Thinking about how Flynn’s loft is absolutely covered in signs. Street signs, window signs etc. this is his #1 drunk activity. He has a wrench on him he just- he just steals signs.
Many a time he wakes up on Alan and Lora’s couch cradling whatever treasure he found the night before. No matter how Alan tries he’s never going to put it back. Finders keepers.

Open Arms
For the first time in a year, Flynn is in his house, in his bed. His room is dark. Peaceful. Lora and Alan are asleep on either side of him, their arms linked over his chest so they're holding him and each other.
Lora's face is tucked against Flynn's shoulder. Her hair is soft, and it smells like oranges. His arm is wrapped around her back. He can feel her breathing, along with the steady beat of her heart. Meanwhile, Alan is snoring into his hair. One of his ankles is hooked around Flynn's, and the hand that isn't holding Lora's is laced with his.
So much contact from his favorite people is grounding—comforting—but it also causes something inside of Flynn to break. Tears prick at his eyes as he lies there, soaking in their warmth and their touch, the sounds of their breathing.
He missed this. For nearly 50 cycles on the Grid, he'd longed for his partners. Quorra noted his aversion to sleep, and assumed it was because he didn't need it. In truth, Flynn could rarely bring himself to sleep alone. He'd adjusted to it once, after Jordan died. But Alan and Lora brought him so much solace when he finally let them in—he couldn't give them up, too.
Most nights, he'd longed for this exact moment so intently that he couldn't sleep. He'd sit awake, meditating or staring at the place where the portal used to be, until Quorra joined him for the monotony of another day.
Flynn never thought he would have this again. Never thought he would feel this loved, and wanted again. So why does he feel like he doesn't deserve it? Why does it feel like too much?
Maybe he should leave. Get up for just a little while, get some air. Flynn winces, moving as slowly as possible so as not to disturb his counterparts. He doesn't make it very far.
"No," Lora says, half-asleep. Her hold on him tightens. Flynn's heart squeezes painfully, grief and fierce affection making his eyes sting.
"I want to check on Sam," he says.
Alan shifts on his other side, curling closer. "Sam is fine," he murmurs. "He's asleep, like you should be. You both need to rest."
Now they're holding me hostage, Flynn thinks. He can't decide whether to laugh or cry. "I can't sleep," he says.
There's a moment of silence, though he can all but hear Alan and Lora thinking. Flynn learned long ago that they can communicate without words—much like their programs.
Oh, their programs… God, he hurt them, too.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Alan asks. Guilt swirls in Flynn's gut. He didn't mean to wake them, doesn't want to bother them.
"I'm not sure where to start. It doesn't really make sense." Flynn laughs weakly. "It's just weird, being back home. I mean—I'm glad I'm here. I wanted this so badly. But it's still… strange. I didn't think it would feel like this much of an adjustment."
It's stupid. Flynn has been back for mere hours, hardly long enough for such worries to hold merit. What right does he have to complain? To the people who saved him, no less?
They should rebuke him. They don't.
"You can have all the time you need, Flynn," Lora says. "We're not going anywhere."
"And neither are you," Alan adds, somewhere between teasing and threatening.
Flynn sniffs. Definitely inconspicuous.
"I don't deserve you guys," he says.
Lora hums. "Doesn't matter," she says. "You have us."
She rubs at his arm, small, soothing motions. Alan cards a hand through his hair. Flynn melts into their ministrations; closes his eyes.
"You were gone for a year, Flynn. If we wanted to move on without you, we would have. We didn't. We spent every free moment looking for you, and then we found you." Lora kisses his shoulder. "You're home now. You're safe. And you're right where you're wanted."
"Thank you," Flynn chokes. "I'm sorry for what I put you through."
"We know," Alan says. "But we can talk about that later. All that matters right now is that we're together again."
Flynn nods. When he remembers the darkness, he squeezes their hands.
"Do you want some space?" Lora asks gently. Still, Flynn can hear the hesitation there.
"No," he says. "Please. Don't go."
They don't. Lora begins to hum—a Journey song Flynn hasn't heard in far too long—and Alan nuzzles closer. Flynn finally feels himself relax.
Before the song is over, they're all asleep.

