yes they will come for your flesh, call it carbon tax reform. it is your duty to say 'i can follow direct and explicit orders or i can think for myself, but not both.' it is with unity you must say 'you can tell me which individuals specifically of my brother/cousin/friends i should be murdering and when and where and why and how in every minute gory detail, or you can let me think for myself and accept the value of me putting the gun down. you can control me or relinquish all control, but not both. choose.'

As promised I went ahead and continued my "ghoul guide" with a part 2 (part one linked in replies)! This one covers stuff specifically with a made up lore guide of in-world ghoul stuff as if they were a sort of unique magic entity.
This one wound up way longer and had to be split so expect a third final one eventually lmao. for now though... I'm gonna take a break and yell. Bonus extra info plus the transcript under the cut!
ID in ALT text!
Bonus note: While not portrayed in the guide, it’s important to know a detail about ghouls’ origin called “memory echoes”. While ghouls are formed from humans past who lose all memory of their previous self while maintaining an assumed personality from before, at times certain instances of events, actions, items, and otherwise can trigger these “echoes”. Echoes are very rare, but a valued treasure to ghouls; they make them feel more connected to their past and more “human”. Upon triggering an echo, a ghoul will become completely listless, unable to respond or react until the echo has completed, usually within seconds.
“Memory echoes” are described as blurry faded memories that often show featureless shapes and colors, but a very strong “feeling” of a Deja-vu of the moment. They feel viscerally real and can have a mix of the senses i.e. touch and smell, but produce no recognizable faces or imagery of the self. No ghoul has ever reported fully remembering one, nor any semblance of their true past beyond the haunting leftovers.

A Compendium of Hell’s Derivates
While there are many theories on the demonic nature of ghouls,
The true source is surprisingly Human.
Souls cannot be recreated; rather, they’re Recycled and Reborn
The cycle of ghoul creation started for unknown reasons…
But one thing is Certain:
Natural forces do not change easily.
Raw elements collide with the fuel of life itself until one connects
by His command
A violent injection of pure elemental magic
Rewrites and erases all memory and one’s past, drastically altering the soul…
These new powers lend to the powerful allies of the ministry,
However….
… new powers are a dangerous toy.
While coined as “Feral”, new ghouls would better be designated “Raw”, “Unbound”, and “Lawlessly Dangerous”
First formed, they are still elements;
Torrential, Aimless,
Incapable of coherent thought or rules
-but with time, coherence returns to the individual
Who grows much like a life cycle’s stages without necessarily aging.
The overall cycle is the same per ghoul, yet varied enough each rises differently…
First form: “Raw” – Second form (1): “Feral” – Second form (2) – Third form: “Stabilized”
Catalyst, violent, poor formation – Unaware, wild, chaotic – Conscious; can act like oneself; less raw – fully formed and recognizable
The first form, “Raw”, is notably so violent the devil himself does not release them until stage two.
The second form in stage one of a “Feral” ghoul is much like the forces of nature; free willed and wild, understanding minimal speech.
Take caution: they can be mischievous and cause decent damage.
In the second stage of a “Feral” ghoul, they behave like typical people; however, they’re still very free and may choose to never fully stabilize.
Note: you can tell they’ve reached this stage by presence of a tail and civil habits.
If desired, a ghoul reaches the final form: “Stabilized”. They’re transformed into a stable humanoid body, a form less powerful but safer.
Note: Talented ghouls can change form at will in this stage between secondary Feral and Stable.
When it comes to location, each form is most likely to be found:
Raw: Hell, contained
Feral (Stage 1): wilds/natural areas
Feral (Stage 2): wilds and civil areas
Stabilized: anywhere people go
Seeing feral ghouls is not uncommon, and can even be considered lucky!
They tend to provide free protection to keep their home
Ghouls can only stabilize via ministry ritual;
One can assume they’re ministry members if stable, even off duty.
Ghouls are uncommon, but found most places if looked for;
This seems especially true near ministry placements.
Ghouls only form from adults and don’t “age” traditionally, yet they’re still mortal
Deceased ghouls do not seem to return or recycle.
Summoning intentionally pulls only second stage feral ghouls or stable ghouls from anywhere,
They don’t always like this however (see other guide).
The cycle of ghouls serves a main purpose – as forces for the Dark One, in return for rebirth
However, there are two channels through which they serve.
1) Natural defense against corrupted holy magic
Non-stable ghouls defend at will naturally where they live
2) training to fight, protect, and uphold the ministry’s efforts in the name of the Devil.
Contrary to belief, summonings cannot grab from “nothing”;
Like the creation of a ghoul,
Their element, once developed, is what becomes pulled by nature
The force of such pull is incredible,
A disorientating test of will so great…
…it can render even the most sound minds rather violent.
This is why while some choose to stabilize, others may not;
But should a mind change, they can be freed or re-summoned.
Alternative to wild summoning, one can summon from trained ghouls over feral;
Many ghouls are trained for ministry positions all over, but any can be summoned if unassigned.
Though stabilized, unassigned ghouls are not contractually bound to anyone until assigned.
They’re great for extra work hands and being able to know what kind of team mates you’ll get without leaving it to chance.
Summoning any ghoul however reverts them to feral form, and the challenge to tame them remains the same.
Just because you know a ghoul does not mean an easy summon.
Finally, be warned: forcing unwanted breaking or upholding of a summoning contract
Will have dire consequences.
Aside from rarity of an element, there are “power classes” within each element.
Tiers:
Rarity of an element does not equal strength.
The break down is as follows:
Rare – extreme and dangerous power. These ghouls earn a specialized title.
Quite strong, stand out in their class and very sought after.
Most common tier; average and decent powers that are expectable.
Weak powers, but some uses are applicable.
Uncommon – ghouls who possess little to no powers. Ghouls in this tier may at times suddenly change power tier without warning to any other category.
S-Tier ghouls are quite rare and a sight to behold- truly, they embody nature’s power.
End transcript.

