How good is super soldier hearing?

Is there a catalogue of times during the war Steve said to the Howlies, “what the hell is that noise?”

They think he's going a bit doo lally but it’s actually that he can hear sounds not normally heard by humans.

So that guy in Paris using a dog whistle that is surprised and a little panicked when Captain America comes running instead.

Or the flutter overhead one dark night in the woods and Gabe realises that Steve can hear the echolocation system noise bats make normally undetectable to humans.

At some point he has to learn how to tune things out because it would have the potential to drive you mad, surely? Being able to hear everything.

Modern day Steve with noise cancelling headphones is a head canon for me. Tony makes special ones just for him and leaves them everywhere so Steve can just grab a pair as needed.

I do sometimes think of the double edged sword that would be having your senses enhanced, especially when beforehand they didn't even work properly.

So from deaf in one ear and colour blind to hearing a pin drop like it's a gunshot and seeing everything in vivid tones must have been a real mind trip for him.

I also think about this - how does he ground himself in that period between getting the serum and being reunited with Bucky? Those USO girls were great and a couple became friends but he suffered a lot because everything was just too much until he had Bucky to focus on. That's a bittersweet one too...

I’m listening to “Rock n Roll is King,” by ELO and it hit me.

Steve and Bucky went straight from swing, big band, and Jazz music to whatever the fuck was happening in 2014 ish. What a shock to the system!!

Who taught them about rock music and Elvis and The Beatles? Who taught them how music changed and shaped the world?

Funny how so many fics and even the MCU itself had things like “Star Wars” and the internet. But what about everything in between? So many culturally significant things happened in that 70 odd years and Star Wars was the best they could do?

I mean I get that the MCU wanted to just quickly throw in stuff for the whole “man out of time thing” without actually dealing with it properly or how it would have affected him mentally.

But when he first meets up with the soon to be Avengers and he hears AC/DC?

Or music in shops or cafes. Sitting and sketching a new modern skyline and he can’t help but listen to some lyrics and it’s rap music or hard rock and he’s like “what did they just say???”

What I really love about Cobra Kai.... is that the creators and actors are so aware of LawRusso, the shippers, the fanfiction.... and they might be 'dude-bros' to some extend and in between I really thought they would put a distance between Johnny and Daniel with Johnny getting the baby plot and Chozen kinda taking his place... BUT... instead of reducing the gay between Johnny and Daniel, though aware how people receive that, they quadrupled down on the gay in the final 5 episodes to the extend of having them HUG IN THE OCEAN AND THEN FALL INTO THE WATER IN EACH OTHERS ARMS OKAY.

They know what they are doing and they give a damn, they go all in.

I mean I thanked Jon Horwitz that Johnny got a husband and he just goes: 'so glad you loved it'

We even get a sushi date in the end!!!!

I don't know about you guys but besides some assholes among the fans who will keep asking 'Why do you draw them always so gay?' .. While I just stick to the source material *shrugs* ... Considering who created this show and for what kind of an audience, originally.... we got a pretty damn good thing. XD

I even remember back in s5 times, I got some hate for an art piece where I made Johnny 'accidentally' call Daniel Bae... and the official Cobra Kai account got my back, telling me they loved my art and fully supported their choice to share it on their account.

I think no matter how the interpretation, everyone is just happy that we all came together to love and celebrate Johnny and Daniel being together forever. Happily ever after!

does anyone else get's bothered by the fact that evotars are called AI's? I mean, from a purely technical standpoint they are. their entire existence relies on operation of the CrossWorlds servers (or, potentially, Instatainment servers in general), their abilities are contained within the game, but, like... doesn't AI usually means "entirely made by x"? like it's an intelligence not because it's borrowed/copied, but because it's created to be intelligent, it's intelligence is artificial, and artificial, al least on our planet, means human made, not human "generated". it's like taking a photo, printing it out and saying that the printed object is entirely man-made, which, i mean, is true, there's a lot of human effort that came into it but in essence, the fact that light bounces off differently from various materials, the way light reacts to lenses with all kinds of properties, the chemistry oh physics that come into play for the image to be captured — these that make the photo possible. real photos aren't machine generated. 'nyways, evotars are digital clones, period

Yup - hating on Steve is wrong. Hating on those of us who could see clear as crystal that his character was assassinated is also wrong.

