what would you like to see in a revival? or what do you think is more likely to happen plot-wise?

personally i would want the revival to ignore the s15 finale like it never happened and pick up after 15x18, but better. aka dean doesnt die, they find/save cas, and jack isnt God. billie and amara get a better endings. eileen appearance. aka a short mini-series that finishes the show better (how I WANT IT). but most likely, i think the potential revival will be a continuation of the end of the winchesters.

i only watched the last 3 or 4 episodes of the winchesters. my friend and i were curious wtf was happening when it we found out it wasnt a prequel but a sequel. for those who didnt keep up with it, the winchesters is about a different universe john and mary. they arent OUR dean's john and mary.

the winchesters takes place after dean died but before sam dies and goes to heaven. dean escaped/left heaven to explore the multiverse (his motivations for this could be explored in the revival) and he found this type of monster, the akrida. this is from the spnwiki "The Akrida are a species of monster not from Earth who have tried to invade multiple times in the past. According to Dean Winchester, they are a threat to all of existence. They were created by God as a failsafe to destroy existence in case he failed in his own efforts"

in one of the last scenes of the winchesters, dean meets mary and john (+friends) form this other universe. when they ask how he traveled between universes (from spn wiki) "Dean explains that he was looking for his family and that he comes from a long line of hunters, and he was hoping that somewhere out there was an Earth that had a version where Dean's family had a shot at a happy ending."

i dont give a fuck about the akrida or alternate universe mary and john, but what i DO find interesting is the concept that dean cant rest even in heaven. that he is "looking for his family." well we know from bobby in 15x20, john and mary are in heaven. jsut down the road from dean... so. what OTHER family could dean be talking about. besides sam who is ALIVE on earth... Cas... i mean this is MY interpretation. obviously. bc cas was not even mentioned in the winchesters. bobbby and jack, dean's bobby and jack were in the show. and sam was mentioned (dean explaining to bobby and jack why he had to meddle in the multiverse was to stop the akrida bc he didnt want them to hurt their universe's sam and the life he is building). when i watched the winchester's finale, i was waiting for just ONE cas mention but... none. of course. which like... crazy. like SO funny. bc of course. of course cas' son can be in the show. but cas cant even be mentioned.

i choose to believe (bc i am destiel forever) that dean was looking for a way to get cas out of the empty. that there is some spell, some ingredient he is searching for. and then he ended up finding the akrida and had to stop them from destroying the multiverse..

anyways back to the winchesters' finale. (from spn wiki) "Jack reprimands Dean for his actions, reminding Dean that when Jack restored everything, he wanted mankind to make their own fate which means no interference from on high anywhere with no exceptions. Dean insists that he couldn't let their world get destroyed, especially since Sam is still alive and he deserves a good long life as does the Monster Club. Dean tells a visibly conflicted Jack that he can cast Dean out of Heaven for his actions if he wants to while Bobby votes that Jack gives Dean another chance. Conceding the point, Jack notes that there's always another case for hunters, even in death. Handing Dean something, Jack tells him to finish what he started if Dean's going to meddle in things and that 'after this… it's time to get around to the "there'll be peace when you are done" part of the song.'"

in MY opinion, this jack is corrupted by chuck. in this scene, jack is wearing this all white outfit and is acting not like jack at all. i have no clue if the show meant for him to come across that way, but corrupted by chuck!jack is SO interesting to me. like dean escaped heaven once he realized jack DIDNT bring cas back, so he found some sort of spell to bring cas back/defeat chuck!jack. but he needs ingredients from other universes. dean is on the run from chuck!jack. meanwhile, bobby is scared of jack's power, he thinks dean needs to be careful bc it isnt the jack dean remembers. dean KNOWS that. he knows HIS jack would never leave cas in the empty. thats why dean HAS to find a way to stop chuck!jack and bring cas back.