It’d be interesting to see Vil speak with Mama Rosehearts, considering they both can be perceived as having similar motivations (Maintaining strict rules/regimens for the improvement of yourself/your child).
Family means Nobody is Left Behind or Forgotten.
"... and that concludes our tour of Pomefiore."
With an elegant hand, Vil indicated the lounge. The regal parlor boasted plush purple cushions, gold trim, and sumptuous crimson curtains. Classic and tasteful, crafted in the spirit of the Beautiful Queen.
"You may relax here and enjoy our amenities if you wish. I will be present if you have any additional questions about the dormitory.”
A soft murmur rippled through the crowd of parents. Several of them shuffled off to claim seats or into smaller groups to mingle. But one woman, dressed head to toe in red, remained.
She stepped up to Vil, accompanied by the smell of roses and antiseptic. A bouquet brought to a hospital, fresh flowers laid out in a patient's room.
“Mr. Schoenheit. I wanted to thank you for that informative, insightful tour. It’s clear that you are well-disciplined and meticulous in carrying out your duties as dorm leader. You’re an example to be followed.”
“You’re very welcome. I’m honored by your praise, Miss…?”
“Rosehearts.“
“Rosehearts…” Vil’s brows shot up. “You wouldn’t happen to be related to a Riddle Rosehearts, would you?”
“That would be my son.”
"Ah, I thought you seemed familiar." He flashed his famous, perfect smile for her. "Excuse me, I had no idea I was speaking with the mother of a fellow dorm leader. Riddle is quite competent for a second year and tirelessly works to ensure that the Heartslabyul students stay in line."
"Yes, he’s always been such a good boy—but with him being away from home for his studies, I worry about bad influences getting to him. Knowing that Riddle has some good role models like yourself around sets my heart at ease."
Vil gave a laugh. "Bad influences? Surely he has the wherewithal to tame them. I’ve seen him work his magic on more than one occasion.”
“Perhaps, but I’m afraid this runs far deeper than a few miscreants running rampant.” Rosehearts sighed deeply. “There’s this boy—” she practically spat the word out as it it was toxic, “—constantly at his side, whispering poison into his ear. His vice dorm leader, in fact. He’s been hovering like a fly to a flower since Riddle’s youth, tempting him into skipping lessons and partaking in sugar.”
Vil had an effort to not let surprise register on his face. He fought the amused smile his lips wanted to form.
Did I hear that correctly? Riddle’s mother finds fault with Trey? The mild-mannered man that knocks on the door with free cakes every other week? That Trey?
Vil cleared his throat, reorienting himself. “It can certainly be a problem to frequently indulge in vices. From what I recall, Trey has a terrible habit of enabling others. He’s the type of man that finds it difficult to tell someone ‘no’. However, there is value in indulging oneself every now and again. Riddle could make do with the occasional reminder, lest he burn out like a star.”
Mrs. Rosehearts gaped at him. With her jaw unhinged so wide and painted red, she resembled a goldfish.
“A mother knows what is best for her child.” There was an edge to Mrs. Roseheart’s words. Prickly, like thorns. “That boy cannot be trusted with my Riddle’s wellbeing.”
“Your Riddle?” Vil repeated the phrase, and it tasted wrong. Too fiery hot, almost possessive. To keep it in his mouth for too long was to let it burn his tongue.
“He’s my son.”
His gaze hardened, but he kept his poise, his practiced smile. “If you do not mind my saying so, madam… A child may belong to the parents, but children are independent entities. Part of a parent’s responsibility is knowing when it is appropriate to stand back and grant the child space to make their own decisions.”
“I’m fortunate to have a father that grants me that. I have him to thank for the man I am today, mother or no mother.”
Mrs. Rosehearts had grown increasingly red in the face. From anger, embarrassment—she was like a bomb, close to blowing. Here, in public, with so many onlookers.
"You have no idea what it takes to raise a child," she spat. "How dare you talk down to me...!"
And so Vil diverted, diffusing her.
“… In any case, that is my personal experience. I do not intend to give others parenting advice. I’m inexperienced in that area myself.”
Vil placed one hand on his hip and lifted the other. He, a poisonous flower amid the roses.
“But allow me to offer you this: as someone who works closely with Riddle, I can assure you that he is coming into his own, on his own terms. Myself, Trey… All of us are merely there to support him on that journey. I hope that you can be that support for him as well.”