People can of course think what they like but I truly can’t imagine the dissonance it would take to truly believe what happened in Endgame was what any version of Steve Rogers would ever do.

Watch the three Cap films in isolation with an open mind then try with a straight face to say that him leaving makes any sort of sense. I dare you.

“project promise” the ermine, fully colored and cleaned up! they’re the future’s sorta-successful, sorta-incredibly-disastrous answer to the past’s project shadow. infused with mephiles-enhanced hydrokinesis, they’re the perfect combatant against iblis and other fiery foes. don’t be fooled by her cold exterior though, they’re an awkward, self-important loser with a parasocial inferiority complex against a hedgehog from the 1950s, and always seems to be particularly flustered by the sol dimension’s pyrokinetic princess.

For the ask game: A Damian who never got the sex talk or a consent talk from Bruce (both bc he assumed that Dick, son-wife extraordinaire, would take care of that and bc he thought that Damian would be ace or celibate or something) and so in his teens after only learning about sex from the internet he just becomes like, wildly inappropriate about his crushes, including unfortunately his older siblings, especially Dick, Tim and Cass

This includes not just the bat-typical stalking online and irl, but also making comments on their bodies, flirting excessively, and one notable time, masturbating in the living room of Dick’s apartment

Everyone is torn on how to address it, if they should be saying anything at all, I mean, he’s just going through puberty, it’s just a phase right?

i LOVE it when Damian has like. zero concept of how relationships work and no one thinks to talk to him about it, leading to wildly inappropriate behavior. it's my fave flavor for any Damian ship.

obviously, his first crush is Dick. and because Damian has had such little interaction with healthy romantic relationships, he doesn't even *realize* that's what he's feeling. in concept, he understands sex. but he has a very clinical definition of it, viewing it as coupling to produce an heir. (100% influenced by Ra's) so sex as a pleasurable thing, as something driven by romantic interest, that's foreign to him. he refuses to show weakness and he needs to be hyper-independent, so he falls down a google rabbit hole. i love the idea of Damian accidentally stumbling into like, forums and subreddits based on what he googles that are for people with incestual fantasies and it ends up giving him the WILDLY wrong idea about what's normal. he makes his own account and becomes mildly chronically online about it. at first, it's just a safe outlet for him to vent about his feelings. bc deep down Damian *does* know this is a little wrong and weird, he knows Dick doesn't exactly reciprocate and he understands there's a difference between familial and romantic love. but the more Damian is reading other stories online, the bolder he gets. and he starts getting more open about his attraction.

not only does he get more open about it, but his attraction spreads to Cass and Tim. for Cass, it makes sense. they grew up similarly, if anyone understands the guilt of being raised to be an assassin and now trying to atone for it, it's her. Damian respects her raw ability and naturally it turns into a crush. for Tim, it's harder to explain. he hates Tim with his whole being, doesn't see Tim as his brother. it starts as sexual attraction first, with Tim. for Dick and Cass it was romantic first, but not Tim. watching Tim train shirtless, Damian almost hits himself in the face with the workout equipment he's using. since he's never considered Tim a brother, he's never considered Tim seriously when he's thinking about incestual feelings. it startles him to be attracted to Tim too. honestly? fun concept that Damian gets so in his head with an incest kink that he finally accepts Tim as a brother to him because he's attracted to Tim, therefore this must mean that some part of Damian views him as a brother because Damian has just. entangled those feelings internally.

