Came here years ago to learn things. Which is how she ended up working at the library.

There’s totally a “restricted” section in the library that she guards like a hawk. If you try to get in there without permission, don’t be surprised to find your back on the floor and a foot on your chest in .2 seconds. She will bust out some ninja moves on your ass.

8 years ago... “You sure you know what you’re doing, kid?” the man asked her, making Nina stop sharpening her switch blade and turning her head to the side to give him a cold, silent stare. “It’s just a question,” he started, almost sounding as if he was defending himself, but she was tired of the constant chit chat. At this point, he was nothing but a white noise machine to her. “You ask too many questions,” she said, reverting her gaze back to the blade and the task at hand, “I’m starting to think we have a problem.” The man slid his hands into his pocket before talking a few steps forward and closing the gap between them. Remaining silent, he took a seat across her and sighed. “I can’t afford anyone on the crew being sloppy. You know what happened last night,” he said, making Nina stop sharpening the blade again. This time, her fingers wrapped around the handle tightly, her knuckles slightly changing colour. She knew what he was trying to say and she did not appreciate the commentary. If anyone on the crew was sloppy, then it would have been one of his lap dogs, but not her. She was way too careful, way too organised. “Don’t take it personally, darling. You’re still a sweet, young thing,” he practically hummed, his hands reaching to move a few strands of her hair, tucking them behind her ear to reveal a blank expression. “There is more than one way for you to prove your skills, you feel me?” She wasn’t even listening anymore. High pitched noise filled her ears, her breathing slowed down and her eyes remained fixed on a random spot just a couple of inches away from her shoes. Nina knew her value. She knew what she brought to the table. And she believed loyalty should be rewarded, not overlooked. Her life has been anything but easy and she worked hard to get to where she was and to create a certain image for herself. But above all else, she worked hard so she could demand respect, not beg for it. It seemed that was a little detail her friend did not pick up on. What a shame. With one swift move, Nina flipped the blade and buried it deep inside the man’s thigh before twisting. He nearly screamed, a ghastly look coming over his face as the colour drained out of it and big drops of sweat started to form on his forehead. His hand that had reached her knee by that point lifted off her and seemingly froze in mid air. “Would this be one of those ways,” she mused, fingers still wrapped around the blade. Whimpers started to fill the air around them as the man’s hands started moving towards the stabbed thigh. “Breathe through your nose,” she prompted him before twisting the blade again, this time causing him to make much more noise. Seems like the shock kept him from reacting the first time around. Good. “I am tired of your bullshit, Greg. Maybe I should be asking you if you know what you’re doing,” her tone was no longer calm, it was tainted with anger. “You fucking bitch,” he practically spat out, meeting her anger with his own. Nina chuckled and then sighed deeply, “See, I really wish you haven’t said that,” she shook her head before pulling the blade out from his thigh and resting the tip of it right against his Adam’s apple. “Your mamma ever told you that’s no way to talk to people?” his eyes darted over from her thigh to her face as he started to shake. She couldn’t tell if that was a response to their interaction or blood loss. “If she didn’t, Ghost certainly should have taught you that. What’s he going to say when he hears about last night?” she tilted her head to the side, her brow slightly raising as she continued to watch Greg sweat. His hands pressed against the stab wound on his thigh, trying to prevent himself from bleeding out right there in the warehouse and his pale lips pressed tightly together at the mention of Ghost’s name. Just as she thought. The guy was all talk, no game. “I’ll slit your pretty throat, Nina”, Greg whispered, “we both know you don’t have the guts to do what it takes. I’ll heal and then you’re fucking done.” What a dumb little boy he was. Making threats after he had been stabbed and while she was still holding a blade to his throat. The anger inside of her now turned into boiling rage. This was the last time he underestimates her. The last time he talks down to her for the failures of himself and others. She was the best damn dealer in that crew and he knew it. Just couldn’t fucking stand someone new coming up and potentially stepping up instead of him. That wasn’t her plan when she joined and it still wasn’t her plan now. She had something else on her mind now. Revenge. She leaned in closer, her nose slightly rubbing against his, “Make sure you keep pressing down on your wounds,” her words came out as a whisper. Anger in his eyes was replaced by confusion and as his lips parted to speak, she slit his throat and watched as he fell over from where he was sat and hit the ground. Gurgling sounds filled the air around her, but she didn’t flinch. She took a moment to watch him shake as one of his hands covered his neck and the other one pressed against his thigh.  Silently, she rose from her seat and bent down to wipe the blood off her blade against his shirt. No way she was putting a bloody blade back in her pocket just like that. She reached for her phone and glanced at the screen to check the time. There wasn’t enough time left to actually get rid of the body before everyone started meeting at the warehouse, but there was enough time for her to leave, grab her stuff and head out. Maybe she wouldn’t face real consequences. Hell, some people would probably think she did the gang a favour. Still, she did not want to roll a dice on that one and she certainly didn’t want to stick around in a place where the next douchebag might treat her the same as the one she just clipped. It was time to leave, but where could she go? Where could she possibly go...

