Anne of a Green Gables/Buddie au is finished, complete, done!! Didn’t think I’d ever get there but I have and now I present to you another epically long niche AU. Inspired this time by the ever lovely @lonelychicago quite a long time ago now.

It’s sweet and soft with fire family feels, love and hope, a bit of humor, a drop of angst and general pining. Here in AU land everyone lives and happily ever after is the way we roll. Give it a go 😉

Evan Buckley has lived in orphanages almost longer than he can remember. They tried to find a place for him more than once but it never quite worked out, now at almost 15 he’s given up hope of finding a home but then a letter arrived from Prince Edward’s Island saying that Mr & Mrs Robert Nash wanted a boy to come live with them.

Now he’s on his way to a new life in a place called Avonlea and he couldn’t be happier.

The white blossoms on the tree on the other side of the train tracks are beautiful. They remind him of the trees that used to be at the bottom of their street before things went wrong and his parents decided to send him and Maddie away.

Buck hasn’t seen his sister in a long long time. He still thinks about her, looks for signs of her in the reflection of his own face. The only friendly face he’s seen for years now.

He’s honestly happier than he ever dreamed possible and on top of that there are adventures to be had everywhere. He’s had a few already and only a few of them have led to … difficulties; the tree was a mistake he can admit that now. It’s actually quite surprising how breakable branches can be and how much a few cuts on the head can bleed and is it really his fault if making birdhouses is a lot harder than you’d think and that the trajectory of hammers, even small ones, is surprisingly unpredictable.

I have no idea what’s going on but this has brought me such joy 🥲 His train of thought is such a majestic thing to behold. Thank you, Spotty, for blessing my inbox today

Still thinking about those like 2 lines about Chris' favorite shirt. They say so much in so little time

Chris misses LA. He's talking to Eddie and not his grandparents about it

Eddie and Chris are talking enough that Eddie knew it was missing in the first place

Proof of Eddie being able to provide what his parents can't

Further solidifies Buck's spot in the dynamic as Eddie's co-parent and that he can help Chris too

Favorite shirt = comfort. Chris is still looking to Eddie for comfort and Eddie can provide

Buck tells Eddie to tell Chris he was the one who found it -> he misses Chris and please let Chris know that

The first thing Buck does when Eddie’s back in LA is demand that Ravi go get a drink with them. It’s Ravi’s fault for saying yes because now Buck’s trying to talk him into shimming a lock open on a door and like, “Why can’t you do it?”

“Buck can’t,” Eddie tells him. “Every time he does something he’s not supposed to Athena shows up.”

Buck nods solemnly, “Every time.”