it's when Damian is attracted to them as well, that they all start to notice. Cass notices first, and she asks Tim about it, since she can tell Damian's feelings are toward Tim and Dick as well. they have a conversation about it and ultimately decide they can't change Damian's feelings, and they don't want to embarrass him about it because he's young and going through puberty. Tim had his own childhood crush on Dick, it happens, he really gets it. they loop Dick in, who is absolutely thrown by the concept. for a while Dick doesn't believe them. he's convinced they're reading into things. until Damian starts getting more bold. going from openly staring that could be interpreted a lot fo ways to excess compliments and flirting. Dick's used to comments about his body, they slide off easily. but when Damian very loudly makes a comment about Tim or Cass' body, Dick balks. he tries to. carefully tell Damian that there are boundaries to certain relationships and he needs to be more respectful. Damian doesn't take it seriously because Dick won't address it head-on and is dancing around the topic. Damian either doesn't think Dick is serious, or he thinks Dick doesn't understand the depth of his emotion outside of sexual desire. so he starts trying to be more romantic. flirting, gifts and gestures. it's very sweet and almost childlike, how hard Damian is trying. Cass thinks it's cute and doesn't mind it. Dick is trying carefully to let Damian down gently. and Tim is just baffled, not really sure what to do with the *very* nice new bo staff Damian got him that's reinforced and admittedly, very well balanced.

Damian gets bolder. his touch lingers, his comments get more sexual. and of course, the breaking point: he jerks off in Dick's living room. he does it when Dick is busy in another room, taking a shower. Dick comes in just as Damian reaches completion, gripping one of the throw pillows on Dick's couch. Dick leaves the room, pretends he didn't see anything and gives Damian the chance to clean himself up. but when he comes in the room, they both know that Dick knows. Dick decides he has to be more firm with his boundaries. he sits down and tells Damian it's okay to have a crush, but this is not okay. Dick repeatedly calls it "puberty" and a "phase", and Damian gets more caught up on Dick denying the realness of his feelings than the rejection. he doubles down, because he perceives the issue as Dick just not understanding how real Damian's feelings are. this isn't some silly teenage phase to Damian, he knows his feelings. obviously, the issue must be that Dick, Tim, and Cass don't understand that. so he does his best to act more like an adult. he's far more reasonable on patrol, he doesn't pick fights, he's independent. all the issues Dick has been having with training Damian suddenly vanish and well. Dick knows why, but he has to admit, it is far easier to work with Damian like this. at this point, Tim just finds the whole thing funny. Cass doesn't enjoy the sexualized comments about her body, she's always been hyperaware of how others will oversexualize her, but she still sees Damian as a young kid and doesn't lash out at him over it. she's dealt with far worse, and she doesn't want to make him feel bad about a crush.

if i were writing this, i think it'd be fun if Damian's feels do eventually fade. he stops going online so much and he gets other things to focus on trying to be a good vigilante and soon his efforts aren't about his feelings, he's just genuinely focused on himself. he grows back and Dick, Tim, and Cass breathe a sigh of relief about it really just being some phase. that is, of course, until someone new joins the Batfam and the cycle starts again. maybe it's Duke, maybe it's someone else like Terry. but at the end of the day, Damian's incest kink wins out and maybe this time, he actually succeeds. he gets his new person of affection to reciprocate with all of the attention he gives them and Dick just has to watch from the background, facepalming. bc at the end of the day, Damian will always get what he wants, sooner or later.

chapter 4 is kinda the "ah there he goes Komaeda is now mean to everyone" chapter but its focus characters are basically the perfect counter to Komaeda's approach to life and death and therefore extremely fitting setup for Komaeda's death the next chapter.

Nidai is, like Komaeda, someone who has a terminal health condition that severely limits what he can achieve compared to most people. But he chooses to live the life he has to the fullest, doing what he can in its duration by being himself to support others. Tanaka is, like Komaeda, someone who is aware of the unfairness of life, that for instance in the wild certain animals must die so others can live. But he knows that even those which die as prey fight as hard as they can before their demise. All three of these characters are aware of how unfair life is and that it may be cut sort at any moment before it comes to fruition. But unlike Komaeda, both Tanaka and Nidai respect the life they're given. Being fated to a stepping stone for another's life, like a mice that gets eaten by a hawk, doesn't mean the mice gives up on its own life; the mice will still fight as hard as it can to live, and will have lived until its death. A human life is no different, it's meant to be lived.

