I’m a bit nervous about sending an ask, but the curiosity has won me over, hope this isn’t too many questions

You said you headcannon Leo Valdez as dragon kin so I was wondering, do you think he has shifts often, if at all? If so, does he generally have some types of shifts more often or is it more balanced? And do the other campers and the seven know? If they do, did he tell them or did they piece it together on their own? If he told them, did he have to explain a lot or were they kind of just like “okay” and didn’t question it a lot? Like they just accepted it and didn’t want to overstep or something is what I mean

I think his most usual shifts would be teeth/scales, but they're a lot more subtle so he either doesn't notice them as much or can ignore them. Those ones are probably semi-regular for him but again, more subtle most of the time (most of the time... every once in awhile he gets hit with a stronger maw shift and he's just sitting there gnashing his teeth at the air for like an hour cause his mouth feels weird until it goes away). Maybe also horns.

Less common ones for him but ones he'd notice more are probably wings, tail, and talons. Talons i mostly just think would be funny for him cause he has his habit of tapping his fingers as a stim. Him getting tripped up from the phantom talons while trying to stim, being confused for a minute about why his fingers aren't touching the table and he just ends up tapping out morse code into the air a couple inches above his desk instead. Wings and tail would probably just be pretty standard phantom limbs - they're just there and he's aware of them and maybe able to move them a bit. I imagine he'd eventually try to make some 'kin gear to help with those shifts specifically just so his brain stops error 404ing when his dragon limbs pass through solid objects despite his brain thinking they should be able to tangibly interact.

I don't think Leo would know what otherkin/alterhuman is when he first meets the Argo II crew, and probably wouldn't get the opportunity to learn about it for awhile. He doesn't really have the vocabulary to explain how he's feeling - just that he Is A Dragon. The rest of the crew probably also doesn't know what otherkin/alterhuman is either so they don't have an explanation for him, but, yknow, demigod life is already so goddamn weird, if Leo says he's a dragon that's not the most abnormal thing they've heard that week and they'll just take his word for it and accept it. And Jason probably understands the feeling re: being a wolf therian, even though he doesn't have the vocabulary to explain it either, so there's at least some solidarity there.

Earlier on I think Leo would just crack a lot of jokes about being a dragon, not particularly explaining how he feels about it to the others but just kind of putting the concept out there. He might try to explain it if the topic comes up but, as mentioned before, just struggle too much to try and find the words for it (the adhd/dyslexia/autism wording problems do not help there). I do like to think though that, due to their Hades/Pluto kid soul powers, Nico and Hazel would actually be able to pick up on spiritual-origin otherkin/therians/etc if they focused on it - Nico in particular, probably a lot more passively - and be able to kind of see phantom limbs/shifts sometimes (cause goodness knows how souls/spirit stuff works in the Riordanverse and I can have my self-indulgent silly alterhuman worldbuilding hcs if i want to - also at least partially inspired by some journal posts i've read of people mentioning people/animals/automatic doors picking up on their phantom limbs and being able to track the movement and stuff. if any demigod would be able to do that it's gonna be the kids with literal soul/phantom powers). I just find the concept amusing of Leo trying to explain this extremely metaphysical experience and Nico's just off to the side like "Oh yeah no, your soul is a dragon. Like, very literally. Dunno how that happened but good for you. btw why do you have ghost wings sometimes?" And Leo's grateful for someone helping him explain it but also isn't sure how he should react to statement. Eventually though one of the crew stumbles across alterhuman stuff - probably Leo or Annabeth, most likely accidentally through looking into daemonism stuff (you know they both read His Dark Materials) - and they put two and two together and finally have a means to explain it and Leo could not be more relieved (though he still doesn't know how to feel about Nico's soul comments).

