When regulus was little he could not pronounce his Rs and had a slight stutter. Walburga did not ever comment on it but Regulus felt she hated that he could not speak the same as his brother so he stayed quiet almost all of the time.

Of course, as he got older he worked on his pronunciation but he never grew out of being silent. But just as when he was little, he would talk Sirius' ears off.

(James and all of Regulus' friends think his stutter is adorable but they never mentions it because he knows Regulus hates it) (When he is talking and stutters or mispronounces anything he will just shut up until he feels like he can talk again)

AU where Regulus animagus is a black cat, he starts to hang out in the Gryffindor common room to stalk James (yes, he is a little crazy like this) and obviously James is smitten with the kitten, he picks him up all the time, he pets it and give him endless kisses and treats.

One day, Regulus gets bold and ends up in the marauders room, specifically on James' bed, snuggling in his clothes. James is so happy and proud that the cute cat chose him and starts telling everyone about it.

The rumours get to the Slytherins, and Barty and Evan tease Regulus so much that he stops going to the Gryffindor common room.

Later that same year, Regulus and James began to start seeing each other, and at one point, James tells Reg that he is an animagus and (to make himself more interesting) tells him how difficult it is to become one and brag about it so much that Regulus just rolls his eyes and transform himself right in front of James.

Needless to say that James easily connects that Regulus is the black kitten that loved to snuggle next to him.

They get together not long after that.

It's very interesting that all we know about Regulus is that he was a death eater and tried to destroy a horrocrux. Those two things make for a super interesting and complex character.

Did he become a death eater already planning on defeating Voldemort? Did he believe everything until he was inside and saw what was really happening? That was a 16-17yo boy doing all of that without help? Or did he have someone to confide in?

Did he do it for himself? For his friends? For Sirius?

Regulus who used the water like an escape, who felt calmer in oceans and lakes than he did on land.

Regulus, who loved the peace the weightlessness brought him.

Regulus, who was so used to fucking up at everything as a kid and finding the ONE thing he was incredible at.

Regulus was thin and strong and had lungs of steel and he could have been an incredibly talented swimmer.

And that love was the very thing that killed him.

Can you imagine how furious Sirius would be?

How angry and full of rage he would be at the fact that his brother, the one who always beat him during laps around the pool and used to use the lake as an escape had drowned.

Yes, Regulus not being able to swim is funny.