so my ideal future revival plot based on that concept from the winchesters' finale. dean is back in heaven and on heavier lock down from chuck!jack and his new angels. dean is at least grateful he stopped the akrida and sam is safe on earth, but he still needs to take down chuck!jack and get cas back. so the main plot is dean sneaking around heaven trying to find places to get ingredients in heaven. chuck!jack makes appearances and is still pretending to be jack, but it is established in the pilot that it isnt jack but chuck pretending to be jack. so each episode would be dean finding more ingredients and running into past characters in heaven aka charlie, jo, ash, kevin, and more and telling them about whats happening and they get on board with helping in their own ways.. and for #destiel, every time dean explains the chuck!jack situation and getting cas back.. the drama, the pining, the lovesickness from dean wanting cas back. that cas, the stupid idiot, didnt let dean respond. that the asshole cant tell dean that cas cant have dean, when he has had dean the whole time.. basically lots of dean mentioning lines from the confession but never quite saying i love cas... but yes he does. dean to charlie: and then he says "the one thing i cant have." what a fucking asshole, i hate him so much. charlie voice: so you love him back? dean: i am going to punch him in the face

and near the climax of this plot, dean would have to confront john. and therefore mary too... very interesting juicy stuff to go into there but i feel my post is too long.

BUT WAIT, the cas of it all. cas sideplot of course. he is in the empty and trying to get out bc he heard rumors that jack is being possessed by chuck, and dean is dead. so billie and a lot of other demons and angel characters have their episodes too. mirroring dean and dead friends of his in heaven... bobby is one of the main characters in the heaven plot and billie/crowley are the main characters of the empty plot.

also, i havent really thought too much of sams part in this, but he would have a hell subplot with rowena. and eileen is there. (no blurry wife or kid for sam. thats just deleted from canon).

i just think it would be interesting to have the leads in heaven, earth/hell, and the empty all trying to take down chuck, but they arent working together due to restrictions between the places. heaven is on lockdown after the winchesters finale. the empty is well... the empty. earth and hell are the only ones that are free travel (thanks rowena). also, i feel like it would be soo awesome if Sam (with rowena and eileen) is the one to help free cas and crew from empty. bc 1. dean would feel guilty it wasnt him. (dean would save cas in another way near the finale so we still get the parallel of how they met). 2. rowena and crowley reunite. 3. billie and rowena <3 and so much more that is coming to me just while writing this down.. i think... trying to write a fic of this would be so fun. so i am going to save all my other thoughts of this story.

SO tldr i guess; if you are choosing to have a positive interpretation of the ending of the winchesters. it can be very interesting, and i like to think about future revival plots based on the winchesters' finale bc i think its fun to speculate with the concepts that show introduced. i dont think it would ever happen the way i imagine it would. so this is all for fun. and even if the basics of the plot were in the unconfirmed spn revival, i knowit would NOT be close to what i want... but thats what fanfic is for, and also spn revival truthing is so enriching...

i have never written my thoughts about this down even though i think about it a lot. writing it all down just made more and more ideas come to me about the plot, so maybe i should just start to write my own fic of it ... confirmed destielgaysex fanfic instead of just keeping his ideas in his head forever? confirmed ro writing something down instead of thinking about them? maybe coming soon... who knows. i have so many fic ideas in my head.. like the season 6 au.. the s8 au... the s12 au... literally so many ... maybe one day...

It is actually so naive of eluciens and gwynriels to think the bracket thing is just a popularity competition. As if it isn't a marketing ploy. As if BB themselves didn't obviously have a hand in what moments were selected. As if they didn't design the pairs to be beneficial to their pr and marketing strategies. We're talking a whole ass industry running on more money than any of us could grasp. They don't mess around to please raging fans when they have a business to run and casual readers to capitalize off of (no shade, we get our books, they get their money). And yet I only ever see Elriels even talk about publishing as an actual industry.

The antis should seriously just think about it for a second.

AS IF Blooomsbury would let Lucien be absent from that bracket thing if he is to be the next MMC. AS IF they would set Gwyn up against an iconic Feyre moment and doom her to fail, if she was to be the next FMC. AS IF they would include not one but two Elriel moments (yes, I think both are Elriel moments because they chose to explicitly mention TT in the Elain moment), and put them up against each other to make sure it moves on to the next round. As if they'd do that if Elriel was an "ended ship", not relevant for the future plot. And right before we are likely to get an announcement. To do all this and then pivot to Elucien or Gwynriel, is  incompetent marketing. It would never happen. The idea is laughable.

This isn't fan service. It's marketing, cheekily framed as a fan service event, ahead of an anniversary and an announcement of a huge release. But anyone can see that this is carefully orchestrated. It HAS to be, because publishing is an industry. Its orchestrated, and not in a nefarious way. Just in a perfectly normal standard for the industry type way.

