Edare: I respect you, Doubt, do not mistake my tone for anger. Your emotion has shown me the path up from depression and down from arrogance many times before, but this is utterly disappointing. She is a child, she is still emotionally weak, and her trauma is still incredibly real.

Doubt is meant to guide us and ground us, not further drive us to destructive abstraction and cast us adrift. I’m sure you’ve certainly heard this lecture before, from others less wise than I, but I wonder, have you ever truly reflected upon it yourself? Or have you disregarded it as vain attempts to deflect their doubt onto you?

Are you truly above your emotion? Are you devoid of it? How can you ever be so sure?
