me to (shameless plug incoming) put together my Star Trek horror/backrooms video Deck Zero. Give it a run, if you're into that sort of thing!

Once I was happy that I could create corridors to order, I started on the lab.

This is when I started working on the individual room modelling, which was a bit of a process to get right. Basically I modelled a single section of the room, then made it form along a curve in the shape of the room. This allowed me a lot more freedom to alter the room out, although came with a lot of teething problems initially, but came out looking better in the end, I think.

The elements in the room which I needed to ensure were present, included the circular computer console, the side desk, the TNG-era....wall orb...the corner desk, and the shelving. So obviously the next step was to do those.

After that, I had worked with the new method to build the room enough to be comfortable with it, so I started on the main sick bay and attached office.

Obviously this was probably the big focal point, so a lot of variations on a theme here, but the key is/was that it have a lot of bio-beds, a transporter, and several ways in/out of the rooms.

This meant building out a lot of assets, from the bio-beds, to the "laptops" used in TNG/Voyager, medical tricorders and other equipment, and the desks and trolleys to put this stuff on.

You might notice a lot of very specific tools which have been present in various Star Trek's over the years. I always like putting little touches in like this, as it helps sell the authenticity.

The CMO using the office is Bajoran, hence the painting on the rear wall. The shelves will eventually be filled out with various knicknacks including books, and a model of a Bajoran lightsail ship.

The window out into the corridor was also a request.

The last area to cover was an airlock to the internal cetacean ops to allow for medical teams to quickly access it. This was relatively easy to throw together, compared to the rest of the area.

And finally, it was putting the finishing touches in, like accurate LCARS, lighting, and all the other elements that go into making the final images at the start of the post.

i formally thank you, dinoclaws for making me a tfem nishiki believer and outspoken truther. i originally was quite indifferent about it, tfem or tmasc headcanons. it would be like offering caramel pudding to me; i don’t have an inherent desire to have it, but i certainly don’t mind if you give me this little treat of kindness. however, this case solely resides in my y0 stage, and now that ive experienced nishiki’s swimming up the raging river and subsequent consumption and self-immolation, i now understand where this headcanon lies, in the realm of toxic masculinity, and how that’s the only thing she’s surrounded by. i guess it’s in my eyes, a passage to be her authentic self, as i don’t believe that she would realize her own self in forms of gender until, say after the explosion. yeah, i think the transition is somewhat of a means of understanding herself in a way that is genuine and not clouded by the judgement of others (haha reference), and it allows a passage to understand what she really is and will be outside of the mold of the yakuza, esp. when it comes to kiryu. ive always thought that she would be closeted somewhat during k1. she’d try to strive to be that masculine ideal, because it’s the only thing she recognises as her own way of success. she’s every inch a man, and there shan’t be no other thing, shave off old skin, sensitivity and vulnerability for a thicker leather suit, except it’s non breathable material. she’s trapped in that ideal of sorts. im so sorry this is a very aimless and hapless rambling but i hope you enjoyed the caramel and vanilla pudding

I 100% agree with all of these points anon these were my exact thought processes when playing kiwami and developing this headcanon for myself ^^ I’m so glad people like you have started to come around to viewing Nishikiyama as MTF because it just makes sooo much sense to me! Her entire arc in k1 is a cautionary tale against toxic masculinity like the very same that is perpetuated by her environment, and headcanoning her as a closeted transsexual woman just adds so much more tragedy to the eventual obliteration of true self/personal expression that she goes through. Her idea of what it takes to be the ‘yakuza manly man’ that is expected of her is just so shaky and disingenuous, and seeing the kind of person that it turns her into by the end of the game is SOO TRAGIC ugh it’s so good. Again I’m always happy to hear the effects that my work has on rgg fans even if they’re small..MTF Nishiki is dear to me and my only wish is for her to be dear to all of you as well ^^ I have many more thoughts about this headcanon and what it means for Nishikiyama/the themes of Yakuza as a whole, which I’ve been compiling into a document and hope to post on my socials here soon hehe so stay tuned!! 😊 thank u anon for your thoughts

November 7th — Epilogue!

Seven years ago we all went through the flames; and the happiness of some of us since then is, we think, well worth the pain we endured.