This was intended to be an essay about chivalry—its history, its uses, its various incarnations—medieval violence, the Romantic reinterpretation, the ideal of chivalry in the American South and its attendant lynch mobs. I would have talked about the chivalric triad: Knight, Innocent, Enemy—the way the Innocent serves as a fulcrum for the Knight to enact violence against the Enemy—the iterations of this triad in any number of places in our society, from the so-called sheepdog mentality trained into our police to the legion of revenge-fantasy Taken clones. I would have talked about the way Kierkegaard in Fear and Trembling incorporates chivalry with the sacrifice of Isaac, the theology of self-justified suffering that comes from that. I would have talked at some length about various portrayals of lesbian chivalry in media—Revolutionary Girl Utena, the Locked Tomb books, Signalis—how they use it, what they say about it, and whether at the end there is anything worth salvaging from this intrinsically violent way of relating to the world, to others, to oneself, to God.
I think a version of that essay might still be worth writing someday, but right now, there's something I need to talk about much more urgently. Right now, there's something I suspect you might desperately need to hear. Today I'm going to talk about Godzilla.
GODZILLA SAVED MY LIFE: A Polemic
Godzilla Minus One (2024) takes place in Japan in the immediate aftermath of the Second World War. Its protagonist, Koichi, is a failed kamikaze pilot who in the opening scenes is repeatedly excoriated for his cowardice and dereliction of duty. When he returns home to a bombed and desolate Tokyo, his bereaved neighbor tells him, if people like you had done their duty, this would not have happened. The film spends the rest of its runtime doggedly refuting this idea. It says, out loud, that the relentless calculus of sacrifice that turns men into things to be spent has no place in this world, that it is needless and cruel. It is not subtle about this point. It is not trying to be.
I saw this movie in its black and white version in theaters in February, on the last day of its run. Its version of Godzilla inspires in me both terror and near-religious awe. It looms over the film, an echo both of the devastation of the war and of Koichi's guilt and shame, its presence inviting—demanding—the final consummation of the mission he abandoned.
I wept in that theater. I gripped my friend's hand and I sobbed. This is unlike me (unless I'm watching Gunbuster), and it took four days for me to work out why this Godzilla movie had affected me so profoundly.
arkansas kamikaze
and she looked, and behold! a beast rose from the sea, and against the beast he breathed glory in a Zero dive. his beatified smile shone from the wreck of the Little Rock Planned Parenthood clinic. and a great wind blew out of heaven, and she woke
and made breakfast, and watched her son wholly absorbed in Bonhoeffer, found her lipstick worn down to the nub for practice stigmata, and saw for a moment the dove descending, the tongue of fire over his head.
The thing about being raised in a right-wing fundamentalist family is that you are from birth being prepared to be a weapon, or a martyr, and there is really no difference between those two things. If my mother had had her way, I would have gone to a tiny far-right college and studied law for the sole and explicit purpose of getting Roe v. Wade overturned. She would, I believe, have settled for me bombing an abortion clinic. Certainly it would have been easier for her to reconcile with that than with what I became instead.
The other thing about being raised in a right-wing fundamentalist family is, some things stick. And it's very hard to notice, as your beliefs and values and identity undergo radical changes, that there is still a whisper in you that believes in the power of the glorious death, of the ultimate virtue of strapping explosives to your chest and walking into the halls of the Enemy. And when you feel helpless, when you watch systems and institutions that ought to prevent atrocities instead encourage them, that whisper grows louder and louder and louder.
Watching Koichi fly his last mission, watching him an instant before impact eject, and live—watching everyone live through the final confrontation because they had all rejected the calculus of sacrifice—allowed me to see also for the very first time this parasitic idea that had grown coiled inside me since infancy, allowed me to see where it had come from, its whole monstrous lineage, and then it allowed me to take hold of it and pull it out.
Twenty days later, Aaron Bushnell set himself on fire outside the Israeli embassy in Washington, DC, in protest of the still-ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people. He was, like me, raised in a right-wing fundamentalist environment. He was, like one of my siblings, a member of the US Armed Forces radicalized by his experiences and his own conscience. People called him a hero and martyr—on this very site, in responses to the excellent Crimethinc piece circulating at the time, I saw people saying they felt like they should follow suit (even though the article in question explicitly and repeatedly warned against it!) As if the loss of a person of conscience and conviction could be anything other than a tragedy, as if anyone in power choosing to support the genocide could regard the death of one of their own soldiers as anything other than what soldiers are for, as if the moral response to a genocide could ever be to add another corpse to the mountain—and still I saw people lionizing him, praising his courage and his sacrifice, all but telling people to follow in his footsteps.
No. Aaron Bushnell was a suicide. He lived his whole life within organizations that taught him that he could purchase more with his death than he could ever accomplish with his life, and while we may praise his conscience, we can only mourn his loss and the grievous error that led him to it.
This is the thing about learning to see this parasite: you begin to see it everywhere. Our history for millennia is awash with human sacrifice: Abraham and Isaac, Jephthah and his nameless daughter, Agamemnon and Iphigenia, the crucifixion of Jesus—and later, litanies, row upon row of dead saints, stories of glorious last stands. The courageous martyred dead: blood and corpses, only and always, to Moloch.
In light of the recent US election, perhaps many of my American readers are feeling shock or horror or despair. I understand, and without blame, with love and gentleness, I tell you that this is because you have not correctly understood the scope of the problem. You imagine a discontinuity between the liberal version of American capitalism and imperialism and the fascist version of the same. No such discontinuity exists. Things will no doubt be different for us here in the US than they would otherwise be, and probably worse, but there is no distinction to be made between the genocide of yesterday and the genocide of tomorrow. The enemy is the same. The work is the same.
Above all else, this is to warn you: when you do this work, when you look for a place you can put your shoulder to the wheel, there will be people who want to spend their lives—or yours—like coin to purchase some great change immediately. Perhaps they mean well, and helplessness and desperation drives them to act without regard for the consequences. Perhaps they do not mean well. Do not follow these people. Perhaps they merely expect you to go to prison, and have no plan for how to support you after that. This is barely different. It is far better for you to languish in useless liberal nonprofits which will accomplish nothing of value than to attempt radical direct action with people with correct politics and no forethought, and end up dead or imprisoned—but these are not the only two options. Aaron Bushnell cannot ever again do anything for anyone. You can.
This is as much as I know for certain. I love you. Don't die.
-------
End Notes
It would not be unreasonable to ask me, in light of what I've said here about martyrdom, what I think of it in other cultural contexts, especially since a similar word is often used to refer to e.g. Palestinian people murdered by Israeli soldiers. The answer is nothing at all. Such people get to use whatever words they want to salvage whatever meaning and comfort they can.
Godzilla Minus One, as effective a movie as it is, was not solely responsible for the scales falling from my eyes. It was an important part of the process, but I doubt it would have sufficed on its own were I not in community with people I trust and talk to about such things. "Godzilla and also my trusted friends saved my life" is, alas, a worse title.
There will be a part two to this. Part one seemed more urgent.