Intense gen show with probably a lot of interesting dynamic, I wonder if it's the same team with HS, but we still need HS2. Happy to see everyone together being badass or pathetic in fights; also it's based on Korean story! which means the plot might be great We are - have no idea what's the plot but engineers! and all the cute couples, so many side couples that i'm fond of are here! hopefully lots of bickering and group scenes, might be more watchable than msp to me also pawin<3

Ploy's Yearbook - sounds confusing and also weird with Earth wearing high school outfit after so many Old Man Roles but something intrigued me here (probably Jimmy, Aye and Mond<;3) My Precious - i like the actors and i just need the weird gang to have a good story or at least chemistry between everyone for me to watch this My Love Mix-Up! - somehow of course GeminiFourth got this role but i wish they got something more serious like MLC; also Kieta Hatsukoi was too legendary so i'm scared. and i read that Ida is demi and somehow i never realized it?? what tell me more; but also that warm atmosphere and comedy would be really hard to recreate... My Golden Blood* - i always love a good intense supernatural story, even with mock trailer giving a lot of teen wolf vibes; also Mond playing villains is always gorgeous! I liked Joss in 3wbf and Gawin in BMF but not to the point where I can imagine similar type of actors together in a BL and having good chemistry... we'll see

The Interest* - the concept is interesting but the dynamics are hmm, if they can pull off debt collector/person in debt as great as in Mama Gogo, i will definitely be watching, but grunge bloody setting feels tasty Kidnap* - again, not sure what's the dynamic between Ohm and his co-actor is supposed to be, to me it feels like HCTM as in not enough chemistry to me; but I'm always here for fights, gangs, underground and bloody setting and Papang with a gun<3 also it seems like Title might play a bad guy again, poor actor Wandee Goodday - I am so struggling because this is a series done by The Eclipse team and I know how well they work and how deep they can make a story, but also i'm not a fun of adult comedy like this and plot/chemistry doesn't catch me; but also there's drake and ploy!!<3 very conflicting feelings Summer Night - honestly, also have no idea what's going on but it's based on a webtoon and the actors clearly have fun * - I like the concept/setting outside of the actors playing in it

What I like: more stories based on good Korean sources (I think I can even be on board with Semantic error remake) because Korean dramas do complex characters and intense plot very well; GL looks more promising than most of the series; also promising found families and friendship groups; Louis is in a boygroup dancing and Mond being villain and Aye with Jan and View rocking their roles and Pawin being cute and Papang being in several places again

What I don't like: No First, no Khaotung, no Drake, no Sing, no AJ, no Krist, no Neo, no Dew, no Louis -- and I mean that it ranges from 0 to 'somewhere on the background in a small role' which is not enough to me :((( Come on, I know FirstKhao and Krist are busy currently and OhmNanon is nowhere to be found anymore, but Drake is constantly giving everyone performances! Papang and Mond too! And GMM keeps forgetting that they have actual twins that can act really well! Just let them all have proper BL roles or become important characters aaaaahhhhhhhhh i can't suffer for so long Also GMM resorted to the typical settings that work and remakes; I wish we'd get something fresh and intriguing. But I guess we'll have to wait until Part 2 when Jojo comes from break and we get that Aof rom-com with FirstKhaotung xD

But also I'm still waiting for Last Twilight and 23.5 and finally made my mind to watch The Warp Effect so I'm going to have a food on the table, hopefully:D

Cross booed and threw a piece of popcorn at the TV. “Bring Undernovella back, you whores!”

Hunter shifted in his blanket nest on the arm chair. He’d wanted to join them on the couch, but they’d refused. Now, he seemed much more interested in the TV. He was probably curious about their version of Dream.

Dream was standing at his little podium that he was usually at during big press conferences, or the rare emergency news. The alarming lack of reporters in the room indicated that this was an emergency.

Cross and Error quickly came to the same conclusion, and soon all four of them were sat forward and watching anxiously.

Dream’s voice came through the surround sound speakers clearly, and after a quick, formal greeting to the masses, he got straight to the point.

“A few days ago, JR was made aware of the existence of another multiverse-” The Meme Squad looked over at Hunter. Hunter looked back at them. They all snickered.

“-by the very violent and bloody entrance of three people from it.”

The laughter stopped suddenly, and the Meme Squad immediately turned their attention back to the TV. An image popped up on the screen. It was a single frame of a security camera video. Most of the room was blurred out, but the three people in the middle of the frame were very clear. And the large, dark red splatters around the room, even blurred, were definitely blood.

“These three have been identified as alternate versions of the Meme Squad-“ The image split into three, and zoomed in on the three’s faces.

Nightmare’s alternate had a sharp, piercing look in his eyes, blood on his chin, and a sadistic grin. Cross’ looked like a slasher movie villainess already, even without all the scars and the blood across her face. The other Error was much less bloodied, but looked no less innocent. Something in her eyes made her look just as deranged as the other two.