How eerily relevant to current world events!

It is an added joy to Mina and to me that our boy's birthday is the same day as that on which Quincey Morris died. His mother holds, I know, the secret belief that some of our brave friend's spirit has passed into him. His bundle of names links all our little band of men together; but we call him Quincey.

I love you Quincey Jonathan Abraham Arthur Jack Harker 🥺❤️

When we got home we were talking of the old time—which we could all look back on without despair, for Godalming and Seward are both happily married.

I see it. I see it. We only need to remove one (1) word to make it work. Technically we could even leave it untouched. I see it.

We were struck with the fact, that in all the mass of material of which the record is composed, there is hardly one authentic document; nothing but a mass of typewriting, except the later note-books of Mina and Seward and myself, and Van Helsing's memorandum. We could hardly ask any one, even did we wish to, to accept these as proofs of so wild a story. Van Helsing summed it all up as he said, with our boy on his knee:—

"We want no proofs; we ask none to believe us! This boy will some day know what a brave and gallant woman his mother is. Already he knows her sweetness and loving care; later on he will understand how some men so loved her, that they did dare much for her sake."

Final thoughts

I LOVED IT!!!!! Which will certainly not come as a surprise to my Tumblr friends. Themes of monstrousness and humanity and love and resilience are my everything. This is one of the stories that will stick with me forever!

Quincey and Renfield remain my favourite characters. Jonmina has me in a chokehold. Van Helsing is such a funny character and was the topic of many debates with my sister. It says a lot that Dracula himself, the title character and overarching menace of the book, pales in comparison to the protagonists — sometimes kindness is more interesting than evil!

Why do you write Steddie?

Honestly the Stranger Things community was the biggest push. Before last year I had done very little creative writing but I’ve been a fan fic reader for years. When season 4 came out, I fell headfirst into Steddie and have not resurfaced. I’ve read so many touching, hilarious, smutty and heart-wrenching fics and it inspired me to write my own stories.

What’s your favorite trope to READ?

I LOVE a good secret identity. The deception, the tension, the reveal. It's all so good! I like how these fics usually deal with themes of persona and authentic self and how both of those affect relationships in the character’s life.

What’s your favorite trope to WRITE?

Crack, for sure. I like the idea that Steve and Eddie are so distinct character wise that you can put them in any wild situation and they still read as Steve and Eddie. Also I think it's just so fun treating a silly plot as seriously as possible.

What’s your favorite Steddie fic?

boots & budweiser’s miraculous misadventures by helix_stomper. I love this series so much. If I had to point to a singular Steddie fic that inspired me to write, it would be this one. The setup is golden. The dialogue is goals and the smut is so so so good.

Is there a trope you’re excited to explore in a future work but haven’t yet?

I would love to write horror, maybe with some monsterfucking going on? I just don’t don’t know if I can be scary enough.

What is your writing process like?

I have a huge word doc that I write down any and every idea that comes to me. If I like a prompt enough to go further with it I create a new document and write down everything I can think of that pertains to that prompt. Usually a story starts to form and I know I got something when a rough draft gets completed. Then I edit for hours and hours and hours. Currently I’m working on trying to muscle some organization into my process because it takes me forever to finish stuff.

Do you have any writing quirks?

Recently I’ve been listening to this 852 hz tone I found on spotify. I have no idea if there’s any science behind it but when I hear it I physically feel my eyes focus and I get more writing done. I usually play music out loud then pop in a headphone with the tone playing and even if it's just placebo, it works.

Do you prefer posting when you’ve finished writing or on a schedule?

Whenever I finish writing. I’m too excited to wait!

Which fic are you most proud of?

I’m really proud of Horny for Horsepower. Mostly because, even as a car, Steve was recognizable as Steve. There’s also a special place in my heart for Dear the King of Hawkins because of how easy it was to write. Things were just flowing and making sense. It's probably the least-frustrating-while-making piece of writing I’ve completed.

How did you get the idea for Dear the King of Hawkins?

Steddie brain rot has me inserting the boys into any and all media I intake at the moment so when I saw To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before it just clicked. I could imagine Eddie so easily having a hate crush on Steve and then someone-please-love-me Steve Harrington finding out and having a bisexual awakening. It seemed so juicy and I wanted to read it so I had to write it first lol.