THE FLAME HASHIRA'S TSUGUKO — platonic kyojuro rengoku & reader !
synopsis. what is the flame hashira like with a tsuguko? warnings. spoilers for mugen train arc. kny-typical warnings (violence, death, etc.) brief mentions of food and eating. notes. STRICTLY PLATONIC. demon slayer!reader. reader uses flame breathing. gn!reader. they/them used. fluff. 1.3k words. second in my tsuguko series! if you enjoyed, do let me know who you want to see in the next one ^^
muichiro ver.
if there is one hashira that is most sought out as a mentor, it is kyojuro rengoku.
to young demon slayers, he is the best candidate. he's warm and welcoming to the new recruits, he's much more approachable than other hashira, he doesn't look he would beat them to a pulp in the name of 'training'. whenever there is a new batch of slayers freshly accepted into the demon slayer corps, there is a wave of requests to become his tsuguko.
however, kyojuro has never actually looked at his pile of applications. they lie untouched in a small stack, gathering dust in a corner of his estate. the system of sending in an application in the hopes of achieving a mentor had never made sense to him; surely the only way a worthy tsuguko is chosen would be by dazzling him with their skills?
that's how mitsuri became his student, and that's exactly how he ended up with [name]!
they were practicing alone in one of the training rooms when he happened to walk by, on his way to a hashira meeting. kyojuro stopped in his tracks, drawn to the bright lights and warmth that only flame-breathing created.
he glanced into the room, and was immediately captivated by their skill. it wasn't perfect, by any means—at a hashira standard, it was downright sloppy—but there was a certain passion in their eyes that caught his attention. they were pouring every ounce of effort in their body into flame-breathing, with an energy that only a truly determined fighter held.
they had strong potential, he could tell from just a few seconds of watching them. if that wasn't a worthy candidate for tsuguko then he doesn't know what was.
“impressive!”
“huh?! who said that?”
when they accept, his training begins the very next morning. he wakes them up at dawn, looking far too refreshed for how early it was, and puts them through a series of drills to test their strength and speed. this is followed by some light sparring, before he encourages them to show him what they know about flame-breathing.
between exercises, there are a few values he instills in his student.
the first is the one he thinks every demon slayer should believe: the duty of the strong is to protect the weak. he will train them for as long as it takes for them to gain strength, so that one day they will be able to protect people as he does. anger and a desire for vengeance would only push them so far; they needed to know what they were fighting for, who they were protecting.
the second is less selfless, but no less noble in his eyes: to take care of others, you must take care of yourself first. he knows firsthand that neglecting the health of one's own body in favour of duty will only make him less capable of carrying out said duty, so he makes sure to drill the words in their head. proper rest, hydration, and sustenance are essentials for keeping oneself in top condition, and ready for battle.
the final is the most difficult to learn: loss is heartbreaking, but inevitable. kyojuro has been a part of the demon slayer corps for a long time, and before he was a hashira, he was a beginner demon slayer. he has experiences missions that have failed, he has witnessed casualties—both civilian, and his fellow slayers. while protecting innocents is a hashira's top priority, he needs his tsuguko to know that death is unavoidable in some situations, no matter how skilled they are. that doesn't mean that it is their fault, when tragedy strikes.
training is rigorous, but kyojuro is an excellent teacher. he is patient when they're struggling, eager to praise their improvements, no matter how small.
he builds a rapport with them fast. months of training go by, and their progress is simply incredible! he couldn't be more proud!
by then, he honestly treats his tsuguko like a second sibling. like, of course they are invited to family dinner with senjuro, was that ever a question? senjuro himself was slightly wary about them at first, but it didn't take long for him to warm up to them too.
family dinner is nonnegotiable, by the way. it only happens about once a month when kyojuro isn't on a mission and senjuro has the time to cook a meal for them, so it's treated very seriously. they will show up and they will enjoy it, or they will have to deal with senjuro's quiet sullenness and kyojuro's passive-aggressive sighs of disappointment.
(kyojuro used to invite his father to these dinners, but he was always met with a blunt dismissal whenever he tried to ask. senjuro told him to just let it go, so he quietly gave up on attempting to include him. family was much more peaceful when it was just the three of them, anyway.)
during the colder months, he has a habit of throwing his haori over his tsuguko’s shoulders after their lessons to keep them warm on their way back to their room. if they try to protest it, he just waves them off with a laugh.
“do not worry, young [name]! i can assure you that i have no problem with keeping warm myself! but i can't have you freezing before our next training session, can i?”
he is a kind mentor. brave, encouraging. he never looks down on his tsuguko, even when the gap between their skills makes it clear he is—and likely always will be—a step above them. to them, he is unshakeable, untouchable.
well. until the mugen train mission, that is.
they were in the middle of resting from a mission, when kyojuro's crow landed on their windowsill and delivered the news: in the battle against upper moon three, kyojuro was fatally wounded.
for a second, they couldn't quite believe it. it was only a few weeks prior that they had seen him, grinning and pushing a bento box into their hands, promising he would be back to train with them soon enough.
the grief hits them hard. they can't fathom the idea of never hearing his bright and cheerful voice wake them at the crack of dawn, never feeling his warm hand clap against their shoulder to give an encouraging squeeze. tears spill over, their breath chokes in their throat.
he is gone. there won't be another family dinner, or spontaneous training session, or trips into town to watch sumo wrestling. they were alone; a tsuguko without a mentor, a fire without any kindling.
it's then that their mentor's voice rings in their head, reminding them of the three lessons he taught the.
the duty of the strong is to protect the weak. kyojuro died protecting his fellow slayers. it was an honourable death, and one that he would be satisfied with.
to take care of others, you must take care of yourself first. with shaky hands, they pour themself a cup of soothing tea. kyojuro would urge them to focus on keeping themself healthy during such a grief-filled time.
loss is heartbreaking, but inevitable. kyojuro was dangerously aware of his own mortality, and never shied away from the idea that he might die any day. he would enthusiastically talk about how when he is gone, they will be the next flame hashira.
kyojuro wouldn't want them to fall apart without him. he would want them to keep burning like a inferno, channeling their emotions into their breathing until it was as sharp as their blade. the last thing he would want is to let his death destroy the fire in their heart.
so they stop. they breathe. they mourn. then, they hold their head up high, and steady their blade at their side.

Man, I loved Alicole in S1. The courtly love aspect really drew me in and the potential of both characters, individually and separately, made me excited for S2...only for it to fall apart completely. I wasn't expecting it to be The Princess Bride or anything, but damn. It felt like ridicule and even with Criston's speech to Gwayne in the "finale", I can't even muster enjoyment because it's so hollow after what we got in S2. I know it's supposed to be a tragedy but their characters have been written so weirdly that I cringe every time I see a picture or gif of them together.
At university I studied courtly love (l'amour courtois) as it existed in medieval French literature. Because in medieval times marriage, especially among nobility, was a political and economic affair, love was viewed oftentimes separate from marriage. One manifestation of this is courtly love, described as an experience between erotic desire and spiritual attainment, "a love at once illicit and morally elevating, passionate and disciplined, humiliating and exalting, human and transcendent" (from The Meaning of Courtly Love).
Some suggest core tenets to courtly love: that the love is illegitimate, furtive, adulterous in nature; that the male lover holds an inferior position to the woman, who is often elevated in station; that the man completes quests, trials, challenges in his lady's name; that there are rules and subtleties to it, similar to chivalry or courtesy (from Études sur les romans de la Table Ronde). Devotion, piety, and gallantry were valued characteristics.
Many stories portray this love, like Tristan and Isolde and the tales of Lancelot and Guinevere, as well as songs, such as dawn songs, or albas / aubades, poems that spoke of lovers parting in the morning before rivals or spouses discovered them. One such song is Reis Glorios by the "master of troubadours" Giraut de Bornelh:
youtube
The potential for exploring courtly love in relation to the pairing of Alicent Hightower and the knight Ser Criston Cole is vast and could have been a fascinating expansion of the relationship between the two as it existed in Fire and Blood. Whether it resulted in a physically consummation of the love or existed as a romantic and spiritual devotion between a noble lady and her knight, there was so much that could have been explored: how does each view the other as the personification of chivalrous ideals of honor, duty, loyalty, piety? How do the rules of courtly love and its secret, private nature influence the interaction between these two? How does their courtly love influence their motivations and the actions they take in their journey? And, if physical, how might each view this in the context of their vows, responsibilities, and their ideals?
The least likely scenario of all of this, when it comes to this pairing, is a situation in which a decades-long mutual admiration somehow evolves / devolves into meaningless physical consummation of the relationship, especially considering not only the illicit nature of such an affair but also the ideals that both characters hold in relation to duty, honor, chivalry, and their own relationship to sex.
Yet once again this is the writers interpreting the story through a solely modern lens. With this tale, they focus on a solely physical experience in the context of Alicent finally "getting off" after being in a loveless marriage all her life, and its purpose is 1) to position her in contrast to the mourning of the main character ie "look how selfish and evil Alicent is, having sex with Rhaenyra's ex while Rhaenyra looks for her dead son" 2) portray her as hypocritical and paint the conflict between the two women as somehow solely the result of jealousy for sexual freedom / hypocrisy at hating sexually free women while wanting it / achieving it oneself (despite this clearly not being the crux of the issues between these two women) 3) set her up to be responsible for the death of her own grandson and lighten / distract the moment of Blood and Cheese with the purpose to mitigate the blame put upon the actual perpetrators by having them have sex during the sequence, pointing the blame at her and Cole for not preventing the act set in motion by the actual perpetrators, removing her role in the actual event as it was written in the source material.
By taking this stance of a solely physical, using each other for sex, modern lens of the relationship between the lady and her knight, it misses out on a more accurate exploration of what love and sex really looked like in a medieval setting. The story truly suffers for it, as do these characters. Instead of an exploration of feelings, motivations, or the development of this relationship across decades, it is reduced to a one dimensional plot device created solely to make the characters look worse in relation to others.
Unfortunately this pairing is not the only part of the show to suffer from this pattern. The result is the world and characters feel incomplete and hollow, divorced from the setting, the logic of the universe, and the humanity of these characters. Nowhere is the "human heart in conflict with itself" that GRRM explores with his characters and stories. And really, courtly love would have been a phenomenal way to build upon the themes GRRM loves to incorporate into his stories.