“They have been given code names, to distinguish between them and this multiverse’ version of the Meme Squad.”

Three names popped up under the alternates’ images. Nightmare’s alternate was ‘Pluto’, Cross’ was ‘Slash’, and Error’s was ‘Byte.’

“I cannot emphasize enough how dangerous these three are,” Dream continued, his tone shifting to urgency. “They already have a body count over twenty, and that’s only the murders known to us. They are experts of disguise, and stealth. Do not attempt to approach them, and do not go anywhere alone. It’s highly unlikely they will separate. If you see them, call the emergency JR hotline immediately. They are officially JR’s highest priority, and we will do our absolute best to apprehend them and deal with them, as swiftly as possible. We do not know where they may be, but we have some suspicions that they will be looking for the Meme Squad, though their exact motives for this are unknown.”

Oh. Oh no.

Error pulled the blanket around herself more. Cross just stared at the screen. A horrible thought slowly rose in Nightmare’s mind, and he began to feel sick.

Dream continued on, just running through some ways to try to stay safe, and reminding everyone what the emergency JR hotline even was. Error finally just grabbed the remote and turned it off.

“…Hey…what are the chances of them pretending to be us?” Nightmare wondered. “Since…they’ll probably hear about that broadcast really quickly, if they didn’t get to watch it right away.”

“I don’t think they’d do that,” Hunter chirped. He seemed to be in disturbingly high spirits. “It wouldn’t be any fun for them, then, and they usually don’t like it when other people are given credit for what they did.” He re-adjusted the blanket on his lap, calm as ever. “They might disguise themselves as you guys to go around easier, but they won’t try to frame you for anything, I don’t think.”

Nightmare stared at him. “You don’t think.” He repeated. “Well, that sure makes me feel safe.”

Hunter giggled. “I’m sure it’ll be fine!”

They didn’t feel like it would be fine.

ISWM Secret Website Hidden Messages

okay so the title might be a little misleading because they’re not exactly hidden, per se, especially if you know to look at it. but. i just wanted to point out something fun.

as we all know, most links on the Case Directory page lead to a 404 Error Page (except for “Invincible Syndicate, The”, which leads to the page for Invincible 2, and “Man, Drowned”, which leads to chapter 1 of The Drowned Man documentary mark made on his channel, specifically jumping to a timestamp where mark says, “Despite all the weirdness, this seems fairly normal.”) however, each link still has a web address, which are still unique to each link despite seemingly leading to the same page. very clever!

(sidenote, this page confirms that the codes i solved are all Correct. hah!!! tho, the “g” on the list is in lowercase. i wonder if that was a typo or if it’s on purpose.)

for most of the links, the web address just follows the format of “www.universalstabilityagency.space/[insert link name here]”, which is fairly standard. let’s call this the normal web address. for example, the web address for the link labeled:

VLD1x01 – “The New Alliance”

1x01 – “The New Alliance”

I love that we start on Kerberos. Not on Earth, not on Earth’s moon, not on Mars, not on a moon of Jupiter, but on Kerberos, moon of Pluto. Selecting that location immediately begins the work of world-building. We’re still local and technologically limited enough to be within Earth’s solar system, but the technology to send a manned mission there gives a sense of when this story is taking place compared to our own time now. It doesn’t have to label the time setting of this story with a year; the scope of the Kerberos mission allows us to adjust the when in our construction of the story in our minds.

Shiro’s first words: “You guys get a little more excited about ice samples than I do.” These words in this exchange gives us some characterization right away. Shiro’s not the main science guy. That direct, immediate pursuit of knowledge is not his goal, but he is there with the main science guys, helping them in the process. Shiro is thus revealed to be a team-focused person. And when the Galra attack, Shiro is the one to order them to run. He wants to protect his team.

And then we get the one-year-later time jump and a narrative trick to make us think we’re again at Kerberos, but it’s just a training simulation. We’re introduced to three more main characters: Lance, Hunk, and Pidge. Of the three, Lance is in the position of leadership, he’s cocky, and he prides himself as a pilot (though he’s got some room for improvement). Hunk and Pidge are both far less driven in the session. Hunk more seems like he’s part of the Galaxy Garrison because… I honestly don’t know why. Pidge we learn has specific personal goals. Lance seems like the only one of the three who actually is excited to be part of the GG.