When writing Dear the King of Hawkins, what was something you didn’t expect?

I was not expecting how fun it would be to write “King Steve”. I love reformed Steve’s journey but before he gains self awareness I imagine him as kind of bitchy? And that's just so fun to write. I was giggling to myself the whole time.

What inspired Body Over Mind?

There’s not a specific source but more like just a bunch of little things. Heads separating from bodies isn’t a new thing in media and me, being a degenerate, was like how come there’s not more smut on the subject? Also when it comes to sci-fi I really like when the genre shows the mundane. Like the everyday lives of people living in speculative futures. The concepts mashed together in my brain and Body Over Mind was born.

What was your favorite part to write from Body Over Mind?

Writing the actions of the boys' bodies was definitely my favorite part. It was kind of a writing challenge to show bodies expressing things without words and writing dialogue without gestures.

How do/did you feel writing Stiff by Day, Stiffer at Night?

The image of Steve Harrington in lingerie would NOT leave my mind while writing this one. Especially cause I made art for it as well. It was simultaneously inspiring and very distracting.

What was the most difficult part of writing Horny for Horsepower?

Finding song lyrics for car Steve to communicate with. I tried my hardest to stick to the 80s.

Do you have a favorite scene and/or line from any of your fics?

The scene in Stiff by Day, Stiffer at Night where Eddie realizes Steve is the mannequin he brought home was SO fun. Sweet baby Eddie is just so confused at the hot, partially-dressed man in his room.

Do you have any upcoming projects or fics you’d like to share/promote?

I’m working on a multi-chapter fic that may or may not see the light of day! Its a mystery/thriller omegeverse where Steve is hiding his Omega status (guilty pleasure trope for me). I've never written something that's not a one-shot so progress has been slooooww.

Outside of these questions, Is there anything YOU would like to add?

Just that I'm so fucking inspired by all the writings/art/content/love that the steddie community creates!

[Review] Lorelei and the Laser Eyes (PC)

Sayonara Wild Hearts continues to be one of my favourite games, and after my annual birthday playthrough of it, I decided to check out the Swedish developer Simogo's latest game. Unlike SWH it's not a technopop thrill ride but a moody and atmospheric puzzle adventure, which it turns out is more in their wheelhouse anyway as they have three other games in their catalogue that could be described this way!

In 1963 an eclectic German artist, Lorelei Weiss, is invited to an isolated hotel in central Europe by an eccentric filmmaker. Supposedly, they are going to collaborate on a new art piece, but what you find instead is a series of riddles and locks hiding a mystery that stretches into the past and the future. As you open more doors you uncover the series of occult events that led to a tragedy, and the reasons behind the surreal happenings at the hotel.

You control Lorelei as she strolls around this cramped and obtuse place (or breaks into a light jog if she's had an espresso recently). Helpful menus keep track of documents you've seen, your inventory, and a log of questions and events; referencing these is essential, but I also found it useful to have at least one other external source of note-taking (plus photos of the screen), to cross-check solutions and maps. These menus can be a bit fiddly with the "controller" interface, since it's a one-button game; I played this on my fancy new Steam Deck and it worked well apart from this. I haven't played too many of these deep game-wide puzzle experiences, but I certainly found this easier to get along with than Myst or La Mulana.

While you navigate the hotel, certain recurring themes help to reinforce the puzzle elements: specific years and character names have importance, and there's a maze featured prominently which you explore in a few different ways. There's plenty of spatial reasoning, number, and logic puzzles which are catnip for me, apart from which the game makes sure to have references for any required knowledge like Roman numerals, Greek letters, astrology concepts, etc., so it's all self-contained. Apart from getting hung up on certain puzzles that I didn't yet have the required clues for (I needed a slight nudge every now and then), I felt good about the difficulty and the game consistently made me feel smart when I made a deductive leap or connection.

The sound design is classy and minimalist, while the look of the game is very striking, mostly monochrome except for highlighting certain things in a bright crimson for effect, especially the eponymous laser eyes. The subtly shifting textures add to the heightened mood of this eery, slightly threatening place, but notably important things are easy to spot in the game world. I should note too that the threat rarely becomes overt; outside of specific, telegraphed events there is no risk of a game over, softlock, or point of no return, and the game doesn't jumpscare you or employ disturbing imagery for shock value.