Celestial Insights: Exploring Astrological Dynamics and Personal Charisma
People with Virgo Mars signs have a tendency to communicate their fury clearly and precisely. They frequently have an excellent sense of detail and can identify the particular thing that has irritated them fast. Sometimes this directness catches people off guard, particularly if they don't anticipate such a quick turn from argument to confrontation.
Because of the influence of their ruling planet, Saturn, Capricorn rising individuals are recognized in astrology for their careful and realistic approach to relationships.
Astrology attributes aggressiveness, confidence, and a dynamic energy to Aries, which can truly give them a powerful demeanor. Aries people are frequently described as being beautiful and charismatic, and their ambition is shown in their tenacity ("mom I'm the rich man" mentality).
It is possible that Andrea's metamorphosis and adjustment to Miranda's expectations in "The Devil Wears Prada" are similar to a Pluto-influenced path of self-actualization and empowerment. Pluto relates to extreme metamorphoses, power dynamics, and deep psychological processes. Andrea's development into an even more effective assistant than Emily, her coworker, may allegorically represent Pluto's impact on aiming high and standing up for oneself in difficult situations.
People with Mercury square Saturn frequently approach jobs and conversation with precision and strategy. The tension that arises from the square aspect of Mercury (thinking, communication) and Saturn (structure, discipline) might make them feel as though they require precise instructions in order to feel confident in their actions. They could find it difficult to be spontaneous or unclear, and they would rather follow set rules. This can also apply to routine duties, when they look for particular aspects to guarantee accuracy and efficiency in their work or obligations, such as location, color, and layout.
People with an Aquarius Sun or Rising frequently have a distinctive and one-of-a-kind presence, particularly in online or digital settings. They frequently value uniqueness, creativity, and nonconformist thinking, which might help them stand out in the digital world. They are fascinating and memorable to others because of their charisma and intelligence, which frequently come through in conversations and encounters. They are considered to be "internet stunning" by many, which is partly due to their innate affinity for technology and their capacity to interact with a wide range of ideas and viewpoints.
It's common to characterize Aries Sun people as charming and self-assured, qualities that might add to their allure for women. They might be inherently attractive to others because of their forceful demeanor and sense of adventure. Aries people are also renowned for their physical vigor and frequently have a youthful appearance, which can include qualities like a pleasing face structure and straight teeth that improve their allure. Their smirky, lighthearted, and occasionally naughty personality might enhance their appeal. When it comes to sexual attraction, these traits taken together might make people born under the sign of Aries stand out.
Capricorn moons indeed respect loyalty and dedication in partnerships. They may develop strong emotional bonds with their loved ones and struggle to let go of unpleasant or pleasant memories of the past. Capricorn moons are renowned for their fortitude and will to bounce back from setbacks, even when someone wrongs them. They might use their hurt or rage as fuel for self-improvement, trying to become the best versions of themselves both as a covert means of self-validation and as a means of personal development. Their methodical and aspirational approach demonstrates their drive to overcome obstacles and make a lasting impact.
Neptune can produce an air of mystery, appeal, and charisma when it is placed in the first house, which represents the self and how one is viewed by others. Neptune is also related to dreams, illusions, and spirituality. Neptune in the first house can give off an alluring aura that attracts attention. They frequently arouse curiosity and appreciation due to their dreamy, sensitive, and artistic appearance. However, this location can also lead to misunderstandings or unreasonable expectations from others, as Neptune's influence can blur lines between truth and fantasy.
When considering astrology, the combination of water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) and fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) placements can indeed bring issues connected to emotional and behavioral dynamics. Fire signs are defined by passion, aggressiveness, and spontaneity, whereas water signs are usually connected to feelings, sensitivity, and intuition. A person's chart may show imbalances or discordance between these elements, which can result in unresolved issues including victimization and attachment problems: Victimization: If their emotional requirements aren't satisfied or if they think they're being mistreated, water signs are more likely to feel victimized or to be extremely sensitive. Fire signs, on the other hand, may respond impulsively or assertively, thus worsening emotional problems.