Gridpride, week two: Instant Crush / "Who is that?"
Alan has to pull Lora aside. “Who is that?” he asks right next to her ear.
Lora grins as she leans in, too. A necessity in a place as loud and boisterous as an arcade, and especially one run by—“Flynn,” she says. “I told you, Alan. His name’s on the building.”
She watches his eyes widen, sees his gaze go up and down Flynn’s figure. She smiles: she remembers putting on a similar expression when she first met the mysterious, eccentric jock programming at ENCOM. It’s just what he does.
“No,” Alan says. “That can’t be—but he’s—”
“Come on,” Lora says, taking Alan’s hand. “Let me introduce you.”

Thinking about how you can see Flynn’s windbreaker, and how no one cares about this but me.
I don’t know I like the little details of set design like this and how all the spaces feel lived in and you get so much about the character. You can tell Flynn probably went “how cold is it?” And nabbed the jacket off the hook when they left.
You can see the kind of person Alan is with his cubical- he’s got a radio, he’s got Polaroids and posters, plants and a movie quote while simultaneously being organized with his actual work material. He’s a bit of a messy-organized type. There’s a method to the mess,
You can see Lora keeps herself out of her work with how neat her station is, how the second she takes off the hard hat the hard and serious Dr.Baines melts into Lora etc
Idk I just - I love this movie a lot

Oh now you have me curious about your spicy takes! 👀
hooooo boy okay, some of this is about the franchise and some of this is about the fandom (which I love with all my heart okay please no one throw rocks at me lol)
90% of program/user ships give me the ick
continuing on the shipping train of thought, I don't actually find the Encom trio (Alan/Lora/Flynn) all that compelling as an ot3. and a lot of it is a personal pet peeve I've come across in a number of fandoms, but honestly most m/m/f ot3s feel like they're just a way for people to focus on the m/m dynamic while patting themselves on the back for "including" the female character instead of sidelining her completely........ even though said female character is rarely if ever a major contributor to the dynamic or a focus of whatever fanwork. but on a less meta side eye note I just find the perceived sexual component of Alan and Flynn's relationship to be the least compelling thing they could've had going on
and I know she's barely brought up in canon outside of Betrayal but uhm Jordan exists??? and perhaps it is an unpopular opinion but I would like to see more of her in things instead of relying on Lora to be the only human woman in the Tron universe
once again I might not be so harsh on Uprising if there was more to it, but taking it for what it is and how much of it exists -- a lot of the episodes were boring filler to me. also I don't like how they drew Tron
actually I don't like how Tron has been drawn in any rendered/animated media with the exception of maybe Kingdom Hearts
I don't think of Rinzler as a standalone character, and he's not at all interesting to me when removed from the fact that he is Tron with the serial numbers filed off. I feel like I've increasingly seen people portraying Rinzler as his own thing and it simply does not work for me. I think the whole point of his character / existence is that he doesn't have thoughts or feelings or any real personality of his own. he's a backflipping blank slate whose only real character moments are when Tron's overwritten personality peeks through
to that end I can't conceive of an ending where Tron or anyone around him would allow him to remain as Rinzler, and I can't imagine that Rinzler's capable of forming an autonomous opinion to not want to be Tron again
the fandom collective spends too much time talking about how hot the live action and animated men are and not enough time talking about how hot the Sirens are. or how hot Yori is especially in the deleted love scene. or how hot Paige is. or
Daft Punk (rightfully) gets a lot of hype for the Legacy soundtrack, but Wendy Carlos's soundtrack for 82 is unfairly slept on. love that those funky robots got to cameo, but we should be giving Carlos just as much credit for her work
for as much as it pains me to say it, I don't think Tron ever would've been a tentpole franchise for Disney even if they had treated it better. and it's mostly because of the sad fact that the general public has never been that into Tron. I see it tossed around a lot that Disney ditched Tron in favor of focusing on Star Wars and Marvel. A New Hope -- an original sci fi movie that had absolutely no brand recognition, so to speak -- made over $400 million in 1977. the original Tron made $50 million in 82. the first Iron Man movie -- which sure had comic fan recognition but was still a very early comic blockbuster -- in 2008 made over $500 million. Legacy made just over $400 million in 2010. and Disney advertised the shit out of Legacy, they didn't set it up to fail. yes it sucks that things like Uprising were dealt a bad hand (a garbage release schedule that lead to poor viewership that definitely killed the show), yes it sucks that capitalism impacts what art gets made, but the fact of the matter is that Tron has always had niche appeal, and niche appeal does not a successful franchise make. and while it'd be nice to live in the universe where Tron blew up, I look at what's become of Star Wars and Marvel and maybe I don't lament it all that much