LatLE likes to play with the reality of the story in fun ways too, and not just in anachronistic plot details. At certain points you play an in-game "prototype" of the game itself on a Playstation 1-like console, complete with tank controls, fixed camera angles, and texture warping. There's also sequences that ape early graphic adventures. These diversions are very relevant and mandatory, as all clues build towards a final puzzle in a most satisfying way. Of course, there's also the occasional optional diversion like collecting figurines representing Simogo's prior games, and even Game Boy-like minigames based on them, my favourite being the LatLE action-maze game demake!

I'm glad I gave Lorelei a chance; not being an aficionado of this genre, I nevertheless had a fantastic time puzzling through this intricate mystery. I love how it balanced fantastical elements with the mundane, in an authentically grounded European setting (and a bit of tongue in cheek wryness at times). It never got overwhelming, consistently dripfeeding problems and the necessary clues and tools to solve them, all while looking damn good doing it. Also, there's a cute dog! And maths!! What more do you need?

Being a famous Hellborn gave you some perks that so many did not have the gull to dream about. It gave you access to powerful people, and you climbed your way to the top of the Hellborn food chain. This is how you met the Sin of Lust, Asmodeus. You often provided protection for his dancers and other employees when they left the Lust Ring. Or when you personally delivered goods from other rings to the sin.

After a few years of this you met Fizzarolli, who's spunky attitude you had come to adore. You found yourself at Ozzie's nightclub more than you'd like to admit, and one night you had a red envelope with gold lettering sitting at your usual seat.

I have a different proposal for you tonight, meet me backstage after the show and we'll discuss

As anyone who wanted the Sin and his imp could imagine, the rest was history.

Despite your relationship with Fizz and Ozzie you spent most of your days in Greed. Dominating the heart of Greed Ring, your empire sprawled amidst towering skyscrapers that gleamed with the opulence of wealth. The air reeked of ambition and desperation, the constant hum of financial dealings echoing through the crowded streets. You reveled in the cutthroat atmosphere and the relentless pursuit of wealth that defined this particular part of Hell.

Still many days were spent traveling to other rings. You went to the Pride Ring a couple times a year, and looked after some business dealings there. Though you couldn't own a human soul, it didn't mean you did have proxies to deal in them for you.

The Envy Ring granted you access to different sorts of people who were willing to spend money to get things from unsavory means. You want authentic blood sapphires, you got it. You want real human teeth, it'll be x amount. You want to get your nails done by Pride's top sinner without ever stepping foot there, well you were sure it could be arranged.

Your favorite place however, was the Lust Ring. Not for the slobs who insisted that just because you were a succubus you wanted to bang, but for your loving and doting partners.

Ozzie large hands massaging your back, "Oh darling, these knots are deep, you simply must come visit more often"

Fizz's jokes at the club, "I know you're jealous, the people I bang are 1000 times hotter than you losers"

The pampering, the caring, and god the sex was amazing.

This time however, Ozzie called you while you were in a meeting with a new client who was in debt to a loan shark. Quickly you had your assistant take over the meeting and you stepped out into the hall.

"What is it Ozzie-bear"

"Hey Doll, Fizzie had some meeting in Greed today and I was wondering if you could maybe send someone to look after him, ya know, without him knowing"

"Why didn't you send people with him, Ozzie?"

"You know how he gets sugar, he gave me the puppy eyes"

With a little smirk and a roll of your eyes, you told him you would get your best and most discreet people on the job.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

"No biggie Ozzie, gotta keep our boy safe and sound"

After a quick good-bye, who are you kidding with either of your boys, good-byes were never short. A long string of I love you's and see you laters was given before eventually the new client and your assistant left the meeting room.

Seated behind your lavish desk, you sifted through an imposing mountain of meticulously organized papers, each document representing a different facet of your empire. When your phone starts to buzz.

"Boss, something bad just happened, Fizzarolli got into a fight with some imp then they were both grabbed, me and Hen are going up to find him but-" Two shots could be heard from the other end, and two thuds presumably the two hellborn you hired to protect Fizz.