The Sacred Home
I wanted to share some information about my multi-cultural and spiritual teachings as relevant to one's home / household. To me, your home is a sacred space. Your home / household is an extension of yourself, your expressionism, your story and life experiences. It consists of sacred spaces used for your most intimate moments, it holds your dearest treasures and sometimes deepest truths, and the walls of your home have seen a-plentiful laughs and tears that other people and places of the world have not.
Table of Contents
Personal Philosophy
The Ancient Greek Household
Protections, Cleansings
Crafts Per Room
A Little Bit of My Own Personal Philosophy
I was speaking to a friend recently about how I always offer to buy him food, even when I'm struggling financially, especially when he visits my home.
He had told me at one point in this conversation, "I know food is a love language of yours."
Though, I somewhat disagreed with the specifics of this notion. I responded with, "It's more about . . . the state of the home."
He asked for more details, and I shared this . . .
A home is supposed to be welcoming, warm, abundant, and pleasureful.
It's about ease of access, gratitude, honoring and appreciating your guests, and ensuring they know they're valued and that their needs are met.
It's a show of hospitality, consideration, care, love, celebration, joy . . .
It's not about the good. It's about what it represents.
It's about why you provide it.
It's to reinstate the love.
To respect oneself and others and the home, all guests deserve a dish of food or cup of drink.
Love and home are my language, not exactly food itself.
I have found this teaching in common across my cultures . . . Indigenous, Greek, Trinidadian, and more.
The beat of your ancestors drum your walls, and the air is filled with the energy of the home's residents . . . So fill it with joy and love and celebration and relaxation.
It's the only place on earth that you can stake claim to in such a way. That makes it sacred.
The Ancient Greek Household
The family, the family's house and the family's property (land, items, etc) were all deeply important aspects of Greek culture. In fact, devotion and worship were often prominent in the home as Greek religion / spirituality was deeply integrated into Greek culture. Oral traditions, lore, and the values passed down all involved the people, the gods, and the environment. Quality of life and wellbeing were prioritized, alongside the duties of every citizen. Following concepts of xenia and teachings of community were a huge center of devotion, worship, and living a life in accordance to what their deities, ancestors, and families taught them generation by generation. It was important to respect yourself - protection, responsibility, etc were emphasized values in this regard - and others (guests, family, high-status people like Oracles and leaders, etc). Of course, everything varied by region or era, but overall these teachings have found their way home to me and I carry them with me with dignity and care.
The household - residents, property, items, and forces / spirits who defended the home, were all deeply integral aspects of the sacred home. The hearth was the center of so much of it - a fire (typically in the living room area) that would rarely be extinguished (usually just for ritualistic reasons and rare necessary occasions, otherwise it would be considered a bad omen). Each home had this flame, and when a new home was claimed or a new household began, one of the first things done was the flame would be lit.
Hestia, the first-born goddess of the gods, and one of the original Olympians, was the goddess of the hearth - she represented warmth, safety, peace, and continuity in some teachings (in others, she represented simplicity, dedication, comfort, authenticity, and embrace, but these are not inherently traditional domains of this goddess).
Zeus was the king of the gods and "savior" of the Olympians. His name translates to "Cloud-bringer" and he was noted as the god of the sky, weather, and thunder/lightning. He has been titled King of Gods and Men, or Father of Gods and Men, as ruler. Originally, he was a god of justice ("dike"), order, society, and xenia/xenios. Xenia is an important value, even today, which outlines hospitality, kindness to strangers, friendliness, and similar themes. The idea behind Xenia, according to various theologists and historians, was originally, "You never know if the stranger knocking on your door is a god in disguise, so treat any traveler / visitor with utmost consideration, care, and generosity within your home." (Again, I'd like to specify that between regions and eras, there are shifts and discrepancies in these ideas and values. Additionally, no one culture, community, spiritual / religious system, or people, are one-size-fits-all.)
Some households still follow a similar tradition, of lighting the fire and keep it going with the home. Though some people devote themselves to this ancient custom, many people modernize this practice by having a candle or other safe (but usually smaller) flame going in the home (or even utilize crystals and other tools, or even prayers to Hestia, that aid in connection to the element of fire).
Similar traditions were carried out, such as sacrificing the first and / or last bites of a meal to Hestia or the gods as a sign of honor, respect, and / or devotion. This was typically a gift, but was a social norm as well (such as buying gifts for a wedding - you don't have to, but it's a sign of poor self-esteem and / or arrogance not to - this is just an example, a loose example based on another social norm, please don't hate me I don't think it's awful to not buy gifts especially if you can't afford it lol).
Protections + Cleansings
Protections and cleansings are a huge part of respecting your home, and therefore yourself and your guests. Your home is full of energy, so filling it with the energies you desire is of utmost importance. There are many sacred and cultural ways to protect, cleanse, and stake claim to your home.
Saging using white sage is traditional for many Native Americans.
Herms (and other protective statues) were used by the ancient Greeks and sometimes still by various people today.
Singing and dancing fills your space with your energy, and synchronizing with music is incredibly protective. Prayers can also prove fruitful, as well as verbal banishings. (Remember - witchcraft and energy existed even prior to fancy tools and symbiotic relationships with plants.)
You can read about a few other protective practices here and you can find other helpful posts here. Remember, when setting up protections, make sure to include all of your bodies (emotional, physical, spiritual, etc) as well as your space / home.
Cleansing your home is really important, too. The Greeks believe(d) in miasma, which you can learn more about here. Cleansing is important - if you're exposed to bad energy, go through something detrimental or difficult, carry negativity in your bodies, or otherwise feel dirty or like you need to be refreshed, cleansings are there for you! If your home feels stagnant, closed off, or icky, cleansing can help with this too!
Some ways to cleanse include spiritual baths. My personal favorite is to combine a cleansing bath with a glamour spell!
You can also go basic and use selenite (if you're Native American or otherwise ethically trained, using white sage is great in combo with this - otherwise regular sage can help too - for cleansing, or protection and cleansing together).
Simple things like washing your hands in clean water with a prayer can help too.
Overall, there's dozens of options for protections and cleansings (sacred and non, various cultures / religions / spiritual beliefs), so it's just about finding what fits best for you!
Crafts Per Room
Of course, you can practice any craft at any time in any room. However, I thought it'd be fun to end this post with some craft associations per rooms of the house. This is for entertainment purposes only, and I try to give examples for each!
Foyer:
Spirit work (staking claim and stating boundaries, dealings and transactions with various spirits, spirit communication, etc - but be careful! If done unsafely or "improperly" this can be dangerous!)
My favorite thing to do by my front door (I wish I had a foyer!) is to leave offerings from deals with various spirits / deities. I also love to leave my door unlocked for guests, especially while I play music, but I have to make sure my space is thoroughly protected first and I prefer closed doors as to not invite unwanted spirits. Additionally, I advise against mats that say "welcome" as spirits may take that as an invitation inside.
Living Room:
The hearth (as listed above) - candles, aromatherapy, and incense-related practices works great too!
Song + dance (as listed above)
Nature-based workings work great when utilizing items you bring into the home, working by open windows, etc! Not to mention, various practices are great in the living room if you own any cats, as cats can neutralize negative energy with their purring
Hanging relevant decor or spiritual items (dreamcatchers and totems for example, but other things too like beads and tapestries) is usually easy in the living room because the walls are typically vaster in the living room compared to other rooms of the house. (Making items in this area is also a great practice and a habit I love!)
I love divining in my living room (or dining room), especially as I use incense for my tarot readings specifically!
Bedroom:
Sex magick (for adults)
Candle magick (this usually involves more serious workings, but it's also easier to focus in your own personal space!)
Bathroom:
Shadow work or prayer (this is excellent when showering or in the vicinity of water!)
Glamour magick (great when you have a mirror, a bathroom to echo sound if you play music, etc!)
Water magick (need I say more? haha)
One of my favorite things to do in the bathroom is a cleansing spiritual bath (usually herbal or just with salt and selenite) in combination with a glamour spell (might include a sigil, relationship-focused love workings, or just some enchantments or energy work)!
Another note I wanted to make hear is that traditionally in many cultures and societies, the bathroom or wash area were used as communal places. For Irish women, it was a place of sisterly or feminine bonding and empowerment. For many Greeks and Romans, there were outdoor or communal baths. The list goes on. So though many intimate workings can be performed in the bathroom, many communal workings can be as well - as such, many feminine workings (or even masculine, if that floats your boat) can be performed here efficiently, too!
Laundry Room:
Cleansings are very efficient here, especially if you don't have a backyard or garden. Usually laundry rooms are a bit closed off from other rooms of the house, or directly lead outside, so even a level of spirit work can be efficient here too (same as in your garage)!
I love to take time in the laundry room to peacefully cleanse. As I cleanse my clothing, I cleanse myself, usually with energy work and prayers but not exclusively. It is quite calming and peaceful, and the psychological associations from watching your clothes cleanse at the same time can work wonders!
Kitchen:
Herbalism / kitchen magick / green witchcraft
Familial, generational, or cultural recipes (often have powerful recipes or properties)
Energy work with tea / other drinks or food
My favorite thing to do in the kitchen is cook. Witchy tip: If you have extra seasoning (salt) in your hand once you're done with your food (I rarely do because I'm heavy-handed with ingredients, but every once in a while it happens) throw it over your shoulder! This repels bad energies or spirits with ill-will.
Garden / Greenhouse:
Connecting with nature spirits and natural elemental forces is great in your garden or greenhouse!
Gardening, foraging and gathering
I love to grow succulents (even in-doors) and forming strong relationships with them. Plants are very "go with the flow" beings but that doesn't stop them from being grounding, protective, empathetic, and great for mental health. Becoming friends and learning to work in relationship with your plants . . . that has made a huge difference for me. If not succulents, I recommend growing lemons as lemons are very protective! But there's honestly a plethora of herbs, veggies, etc, that you can grow, depending on your environment and zone!
Remember, no matter what you choose, please make sure your bodies and your home are cleansed and thoroughly protected before doing anything else!
Your home can be a beautiful space of personality, intimacy, and a reflection of your relationship. It can represent who you are, who you used to be, and who you want to be. It can be a space of giving, kindness, and communal support. No matter what you do with your home, make sure it feels right to you, because it's the only space that's ever truly "yours" (even if not permanently) and because of that, it is sacred!