Seriously, I've had quite a low opinion of BB given how they have handled Acotar the past four years. But this? Top teir marketing. Chaotic, to the point, no mercy for the small but screeching crowd of antis. Just ignoring them, dropping casual truth bombs about Elain. Whoever came up with this? Mad respect. Give them a raise.

And antis? Are antis really this naive? Or are they just holding on to a fantasy for dear life?

idfk atp. Its so obvious its a marketing stragety to bring engagement to their page and allow acotar to reenter the romantasy audience all before the big ACO10. BB had full control over what enters the brackets, some where fan submissions other selections where always going to make it. BB has a very a good idea of which moments are going to win each round and what type of narrative they’re creating. They do not gaf about catering to any fans. Right now their main priority is bracing the fandom for aco10. BB aren’t stupid. They know which topic is running hot in the fandom and what their readers are expecting.

Lucien didn’t make it into the brackets at all…it says a LOT about 1) how little the fandom cares about him aka he’s become irrelevant to the main fandom 2) BB haven’t prioritised him as important…hypothetically if an elucien book is next - by not including Lucien, they’ve just shown us he isnt that important RIGHT NOW. Yes Gwyn made it into the bracket but we all know how many people and which people voted for Gwyn moments- it would be to obvious that this is all calculated if Gwyn wasn’t included regardless…she was put up against a very iconic feyre moment. BB did it on purpose. Gwyn had no chance of making it and look - her scene is out. She’s gone…for a gwynriel book being next again this isnt a good look.

An Elain AND an elriel moment made it through. BB intentionally set them up against each other…why? Because 100% one scene will make it through. They even have a chance of beating the next few scenes. For an elriel book being next - this is very interesting and telling. Its bringing focus to Elain and elriel. AND both moments had TT which we know for sure will play a role in acotar 5 due to HOFAS.

it IS marketing. Its reminding old readers of acotar, convincing new readers of acotar and making the fandom active - with many people constantly visiting BB’s page. They’ve been very active and its not a coincidence that the last few months many big outlets are talking about acotar - all of this is building up towards aco10. Their big event. And you’re right - it is all orchestrated. Sarah is aware to an extent of whats happening and what her publishers are doing. The book is probably ready to be announced.

BB has been ruthless towards antis. They haven’t interacted or given in to the antis that where whining about elain killing hybern not being canon - ruining the event for everyone else - instead just ignored them which goes to show how irrelevant these people are. People aren’t going to believe a random account with a few thousand brought followers over the actual PUBLISHERS of the series whose reach is in the Ks. Its a slap in the face for antis, putting them back down into their positions. Reminding them, they’re nothing compared to the publishers of the series. The ones that have the final say and know what’s happening.

You know what I think? I think some antis are beginning to realise they’re wrong. They can’t jusyify everything - and this is making them insecure which they take out by being bitter towards elriel. now i wont pretend to know whats going on with the timeline in milgram. like haruka being born 1997 but being younger than yuno who is a 2004 baby ? My assumption would be that milgram isnt linked to a specific time, its something else entirely, which i think fits with everyones confusion and disorientation about how they got there.

But i will say one thing! A bunch of you are always saying "well Milgram started in 2020 so we can assume its set in 2020" no we can't we literally can't. Things can be set in other years than the one they're published in. come on. Also Milgram seems to be a timeless space in some ways... I don't really know what's the deal with the birthday timelines and how canon those are, but a lot of ongoing media will have characters have birthdays/birthday events but they don't actually get older in the real story (enstars timeloop theory anyone ?) so while a lot of the birthday convos line up with whats happening in milgram at the time... im not so sure that means its 1 to 1 chronologically with our world. I feel like Es or Jackalope or the prisoners would have mentioned it if they'd really spent years in milgram. Plus the amount of time between trials doesn't seem to be as long in the series as it is for us, or else a lot more would have happened.

One option for this is that the whole of milgram is sort of suspended in between videos/trials like Es sleeps, but that's clearly not the case because the prisoners are awake and free while Es "naps" in between trials.

Each prisoner's interrogation & video, in universe, also clearly happens very soon after the other (think kotoko knocking out john during mikoto's interrogation, and hers was right afterwards from a canon perspective).