Cassian grew up in a cop family. His parents met in the Precinct working under Alek his life pretty much revolved around the place. He knew from a very early age the city was dangerous. His dad has been out of commission a few times due to gunshot wounds and various other injuries. He didn’t really understand why his parents despite being humans wanted to protect this city that could literally give two fucks about them. It made him resent other species a bit but he would bare with it for his parents. 

When he was 16 years old and about to start consider career options his parents were killed in duty. His father first in a demon wolf attack and his mother was drained. They were months apart and after what happened to his father he begged his mother to leave the force but she wouldn’t listen then her death came months later because she was reckless. That affected him deeply but he wanted to make sure that those that do wrong by the law get in bars. He got a protection complex and as soon as he graduated from digitial forensics he went into police acadamy to then work as a detective. in his time at the academy he dated Victoria someone he cared for but found a little overbearing and it did not end well suffice to say.

He met his best friend Lavinia through his friend Sai. The only exception to his prejudice because he managed to get him out of a few scrapes in his university days when he was messing with code he shouldn’t. Cassian clicked well with Lavinia and they would go on nights out. She brought out his more fun side and didn’t make him feel less for being human. So for now he works in the police trying his best.

Brief Bio: 

Okay, so born in 1832. Victorian England. Family had a lesser title and all the obligations that went with it. Ended up married to an older, horrible sort of man when she was 17. 

Naturally curious, her father encouraged her learning, much to her husband’s dismay. That youthful glow that drew him to her soon faded as the years went on with him and she was unable to bear children. (Through no fault of her own. She was not the one with the issue. Admittedly, she doesn’t know that but I digress.) 

Met Kisuke somewhere along the way and even though it wasn’t keeping with decorum asked him a lot of questions. He did seem to appear in intervening years and always looked the same. That was odd, but maybe he had gotten lucky or something. 

Thirteen years of an unhappy marriage took its toll on her and she was a shell of her younger self. Which was when Kisuke made her an offer that she couldn’t refuse. 

Freedom... and it went to her head for years. She found a rather sick joy in tearing those men down who refused to adapt to the times. So many old, rich, entitled, white men lost their lives at her hand. So much blood. It made her giddy. 

And she couldn’t help being other things she’d never been able to be. Which meant lots of sex with lots of... men. Oh how she learned. 

Then Samuel happened. Drawn to him from the start like a moth to a flame. Met him 1880s Paris... high society... there was banter then things happened and it was soon a whole thing. Se was in way over her head which is why she ended up bolting. The girl had never been in love and wasn’t ready to settle down. She wouldn’t have known that’s what it was at the time, but she knows better now. It is her biggest regret to date. To not see that through and what could’ve happened for them. Broke up with him via pretty penned letter. 

Hoe life started to lose its appeal though in the intervening years. Pair it with the world changing and it simply didn’t work any more. Hoe-ing it up and taking men down didn’t give her the same satisfaction so she turned to her first love:

for the last 10 years, she’s been working for Shailene, and while of course it’s strange to not be regularly back home with her family, but instead be following her wherever she wants them to go, she has no regrets in it. Rose was born to a single mother, one who hadn’t planned to fall pregnant, but who had. Her mother, worried that someone would try to take her daughter, that her daughter would grow out of control, and that one day might have to be put down. Dark magic became her new friend in the desperation of having a power over her daughter. It didn’t lead the the way the mother had hoped for though. No, instead they were shunned from the coven, and leaving the coast of New Zealand, they went to America, starting a new life there. Rose was just 13 when they arrived in their new home. A rather normal life was attempted. High school eventually, and Rose disguising her powers. Her real self. Until one day when she was home with a boy. It’d begun good. But good turned bad, and the lit candle became an engulfing fire.