. . . YINQI, THE PHOENIX ON A JOURNEY . . .

“it’s not a desire, it’s a duty one keeps. to protect, to keep safe, to never let go. even if it means losing oneself.”
a lady from a place now forgotten. forgetful yet full of optimism, she embarks on a journey for tomorrow, one filled with happiness and wonder. with her heart and mind set on one thing, YINQI continues to uphold her values, keeping her people safe, keeping them alive.

as the Astral Express’s nurse, YINQI usually resides in her infirmary, a place she calls her room, her sanctuary, her anchor. what she calls home and a safe haven, though, is not a place.
when not on duty, or when the express is mostly empty, YINQI chooses to look through the data bank. she herself is not sure why; maybe because she wants to know more about her origins, about her fate, about the place she longs for so much. but then, she usually pauses, wondering: does she really long for another place, for a place that’s not the Express? would she really be accepted and welcomed so warmly somewhere else?

do you think hanges death is unnecessary? Considering some people were unsatisfied with her conclusion?
No, I don't think Hange's death was at all unnecessary. Beyond just the practical necessity for her death, buying the alliance time to get off the ground with the plane, and thus make it to the final battle against Eren, it also made thematic sense for Hange to sacrifice her life.
I understand people being upset at Hange dying, but given Hange's insecurity in her role as Commander, and her sense of failure as Commander, and also given the theme of duty and sacrifice that runs through the entirety of "AoT", and how Hange's ultimate sacrifice reflects and mirror's Erwin's, it makes perfect sense for her character to have gone out the way she did.
Levi specifically says to Hange that she "sounds like him" when she starts talking about whether their comrades are watching and whether they feel proud of them, and Levi delivers his line with an obvious sense of grief and despair. I think one of the main themes of "AoT" is the tragic aspect of duty and of how having a sense of duty to something often destroys people. It destroyed Erwin, with the way he was torn between his personal dream and his duty as Commander, creating in him a deep sense of self-loathing, and we see the same thing, tragically, happen to Hange, not because she's torn between a dream and her duty, but because she feels she's failed to live up to Erwin's example as Commander.
I think Levi is maybe the only one who realizes that tragedy, which is why he looks so sad when Hange makes her decision to die. I think Levi views the pressure to live up to the duty and expectations placed on oneself, either by oneself or by others, as something regrettable, again because it can destroy a person. I think Levi's ambivalent feelings about his comrades sacrificing their lives to the cause of the Survey Corps, because they felt it was their duty to do so, is rooted in that, too. Levi wished they could live in a world where nobody would have to feel like they needed to give their lives to any cause, because, after all, Levi values life above all else, and he wanted to see people able to live. That's also, I think, why Levi looks so despairing while the other members of the alliance are forced into battle against the Yeagerists on the dock, because they've been forced into this sort of duty to stop Eren, and it's forced them to have to kill people they once considered comrades and friends. It's a total tragedy. "AoT" often frames duty and obligation as such, as something tragic, and Hange's death falls right in line with that portrayal.

The Ethics of Rationality
The ethics of rationality explores the moral dimensions of reasoning—how we ought to think, why we are obligated to be rational, and what responsibilities come with our reasoning abilities. It bridges epistemology, moral philosophy, and cognitive science by asking not just what is rational, but what is right about being rational.
1. Is Rationality a Moral Obligation?
One central question is whether individuals have a duty to be rational:
Epistemic responsibility suggests that we are morally accountable for our beliefs, especially when those beliefs affect others.
Believing things without evidence, or engaging in self-deception, can be viewed not just as cognitive failures, but as ethical wrongs—especially in areas like science, politics, and public discourse.
2. Rationality and Integrity
To act rationally often means to act consistently with one's beliefs, values, and reasons. This consistency is tied to:
Moral integrity: Acting out of principle and not merely impulse.
Autonomy: Respecting oneself as a reasoning agent. Failing to be rational can thus be seen as a betrayal of one’s moral character—like abandoning truth for convenience.
3. Rationality and Others
The ethics of rationality is not just personal—it’s relational:
Deliberative ethics: In discourse or argument, we owe others clear reasoning and intellectual honesty.
Cognitive empathy: Understanding others’ perspectives fairly is a rational and ethical act. This is why fallacies, propaganda, and manipulation are not just illogical—they're unethical because they degrade trust and shared understanding.
4. Instrumental vs. Moral Rationality
Instrumental rationality: Reasoning efficiently toward goals (e.g., maximizing profit or survival).
Moral rationality: Asking whether the goals themselves are justifiable. Someone may be "perfectly rational" in a narrow, utilitarian sense but still act immorally if their aims are unjust. Ethical rationality calls for reflecting on our ends, not just our means.
5. Bias, Ignorance, and Willful Irrationality
Modern ethics must deal with cognitive biases and motivated reasoning—tendencies to think in self-serving or tribal ways. The ethics of rationality thus includes:
Critical thinking education: A moral good in society.
Intellectual humility: Recognizing limits in our knowledge.
Moral courage: Willingness to question one's own deeply held beliefs.
Summary
The ethics of rationality challenges us to treat thinking itself as a moral act. It asks:
Are we reasoning in good faith?
Are we being intellectually honest?
Are we using our minds to uphold truth, justice, and shared understanding?
Being rational is not just about making "smart" choices—it’s about honoring the deeper responsibility of being a moral agent in a complex world.