My thoughts:

The events of Milgram (i.e. each interrogation and mv) happen pretty close together, possibly all in one day / a span of a few days. Obviously from our point of view they are spaced out with months in between, for production reasons, but that is not true in-universe. Between trials, when Es falls "asleep", there is a longer period of time where the prisoners are free to move around (as much as they are able with the restraints), but still probably not as long as it is on our end - my guess would be maybe a few weeks.

Now, there is a connection between our world and theirs, with us acting through Es via voting, and guilty prisoners hearing our comments; but I think this is via more sci-fi means. I think Milgram is a futuristic prison- they have technology beyond today's, with the machine to extract songs, and jackalope communicating with Es somehow, and maybe they cryogenically preserved the prisoners or put them in suspended animation until everything was ready. Now this doesnt have to mean far in the future, as I think all the prisoners are pretty much from contemporary Japan, but even in a few years science can make leaps and bounds, which is what sci-fi is all about. So maybe Milgram is set in the late 2020s/early 2030s, or maybe its much farther than that, idk. But milgram isn't realistic fiction, its a science fiction slanted thought experiment.

And now I want to talk about a couple things about Hetty and the ghosts as a whole when it comes to things. Because like .... while Hetty may not come out and say things blatantly. Nor does the show give the ghosts big blatant obvious moments of protecting her ... we get the subtle things of them caring and I think that does a lot for her. There is a reason that I personally HC that she started to lower the thick walls of protection she built around herself AFTER Alberta died and even then kept the walls up for specific reasons. Anyways, I have two moments I specifically want to mention. And both have to do with her education. First is something I've already seen on here a lot. When she comes strolling in all "that cost 6" with the raven during the yard sale and then episodes later is all "quarter wits" when Flower outsmarts her and Trevor. She made it clear to everyone that she wasn't taught math. And here she is in less than a year comprehending how to do a fraction even if just for a joke. It's clear someone - or multiple someones and I honestly suspect its multiple - is teaching her. (I wouldn't be surprised to find out there is a little ghost classroom where she gets to sit and learn things she never learned before and others join in on things they want to learn when not teaching - Sam and Jay frequently in the room as teacher or student as well. Jay there as student like "um ... Sam ... I dont know whats being taught?")

The other scene ... and this one sits with me a lot. Because it tells us so much. Is the contract scene. And I am still so annoyed and will forever be annoyed that she signed the contract (as I fear it will come back to haunt all of them). The moment Elias held that document out to her, insisting upon her signing it telling her what it was. His "oh its just a simply" tone of voice and the look on her face. That distrust but also "Its Elias, he's my husband" face (the obedient wife slipping back in). It's that singular moment when Isaac threw his hand out, grabbed the contract, and insisted on the fact he HAD to read it before she dared touch it.

Now, even if she has been taught her letters and how to read .... there is no way she has been taught how to read contracts and legal documents. Not when her father is clearly manipulative nor would her manipulative husband likely allow her to learn how to understand contracts and legal documents. The moment she does, is the moment she would be able to work out what she is fully agreeing to after all. The idea is to make her have to ask after she looks it over "what exactly does this mean?" so that THEY get to tell her what they want. Isaac taking the document and reading it negates that ability, the thing is he doesn't actually tell her. He just says its fine. The episode goes on to imply its a simple forgiveness contract, which will allow him to stay. He returns so easily though and continues his way that like ... I wouldn't be surprised if this came back (it also easily could remain closed). Either way, my point is simply that like ... the ghost stepping up when its clear she has a lack of understanding in a subject is honestly so deeply sweet and caring. Even if its not blatantly in our faces its right there. Its a protective thing she never got before that tells her she is cared for and heard. We see how it changes things for her (Alberta explaining voting history to her bringing her to vote for Alberta for example) and makes her soften a bit from the hurt individual who hasn't had anyone to turn to in centuries. I just ... if the next season isnt her protecting those she cares about even if she is struggling and falling back into old habits I might just fall apart.