We get the ruse that Pidge is male. We get the lie from the GG that Shiro’s Kerberos mission resulted in the deaths of him and the Holts due to pilot error. We’re told that the only reason Lance is in the pilot program is because Keith was a discipline problem and flunked out.

Lance drags Hunk with him to try to hook up with Pidge for some “team bonding.” I really miss this Lance. His interest in unit cohesion here feels parallel to Shiro.

Pidge is super into technology. Lance demonstrates the capability of insight by recognizing that Kerberos bothers Pidge, and Pidge shows us that she knows the GG has lied. She’s picked up an alien broadcast about Voltron. Enter Shiro’s return in an alien ship.

“And who the heck is she,” Lance says upon seeing some GG woman at the crash site. Until the infamous epilog that was slapped onto the end of the series finale, the show acted like it was absurd to want to see anything other than the barest of hints that Shiro was gay. The show, starting here with Lance in the first episode, never had a problem putting heterosexuality plain and clear in the story. Such blatant privilege must be nice.

Our team of three starts working together to find out about the crash. Lance drives the team, Pidge provides technical support, and Hunk is there with them. We find out Shiro is alive and trying to warn Earth of the Galra. Shiro is still the protector. We find out his arm’s been replaced with a cyborg prosthetic – man, I miss this arm. And then in comes Keith, shown in his introduction to be a man of action, to be intelligent in setting his distraction. Lance reveals how he, at least, has long felt a sense of competition with Keith, recognizing Keith on-sight; however, Keith barely remembers Lance.

Every character introduced feels distinct. The have different personalities, interests, goals. It’s easy to begin to imagine the show will give deep development of the differing intersections between these characters (of course, the show sadly fails to do so).

We learn that Keith has been investigating what eventually becomes revealed to be the Blue Lion hidden on Earth. The details of his investigation are kind of glossed over, but it doesn’t feel like we’re losing much by not having those details. (Also, I love that we’ll eventually find out that the clothes Shiro wears, given to him here by Keith, used to belong to Keith’s father.)

We get some revelation that Hunk is an intelligent guy, even if he isn’t personally adventurous. He’s got some significant boundary issues though, going through Pidge’s bag without an okay.

The Blue Lion grants access only after Lance requests it with his knock, and then it psychically, subtly prompts Lance forward in becoming its pilot. Lance responds by following his adventuresome personality into the cockpit. Again, I really miss this Lance. He’s not the best skilled, but he loves what he does. He’s happy.

Our team heads off Earth and confronts the Galra ship. The villainy of Galra is color-coded; the antagonists are very purple. Fictional culture really shouldn’t be monochromatic like it is here. The Blue Lion easily puts some hurt on the Galra, but the Galra recover and pursue. The Star Trek-style warp star-streaks are pretty, but we’re only travelling between Earth and Kerberos, so they’re not traveling far enough for any stars to streak. While that imagery doesn’t work for me, I do like seeing them pass by Kerberos again though.

And then the wormhole.

“Shiro, you’re the senior officer here. What should we do?” Lance says. I love this moment! The voice acting for Lance is fantastic. The way he softens his voice, especially now following his louder, boastful voice from the past few minutes is a great contrast. How Lance responds reveals he might be a bit on the wilder side, but he is capable of discipline. Again, he demonstrates the importance of the team and how everyone has a role. He defers to Shiro, placing Shiro as the leader of this team of five, by asking for orders. Shiro assesses the situation and says they should trust the Blue Lion, but also, unspoken, the decision is also one about trusting Lance since he’s the one who can sense the Blue Lion.

I love the music here at the end when they blast off toward the planet. There’s something oddly nostalgic to me about the music of the end of this scene. Something wistful. There’s almost a tangible desire, a yearning in it. It’s not bombastic, but instead is reserved. The episode’s end successfully makes me want to see more.

After some experimentation, I figured out that the Hell Metall DX's in Pluto's stage in Mega Man V for GB are vulnerable to regular charged shots, but only while it's shooting at you, which is telegraphed by a little shooter at the top that disappears for a grand total of 4 frames, which is 67 milliseconds. That sounds like a coding error; I can't imagine that was intended.