I have just read your Take prisoner one shot. While it's isn't smut, it's interesting to see Thrawn having a degradation kink. What other kink do you think he will have ?
Breeding kink.
So I have spoken.
Okay seriously, he does like breeding (Chiss have large families and he tries to recreate that), he likes to dominate (gently!) but also to submit to his partner, shibari on (especially)himself or his partner, cunnilingus (he prefers to give to you, but if you want to go down on him you are more than welcome), he likes to be restrained in some way, he loves edging his partner and forcing her to have multiple orgasms. Not afraid or revolted by period sex in the slightest, he will gladly propose it to you to ease your cramps.
He fantasizes about laying huge flimsies on the ground, throw paints on it and fuck his partner on them to create art with the movement of their lovemaking.
Painting on himself or his partner.
Intelligence and skills are very sexy in his eyes.
Anything that could be considered artsy in a sexual setting is a kink of him. WILL ASK YOU TO MODEL IN VERY FINE LACED LINGERIE (or fully naked) AND TAKE PICTURES FOR HIS ALONE TIMES.
Loves to edge himself for long periods until he can cum with his partner.
Mirror sex, especially if you're insecure, he would love and and adore and caress all of your body and force you to listen to all the praises he has for it.
You know how some men love to say "You were made for me" ? Well as time goes by I realize he is the type to say "I was made for you", something, something, deep devotion in duties and love, something, something, only valuing oneself in ones capacity to be used and useful, something, something, dramatic and gut wrentching but poetic, something, something he really needs to hear the words "I love you, you are a valuable person no matter your failures and downfalls." Please someone says it to him, my man needs validation and love.
He loves casual pda, like hand holding, chast kisses on the cheeks or the lips, cuddling when he is on leave and an anonymous civilian in the crowd, not when he is on shift. Loves to serve and help you around, and loves receiving words of affirmations.
BUT MOST OF ALL
HIS FAVORITE THINGS EVER
✨Cakes and garlic bread✨
(if you know, you know)
(no i will never shut up about that)

Saturn x Personal Planets 🪐
When Saturn forms aspects (like conjunctions, squares, trines, or oppositions) to personal planets in an astrological birth chart, it can influence the nature and expression of those planets. Here are the characteristics associated with Saturn aspects to each of the personal planets:
1. Sun-Saturn Aspects:
• Positive Traits: Discipline, patience, perseverance, a strong sense of responsibility, and maturity.
• Challenges: Potential for self-doubt, feeling restricted or limited, fear of failure, and a tendency to be overly critical of oneself.
2. Moon-Saturn Aspects:
• Positive Traits: Emotional strength, ability to endure emotional hardships, reliability, and a deep sense of duty to family and loved ones.
• Challenges: Emotional detachment or coldness, potential for feeling unloved or unsupported in childhood, and difficulty expressing emotions.
3. Mercury-Saturn Aspects:
• Positive Traits: Methodical thinking, practicality, attention to detail, and ability to concentrate for extended periods.
• Challenges: Pessimistic or overly cautious thinking, hesitation to express ideas, potential for feeling intellectually inferior, and being overly critical of one’s own ideas.
4. Venus-Saturn Aspects:
• Positive Traits: Loyalty, commitment, and a desire for long-lasting relationships. They may also value traditional or older styles of romance and beauty.
• Challenges: Fear of rejection, hesitation to open up in love, potential for feeling unloved or unworthy of love, and a tendency to stay in relationships out of duty rather than genuine affection.
5. Mars-Saturn Aspects:
• Positive Traits: Discipline in action, endurance, determination, and the ability to work hard for long-term goals.
• Challenges: Frustration, potential for suppressed anger, feeling like one’s actions are constantly being blocked or limited, and potential for overexerting oneself.
In general, Saturn’s influence often brings structure, responsibility, and discipline to the planets it aspects. While these can manifest as limitations or challenges, they can also bring strength, endurance, and maturity when those challenges are faced and overcome.

I Won't be a Pessimist - Magnus Hjaelmar

Positivity is a sin Can't you see the world is grim? War in every country and town; How dare you find reason to smile now!
Turn on the news and see for yourself The world is hell and we're without help; Check your phone for this and that Find these people murdered and passed; See the sky is full of blood Shed without a rising sun
Political mess You fail to assess The tragedies that plague us en masse
Social media feeds us hate A commodity marketed for their sake; Anger is engagement for their glee And engagement's a profit of prophecy; Algorithms, reports, curated to tragedy To terror and fear and negativity
Our anger drives us all to hate Our pessimism is simply money they make On the driven traffic to platforms forged Through war among the despairing poor Who fail to see that no one is free When media chains us to negativity
We ride the rage high like ketamine and dope The media holds us by noose and rope; Without any mercy they pull the plug And leave us dangling from the rungs
And why should they care? They got their fair share; Yet here you lie in a grave of defeat Having only lived a life of deceit
Did your worry and fear stop the war? Did your anger and hatred fix the world? Did your arguments with strangers stop the cultivation Of this garden of weeds when we could grow a nation With love and joy where we lift one another And give to the needy and to each other
The news is tragic, and news is default We are each deemed failures equal in fault If we do not engage daily with these For what is oneself worth compared to seas Of damning loss we could defeat?
But how can we be of any help If there is nothing left of ourselves who've dealt Our wellbeing thin across the negativity In worry, fear, and anger; don't you see?
We play into the games of rage And feed the machine of negative weight
To see the beauty and light of life Is branded heresy, ignorant of strife; Finding joy and reasons to smile Are surefire ways to be dogpiled; The world favors pessimism and fuels it so With the worldwide media as our primary control
But there is hope yet to be found In neighbors and communities abound Giving help to one another; That person led a turtle to the river; This bus just drove a disabled person Instead of making them walk without reason; The entire neighborhood just pooled together For the family whose house was lost in the weather; Your best friend values the shoulder you gave; Those centers value the food you made
They say you have a moral duty to see The worldly events of you and me; No, you don't. But there's responsibility To find the joy and positivity And share it for the world to be free From the cycle of pessimism, a drowning sea; Hoist the sails and find optimism with me In the form of helping those you love And giving joy more than you shun
If this is not within your current worldview Then know that positivity begins with you
Make the change and lend a hand Help that animal, neighbor, or friend And see the small things will do more Than sitting behind a screen like a chore
Find a passion and be free Break the cycle of negativity; But never ever give into the worst; Fuck the media, fuck the hurt Fuck the pessimism, let's put joy first