Yes yes yes!!! The vote was leading them right to the Art Department!! Tail spinning around like a ceiling fan, it was a good thing he was mostly invisible so he didn't smack anyone with it.... Looking over the crowd make their way towards the decorative stairs, Loyboo giggled to themsleves

There was another person with a TV head! There seemed to be multiple actually ..... But the one to catch Loyboos attention was this bright pink one that displayed glasses on their screen. They were adorable looking! Sure they looked puntable like a lot of the other guests here but Loyboo wanted to talk to them too.... However couldnt bring himself to approach, what if all TV heads had mind control powers that activated when you looked at them? Loyboo dipped his head and continued following the crowd

As they entered the Art Department... The boo found himself next to another fidgeting mess of a person, a mask upon their face. White hair with red highlights, fidgeting hands.

He looked back to the crowd ahead and realized how much of the tour he zoned out of! SHIT-

“The Art Department is responsible for all the designs you see around the studio from merchandise to websites although the latter with the help of the Social Media Department! In general we always work closely together with other departments. For example also with the Film Department when it comes to ads!”, Colores now continued, raising a finger. “Among other things we also take care of the fanmail.”

Loyboo locked in and paid attention the best he could, it was still hard even with how ungodly pretty RTV and this new woman were......,,,,,, damn... He missed the ladies name, it'll pop up again right?

“Ah, of course! My bad, I got sidetracked…”, Colores meanwhile answered sheepishly, before moving on to a second table where stacks of plushies were piled up. “Well, I mentioned before that our department is responsible for the merch designs, so I thought: Hey, why not give something to you guys?”

Wait huh? They're going to get a plushie!!! tail whipping at 1million miles per hour again, he already had a bunch of merch that he'd bought on his own but these things were still rather pricey sometimes! Especially for a Boo who couldn't keep a job,,, ah ha- which plushie was she missing from her collection... Just 1 plushie..... He mulled over it for a little while ending up falling behind once again... But he decided on a Saiko plushie! Rare, limited time, and another hard headed hero type for Loyboo to play dolls around with and have her RTV plushie defeat in plushie wars >:]

Gaze back at the crowd... Ah... They were already leaving? But he still had so many questions...

Where did the inspiration come from? Or... What was his original inspiration before he became famous and what are his future artistic goals? Without spoiling the movies of course! How did the department work? What happened in here during the creative process?

Writing down each question in his sketchbook since the tour was currently on its way out of the department... Maybe he could ask the man himself later.... Doubt it.....

The Charming HERo

“Alright princesses listen up.” Her Majesty the White Queen yelled “When the boys arrive what do we do?” ‘

“Sit up straight.” the princesses replied 

Princessologys end of year assessment included sitting outside at the bleachers, watching the hero training class ride horses. It had been a tradition for the winning horse rider to give the princesses an autograph after the competition. And as usual, Daring was predicted to win. Her Majesty was proud of the girls, to show the prince's who they were destined to live happily ever after with. But a once proud smile turned to a suspicious look. She squinted her eyes and scanned the bleachers. 

“Apple” 

“Yes Her Majesty” 

“Where is Darling Charming?” 

Apple looked around, and put her red painted finger nail to her mouth. To her right was Ashlynn, and left, Lizzie, but no sign of the charming princess. 

“I'm not sure. But i'm absolutely positive she's touching up her hairdo” Apple squeaked

The queen nodded in approval and sat down in front. The girls chattered while waiting for the boys to finally show up. 

“Look!” an eager Apple yelled 

At last, the horses arrived on the field, galloping bravely. The girls cheered and the horses got closer. The horse in front had a blonde complexion, hair shiny and voluminous. Daring and his horse did heroic movements, jumping over the obstacles like clockwork. Every move on his behalf made the rest of the boys lose hope. Their horses couldn't compare. The control, discipline, and balance he possessed cancelled out the competition. After all his obstacles, it was everyone else's turn. Apples focus turned to a now still Daring. He looked around, still sitting up proud and tall on the muscular horse. His eyes met Apples, getting an excited wave from her. He waved back, blowing an air kiss. The girls on the bleachers screamed, not for the boy whose turn it was, but for Daring. After the next few boys went, it was still crystal clear who was the champion. Daring and his horse teleported to the middle of the field, taking in all the cheers and praise. A few stray roses were thrown, as he bowed while still on the horse. The autographs were being signed, more and more people coming up to him. 

“Daring, that was amazing” Apple gushed

Without speaking, he grabbed Apples hand and gave it a gentle kiss. More screaming occurred, and Apple giggled, still looking at his metal covered face. Her Majesty praised the hero. Not even noticing the princess who never showed up.

the intensity radiating off of him makes you want to listen

Aita because I asked my friend to not name his kid the same name as my abusive dad because it triggers me?