You growled as you crushed the burner phone in your fist.

"Jazz, get my jacket, I gotta teach some bitches a lesson"

Fizz started thrashing on the floor of the cage they were put in, and Blitz looked as though he was about to explode. Then you waltzed in the door with your tail swinging in circles from your right hand.

"Hey Crimson, Hey Striker, long time no see boys' ' You jumped on a crate and crossed your legs. "I hear you have somethin' of value"

"Hey, Darlin', I sure missed yer face", Striker walked up to you and took your hand in his and placed a long wet kiss to your knuckles.

Internally you groaned, but you were going to get Fizz out of this no matter what. You pressed your lips together and crossed your legs a little tighter, "Mhm, Could say the same about you, Striker".

Striker chuckled a little and got back to business, discussing prices for Fizz like he was a slab of meat.

"I don't know Striker, we have a pretty lucrative contract on the books" Crimson teased.

Your brows scrunched, who could it be, and how did they get the word out so quickly. It took you less than an hour to get from your office to this dump.

"Hmm, I think I could find a quick buyer for the real deal Fizzarolli, I'll pay double what the other guy is paying" With that everyone in the room looked at you. Their eyebrows raised and a sly grin on their face.

"Double and I get to spend the night with ya, that's offers always on the table for you babe," As Striker propositioned, a flicker of irritation crossed your face – a testament to your aversion to these negotiations

"How about I see the merchandise first?" You tapped his nose with your fingernail and gave him a smirk.

"Anything for you sug" With a quick nod the cage descended from the ceiling and you hands went to the guns on your hips.

Two goons dragged Fizz and another imp from the cage and tossed them at your feet. You almost let your emotions get the better of you when Fizz hit the floor with a groan.

"Can someone untie them? I want to see the merchandise before I buy it, and I haven't got all day" Again another nod from Striker, and the two were untied.

Fizz had his hands over his eyes and was silently crying to himself. Despite you wanting him to look at you, to give him some reassurance, you also hoped he didn't just in case he revealed your relationship with him. Unlike Fizz and Ozzie, your relationship to them was more discrete. The other imp was still shouting, and you saw a gun holster, minus the gun, on his hip as well.

"I'd take the other imp, off your hands as well, he'll make a delicious snack for whoever buys Fizzarolli" Striker walked up to Crimson and started to discuss pricing on Blitz, with the right numbers Striker would give him to you because, as you learned, everything has a price.

You stalked over to Blitz, though the affiliation with guns was the only thing you knew about him, walked around him for a moment, quickly cutting the tape that still bound his hands with your sharp fingernail. Making eye contact with him you pressed a finger to your lips and shoved a gun in his hand without anyone noticing.

A smile spread across Blitz's face as you grabbed Fizz and threw him over your shoulder and started to make a run for it. You shot everyone you saw on the way down the stairs, while Blitz covered everyone behind you.

Once Fizz was safely in the car you continued to cover Blitz until he made it as well. However, before you could get in the car and signal to the driver to get away Striker pressed the hot barrel of his gun to your temple.

"Well sugar, I guess this is checkmate" But just before he could pull the trigger, Asmodeus appeared, snatching the gun from his hands and throwing it across the street.

"Just what do you think you're doing?" Ozzie growled in Striker's face. Ozzie grabbed him by the throat and squeezed. You just put a hand on his huge forearm, and he threw Striker to the ground.

With a growl the great Asmodeus shrunk and fit himself into the limousine with the two imps and succubus.

The driver peeled out of the place as soon as the door was closed and you collapsed into the nearest seat. Fizz huddled in a dark corner, his breaths coming in rapid gasps as panic gripped him. Your heart sank at the sight, a mix of worry and determination flooding your thoughts. Despite the familiar smell of wherever he was, he couldn't shake the danger of the gunfight or being held captive so quickly. Blitz stood over him leveling the gun at your forehead.

"Does ANYONE want to tell me what the FUCK just happened"

The screeching tires signaled your escape, but the tension lingered in the air, still adrenaline was high in all parties involved.

You explained the situation to Blitz while pulling Fizzarolli in between you and Oz who smiled up at the both of you.