Why she felt as if everyone’s intentions were always speaking louder than their actual words. Why her attempts at healing always lacked the final flair, while her mother could teach her over and over, but she’d never quite get it the same way. 

When she was 19, she came to Maladh. A fire witch. That was what she called herself. She found a place in the Rosa gang, skilled with potions from a young age. Potions weren’t affected by her magic. Not to the same degree. Potions were about the touch. About the intention. 

She worked, saved every penny she could, and 1 year ago, she opened Rose’s Elixir. A quaint little potions store, focusing on potions, although she’d have a few other little elements of magic. Nothing big, just a little something. A potion for magnificent skin, a bundle of herbs to burn for good luck. An infused candle to burn for sweet dreams. 

But she’s not been seen doing much magic. A little thing here and there, lighting a candle, awakening the fire below her cauldron. Never anything big though. Never anything to draw attention to herself. Nothing to draw attention to her, other than her potions. For damn it, if she wasn’t going to be good at magic, at least she would be good at potions.

Daria was the first born of seven to Dimitri and Yelena Vasilyev, descendants of some of the first original werewolf packs that settled in Europe. From a young age there was no less expected from the girl but perfection.

Her education was not primarily led out for business, as the Vasilyev’s had twins right after, one of them being a son - it was expected he would take over the business - but Daria found herself very skilled with numbers and making big decisions, so she was training those things in her freetime. She was not interested to take over the family business, but she wanted to leave herself a way out of the family, in case, she would not want to play anymore by their rules.

Things seemed to be looking forward, Daria had just gotten married to a man her family approved of and she was planning to move away with him and lead their life with some distance from her parents. Figuring out she was pregnant at that time only added to that decision.

A few weeks later it was when her parents got murdered. Daria’s plans to leave everything behind and lead a new life gotten quickly buried. Her parents had left a young baby sister behind, one Daria and her husband decided to raise as their own.

Dante, her eldest brother was just as skilled as she was with the business, so they decided to share the responsibility and work. With the Alpha of the pack dead, the pack and family needed a leader. Brief Bio:

Lucia was born to loving parents and ended up with three sisters. They were a super close-knit family, and she wouldn’t have traded them for anything.

Beyond the basic family arguments, her childhood was perfect. Teenage years brought heartbreak, but nothing out of the ordinary. So there’s really not much to say about anything before that fateful night.

She’s originally from Staten Island, one of the boroughs of NYC. Now, politics get complicated. Over a series of years this crooked, greedy man started taking over property and things… buying off politicians and ended up running for borough president. He was basically as awful as you’re imagining. Now, Lucia’s mom couldn’t stand it. She was well known, well liked in the community and since no one was running against him, she took it upon herself to do so. There were so many threats on their lives, but they never thought anything would come of it.

Oh how wrong they would be.

Now, while this was happening in 2012… Lucia was sort of… casually… dating a lovely woman named Evelyn. She didn’t know that she was a vampire, but was in for a rude awakening very soon. Now they did have some fun with some mild blood play and this will be important.

In the dead of night, two days before the election, masked men snuck into their house and killed them all while they slept. Shouldn’t they have had alarms set or security? Probably, but again, they never thought this was a real, legitimate threat.

Lucia then woke up hours later. Imagine her surprise when she woke up and discovered the carnage around her. Blood lust… revenge… all those things struggling for dominance. Thank god for Evelyn.

Not that she didn’t get her revenge… she did go on a killing spree… systematically searching out everyone who carried out the orders… but when it came to the now borough president, well, she had other plans for him.

A long, slow torture is what he’d have to endure… as well as spreading his wealth to those less fortunate… threat always hanging over his head. Her end game is near for him as he’s old and sickly. But she’s not going to go into all the details on that one. 

So, she’s been a vampire for 23 years and is more so under control. Again, thanks to Evelyn and Farid.. the loss of her family is not something she’ll ever fully recover from.