✨👶🏼 so I notice myself, sorry but I have a mental disability so my grammar isn't great. Sorry if I sound weird.

So let's just call my friend Fred (23,he/him, trans man)and I'll call my dad's name Sven. Fred has one other child(1,m) who I'll call Winston and Fred's newest child (Unborn lol, we know its another boy) is with one of his partners Brooke(22, They/She, transfem nb girl). I also offhandedly mention my partner Rosey(25, Any pronouns, Genderfluid) a few times, Fred's other partner Alan (20s?, He/him, Trans man), and lastly Me (24, He/she, Genderfluid).

Me and Fred have been bffs for like 7 or 8 years and I and Rosey are godparents to Winston and Fred got pregnant again. This time from one of his partners Brooke , Winston's other dad isnt in the picture. Me and Fred are super close (nearly dated at one point but it was before Fred and Brooke got together the first time and we are no longer interested in each other like that.) and I've been following both of Fred's pregnancies just to make sure everything is ok (I'm not encroaching, I just get text updates on appointments and stuff. Fred's first pregnancy was rough.).

Without going into a whole timeline, Fred and Brooke dated a couple years ago for about a year but Brooke raised a hand to hit Fred (never made contact nor any other physical abuse however they used it as a threat) and was controlling over him, they broke up and lost contact and over the last year/year and a half, rekindled and Brooke says they've changed and Fred trusts them again. I still don't like Brooke for obvious reasons but I'm being civil and trying to let them earn my trust again. So far their relationship is fine and it's not my place to muddle so until Fred sets off alarms that Brooke has gone back to their old ways, I'm trusting my friend's judgement. Brooke has been doing great through this pregnancy.

Fred knows the gest about what my dad put me through and how abusive he was to me. He knows I can't even be near cigarette smoke because it reminds me of him. However, Fred doesn't know his name. It's not because Fred doesn't want to, my dad's name just never came up and i didnt realize he didnt know his name till a few hours ago.

Me and Rosey sat in a call with Fred, Brooke and Alan while Fred and Brooke were brainstorming name ideas (They wanted our input). Brooke suggested the name Sven. I wanna be clear, Brooke doesn't know my dad's name either so I don't think this was a way of attacking me or something sinister. The name Sven is standing in for is a very common name in my country, though it's not popular for us gen Zers, it is common for my dad's generation.

I obviously froze up a bit due to the mention of his name and although Rosey tried to bring it up, Fred and his partners are kinda known for interrupting (Usually not viciously) and they didn't hear her. Fred and Brooke chatted happily about what a handsome name Sven was and how they might just decide to stick with it here and now but they wanted to hear other options. I waited out till the end of the call when Alan left (I don't know them so I didn't want to accidentally tell them personal things about my history of abuse) and told Fred that Sven was my dad's name.

Fred gasped and quickly said he wouldn't choose Sven and that he was sorry he forgot his name. Brooke however said that that was not a good enough reason to not consider a name they both dearly loved not 10 seconds ago. I tried to tell Brooke about why my dad was a bad person and some of the lighter things he'd done (not in a trauma dump explicit way, just in a he did *insert form of abuse* way) but they shut me down and said it was their kid to decide the name of. Fred told him he was also a vote in the name and he didn't want to upset me unnecessarily. Brooke said they were done with the conversation and Fred said they'd talk about it later. Fred then said to me and Rosey that he'd handle it and ended the call.

After about 30 mins, I got a couple of texts from Brooke and Alan that I was a jerk for trying to push my triggers onto other people and causing a fight between them and Fred and it wasn't my baby to name. (Alan doesn't live with Brooke and Fred so Brooke told Alan first what happened.) I decided not to answer for an hour or so because I was already worked up and they both essentially called me an asshole for overstepping. Fred just says hes gonna handle them but now I'm just confused.

I can see where I might of overstepped but I wasn't trying to be controlling and even if they would of picked Sven, i would of still respected it and tried my best to get over it as best i can. Was I pushing my problems on others or was I just letting a friend know what that name might be a bit painful for me when the name was just a suggestion? I don't think I'm TA but I wanna see if I'm missing something?