So fitting that it is this chapter in which Komaeda learns the truth and rejects living, his life and everyone elses too, and spends the trial looking down on the class while they internalize Tanaka's message of always walking forward. This is the chapter that could have given him food for thought as to his own situation, but instead because he learns the awful truth he preemptively dismisses everything and rejects the moral of the chapter by rejecting the idea of living and moving forward, leading to him not only throwing away his life but now attempting to kill everyone else too in the next chapter

I often think that poor Bucky when in recovery starts to get very confused cause the memories that are coming back are very much at odds with what everyone around him is telling him.

So I sometimes head cannon a lot of pining cause Steve thinks Bucky doesn't remember and refuses to push him. While Bucky is heartbroken cause he thinks it must be an unrequited love and his memories were just wishful thinking dreams or some such. The angst!

But I love this too. The idea that the first time he hears something about Peggy, his memories of Steve being the best gay to ever gay is so strong he literally just bursts out laughing!

Steve theory of the week is that when Steve came out of the ice he had no fucking idea homosexuality was decriminalized so he was still actively closeting and when he’d get sad and forlorn about his lost love (or just being mopey and sad about the whole “I just came out of the ice after 70 years and everyone I knew and loved is dead” thing, the avengers assumed was him being sad and forlorn about his lost love) the avengers assumed it was Peggy. Right? Who else would it be? So the first time Tony is like hey, buddy, I know it’s gotta be hard, you gotta miss her like crazy, right? The lightbulb goes off in Steve’s brain that A) he was just handed an easy beard AND an excuse to why he doesn’t date of ‘oh I just am so in love with my 90 year old ex girlfriend’ but B) oh my god if I just swap the names I can be sad about Bucky out loud and have an outlet for my moping.

So Steve actually gets comfortable talking about Bucky as ‘Peggy’ for a couple years. Then the day marriage equality passed Steve was confronted with the fact that it was okay to be gay now and he kinda dug himself this hole… but he just stayed in it bc it was easier. And he missed Bucky.

And then Bucky comes back and it takes a long time to make Bucky a functional person again and eventually HE finds out about the ‘Steve’s great love Peggy’ thing and he’s like??? Steve what the fuck is this? Your gay ass? And Steve has to embarrassedly explain that this was the hole he dug himself and Bucky thinks it’s absolutely hilarious, much to Steve’s distress.

It's been more than 20 years and for some reason I feel that Gosho hasn't given Kaiao any development, how can more than 20 years pass and Aoko dynamics, relationship and feelings remain the same? At this point I feel like Gosho is just going to make them date because "they already liked each other" they remain in the same status quo

Hey, if we go by DC romance progress, they've been going too fast. We've already had suspicion of identity chapters, and that didn't happen until more than 400 chapters in DC. /j

Since heists have taken over any character development recently, I don't even know if Kaito and Aoko will even get any romantic progress. Maybe the actual identity confrontation will happen down the line, since that's thief drama, but atm, it really wouldn't surprise me if they only ask each other on a real date at the very end of the manga.

Like. I'm sure Gosho would love to make MK a love drama as well, but he writes MK so rarely, and usually as hype for something Kid related in other media. So the MK stories tend to be heavy on drama that can only take place at Kid heists. (To the point that the new chapters just. Use Kid as the plot device to show off a new character. Even Hakuba's never gotten so much 'look at this character being a detective' treatment in MK.)

-sighs- I just feel bad for MK as a series at this point. I like the characters, I like the general story idea, but. It's been going down a very steep hill with Gosho wanting things exciting, but not wanting any real progress in. Anything. But unlike old MK, the new stories aren't even nice standalone setpieces of story, they're... mundane. They could be high stakes, if you purely look at the scenarios on paper, but. We all know nothing's gonna happen to Kid. Nothing even happens to him when the actual bad guys show up, much less one-time antagonists.

We need actual character focus and development, not heist drama. Badly. Not even romance, though that'd be a nice change. Just any character expansion of our limited cast of characters. Gosho wants big, all the time, meaningless big stuff, when small would be so nice.