Today I learned about the "Knuth reward check", a check with a computer-related amount (usually $2.56), awarded by famed computer scientist Donald Knuth to anyone finding errors in his publications. It's considered a great prize among computer nerds.
I would like to think that at least one of the ENCOM trio would have gotten one at some point. Flynn would probably frame his and hang it on display for everyone to see at the arcade. Alan would probably be a little more humble, maybe sticking it up on the wall of his cubicle? And I think it would be funny if Lora just shrugged and went to cash hers in, to Flynn's and Alan's horror.

Big Butch Talks Movies: Tron: Legacy 2010 (rewatch)
Watched 9/30/23
“Tron: Legacy” directed by Joseph Kosinski
General likes -> The viiiibeee! Soundtrack (Daft Punk y’all killed it), visuals and again, visuals. Yes, this is a movie made in 2010 but I think the action scenes (the lightcycles and disc fighting) hold up especially well. I also thought it was cool they brought back the original actors from the 1982 movie! The end of the line club scene, very iconic very fun.
General dislikes -> The born sexy yesterday trope perfectly exemplified by Olivia Wilde’s Quorra. Also the bananas sexualization of women esp as something apparently rated PG?
Ramble/disorganized thoughts -> Some of the cgi looks . . Iffy so if that kinda thing makes you unable to watch (weak sauce) then ig stay clear my dear. (very much Clu’s face being the biggest offense)
Ending thoughts -> Would I recommend this movie? Sure! It’s nothing deep but if you love a fun aesthetic and daft punk with a sci fi aesthetic, it’s fun.
Detailed synopsis (INCLUDES SPOILERS) -> Do you like seeing ppl do motorcycle stunts, electronic music and monochromatic aesthetics? Then do I have a movie for you. Open on some backstory yadda yadda there’s a tech company and a missing dad, let’s ride some motorcycles and do crime about it ! Cillian Murphy is here too which is fun. Young Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) is not happy about how ENCOM is being ran and trespasses about it, one of his dad’s old friends bails him out of jail so he decides to trespass more and gets downloaded into the Grid, a virtual reality that’s realer than he thinks. Sweeping visuals, fun soundtrack, shallow worldbuilding but at 10 and again at 22 I ate it up so it’s a pretty fun time. He’s captured and sent to the Games where we get introduced to a masked villain Rinzler who beats Ass and makes our hero bleed, outing him as a User (a trait he’s gonna have to be kilt because of) but he is rescued by a disciple of his dad! Quorra! Discs=lives so remember that. Asymmetrical hair they are not playing about the aesthetic people! Anyway, his dad isn’t dead so that’s fun, and they gotta do some adventure. Michael Sheen is here and double crosses our heroes but don’t worry the dad saves ‘em. The dad’s disc gets taken bc of aforementioned double-crossing and turns out Quorra is like . . . Made out of data . . And the last of her kind . . And perfect and beautiful and naive . . So that’s. Great. But whatever, our trio are trying to make sure Clu doesn’t take over the real world and Rinzler remembers he’s Tron and tries to kill Clu but Flynn (Jeff Bridges) (dad) makes his move and reintegrates with Clu and sacrifices himself so Quorra and Sam can live in the real world, first ever Real sunrise end movie.