(I just realized rereading this that there is some important context to be added; Sven is not a sentimental name to Fred, Brooke or Alan. It's not a parents or grandparents name that might need carried on, it was just a name they liked. I checked with Fred to see if that explained Brooke's anger or something and Fred said no, they just liked Sven. There also hasn't been any hostility before this with Brooke or Alan so I'm not sure where all this anger came from.)

This is for the Warrior Penelope AU again—TWS for mentions of Antinous being a weirdo/creep but thats kind of it—and also physical violence/hitting.

The reason I ask this is cuz I think a characters first piece of dialogue or first ever action they do is important to their character or says a lot about them. At least how they're first shown says a lot about them. And Antinous is still very obviously not a good guy the first time he shows up here, even when its not revealed hes a creep yet. So thats why I'm asking what would be a more in character thing for him to do upon seeing some random woman wash up on his Isle (who he eventually finds out is the Queen of the place he originally lived before being sent to the Isle he lives upon here—hes a human btw, but he got sent to a magical island by Athena and is now a sorcerer whos gonna be trapped there for like 100 years).

I personally see Canon Antinous as a cold and calculating man, who can be very physically violent and even seems to strongly love the idea of power or control or just of having power over something in general—and I also think hes very arrogant and cruel, and likely isnt aware hes a bad person and doesnt care either way because he just wants to do what he wants to do without caring about how others feel—so maybe we can go by what would show that personality off more for his reaction to her washing up.

i think saying that the work in the vatican is somehow less important or even irrelevant and that the story is about saying that serving the church is not a valid way to serve god is a complete misread of the text.

im not saying that i know what the Authors Intent is. its just doesn't seem to be the message given that god's envoy, benitez, gets installed at the top of this organization.

benitez says this in his convo which in normal terms i would agree with but it feels disjointed coming from a guy that basically left his flock to expose himself as a cardinal to the world which the extremists could see as provocation and potentially risking retaliation towards said flock just so he could exercise his right to vote the next pope. if he truly believes it to be fine if the catholic church split or remain leaderless and directionless bc god is not in there and only with the poor, the sick and the needy, he wouldn't even be in rome to vote for the pope in the first place

when i finished the book i was jokingly said to a friend at how the story is a lot kinder to the catholic church than i would be. if the idea was to show that the catholic church is a godless insitution, i would have benitez walk out of there, let the church elect tedesco, make tedesco provoke extremists, causing external attacks on it, and also have a schism as a cherry on top. let it crumble to dust

but that's not what happens. the fact that god WAS guiding the conclave and making sure the cardinals elect the right guy for the job is basically flat out saying god is with the catholic church. thats a huge thing

a lot of people gave aldo a lot of flak for saying this and saying he only cares about preserving the institution but is he wrong tho??? they're PRIESTS they chose this path. there are a lot of ways to serve god true but if you're a priest you're basically doing that. serving god through the church. especially when ur in the top brass of the vatican. and if this is ur way to serve god, you would want to make sure that it will be standing strong.

bellini, who is trying to use the church influence and power to speak for the women, the queer folks, and the people of other faiths, is also trying to serve god in his own way and not just trying to preserve the church. i already pointed out in part 1 of this long post but the Catholic church even if its just speaking out would have a huge effect in society.

and the thing is, benitez basically is using the church as a way to serve others just in a different way than what bellini is doing.

someone like benitez who came from the urban poor of a third world country would realistically have no resources to serve the victims of war. if we take the bank reports of the old pope he basically has no personal wealth. joining the church and becoming a priest basically gave him the opportunity to actually help. if he didnt, he probably wouldn't even be able to leave the Philippines to serve in congo and in kabul. like truly! do you know how expensive the Philippines' departure tax is compared to the minimum wage. its more than 2 days worth of work and that's just the departure tax. I haven't even mentioned the price of the trip ticket from manila to congo.

sure benitez could have served the poor and the needy through any other way but he chose to join the church and do his work thru it. if the message was that the catholic church isnt worth preserving or that the politics of the vatican has no real consequences to the outside of it, then i think the story didnt convey that very well.

anyway, i think the message is not about whose work between bellini and benitez is more valid either. i think the message is a lot more mundane.

just as god made use of the bombing to prevent the curia from making a mistake and voting lomeli in, making tedesco loose his cool bc he was rattled by the blast and giving opportunity for benitez' personality to shine,