"Ah Fizz you could've just told me you were fucking them", Ozzie, sensing Fizz's discomfort, shot Blitz a stern glance, causing him to back off immediately.

Blitz was waiting for the car to stop where he could get out and call someone who's name was Loona.

Once that happened you, Fizz, and Ozzie snuggled up in the backseat with both Fizz and Ozzie tearing up.

"I'm so sorry that happened Froggie, you will be getting a full escort the next time you even leave the mansion" Ozzie coddled Fizz all the way to bed and you tucked him in and told him that you and Ozzie had to talk business for a minute.

"Thanks for the save back there Ozzie, I would've been done for, if it wasn't for you" The slight burn on your head pulsed, a persistent reminder of the close call, but you dismissed it, not wanting Ozzie to worry unnecessarily.

"Sweetheart, you didn't tell me you were hurt" He grabbed your right shoulder and inspected the bullet wound that must've just grazed you, and the small burn on your temple you tried to hide with your fingers.

"I didn't even notice it Ozzie" Still he sat you down on his desk and bandaged you up.

"There, Doll, all better" You smiled as he kissed the white bandages, and picked you up to take you to bed. "By the way, Doll, you did all the heavy lifting".

You snuggled in a little closer to his chest and breathed out content with the moment.

"Breakfast tomorrow?" You mumbled already falling asleep.

"Always, pancakes with extra whipped cream" He set you between him and Fizz where you usually slept.

Your boys tangled their limbs with your and scooched as close as they could to snuggle up with you.

Forgive me if this is a foolish question, but would you happen to know if there’s any sources out there on historical prayer behaviors? IE body position, gestures, etc. I don’t come from a religious background, so I struggle to know to go about praying even when I know what I want to say

Gestures and actions during Irish/Gaelic Pagan prayer.

This is not a foolish question at all! In fact it is a great one. Honestly finding the right words is the hardest part. There is little in the way of documented proof of how pre christian Gaels prayed so reconstruction is necessary. This makes it tricky to find authentic sources, thankfully there is a few practice's we can reconstruct with a lot of certainty. (Sources in bracketed links)

Clockwise/Deiseal movement The act of moving in a circle in a clockwise direction (deiseal) is frequently seen to be auspicious and is used in many Irish Christian rituals. Many of these practices are still done today, especially at holy wells or other pilgrimage sites such at the various stations on Croagh Patrick (link). The opposite of this is anti-clockwise or Tuathal is frequently used in curses. This is a recurring theme throughout Irish and Scottish folklore and has been argued to be partially of a pre Christian origin(Link to book containing a chapter on the topic specifically chapter 10)

This is usually done at Holy Wells while doing the rosary. The well itself or an object near it like a statue, rock or tree is encircled by the worshiper usually 3 or 7 times while reciting the rosary. (link)(link)(link). And is a still living practice.

This clockwise movement was also used in medieval rituals, with supposedly in the Book of Fenagh, an inauguration ritual is described where a bell shrine was walked around a king and his solders clockwise. (in book chapter 10).

The use of the word deiseal and its association with blessing led it in the past to be an equivalent to "bless you" after a sneeze. (link). The sunwise or clockwise direction is synonymous with blessings.

Head down, eyes up The Carmina Gadelica contains a number of prayers from gaelic scotland. Many of which follow a standard christian practice and just as many are situational in nature like to be said while washing ones hands, however certain ones stand out as being representative of a greater traditions of actions due to their unusualness.

References to raising ones eyes (link) and leaving the palms open and outstretched are mentioned (link page 290)

Both women and men were said to curtsey with men doing a bowing motion much like a curtsey in that it involved the bending of the left knee to the side and the right one straight as a show of respect (link)

Curse pose While not involved with worship, poets when preforming a satire, often magical in nature were said to stand on one foot, with one eye closed, holding up one hand, and sometimes speaking with one breath. This seems to specifically used for cursing however.

What to incorporate into your pagan practice I would then recommend that while praying, walking in a circle in a clockwise direction with a bowed head, eyes up, while holding out your hands with the palms skyward would be appropriate. I like to have one hand over the other. After the prayer has concluded a curtsey should be done.
