Periodic reminder that unless a person specifically and clearly tells you it is okay to tell others they are trans or queer, you should err on the side of caution and assume they do not want you to tell people (especially random people!) about their transness or queerness.

You have no idea, generally, why somebody doesn't talk openly about their trans or queer status, and you have no idea, truly, how somebody might react to that information. The most progressive person out there is still capable of harbouring incredibly negative thoughts about somebody's queer status.

I like the idea that the whole "Lupin is some kind of faceless nigh-eldritch being who subsumes people's entire identities, and he's definitely Hiding Something under the mask he wears for a face" rumor persists in-universe because Lupin himself fucking loves it. There's no better way to both keep up your Criminal Mystique(TM) and stop people from meddling in your business than sinister gossip. He must get a huge kick out of people whispering about who or what he really is wherever he goes, and he's probably almost blown his cover giggling about it when he goes out drinking with Jigen in disguise.

Most of all, it's a hell of a lot more glamorous than the reality. Because there's no interdimensional, incomprehensible creature under the mask. It's old scars. Grey hairs. Crow's feet and frown lines. Powder burns and pockmarks from getting shot in the face. Cheekbones and nose cartilage not quite healing right. Eye contacts that keep getting thicker and thicker with each passing year. His path in life isn't the kind that's gonna leave a good-looking corpse, and he'd really rather not have anyone following him down it unless they know exactly what they're getting into. So if they believe it's ontologically impossible to become just like Lupin the Third... so much the better.

Im bad at writing coherent things but I need to get this concept out of my head so it stops haunting me.

I had this idea for another fic called The Undine Colony.

The setting would be the second colony by the sea- started when Sol is in their forties- the story taking place an unknown time after that.

It starts with the alarm that the original Stratospheric colony has gone silent. Collapsed all its networks, killed every signal, spirited away every colonist. As it still houses much of humanity's most advanced tech, like the servers for their holonet, essential parts of the power grid, this is an issue of extreme urgency.

And who better to turn to in their moment of need than Sol? So here they are suddenly jolted into wakefulness.

Their first thought is that they cannot feel their body. They quickly learn they are not in fact the real Sol, but only an AI copy made of their brain-scan from many decades ago. Though they cannot access the future vision as an ephemeral bit of software, they have superior computing on their side.

The gist of it being that AI Sol is now in charge of the 2nd colony to replace the hole left by Congruence, all while being tasked to figure out whats happening to the og colony & trying to reestablish contact. Aaand trying to piece together their own existence on top of it. Trying to find out what even happened to the original Sol. If they have something to do with this blackout.

So yeah, itd be slowly unfurling that mystery, piecing together the gap in their memory & issues of personhood.

i do wonder how much detail is in shauna's journals. esp w jeff asking her abt them in episode 6. like we know she uses them as an outlet of sorts, but i wonder if she kept up the habit of writing in them up to actual rescue, or if she gets so involved w being the most unhinged leader possible that they just stop at a moment that acts as a time capsule of where they were right before they truly lost themselves to the wilderness.

AU where Lucifer went down to New Orleans sometime between 1900 and 1910, right in the middle of Mardi Gras. Charlie was about 100ish at this time, and while Lucifer and Lilith were still together, there was a growing emotional distance between them that had been going on for a few decades at this point. Lucifer's just trying to have some fun and forget his worries for a little while, and he does. And he meets a nice lady. A very nice Creole woman who makes a mean pot of jambalaya with a kick right out of hell. They hit it off and spend the majority of the celebration together.

They get drunk. Very drunk. Lucifer doesn't remember most of that night. The woman, Nicaise, is pregnant.

By some quirk of genetics, the child comes out indistinguishable from a normal human, if significantly paler than his dark-skinned mother. Growing up, Nicaise always tells her son that his daddy was an angel, but all the boy sees is that his father abandoned him and his mother in a world that doesn't look kindly on black women or single mothers. He watches his mother struggle, he watches her suffer, and he grows up resenting and hating the men who make her life hell. Especially his father.

broke out my thesis for roommate tonight about how the way penalties are officiated in the nhl betrays a fundamental misinterpretation, on like a league-deep cultural level (that even spills over to much of the outside commentary/analysis), about what, exactly, the essential and original purpose of even having penalties in a sport is (hint: to consistently disincentivize rule-breaking behaviour via negative consequences and therefore enforce a fair standard of play within agreed rules). that's always a fun one. if i think too hard about how bad this league is at executing this utterly basic tenet of any organized competitive sport i eventually develop a three-layer existential-level-migraine.

While I have my TF mic in my hand. Maybe I am a little more severe on Prowl than what my heart truly believes in... but I really can't express enough how much I've really seen it all. Highs and lows. So so so many lows. And if me being a little harder on him for the consequences of his actions (specifically on other characters) will balance out the amount of excuses I've seen made for Prowl by the fandom then so be it. I really do think it does a disservice to other characters within IDW by ignoring the butterfly effect. I will move a mountain to get even one person out of the individualistic Prowl-only-focus era
